Velasco
Evangelina R. Velasco, 90, of Rio Grande City died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, in a hospital there. She was a former resident of Kingsville.
Survivors include two daughters, Delfina V. Guerra of Rio Grande City and Constancia V. Rodriguez of Kingsville; three sons, Magdaleno R. “Leno” Velasco and wife Juanita of Beeville, Genaro Velasco of Kingsville and David Velasco of Rio Grande City; 19 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Hernandez Funeral Home chapel there. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 3 p.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Rio Grande City.
Burial followed at Los Barreras Cemetery in Los Barreras.

Williford
Doris Evon Bradfute Williford, 61, of Beeville died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001, after a long battle with cancer. She was born Oct. 23, 1940, in Skidmore to Gladys and Mabel (Atkinson) Bradfute of Lagarto.
She had been a longtime resident of Corpus Christi and was a realtor there.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Lester Bradfute; and two sisters, Mary Richards and Ruth Eldridge.
Survivors include two sons, Gary Murl Williford Jr. and wife Suzie of The Woodlands and Randall Scot Williford and wife Jacquie of Sandia; two sisters, Ruby Elliot and husband Tommy of Beeville and Delores Gorbet and husband Buddy of Lagarto; two brothers, L.A. “Louis” Bradfute and wife Edris of Dinero and L.G. Bradfute and wife Darleen of San Diego,  Calif.; five grandchildren, Cameron Scot, Jordan Ashley, Clayton Wyatt, Randi Rachelle and Nance Colton Williford; 25 nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Dobie Funeral Home in Mathis. Burial will follow in the Argenta Cemetery.

Womack
Opal A. Womack, 93, of Belton, formerly of Houston and Corpus Christi, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2001, in Belton. She was born July 17, 1908, in Quanah to John E. and Edna (Goble) Allred. She was a member of the Belton Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl R. Womack; a daughter, Lazella Beauchamp; two brothers, A.J. and Luther Allred; and two sisters, Ossie and Orene Wilson.
Survivors include two granddaughters, Connie Gillmore and husband Steve of Belton and Sharon Sugarek and husband Bill of Corpus Christi; two sisters, Mary Edna Stockman and husband Rex of Houston and Ella Faye “Jackie” Weatherly and husband Lonnie of Livingston; a sister-in-law, Elmina Allred of Houston; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
A graveside service and burial were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster, with Steve Gillmore officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of Sawyer-George Funeral Home in Corpus Christi.

Alaniz
Jorge C. Alaniz, 65, of Papalote died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002. He was born April 22, 1936, in San Diego to Gorgonio and Sixta (Chavez) Alaniz. He was a construction worker and a member of the Catholic church.
Survivors include two daughters, Sylvia Lopez of Los Fresnos,  Calif., and Dalia Alaniz of Corpus Christi; a stepdaughter, Linda Ana Alaniz of Papalote; a son, Jorge Lopez of Los Fresnos,  Calif.; three sisters, Maria Ruiz of Alice, Jesusa Hinojosa of Mt. Pleasant, Mich., and Agapita Alaniz of Orange Grove; five brothers, Billy, Robert and Francisco Alaniz, all of Papalote, Antonio Alaniz of Alice and Gorgonio Alaniz Jr. of Dallas; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Treviño Funeral Home chapel. The funeral was held at 3 o’clock this afternoon (Wednesday) at the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Richard Gonzales officiating.
Private interment followed at the family ranch.

De La Rosa
Beatrice De La Rosa, 55, of Sinton died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002.
A prayer service was held at 7 p.m. Monday at the Angelus Funeral Home chapel. A graveside service and burial were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Our Lady of Victory Cemetery No. 2, with the Rev. Julio Zuniga officiating.
Mrs. De La Rosa was born Jan. 24, 1947, in Berclair to Catarina (Candela) and Adam Aleman Sr. She married Jesse De La Rosa in 1968 in Sinton. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Jesse De La Rosa of Sinton; three sons, Armando P. and Rodney De La Rosa, both of Wichita Falls, and Santos De La Rosa of Sinton; two grandchildren; and four sisters, Alicia Chapa of George West, Sylvia Zuniga of Cleburne, Aurora Ramirez of Victoria and Delia Nieto of Beeville.

Dominguez
Ramon G. Dominguez, 72, of Beeville died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002.
Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Galloway and Sons chapel. The funeral was conducted at 1 o’clock this afternoon (Wednesday) at the Galloway chapel, with the Rev. Richard Gonzales officiating. Pallbearers were David Balderas, Freddy DeRusse, Tony Loya, Martin Maldonado, Martin Sanchez, Alberto Zuniga and Benito Canales.
Mr. Dominguez was born Nov. 27, 1929, in Port Isabel to Antonia (Garza) and Rumaldo Dominguez. He served with the U.S. Air Force and retired from civil service work on Sept. 30, 1986.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Dominguez of Beeville; a daughter, Debbie Dominguez of Corpus Christi; two stepsons, Larry Britz and wife Lorraine of League City and Charles Britz and wife Rita of Santa Fe; two sisters, Juanita Arambul of Corpus Christi and Inez Steinhage of New York; two brothers, Roger and Antonio Dominguez, both of Corpus Christi; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Juan Dominguez; and a sister, Josephine Alden.

