MADELINE BONYEA

ST. ALBANS - Madeline Bonyea, 65, passed away unexpectedly Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, at her residence on Lake Street. She was born in Plymouth, N.H. on Oct. 28, 1936, the daughter of Alex and Ruth (Sawyer) MacDonald. She was the widow of Edwin H. Bonyea who died on Dec.19, 2000.

Madeline loved doing puzzles, playing cards and photography.

Survivors include her two brothers and their wives; Hilson and Yoka MacDonald of Bordentown, N.J. and Henry and Rebecca MacDonald of New Hampton, N.H.; a sister; Alice Pefine of Melrose, Mass., special friends; Frank, Judy, Michael, and Katie Zsoldos of St. Albans and her caregiver; Kim Elwood of St. Albans. She was predeceased by a brother; Charles MacDonald and three sisters; Gertrude MacDonald, Jessie Weigen, and Christine MacDonald.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002 at 2 p.m. in Holy Angels Catholic Church with the Reverend Maurice Roy as celebrant. There will be no calling hours. A reception will follow the service in the Activities Room of Holy Angels Housing, 251 Lake St. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Franklin County Home Health Agency, 3 Home Health Circle, St. Albans, Vt. 05478. Arrangements are by the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main St., St. Albans.

ELDON F. ELWOOD

MILTON -- Eldon Fay Elwood, 66, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Milton.

Eldon was born on March 17, 1935, in Fairfield, the son of Gordon and Marion (Chadwick) Elwood.

On Aug. 24, in 1957, Eldon married Mary Rose Louise Gregoire at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Fairfield. He and Rose resided in Milton since 1959.

Eldon was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving his country with the U.S. Marine Corp. He was very active in his church and community. He volunteered as a Village Trustee and Auditor for many years. He was a former Jaycee in Milton.

He was a lieutenant in the Milton Fire Dept. beginning in 1960. He was instrumental in starting the 1st Rescue Squad in Milton, operating out of his garage on Main Street.

He loved working with children and teaching fire prevention in the area schools, and in being a mentor to the children in the Milton School System. He volunteered for years working Bingo for St. Ann's and the Milton Fire Dept.

He was a very active member of St. Ann's, serving as one of the first lay Ministers and Eucharistic Ministers. He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus and served as Deputy Grand Knight, for the Dan Roberts Council #10417.

Eldon started the girls softball league and enjoyed being a member of the bowling league in Milton.

He was a manager at IBM retiring in 1987.

Eldon is survived by his wife Rose of over 44 years; and by their children Lori and Lennie LaCroix of Milton, Marie and Jeff Warner of Essex Junction, Sandee and Ken Kern of Essex Jct., and Jule and Wes Calloway of Hillsboro, Ore.; by his grandchildren Erin, Lindsay and Josh LaCroix, Jodie and Joanna Warner, Brittney and Alex Kern, and Taylor, Joshua, Tannor and Travis Calloway; by his brothers and sisters Mary Parent of Enosburg, Gordon Elwood, Jr. and his wife Terry of Swanton, Floyd Elwood and his wife Betty of Sherman, Texas, Alyda Carpenter and her husband Carty of Enosburg, Ilene Cooper of Richford, Carolyn Bushey and her husband Raymond of Sheldon Jct.; and by several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brother-in-law Gerard Parent.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002, at 10 a.m. in St. Ann's Catholic Church in Milton. Burial will follow in St. Ann's Cemetery.

Contributions in Eldon's memory may be made to the Milton Fire Dept., c/o Randy Cary, P.O. Box 114, Milton, Vt. 05468.

Visiting hours will be held Monday, Feb. 25, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Minor Funeral Home with a wake service at 8 p.m.

Arrangements are by the Minor Funeral Home.

WILLIAM H. HEATH III

GEORGIA -- William H. Heath III, 58 of Sandy Birch Road, died Wednesday evening, Feb. 20, 2002, at his home in Georgia.

William was born Feb. 2, 1944, in Chester Depot, the son of the late William and Marion McColough Heath. On Nov. 5, 1977, he was married to Cindy Mazza in Milton.

A resident of Milton since 1978, Bill worked as a Maintenance Technician for the Burlington Housing Authority.

Bill is survived by his wife, Cindy, of Georgia. His children, Thomas Heath of Georgia, William Heath IV and his wife, Melinda, of Florida, Pernell Heath of Colchester, and Travis Heath of New Jersey; as well as several grandchildren. His brothers, James Levanway of Jonesville, Percy Smith and his wife, Betty, of Washington, Gordon Smith of Greensboro; his sisters, Virginia Heath of Burlington, Mary Senesac of Florida, Marilyn Martin of Florida, and Norma Jean Young and her husband, Jim, of Georgia. His sisters-in-law, Jo Mazza of Milton, DiAnne Rivers and her husband, Arnold, of Georgia and Cathy Mazza of Georgia; and his brother-in-law Ernest Dinsmore.

