ATKINSON
Mollie Brooks Atkinson, widow of John R. Atkinson, died Friday, December 14, 2001. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Brooke Paige Atkinson, and is survived by her children, Diana Raulerson of Jacksonville, Fla., Roger Atkinson of Bracey, Va., Sharon Cook of Glen Allen, and Bob Atkinson of Chesterfield; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Atkinson was a member of Zoar Baptist Church in Deltaville. The family will receive friends 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd., where services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday. Interment Greenwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Zoar Baptist Church.

BARNES
Mrs. Ruby Harris Barnes, 84, widow of Charlie H. Barnes Sr., passed away at her residence in Petersburg, Va. She was a native of Appomattox, Va., but had resided in Petersburg for the past 60 years, and was the daughter of the late, Tandy Douglas and Edna W. Burge Harris. Mrs. Barnes was a lifelong member of the former High Street United Methodist Church, and was a retired employee from the former C.F. Lauterbach's, Petersburg. She is survived by two sons, Charlie H. Barnes Jr. and wife, Barbara of Midlothian, Clyde R. Barnes of Richmond; three grandsons, Kevin T. Barnes and wife, Sarah of Roanoke, David H. Barnes and wife, Leigh of Richmond, C. Ryan Barnes, M.D. and wife, Denise of Richmond; one great-grandson, Carter T. Barnes of Roanoke; seven stepbrothers and five stepsisters. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, December 18, 2001 at 11 a.m. in the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, with the Rev. Harry Byrd Jones officiating. Interment will be in Southlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Prince George County. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Wesy Chappell, 1117 Ft. Hayes Dr., Petersburg, Va. 23805.

BRANDEIS
Gerda Gruen Brandeis of Richmond, widow of Arthur Brandeis, former co-owner of New York Delicatessen, died Sunday, December 16, 2001. She is survived by her brother, Walter Gruen of Mexico City, Mexico. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 17, in Richmond Beth-El Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Beth Sholom Home.

COVINGTON
Virginia Kirsh Covington of Richmond passed away Saturday, December 15, 2001. Beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, she is survived by her husband of 55 years, John C. Covington; a son, Douglas Covington and wife, Donna; grandchildren, Don and Vicki Leftwich; four great-grandchildren, Tina, Alyssa, Jeremiah, and Justin; nieces, Robin Just and Lisa Kallman; four great-nieces, Jenny, Kelly, Caroline, and Holly. She was the devoted sister of the late Carolyn K. Rosenstein. Virginia (Ginna) will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. She was born on October 22, 1915. Virginia worked as a bookkeeper at Sunlight Laundry and fulfilled her love for children working at the Richmond Child Care Center. She and her husband co-owned Par's Cleaners in Church Hill. Virginia was a volunteer at Retreat Hospital for the past 13 years. Throughout her life she helped many in need and touched many lives. The family will receive friends 3 to 4:30 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., where services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, December 19. Interment in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

CRITTENDON
John H. Crittendon of 1514 Wentbridge Rd., died December 15, 2001. Remains rest at Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd. Funeral notice later.

DABNEY
Thomas L. Dabney of Goochland, Va., departed this life Sunday, December 16, 2001 at McGuire VA Hospital. Remains rest at the Robert Mealy Funeral Home, Goochland. Funeral notice later.

FINOTTI
Catherine Ficklin "Bobbie" Finotti, 88, widow and devoted wife of Joseph V. Finotti, both native Washingtonians (D.C.), died December 15, 2001. Mrs. Finotti was a resident of Mechanicsville, Va., and was a retired LPN. She is survived by two daughters, Cathy M. Hall and husband, Otis L. Hall, and Helene F. Horne and husband, Dave Horne; one son, Joseph M. Finotti and wife, Faith Finotti; ten grandchildren, Lauren Sienko, Maj. Ronald Dennard, David Dennard, Tammy Wright, Sunny McGann, Caroline Ott, Jon Horne, Diana Finotti, Shaye Kisitu, Joey Finotti; seven great-grandchildren, Kloyce and Nic Dennard, Coleman and Jacob Wright, Aidan McGann, Taylor and McKenna Finotti; one sister, Theodora (Dolly) Krout; several nieces and nephews. Remains rest at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd., where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, December 17, 2001. Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. at the Church of the Redeemer on Tuesday, December 18, 2001. Interment at 3 p.m. in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Washington, D.C.

FOGG
James Randolph Fogg, age 87, of Oak Grove, widower of Opal McLain Fogg and Virginia Herndon Fogg, died on Sunday, December 16, 2001. Mr. Fogg was a timber broker and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, having served as Deacon and Trustee for many years. He was Past President for the Westmoreland Ruritan Club and served as Zone Governor; a member of Masonic Lodge #11, AF&AM, Richmond and the ACCA Temple. He is survived by three sons, James Randolph Fogg Jr. of Newnan, Ga., Robert Gordon Fogg of Bowling Green and Ricky Herndon Fogg of Oak Grove; one daughter, Shelby Fogg Dawson of Mechanicsville; eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren; also one brother, Louis Overton Fogg of Mechanicsville; and a sister, Shirley Fogg Schools of Mechanicsville. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 19, at 1 p.m. at the Oak Grove Baptist Church with burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Richmond. Family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Welch Funeral Home, Montross. Memorial contributions may be made to the Oak Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, 8096 Leedstown Rd., Colonial Beach, Va. 22443 or the charity of your choice.