Graves
Robert Leon Graves, 79, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Galloway and Sons chapel, with the Rev. Don  Taylor officiating. Organist will be Patricia Coffee.
Burial will follow at 2:45 p.m. in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio. Pallbearers will be Wesley Hilliard, Deal Fair, Chuck Brush and A.K. Young.
Mr. Graves was born Aug. 27, 1922, in Jackson, Minn., to Leona (Lewison) and Harry P. Graves. He married Genevieve Allison on Feb. 12, 1947, in Sioux Falls, S.D.
A resident of Beeville since about 1967, he retired from the U.S. Navy as a lieutenant commander and was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the  Vietnam War. He served as an aviator from 1942 until 1970. His tours of duty included California, Florida, Hawaii, Japan and  Texas.
Survivors include his wife, Genevieve Graves of Beeville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Roberta and Tom Nolan of Longmont,  Colo., and Linda and Nick Scheuer of Onalaska, Wis.; a son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Cathy Graves of West Chester, Ohio; and three grandchildren, Kristen and Michael Nolan of Longmont,  Colo., and Allison Graves of West Chester, Ohio.
Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society.

Harless
Norbert “Buddy” Harless, 74, of Kingsville died at 6:01 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, in a Corpus Christi hospital.
The funeral was held at 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Three Rivers, with the Rev. Sam McBee officiating.
Burial followed in the Three Rivers Cemetery. Pallbearers were Darren Harless, Don Harless, Bobby Greaves, Freddie Avalos, Earl Snelling, Mike Seidel, Todd Seidel, Ricky Jordan and Archie Haley. Honorary pallbearer was Dub Benjamin.
Mr. Harless was born Aug. 14, 1927, in Kenedy to Olivia (Fairchild) and Walter Harless. He served with the U.S. Army in Korea during the Korean War, attaining the rank of sergeant. He was a retired inspector for the  Texas Parks and Wildlife Department
Survivors include a son, Kle Harless and wife Darlene of Three Rivers; two daughters, Glenda Gibson and husband Paul of Alice and Donna Murray and husband Jimmy of Falcon Heights; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three brothers, Walter Harless of Cibolo, Jeff Harless of Schertz and Charles Harless of Alice; and one sister, Connie Sayler of Georgetown.

McMahan
Mary Nell McMahan, 81, of Beeville died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, in Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville.
Mrs. McMahan was born April 10, 1920, in Edna to Ida H. (Harris) and Harry Booth. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist church. Her husband, Emil McMahan, preceded her in death.
Survivors include two grandchildren, Debbie O’Brien of Beeville and Jesse Arms of Normanna; and three sisters, Iva Booth of Beeville, Nettie Kaad of Tulsa, Okla., and Betty Posey of Houma, La.

Valdez
Margarita Martinez Valdez, 81, of Beeville died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002. She was born here on Aug. 1, 1920, to Jose Sr. and Florinda (Soliz) Martinez. She was a homemaker and a member of the Pentecostal church.
Survivors include two daughters, Florinda “Flo” Paredez and husband Cruz and Mary Travieso, all of San Antonio; four sons, Severo Valdez Jr. and wife Hope of Mesquite, Raul Valdez and wife Dolores of Houston, Joe Valdez and wife Dora of Richmond and Johnny Valdez of Beeville; three sisters, Maria Longoria of Sinton, Virginia Guajardo of Beeville and Dorita DeLeon of San Diego; three brothers, Isabel Martinez of Beeville, Jose Martinez Jr. of San Angelo and Rogelio Martinez of Lubbock; 18 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Severo Valdez Sr., on Jan. 20, 1998.
A prayer service was held at 7 p.m. Monday at the Treviño Funeral Home chapel. The funeral was conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Iglesia Pentecostal Monte Del Olivar, with Pastor Jesse De La Garza officiating.
Burial followed in San Pedro Cemetery in the Clareville community. Pallbearers were Edward Paredez, Raul Valdez Jr., Ronnie Valdez, Michael Hernandez, Joe Valdez Jr. and Johnny Valdez Jr.

Gonzales
County Commissioner Adam V. Gonzales, 74, died Friday, June 28, 2002, after a long battle with cancer.
Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Treviño Funeral Home chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with full military honors. Father Richard Gonzales will officiate. Pallbearers will be Sylvia Alvarado, Ovidio Gonzales, Joe B. Montez, John Contreras, Hector Martinez and Charlie Rendon.
Mr. Gonzales was born on April 21, 1928, in Sugar Land to Tiburcio and Josefa (Valadez) Gonzales. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He served Bee County as Precinct 1 commissioner from Jan. 1, 1967, through Dec. 31, 1989, then as Precinct 2 justice of the peace from Jan. 1, 1991, through Aug. 31, 1995. He had served as county commissioner again from Jan. 1, 1997, until his death.
He was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Holy Name Society, Cursillistas, Bee County Democratic Party, League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), South  Texas County Judges and County Commissioners Association,  Texas County Judges and County Commissioners Association, National Association of County Commissioners, American Legion Post 0345 and  Texas Association of Counties. He had represented Bee County on the Coastal Bend Council of Governments since Sept. 27, 1999, and was appointed to the City Parks Improvement Project Study Group on Feb. 10, 1997. Mr. Gonzales was also a sponsor this year for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Manuel V. Gonzales.
He is survived by his wife, Andrea Salazar Gonzales of Beeville; two daughters, Amie (Arturo) Gaitan of Beeville and Alicia Geraldine “G.G.” (Donald)  Jackson of Sealy; four grandchildren; two nieces; and five nephews.