Funeral services were private and burial was held in St. Ann's Cemetery in Milton on Thursday, Feb. 21. Bearers were Michael Devino, Ernest Dinsmore, Gene Dumas, Thomas Heath, and Aaron and Arnold Rivers.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association, Vermont Affiliate, Inc., 77 Hegeman Ave., Colchester, Vt., 05446.

Arrangements were by the Minor Funeral Home of Milton.

AMELIA MARIE BLAIR

ALBURG -- Mrs. Amelia Marie Blair, 94, a lifetime resident of the Alburg Community, died Tuesday morning, Feb. 19, 2002, in the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans City.

She was born in Sciota, N.Y., July 30, 1907, the daughter of the late John and Virginia (Blair) Duchaine. She was married to George Blair who predeceased her on July 16, 1982.

Mrs. Blair was a longtime devoted parishioner of St. Amadeus Roman Catholic Church as well as a member of the Island In The Sun Senior Citizens and was well known for her love of bingo and cards.

She leaves three daughters, Theresa and Georgette Aylward of Alburg and Goldie Cadieux of Fairfax. Mrs. Blair leaves eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by three sons-in-law, Arthur and Stanley Aylward and Norman Cadieux; four brothers, John, Joseph, Charles, and William Duchaine; and four sisters, Virginia Pelkey, Mary Boutah, Alma Goodale, and Angelina Patenaude.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, at 11 a.m. from St. Amadeus Roman Catholic Church, Main Street, Alburg Village. The pastor, Father Maurice U. Boucher, SSE, will be the celebrant and homilist. Interment will follow in the family lot in St. Amadeus Cemetery. Friends may call at the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002, from 3 to 6 p.m. Gifts in Mrs. Blair's memory may be made to the Alburg Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue, Inc., P.O. 223, Alburg, Vt. 05440, or to the charity of ones choice.

AMY LYNN BOISSONNEAULT

ST. ALBANS/FAIRFAX -- Amy Lynn Boissonneault, 35, of St. Albans, formerly of Fairfax, died peacefully of Breast Cancer on Monday evening, Feb. 18, 2002, at her home in St. Albans in the presence of her family and friends.

Amy was born July 18, 1966, in St. Albans, the daughter of Giles and Carol Gaboury Boissonneault. She graduated from Bellows Free Academy in Fairfax in 1984. She then went on to study at Quinnipiac College in New Haven, Conn. graduating with a degree in Legal Studies.

In 1990, Amy joined with dozens of others in trying to rescue babies from abortion in Vermont. For this effort she spent three months in jail. This experience solidified her devotion to the unborn and she spent the rest of her life working for the protection of mothers and babies. She rescued, sidewalk counseled, picketed and prayed. In 1996, she moved to New Jersey, where she worked for Good Counsel Homes, a network of crisis pregnancy centers and for Thomas Faranda and Associates in Financial Planning. While there she was also active in a young singles Catholic group in New York City.

Amy was an avid traveler and made many trips and pilgrimages across North America and Europe to include Italy, France and Ireland. She also enjoyed art, poetry, writing letters, summer sunsets at the lake, snowstorms, gardening, Jane Austen movies and New York City.

Amy will be remembered for the things she treasured most. Her strong faith in Jesus Christ, her love of the church and its saints and her family and friends. She enriched the lives of so many with her inner beauty and contagious smile. Her love of life and dedication to others were an inspiration to all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her parents, Giles and Carol Boissonneault of St. Albans; her sister, Lori Brunelle and her husband Michael of Burlington; her two brothers, Jay Boissonneault and his wife Cathy of Swanton and Eric Boissonneault and his wife Colleen of Jeffersonville. Her nephews, Brendon, Bryant and Brent Boissonneault all of Swanton; and her very special friends, Tom Marsich of Bronx, N.Y. and Laurie Hurley of Morrisville.

She also leaves her aunts and uncles, Pauline Cray of St. Albans, Robert and Jean Gaboury of Fairfax, Maurice and Marie Boissonneault of Johnson, Pauline and Stephen Ratte of Fairfax, Rene and Priscilla Boissoneault of Fairfax and George and Mary Boissoneault of St. Albans Bay. She is also survived by several cousins and numerous friends.

