Lasseigne

Alphonse Adam Lasseigne, 81, of Anahuac, Texas, died Sunday, May 24, 2009. He was born on September 2, 1927 to Willie Joseph and Rita Borel Lasseigne in Lafayette, Louisiana. Al discharged honorably from the United States Army after three years of serving his country. He retired from Brown and Root as a superintendent. Later in life he enjoyed playing with his dog Candy and spending time with his family.

Al is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mandonia Courville, Jessie Goucet, Yaland Picard, Sorita Broussard, and Bessie Le Blanc; step-son, Randy Stephenson; grandchildren, Susie Stephenson and Dennis Allen Stephenson.

He is survived by his loving wife Ruby E. Lasseigne; step-children, Charles Stephenson, Jr. of Double Bayou, Dennis Stephenson and wife Jo Ann of Double Bayou, and Dianne Rodgers and husband David of Anahuac; son Lonnie Lasseigne of Kenefick; daughter Redell Fontenot of Port Neches; brothers, Willis Joseph Lasseigne and wife Elsie of Catahoula, LA and Zerzen Lasseigne of Catahoula; sister, Connie Duhon of Santa Fe, TX; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A visitation for family and friends will be from five until eight o’clock in the evening on Thursday, May 28th at Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac. A graveside service will take place in Jackson cemetery on Friday, May 29th at twelve o’clock noon. Arrangements for Al have been entrusted to Sterling Funeral Home, 1201 S Main St, Anahuac, Texas 77514.

Gomez

Abraham Jimenez Gomez, 49, of Hardin, Texas, died Saturday, May 23, 2009.

He was born on June 28, 1959 to Jose Gomez Nieves and Fidencia Jimenez in Piedras Negras Mexico.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jose Victor Gomez and Juan Andres Gomez.

He is survived by his daughters, Edna Manuel of Liberty, Brenda Sanchez and husband Braulio of Liberty and Julia Gomez of Houston; wife, San Juanita Martinez; siblings, Gloria Gomez Jimenez, Javier Gomez Jimenez, Rogelio Gomez Jimenez, Maricela Gomez Jimenez, Jose Manuel, Sergio Gomez, Maria de Jesus Bravo, Isidra Mendez, Santa Guadalupe Chavez, Margarita Barboza, Fidencia Menchaca; seven grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A visitation for family and friends will be from five until eight o’clock in the evening Tuesday, May 26th at Allison Funeral Service with a Rosary Service beginning at seven o’clock. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at four o’clock in the afternoon at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Liberty, with interment to follow in the Catholic cemetery. Final arrangements have been entrusted to Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N Travis St, Liberty, Texas 77575.

Coleman

Drucilla “Dru” Coleman, 81, died Sunday, May 17, 2009.

She was born on August 10, 1927 to Arthur and Alice Points in Akron, Ohio.

She is preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Robert Delvin Coleman; son, Jon Michael Coleman; and sister, Clara Partridge.

She is survived by her son, Robert Daniel Coleman; grandchildren, Jennifer Goldstein, Darryl Coleman, Dawn Tillman, Jeffrey Coleman, Roxanne Coleman, Dakota Coleman and Kim Coleman; and great-grandchildren, Jordan Mallonee, Morgan Verseman, and R.D. Coleman.

Graveside services will be at two o’clock in the afternoon Wednesday, May 27th at Magnolia Park cemetery in Dayton, Texas. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N Main St., Dayton, Texas.

Ozan

Memorial Service for John Paul Ozan, 78, of Raywood, Texas, will be held Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Miles Missionary Baptist Church, Ames, Texas, Reverend Raphael Montgomery, Pastor, Rev. Dwight Pruitt, officiating.

A native of Raywood, he was a graduate of Woodson High School, a member of St. Miles Baptist Church, and a veteran of the United States Air Force.

He died, Saturday, May 23, 2009 at his residence.

He is survived by nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Harris

James L. “Jimmy” Harris, 65, of Cleveland, died Saturday, May 23, 2009, at the Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Cleveland.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at the Concorde cemetery in Rye. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Cleveland.

Jimmy was born November 21, 1943 in Houston, to parents; Louis L. and Marion G. Garner Harris, a former resident of Livingston, and has resided in Cleveland for the past two years. He was a veteran of the US Army with service during the Korean Conflict, a retired electrician from Southern Pacific Railroad, and enjoyed being at the lake, hunting, and motorcycles.

Mr. Harris was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 41 years: Katherine Hudson Harris of Cleveland, daughters: Robin Tullock and husband Shane of Splendora and Marion Harris and companion Shane Robertson of Cleveland, four grandchildren: Jesse Hall, John Harris, Robert Harber, and Tiffany Tullock, and numerous other relatives, and friends.

Jamar

Frances Ellen Jamar, age 66, died in Libertyville, IL, Saturday, April 22, 2009.

She was born in Liberty, July 25, 1942 to George E. and Thora Hightower.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Jerry Jamar; and her father, George “Pat” Hightower. Survivors include her mother, Thora Hightower; daughter, Jackie Campos and husband, Frank; son, Rick Jamar; grandchild, Fox Campos; brother, Don Hightower and wife, Tana; nephew, Steve Hightower and wife, Erica; niece; Ginger Carlton and husband, Karl; Aunt Bobbie Best and many other cherished family members and treasured friends throughout the years.