GREEN
Oscar Pryor Green Sr., died Sunday, December 16, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Rosanne A. Green; three sons, Oscar Pryor Green Jr., Nathan J. and wife, Laura J. Green and Bernard A. Kandrac; one grandson, Daniel Pryor Green; one brother, Col. Ray G. Green (Ret. USAF); several nieces and nephews. Mr. Green was retired from the Henrico County School System after many years of service. Remains rest at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd., where the family will receive friends 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 19, 2001 from the Village Presbyterian Church, 110 N. Laburnum Ave. Interment in Signal Hill Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Virginia Heart Institute or King William Volunteer Rescue Squad.

HALL
Lawrence E. "L.E." Hall, 82, of Moseley, passed away Saturday, December 15, 2001. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary G. Hall; and by a foster son, Jeffrey Green. He is survived by his son, L. Nick Hall and his wife, Judy of Moseley; and two foster daughters, Crystal Cox and Pam Umholtz; two sisters, Mozelle Sims of Moseley, and Viola Hall of Amelia; four grandchildren, Ginger, Jane, Nick Jr. and Sam; and three great-grandchildren, Lacey Nichole, Jeffrey Dillion and Hunter Edward; and numerous nieces and nephews, with a host of special friends and family members. Mr. Hall was a veteran of World War II. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull St. Rd., where the family will receive friends Tuesday, 2 to 4 and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 3 p.m. at Skinquarter Baptist Church. Interment church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Skinquarter Baptist Church Building Fund.

HENDERSON
Mrs. Annie Henry Henderson of 1209 Deer Run Rd., Halifax, Va., died December 15, 2001 at Halifax Regional Hospital. She was born in Pittsylvania County, Va. on March 17, 1903 and was 98 years old. She was the daughter of Mr. Charlie W. Henry and Mrs. Virginia Walton Henry, and was married to Oscar H. Henderson. She was a member of the Oak Level Presbyterian Church and the Thomas Carter Chapter of the National Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR). Mrs. Annie Henry Henderson is survived by one son, Ray F. Henderson of Richmond; three grandsons, Ned C. Henderson Jr. of South Boston, Ray F. Henderson Jr. of Birmingham, Ala., and Vincent H. Henderson of Richmond; one granddaughter, Elizabeth (Betsye) Throckmorton of Scottsburg; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Ryland Walton Henderson and Ned Carter Henderson Sr. Services for Mrs. Annie Henry Henderson will be held Tuesday, December 18, at 1 p.m. at Oak Level Presbyterian Church with the Rev. David Kilpatrick conducting the service. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home Monday, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and other times at her home, 1209 Deer Run Rd., Halifax. For memorials, please consider the memorial fund of the Oak Level Presbyterian Church. Arrangements are by Powell Funeral Home, South Boston, Va.

JOHNSON
John Thomas Johnson Jr., 84, of Chase City, died December 15, 2001. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Johnson, and is survived by three sons, John Thomas Johnson III of Moyock, N.C., Albert Johnson of Stone Mountain, Ga., and Mark Johnson of Chase City, Va.; one sister, two brothers, one sister-in-law, four grandchildren, one great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Newcomb Allgood Davis Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, 11 a.m. at Woodland Cemetery, with Rev. Ann Davidson officiating.

JONES
Nellie V. Jones, 91, of Ashland, died December 14, 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Jones; and her sons, Charles L., John F. Sr., and William A. Jones. She is survived by her daughter, Lynda Feathers of Richmond; her sister, Mae Hall of Ashland; four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Reid Funeral Home, 412 S. Washington Hwy., Ashland. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Woodland Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to Gwathmey Baptist Church or the Ashland Volunteer Rescue Squad.

KIRBY
Grady C. Kirby, 49, of Richmond, died on Saturday, December 15, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Sandra E. Kirby; four sons, Grady Jr., Anthony, Richie and Shane Kirby; his mother, Mildred Byrd Kirby; a devoted sister, Sharleen Kirby; four grandchildren; and one devoted nephew, Timothy Kirkland. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull St. Rd., where the family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday. Services private.

LINGER
Lee Otto Linger, 76, of Glen Allen, died Saturday, December 15, 2001. He was preceded in death by his son, Lee Otto Linger Jr. and is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marge Linger; a son, Ron Linger; and a daughter, Shirley Joyce; three grandchildren, Joshua and Sara Linger, and Amanda Rae Calvert; two great-grandchildren, Tristan and Taryn Linger. Mr. Linger was an employee of Richmond Motor Co., a Navy veteran of World War II, and a member of the American Legion. His family will receive friends Sunday and Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd., where services will be conducted 3 p.m. Tuesday. Interment Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