Visiting hours will be held at the home of Amy's aunt Pauline Cray located at 68/70 Fairfield St. in St. Albans on Wednesday, Feb. 20, from 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday, Feb. 21, from 1-5 and 7-9 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Feb. 22, at 11 a.m. in Holy Angels Catholic Church on Lake Street in St. Albans by the Reverend Fr. Maurice Roy. Burial will be in the Boissonneault Family lot in St. Luke's Cemetery in Fairfax in the spring.

Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made in Amy's memory to Good Counsel, P.O. Box 6068, Hoboken, N.J., 07030, or to the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal, c/o Fr. Benedict Groeschel, Box 55, Larchmont, N.Y., 10538.

Arrangements are by the Minor Funeral Home in Milton.

MORTON KING, JR.

ST. ALBANS -- Morton "Mort" King, age 65, died Monday evening, Feb. 18, 2002, in the Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington following a brief illness. He was born in St. Albans Jan. 26, 1937, son of Morton King, Sr. and the late Alydia (Sartwell) King.

Affectionately known as "Sonny" by his family, he graduated from Bellows Free Academy and was employed for many years at the Doubleday Furniture Store. Following the closure of the store. Mort spent a short time in the carpet business and later was employed as a guard at the Northwest State Correctional Facility, from where he retired. He served for several years in the Vermont National Guard. Mort was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge #1090 of St. Albans.

His many hobbies included drawing and picture painting, along with hunting, fishing, card playing and bowling. He will be remembered for having won prizes in the decoration of his home during the Christmas season.

Sonny is survived by his father Morton King, Sr., of St. Albans; his three sons David King, Geoffrey King and John King. He also leaves six sisters and their husbands Betty Potvin of Worchester, Mass., Barbara and Thomas Carpentier, Sally and Francis Walker, Norma and Rolland Oliver, Joyce Giroux all of St. Albans, Earlene and Frederick Demar of Fairfax; his two brothers and their wives Wendell and Holly King of St. Albans, Michael and Cheryl King of East Highgate; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his mother Alydia King on June 16, 2001; by two brothers-in-law Charles Potvin and Raymond Giroux; and a nephew Charles Potvin, Jr.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the Brady & Levesque Chapel. Pastor Oren Lane from St. Paul's Methodist Church, will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home, 86 South Main St. from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Interment will be next spring in the King family lot in Greenwood Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.

RONALD JASON SUNDERLAND

GEORGIA -- Ronald J. Sunderland, 86, a lifelong resident of this area, passed away peacefully Monday morning, Feb. 18, 2002, at Holiday House Nursing Facility. His loving family was at his side.

He was born in St. Albans, June 2, 1915, the son of the late Russell and Winnie (Newton) Sunderland. On Feb. 7, 1939, he married Charlotte E. Alexander in Georgia.

Ronald was a retired dairy farmer. He was a member and former deacon of the Georgia Plain Baptist Church. An avid fisherman, he also enjoyed bowling, golfing, cribbage and other card games and hunting. He was a graduate of Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans.

An active Rotarian, Ron was awarded the Paul Harris Fellow in July of 2001. He was a past member of the St. Albans Cooperative Creamery where he served on the board of directors for 20 years. He also served on the Kerbs Memorial Hospital Board, the Georgia School Board and was Auditor for the Town of Georgia. He will be remembered by many for delivering squash with his uncle, Jesse Sunderland throughout northern Vermont.

In addition to his wife of over 63 years, Charlotte, survivors include three daughters, Donna and her husband, Bill Crocker, and Bette Dunsmore, all of Georgia, and Barbara and her husband, Don Duffy of St. Albans; a sister and her husband, Katherine and Marvin Way of St. Albans; two brothers-in-law, James Pattee of Newport and Eldon LaPlant of Pittsfield, M.E. He also leaves 10 grandchildren; Todd, Russell and Jonathan Crocker, Stacy Baker, Amy Bennett, Brian and Bradley Dunsmore, Heather Young, Clayton Duffy, and Matthew Duffy; 12 great grandchildren, Kassandra, Andrew, Olivia, Kolby, Keannah and Kameron Dunsmore, Makayla and Hunter Young, Madison and Sierra Duffy, Thomas Baker and Solomon Bennett; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son-in-law, George M. Dunsmore on March 1, 1995, and a twin brother, Russell; sisters, Gladys Norris, Dorothy Pattee, Joyce LaPlant and Irene Pattee.

A funeral service will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. in the Georgia Plain Baptist Church. Pastor Steve Clark will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Georgia Plain Baptist Church Memorial Fund, c/o Alexis Bell, 2573 Plains Road, Milton, Vt., 05468. Interment will be this spring in the family lot in Georgia Plain Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main St., St. Albans.
