Donita Faye Surrett

DANTE -- Funeral services for Donita Faye Surrett will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Hamlin Baptist Church at Hamlin by Castlewood Funeral Home. The Revs. Charles Weatherford and Estol Amburgey will officiate. Burial will be in Temple Hill Memorial Park in Castlewood.
Mrs. Surrett, 35, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, in Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center in Kingsport from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
She was born in Ohio, a daughter of Jerry and Frances Donita Surrett of Dante. She had lived in Dante for the past 20 years and attended Castlewood High School.
Surviving, besides her parents, are a daughter, Amber Surrett of Dante; a brother, Shannon Surrett of Dante; her maternal grandmother, Helen Mullins of St. Paul; and several nieces and nephews.
Among survivors are several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Travis Mullins, Dave Woods, Robbie Proffitt, Curtis Mullins, Jeff Mullins, Charles Jennings and Victor Hall.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday in the church.
Castlewood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Warren Taber

DORAN, Va. -- Warren Taber, 82, died Sunday, Feb. 12, 2000, in a Richlands hospital.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Hurst-Scott Funeral Home of Richlands.

Kermit W. Thomas Sr.

DAMASCUS -- Kermit W. Thomas Sr., 59, of 649 Damascus Drive, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000, at his home.
He was born in Tazewell, a son of the late Mart and Mary Thomas. He had lived in Washington County, Va., most of his life and was a farmer.
Surviving are his wife, Virgie M. Thomas; five daughters, Patsy Green of Chilhowie, Rachel Thomas, April Sue Thomas and Pauline Thomas, all of the home, and Angel Thomas of Glade Spring; a son, Kermit Thomas Jr. of Glade Spring; five sisters, Ann Harr and Thelma Harris, both of Bristol Tennessee, June Hayden of Saltville, Nancy Toon of Damascus and Betty Joe Compton of Crockett; four brothers, Robert Thomas of Rural Retreat, Roger Thomas and Sonny Thomas, both of Wytheville, and Elmer Thomas of Blountville; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Mark BaumGardner will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Glade Spring.
Pallbearers will be Fred Thomas, Kermit Thomas Jr., Larry Thomas, Stuart Thomas, Travis Thomas and Robert Coe. Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Barlow, J.W. Moretz, Gregorio Ceberino, Robert Thomas, Robert Coram and Joe Thomas.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday in Johnson Funeral Home.

Jewel B. Wagner

Graveside services for Jewel Booher Wagner will be Monday at 2 p.m. in Mountain View Mausoleum Chapel. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
Jewel Booher Wagner, 93, of 7359 Pin Oak Circle, Bristol, Va., died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
Honorary pallbearers will be Fred Green, John Byrd, Mack Byrd, Bill Maiden and Charlie Green.
Weaver Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Melissa Wolfe

WEBER CITY, Va. -- Melissa Ellen Greear Wolfe, 82, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000, in Brian Center in Weber City.
She was born in Scott County, a daughter of the late Leonard and Lelia Osborne Greear. She was the widow of Robert "Bob" Wolfe. She was a homemaker and attended Dungannon Freewill Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Weber City.
Surviving are two sons, Bobby Ray Wolfe of Church Hill, Tenn., and Robert L. Wolfe of Gate City; two daughters, Peggy Darnell of Weber City and Mrs. Gerald (Joretta) Bishop of Elyria, Ohio; a brother, Jack Greear of Kingsport; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 8 p.m. in Colonial Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Dean Smith and Mark Dance will officiate. Music will be by Salley's Chapel Quartet. Graveside services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Holston View Cemetery in Weber City. Those attending should meet at the funeral home at 10 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery.
Mrs. Wolfe was also preceded in death by three brothers, Earl Greear, Carl Greear and Ross Greear; two sisters, Myrtle Wolfe and Lola McConnell; and son-in-law Sam Darnell.
Among survivors are daughters-in-law Dorothy Wolfe of Church Hill and Yetta Wolfe of Gate City; grandchildren Jackie Broadwater, Karen Jennings, Gary Wolfe, Lynn Wolfe, Barry Wolfe, Jody Wolfe, Steven Bishop and Greg Bishop; and great-grandchildren Lori McConnell, Tracy Broadwater, Stacy Jennings, Kayla Jennings, Ryan Wolfe, Cassidy Wolfe, Avery Allen Wolfe, Alexis Bishop, Rachel Bishop and Allie Bishop.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Wolfe, Larry Greear, Gary Wolfe, Lynn Wolfe, Barry Wolfe, Jody Wolfe, Steven Bishop and Greg Bishop.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home or any time at the home of a daughter, Peggy Darnell, Poplar Street, Weber City.
Colonial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Carl S. Worley

