Joe Russell Gunn, age 71 of Dayton, went to be with the Lord on September 13, 2012 in Dayton, TX.

Joe was born July 9, 1941 in Mont Belvieu, TX, son of Claude and Loris Gunn. He attended Barbers Hill High School and worked for over forty years as a welder. He was a member of the Local #211 Pipefitter’s Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother; Johnny Gunn. He leaves behind to cherish his memories, daughter; Josette Cook of Baycliff, son; Clint Gunn and wife Stacey of Driftwood, brother; Claude Gunn and wife Gayle of Mont Belvieu, sister; Elizabeth Mitchell and husband Charles of Spring, sister-in-law; Janyce Gunn of Mont Belvieu, granddaughters; Shelby Gunn, Chelsea Murski, Alexis Gunn, Sidney Gunn, grandson; Zane Gunn.

Services for Joe Russell Gunn will be Thursday, September 20, 2012 at 10am at Sterling Funeral Home, 602 North Main, Dayton, TX with burial to follow at Williams-Barbers cemetery in Mont Belvieu. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 from 5pm to 8pm.

Choate

Cynthia Marie Choate, age 56, died Sunday, September 16, 2012. Cindy was born May 31, 1956 in East Bernard, Texas.

She was a scuba diver, a bicycle enthusiast, enjoyed aerobics and pilates. She loved to travel, she liked to gamble, was a regular blood donor, an avid donor to several charities. Cindy was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend to many who will be missed by all.

She is preceded in death by her father Douglas Stauss, Mother Waldine White; and brother Douglas “JuJu” Stauss Jr. She leaves her memories to her loving husband Louis Choate; step-mom Betty Stauss; mother-in-law Mattie Choate; daughters Evonne Horton and spouse Larry Horton, Angel Choate, Dwana Vann and spouse Jerry Vann; sons Adam Thomas and girlfriend Rebecca Bass; sisters Debbie Cis and spouse Larry Cis; brothers Mark White and spouse Dawn White; grandchildren Justin Vann, Josh Vann, Ashley Horton, Tristan Horton, Dimitri Horton, Gavin Horton, Alexis Horton, Kylie Schuetz, and Kayci Thomas; great grandchildren Cody Vann; very special sister-in-law Geraldine “Frog” Lowe and spouse Norman Lowe; very dear friends Sonja Hammock and Rita Burton, and Phyllis Phillips; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other cherished family members and treasured friends through the years.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 22, 2012, 2:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Chapel, Cleveland, Texas. Honorary pallbearers included THE BICYCLE MAFIA, Phyllis Brunson, Dawn White, Kim Romans, Savannah Brunson, Barbara Hughes, and Tina Dumesnil.

Callihan

Walter Marvin Callihan, age 60 of Devers, died on September 14, 2012 in Spring, TX.

Walter was born October 15, 1951 in Anahuac, TX, son of James and Bertha Callihan. Walter retired from Brown and Root as a tug boat captain.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves behind to cherish his memories, sister; Heneritta Harvel and husband Vennie of Jefferson, nephew; Charles Edward Harvel of Tex-Arkana, niece; Angela Marie Hinton of Mississippi, great-nephew; Thomas Ford Jr of Mississippi.

Cremation services have been entrusted to Sterling Funeral Home, 602 North Main, Dayton, TX.

O'Quinn

Herbert C. O'Quinn, Jr. Herbert C. O'Quinn, of League City, passed away on Saturday, September 15, 2012 in Webster, Texas at the age of 75.

He was born on April 10, 1937 in Beaumont, Texas to Herbert C. and Helen O'Quinn.

After serving a tour in the Air Force, he worked for many years as a machinist first in Houston and then in the Freeport area. He was an avid fisherman,

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ray and Charles, and first wife Wana O'Quinn.

Herbert is survived by his wife Clareen, children Kelly O'Quinn, Michael O'Quinn, Jeff O'Quinn and Laura Thornton, Adrianne Bickham, Paul Kunert and his wife Angel, sister Barbara Ann Cato and her husband Edd. brother Doyle O'Quinn and his wife Ivy Jewel, sixteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren

The Family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at 5:00pm with a Celebration of His Life Ceremony at 6:30pm at Crowder Funeral Home, 1645 East Main Street, League City, Texas 77573.

Stayton

Mary Hayes Stayton, 93, of Baytown, died Sunday, September 16, 2012 in Baytown.

She was born May 3, 1919 in Beaumont to her late parents, Armender Hayes and Nora Wingate Hayes.