Funeral services were held Thursday, May 7, 2009, 10:00 a.m., at the Coldspring Pace-Stancil Chapel with interment at Evergreen cemetery.

Frances lived her early years in Port Arthur and spent 30+ years in the Coldspring area. She was a Godly person; Lutheran in faith and member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Livingston. She graduated from Sam Houston State University and Lamar State University with a B.A. in Journalism and Art. She was a most generous woman; giving from the heart in her career as a teacher of 16 years. She received her teaching degree from Lamar in Beaumont and taught school in Baytown, West Hardin, Cleveland, Splendora, Crowley, LA, and Coldspring. Her giving and sharing extended in her passion of drawing she so loved.

Howell

Lottie R. Wilson Howell, 86, of Cleveland, died Monday, May 18, 2009, at the Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Cleveland.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 20, 2009, at the Calvary Baptist Church with burial at the Brookside Memorial Park in Humble. Services were under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Cleveland.

Mrs. Howell was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Charles Howell, sister: Cecilia Andrews, and brother: Carnot Wilson. She is survived by her son: Ronnie Howell and wife Rhonda, sister: Elouise Goudeau, grandchildren: Monica Hughes and husband Greg, Tonya Birdwell and husband Gentry, and Jennifer Howell, great-grandchildren: Gunnar, Grant, and Darby Hughes, nieces: Jan Ferguson and husband Dale, Shirley Dvorak and husband Leonard, Betty Franklin and husband Todd, nephew: George Goudeau and wife Brenda, former daughter-in-law: Sylvia Morris, sister-in-law: Agnes Wilson, brother-in-law: Larry Andrews, and numerous other relatives, and friends.

Stanley

Barbara G. Fuller Stanley, 72, of Cleveland, died Saturday, May 23, 2009, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at the Calvary Baptist Church in Cleveland with burial following at the Montague cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday, at the Calvary Baptist Church. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Cleveland.

Barbara was born March 7, 1937, in Houston, to parents; Lennard E., Sr. and Wilma A. Cawldra Fuller.

Mrs. Stanley is survived by her husband: R. D. Stanley, daughters: Vickie Holden and Debbie Stanley, sons: Ricky Stanley, Mickey Stanley, and Lewis Stanley, grandchildren: Chasity, Robert, Ashley, James, Brandi, Holden, and Crystal, great-grandchildren: Brianna, Kayla, Christopher, Dillin, Skyler, Halley, Adalyn, and Briley, sisters: Charlene McCain, Ima Lynn Badgett, and Tula Makela, brother: Leonard Fuller, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

LaFour

Edwin Beauregard “Jack” LaFour, 86, of Port Arthur, died peacefully Wednesday, May 20, 2009 in Port Arthur, after an extended illness. He was born March 19, 1923 in East Point, Louisiana to parent Kenneth and Beaulah Eaton LaFour. He served his country in the Army during Korea and had worked for Wilbros Construction as a diesel engineer before retiring. He was a member of the Maranatha Temple in Mont Belvieu. He loved his family and will be surely missed by all that knew him.

Services for Mr. LaFour will be 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton with Pastor Keenan Smith officiating. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Houston National cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Monday evening at the funeral home.

Mr. LaFour was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife Emma Marie LaFour of Port Arthur; daughters: Cheria LaFour of Vidor and Linda Dixon and husband Pete; sons: Edwin LaFour of Cove, Floyd LaFour and wife Kim of Manville, Paul LaFour of Texas City, and Sidney LaFour of Dayton; grandchildren: Clint Dixon, Shawn Dixon, Kenneth LaFour, Danielle Thompson, Stephine LaFour, Jennifer LaFour Frazier, Michael LaFour, Jessica LaFour, Hunter LaFour, Chris LaFour, Caleb LaFour, and Cheyenne LaFour; great-grandchildren: Haley, Dillon, Kassidy, Beau, Gabriel, Whitney, Levi, Christopher, and Anna.

Banning

Jay Douglas Banning, 50, of Dayton, died Thursday, May 21, 2009 in Liberty.

He was born January 2, 1959 in Dayton, Texas, to parents: Bobby D. and Sandra L. Shipman Banning. He graduated from Dayton High School and was currently employed by Curtis and Son.

Services for Jay will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 23, 2009 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with his sister, Juliene Ramsey officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Banning was preceded in death by his father: Bobby Banning; his sister: Jody G. Banning; and his grandfather: J.E. Shipman. He is survived by his wife Dianne Banning of Dayton; his mother: Sandra Banning and Dutch Schliske of Dayton; his daughters: Rachael Diane Ritchey, Randel Laine Banning, and Eliska Garner. Sons: Jacob Garner, Adam Garner, and Levi Garner; his grandchildren: Seth Michael Thompson, Haley Jane Brandin, and Hayden Michael Richey; grandmother: Ruby Shipman of Dayton; sisters: Juliene Ramsey of Dayton and Jonnie Banning of Dayton; father-in-law: Gerald Wenzel; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mills

Carl Mills, 66, of Cleveland, died Thursday, May 21, 2009 in Houston.