Funeral services for Carl Snapp Worley will be conducted Monday at 3 p.m. in Fellowship Chapel Church by Akard Funeral Home. The Revs. Lester MacKinnon, Scott Price and Howard Robinson will officiate. Burial will be in Susong Cemetery.
Mr. Worley, 76, of Bristol Virginia died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, in Wellmont Hospice House.
Among survivors are a great-granddaughter, Missy Devite of Bristol Virginia; a stepdaughter, Mary Ann Martin of Damascus; and a step-granddaughter, Shelia Devite of Bristol Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Danny Fee, Jules Fee, Marvin Farmer, Ronnie Bellamy, Michael Tolbert, Gary Tolbert, Kenneth Tester and Ray Marshall. Honorary pallbearers will be Herbert Carrier, Haskell Carrier, Jerry Vencill, Harold Wells, the Rev. E.W. Ely, Ralph Pendergrass and Ronnie Fuller.
Akard Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Verner G. Adams

MAX MEADOWS, Va. -- Verner Gilmer Adams, 78, of Route 2, Fort Chiswell Community, died Monday, Feb. 14, 2000, in Edgemont Health Care Center.
He was born in Wythe County, a son of the late George Washington Adams and Etta Kyle Armbrister Adams. He was the widower of Lorraine Kathleen "Cotton" Adams, a member of St. Paul Pentecostal Holiness Church and retired from the New Jersey Zinc Co.
Surviving are his wife, Celesta Adams of Dublin; a daughter, Peggy Henley of Max Meadows; three sons, Gilmer Adams of Austinville and Don Adams and James Adams, both of Max Meadows; three sisters, Reva Hibbs of Max Meadows and Doris Patton and Sadie Jackson, both of Pulaski; two brothers, Bill Adams and Curtis Adams, both of Maryland; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Barnett Funeral Chapel in Wytheville. The Revs. James and Connie Black will officiate. Burial will be in Draper Valley Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Barnett Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be sent to the Lead Mines Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 502, Austinville, VA 24312.

Ruth Amato

Ruth Blevins Amato, 90, of 510 Godsey Road, Bristol, Tenn., died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000, in Wellmont Hospice House.
She was born in Bristol and lived most of her adult life in New York. She was the widow of William Amato.
Surviving are a daughter, Evelyn La Croix of Bristol Tennessee; a brother, Jay Blevins of Bristol Tennessee; a sister, Hattie Hornsby of Orangeburg, S.C.; a grandson, Steven M. La Croix of Plano, Texas; three granddaughters, Kate La Croix, Carrie La Croix and Michelle La Croix, all of Planto; three nieces; and three nephews.
Funeral services will be private.
Among survivors are several cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Woodlawn Baptist Church, 1400 Southside Ave., Bristol, TN 37620.

Aaron Breeding

KINGSPORT -- Aaron Fillmore Breeding, 89, of Dorothy Street, died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2000, in Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center in Kingsport.
He was born in Dickenson County. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II, a graduate of Lincoln Memorial University in 1936 and retired as a school teacher after more than 36 years of teaching at Ervinton (Va.) High School. He was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are his wife, Velma Sutherland Breeding; two daughters, Kelly B. Beran of Greeneville, Tenn., and Lillie Carol B. Tesch of Barrett, Minn.; four sons, Albert K. Breeding of Castlewood, James H. Breeding of Spotsylvania, Richard B. Breeding of Dante and Terry Breeding of Hickory, N.C.; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
military graveside services will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Oak Hill Cemetery by Charles DeWitt Byrd VFW Post 3382. Those attending should meet at the graveside at 10:55 a.m.
Mr. Breeding was preceded in death by his parents, four children and a sister.
Pallbearers will be VFW Color Guard.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport, or any time at the residence, 1126 Dorothy St.
Carter-Trent Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