Mrs. Stayton lived in Devers for 50 years before moving to Baytown. She graduated from Devers High School in 1936 and was the class salutatorian. While living in Devers she was a very active member of First Baptist Church, serving as a Sunday School teacher, Pulpit Committee Member, Vacation Bible School teacher and preparing family meals for funerals.

Mary, with her husband, Howard, moved to Baytown in 1974, where she became an active member of Memorial Baptist Church. Her activities at Memorial Baptist were membership in the Singing Saints Choir, Triple L and Vacation Bible School helper. She also enjoyed traveling on the church trips and volunteering in the church office.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 66 years, Howard Stayton; sisters, Dorothy Odiorne and Callie Ora Hancock; brothers, Clifton, Clenny, Calvin and Bennie Earl Hayes and a son-in-law, George Phillips.

Survivors include her daughters, Carolyn Powell and her husband Thomas of Baytown, Linda Burrell and her husband Carroll of Baytown and Gayle Phillips of Houston; grandchildren, Kellie Sartor and her husband Tim of Beach City, Heather Lundy and her husband Wade of Waller and Mark Phillips of Houston; great-grandchildren, Stayton and Sydney Sartor of Beach City; brother, Armender Hayes, Jr. of Baytown; special friends Wanda Whittington, Ruth and Tommy McMullen and J. C. and Nora Lee Ladd and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Swan Manor for the care and devotion they have shown to Mrs. Stayton.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at Navarre Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 20, 2012 in the Chapel of Memorial Baptist Church, 600 West Sterling Avenue, Baytown, Texas 77520. Rev. David Cross will be officiating. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 20, 2012 at Stacy Memorial cemetery in Devers.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund.

McKey

Lonnie Ray McKey Sr.77, of Wallisville, died September 15 at home surrounded by his loved ones.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac. Interment will follow in Hardin Chapel cemetery in Hardin. A gathering of Lonnie’s family and friends will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Monday in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac.

Lonnie was born December 1, 1934 in Black Jack, Texas to Daniel Jackson McKey and Lillie Mae Fisher and resided in the Anahuac area over 60 years.

He was retired from Trinity Bay Conservation District, where he was a dragline operator for over 20 years and a Supervisor of the maintenance department for over 5 years. In his spare time he loved hunting, working cattle and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. McKey is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Jessie "Son" McKey, Daniel J. McKey, Edward J. McKey, Evan McKey; sisters, Ruby Stewart, Thelma McDaniel, Velma Roy, Lula Mae Brooks, Bessie Owens and Etta Hieronimus.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jean "Honey" Oldham McKey; son, Lonnie C. McKey Jr. and wife Konna of Wallisville; daughters, Kathy Harrell and husband Robert of Hankamer and Tammy McKey of Wallisville; Grandchildren, Lonnie D. Moon of Mont Belvieu, Eric McKey of Wallisville, Paige Sherman of Wallisville, Chase McKey of Wallisville, Tabitha Pruessner of Wallisville, great-grandchildren, Tyce, Mailey, Kenzi, Jathan, Matthew, Leyton, Kutter, and Katelynn; brothers and sisters: James McKey Stevens, Glenn McKey, Elizabeth Jenkins, Marie Donaldson, Louise McShane, and numerous family and friends.

Snell

James was born June 22, 1946 in Livingston, Texas and passed away Sepember 15, 2012 at Liberty Dayton Hospital.

He was born to Frank and Nola Fae Parker Snell whom preceded him in death. James was a member of the United Methodist Church in Hardin. He served his country as a United States Marine. James was a die hard loyal Hardin Hornet and UT Longhorn fan. He loved to share memories of his and his sons years as Hornets. The Lady Hornet team were very dear to his heart and loved to be a part of their success.

He leaves behind to cherish their love of 43 years wife Aneece Snell of Hardin. Sons Jim Snell and wife Teaka of Vidor, Randy Snell and wife Regina of Liberty. Grandchildren Reagan, Ryan, Olivia, Ava whom he loved very much. Brother Tom Snell and wife Mary of Moss Hill. Special to his heart Bill Sims and Johnny Carter. Sister in laws LaJuana Knight of Hardin, Sharon McLain of Hardin, Sandra McDaniel and husband Doug of Moss Hill and brother in law Weldon Buell of Spring, Branch Texas.

A service of remembrance will be held Monday September 17, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at The Hardin United Methodist Church with Reverend Gideon Watson officiating, interment will follow at the Hardin Chapel cemetery. The family will be receiving friends also on Monday September 17, 2012 from 12:00 noon until time of service also at Hardin United Methodist church. Those serving as pallbearers are Bobby Kersh, Doug McDaniel, Bill Sims, Johnny Carter, Walt Saucier, Weldon Buell.