He was born August 5, 1942 in Cleveland, Texas to parents: Carl Cullen and Madge DuBose Mills. He was a lifelong resident of Cleveland and had worked as a specific project manager and inventory control manager for Performance Trucks and Martin Chevrolet.

Services for Mr. Mills will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 24, 2009 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Cleveland with interment to follow at Cleveland Memorial Park under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church.

Mr. Mills was survived by his wife Sammye Kay Mills of Cleveland; two children: Parish Carl Mills and wife Robin, and Kathryn Mills; sister: Judy Manes and husband Rick.

Caswell

Sylvester “S V” Caswell, 72, of Tarkington Prairie, died Wednesday, May 20, 2009.

He was born March 2, 1937 in Willow Springs, Texas to parents, Benjamin Franklin and Georgia P. Tipton Caswell. He was a long time resident of Tarkington working in the logging business.

Services for Mr. Caswell will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 23, 2009 at the Oak Shade Baptist Church, Tarkington Prairie with Rev. Jimmy Charles officiating. Interment will follow at Morgan cemetery under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland. Visitation will be 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Oak Shade Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years: Odessa Caswell of Tarkington; his six sons: Ricky and Becky Plummer, Kenneth and Carolyn Caswell, Larry and Connie Plummer, Steven and Rhonda Caswell, Lester and Debbie Plummer, Chad and Rhonda Caswell; three daughters: Darlene Womack, Georgia and Ronnie Yancey, and Sandy and David Steele; one brother: George Caswell; 20 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Kovach

Antone “Tony” Kovach, 93, of Cleveland, died Wednesday, May 20, 2009. He was born in Evergreen, San Jacinto County, Texas, May 24, 1915 to John and Mary Kovach who preceded him in death along with his loving wife of 59 years, Marvis Kovach.

Services for Mr. Kovach will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 24, 2009 at First Baptist Church in Cleveland with Rev. Gary Ladner officiating. Interment to follow at the Montague cemetery under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Saturday at First Baptist Church.

Tony is survived by his sons: Antone John Kovach, Jr., Richard W. Kovach, David Eugene Kovach, Mark Bradley Kovach; daughters-in-law: Julia Kovach and Debbie Kovach; sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Muriel and Robert Sigler; grandchildren: Marlo Kristine Kovach and Jeremy Michael Kovach; numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family members and treasured friends throughout the years.

Jones

Robert Lee Jones, age 83, of Moss Hill, Texas, died on Wednesday, May 20, 2009 after several months of failing health.

Bob was born June 15, 1925 in Huntington, Texas and was a Liberty County resident for the past 37 years. He is preceded in death by his father, Calvin Paul Jones; mother, Mabel Weeks Fitzpatrick; brother, Joe Bill Jones; daughter, Marilyn Jean Jones Peter; and step-father, George Fitzpatrick.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Jones; along with their children, Debra Turner of Markleeville, CA, Linda Zbranek of Liberty, TX, Robert T. Jones of Moss Hill, TX, and Sam Jones of Beaumont, TX; son, Billy Rex Jones of Germany and Brenda Bourn of Yakima, WA; grandchildren, Josh Peter, Hayley Jones, Justin Zbranek, Rob, Lacy, and Abby Jones. He also leaves behind several great-grandchildren.

His entrepreneurial spirit led him to own a number of successful businesses starting with an import Datsun Dealership in Southern California in the 1960’s, automobile air conditioning, restaurants, and real estate endeavors over the past several decades, to the family run Transmission Exchange INC. and Graham-Karcher Auto Sales.

A visitation for family and friend will be from six until eight o’clock in the evening in the chapel of Allison Funeral Service Friday, May 22nd. A celebration of life will be held at ten o’clock in the morning Saturday, May 23rd at Allison Funeral Service. Graveside services will be at half past one o’clock in the afternoon Saturday May 23rd in Jonesville cemetery in Huntington, Texas.

Final arrangements for Bob have been entrusted to Allison Funeral Service 1101 N Travis St Liberty, Texas 77575.

Slankard

Merl Mulloy Slankard, 92, of Batson, died Sunday May 17, 2009 at his residence.

A native and residence of Batson, Merl was a fleet Manager for The City of Richardson and a U.S. Army Air Force WWII veteran serving in the Italian Theatre operations. He was also past Worshipful Master of the Masonic lodge # 307 in Thibodeaux La.

He was preceded in death by his wife; Jo Slankard Mitchell, survivors are daughters; Patricia Johnson of Houston, Cindy O’Brien of Houston. Grandchildren; Robert Buss, Mary-Pat Buss, Beth O’Brien, Ben O’Brien.

A service of remembrance will be held Saturday May 23, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. At Mt. Calvary Baptist Church- Marysee of Moss Hill with interment to follow at 2:00 P.M. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont.

The family will be receiving friends also Saturday beginning at 10:00 A.M. Until time of service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Odyssey Health Care 550 Fannin St. Beaumont, Texas 77701-3313
