Will A. Jenkins

APPALACHIA -- Will A. Jenkins died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Gilliam Funeral Home in Big Stone Gap, Va.

Henry F. Jessee

CHILHOWIE -- Henry F. Jessee, 77, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, in Valley Health Care Center in Chilhowie.
He was a son of the late Fred W. and Mary Ward Jessee, and was a former resident of Bristol Virginia and Russell County, Va. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 82nd Airborne Division, and was a retired coal miner and carpenter in Russell County.
Surviving are a sister, Russell Breeding of Clinchfield, Va.; two brothers, Frank Jessee of Bristol Virginia and Glen Jessee of Lebanon; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 1 p.m. in Lebanon Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Roy Lee Wilson will officiate. Burial will be in Russell Memorial Cemetery with military honors by Lebanon VFW Post 9864.
Mr. Jessee was also preceded in death by a sister, Margaret J. Hall; and three brothers, Paul Jessee, Woodrow Jessee and Clerence Sylvin Jessee.
Pallbearers will be Gary Jessee, Wes Jessee, Franklin Jessee, Jason Jessee, Med Stevens, Dual Rasnake and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday in Lebanon Funeral Home.

Robert E. Koehler

BLUFF CITY -- Funeral services for Robert E. Koehler will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. in Glenwood Mausoleum Chapel by Weaver Funeral Home of Bristol, Tenn. Pastor Larry E. Ball will officiate.
Mr. Koehler, 78, of 373 Sycamore Drive, died at his home.
There will be no visitation in Weaver Funeral Home.

William S. Looney

VANCE, Ala. -- William S. Looney, 33, formerly of Buchanan County, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2000, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Vance.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Grundy Funeral Home.

Joe L. Mason Jr.

Funeral services for Joe L. Mason Jr. will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. in Glenwood Mausoleum Chapel by Weaver Funeral Home. Dr. Ross Dampier will officiate.
Mr. Mason, 72, of 424 Marywood Drive, Bristol, Tenn., died Monday, Jan. 31, 2000, at his home.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dave Jones, Dick Hamilton, Hadley Pobst, Joy Taylor, "Puck" Kiser and Harold Riley.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Bristol Heart Association, P.O. Box 544, Bristol, VA 24203-0544.
Weaver Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mildred McGuire

ABINGDON -- Mildred McGuire, 102, formerly of Cedar Bluff, died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2000, in an Abingdon nursing home.
She was born in Cedar Bluff, a daughter of the late J. Edd and Margaret Fielding McGuire, both Tazewell County natives.
After graduating from College Hill High School in Cedar Bluff and attending King College in Bristol, Tenn., she attended the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. She returned to Cedar Bluff, where she taught music for five years, teaching third grade and teaching music privately after school hours. She continued to teach for 33 years in the Tazewell County School System before retiring. She was the oldest living Virginia state employee.
She was a member of Cedar Bluff Presbyterian Church, where she played the organ and piano, and was a former member of Cedar Bluff Order of the Eastern Star. She became a resident at Cedar Lawn Nursing Home in Abingdon, where she played the piano for sing-alongs and church services.
Surviving are two nieces, Patricia Hall Coggins and Penny H. Bartlett; two nephews, H.W. Woodhouse Jr., and R.M. Woodhouse; and two great-nieces, Linda Brown Rivelis and Suzanne Brown.
Memorial services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands. The Rev. Eddie Nash will officiate. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery in Tazewell, Va.
Miss McGuire was also preceded in death by a sister, Helen McGuire; a brother, Robert "Bob" McGuire; and a foster brother, John D. Brown Jr.
Among survivors are a host of friends, neighbors, former students and acquaintances who were endeared to her by her cheerfulness and sweet smile. They will always lovingly remember "Miss Mildred."
She was very active in the community and attended all of the activities at the nursing home, and was very helpful with the other residents. Her love of nature and animals was evident as she daily fed the birds who visited the courtyard.
Memorial contributions may be sent to Cedar Bluff Presbyterian Church, Box 746, Cedar Bluff, VA 24609.
Hurst-Scott Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Gary Dean Pennington

BLOUNTVILLE -- Gary Dean Pennington, of 276 Buncomb Road, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Weaver Funeral Home in Bristol, Tenn.

William A. Powers

ATKINS, Va. -- William Allen Powers, 53, died at his home.
He was a son of Beulah Davis Taylor and the widower of Frances Powers.
Surviving, besides his mother, are two sisters, Janet Haley and Becky Parks, both of Marion; four brothers, Jeff Powers of Sugar Grove, Va., Edward Powers of South Carolina, Harley Haga of Kingsport and Wayne Haga of Radford, Va.; several nieces and nephews; a great-niece; and a great-nephew.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. in Barnett's Marion Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. David Neitch will officiate. Burial will be in Thomas Cemetery.
Among survivors are a special great-niece, Jessica Sexton; and a special great-nephew, Nathan Quillen.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday in Barnett's Marion Funeral Home.

Veta Mae Price

ROGERSVILLE, Tenn. -- Veta Mae Willis Price, 76, of 517 Skyview Drive, died Saturday, Feb, 5, 2000, at her home.
She was a daughter of the late George Washington Willis and Mollie Jaynes Willis, and was a member of East Rogersville Baptist Church.
She was the widow of Elisha D. Price.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. James H. (Marcia P.) Manis; two grandchildren, Julie Ann Manis and James E. "Jimmy" Manis; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday in Rogersville.
Colboch-Price Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Betty H. Roche

ABINGDON -- Memorial services for Betty Hartenhoff Roche will be conducted Sunday at 3:30 p.m. in Colonial Chapel Mausoleum in Forest Hills Memory Gardens. The Rev. Bob Krenik and pastor Frank Honeycutt will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Roche, 73, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2000, in Johnston Memorial Hospital.
Farris Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Gary W. Rogers

Gary Wayne Rogers, 44, of 2160 Fifth St., Bristol, Tenn., died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, in Wellmont Hospice House.
He was born in Bristol Tennessee, a son of Therman and Gloria Rogers, and was a U.S. Army veteran.
Surviving, besides his parents, are a daughter, Jessica Rogers of Jensen Beach, Fla.; a son, Jessee Rogers of Jensen Beach; three sisters, Dorothy Crain and Louise Riner, both of Bristol Tennessee, and Shirley Ketron of Bluff City; three nieces; and three nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 8 p.m. in Weaver Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Howard Campbell will officiate. Graveside services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in Sunrise Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Fricker, Jimmy Roberts, Bobby Roberts, Tracy Barber, Harold Ketron and Dr. Greg Clarity.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday in Weaver Funeral Home.

George W. Slagle

LIMESTONE, Tenn. -- George Washington "G.W." Slagle, 80, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, at his home.
He was born in LImestone, a son of the late George Washington and Lucy Reed Slagle, and was the widower of Naomi Sluss Slagle.
Mr. Slagle served as a minister for almost 60 years. He was a pastor and an evangelist in North Carolina, Kentucky, West Virginia, Alabama and Tennessee, and was a member of Limestone Church of the Brethren.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Bill (Dorothy) Osborne in Weber City, Va.; two sons, Earl Slagle of Florida and Steve Slagle of Afton, Tenn.; a sister, Mary Armentrout of Telford; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday in Limestone.