Marshall

Annie Fay Barrow Marshall, 93 of Anahuac died on Friday, September 14, 2012 in Houston.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, September 17, 2012 at First United Methodist Church in Anahuac with Pastor Randy Carrion and Bill Cotman officiating. Interment will follow in Anahuac cemetery. A gathering of Annie's family and friends will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Sunday, September 16th at Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac.

Annie was a native of Anahuac and a lifelong member of First United Methodist in Anahuac. She loved being outdoors, bird watching, camping and fishing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim B. Marshall; daughter, P.D. Jimmie Ann Hankamer, sisters, Lois Westerman and Dorothy Hill.

Annie is survived by her daughter, Dorothy Cotman and husband, Tom; sons, Bill Marshall and wife, Charlotte, Johnny Marshall and wife, Elizabeth; brother, Sterling Alton Barrow; grandchildren, Ann Marie Hicks, Catherine Cotman, Bill Cotman, Arlette Williams, John Hankamer, Hank Hankamer, Alanna Hardage, Jim Marshall, Jo Ann Marshall, David Marshall; seventeen great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.

The family request in lieu of flowers donations to be made to First United Methodist Church of Anahuac. Pallbearers are Sam Hill, John Hankamer, Hank Hankamer, Bill Cotman, Jim Marshall, David Marshall, and Randy Williams.

Lattea

Debbie Jean Lattea, 38 of Houston died Monday, September 10, 2012 at East Houston Regional Hospital.

She was a loving daughter, mother, funny sister and aunt.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Interment will be in Palms Memorial Park.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Maxine Lattea. She loved dressing up her poodle "Dakota".

Debbie is survived by her father, Leo Lattea; daughter, Alexis Wheeler; sister, Joyce Wheeler; brothers, Robert, Roger, David and Bruce Lattea; special niece, Kimberly Webb; and numerous other nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.

Riley

Johnnie Mae Riley was born January 28, 1922 to George W. and Ammie B. (Hatcher) Hickman at Marisee, Texas (Batson) and passed away in Carthage, Texas on Tuesday, September 11, 2012.

Johnnie Mae graduated from Batson High School in 1941 and married Arthur G. Riley on February 2, 1942 in Hardin, Texas and celebrated 68 years of marriage before his passing.

She is survived by her son, Winston Riley of Daisetta, Texas, Daughter, Amy Sullivan and husband Richard of Carthage, Texas, Granddaughter, Carmen (Riley) Ashe and husband John of Indiana, Grandsons, R. Blake Riley of Denver, Co., and Richard L. Sullivan and wife Christy of Carthage, TX., Great-Grandchildren, Ryan and Caitlyn Ashe. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Arthur, infant grandson, Edward Tyrolt Riley, daughter-in-law, Kathy Riley, brothers, Edward Hickman and James G. “Boots” Hickman, sisters, Myrtle Mcreight and Eura Lee Bagwell.

Johnnie Mae loved her family and was involved in her children’s activities in church and school. Her profession of faith was made at Batson Prairie Baptist Church at a young age and became a faithful member of Central Baptist Church – Daisetta in her adult years. She was a Life Member and Past Matron of Hull Chapter 737 Order of the Eastern Star and a member of Liberty-Dayton Chapter 634 OES, former member of Rebecca Lodge of Liberty and the Hull-Daisetta Garden Club.

Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren: Richard Sullivan, Blake Riley and Carmen Ashe. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. and Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 15, 2012 at Allison Funeral Service Chapel, with interment to follow in Guedry cemetery, Batson, Texas. Reverend Lee Gruver will officiate.

Services are under the direction of Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis St., Liberty, Texas 77575.

Todd

Marleen June Hymel Schwarze Todd, 81 of Devers, died on Tuesday September 11, 2012.

She was a life-long member of the First Baptist Church of Devers. She loved to hunt and fish and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Beatrice Hymel; first husband, Ervin Schwarze, and second husband, Charles Bruce Todd.

She is survived by her sons, Michael Schwarze, Sr. and wife Terry of Devers and Wayne Schwarze and wife Delorise of Cleveland; grandchildren, Michael Schwarze, Jr. and wife Christy of Devers, Christopher Schwarze of Cleveland, Wayne Schwarze and wife Kerry of Freemont, Nebraska; and 10 great grandchildren.

A memorial service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 14, 2012 at the First Baptist Church of Devers, officiated by Reverend Rick Edwards.
