Robert 'Cowboy Bob' A. Abts
Robert "Cowboy Bob" A. Abts, 81, Bellevue resident, died Tuesday, February 1, 2005, at a local nursing home. He was born September 26, 1923, in the town of Rockland to the late Julian and Valentine (Piumbroeck) Abts. Bob married the former Rita Van Ess on May 22, 1946, at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church. He was employed by James River Corp. for 40 years retiring in 1985. Bob was one of the first volunteers for the Bellevue Fire Dept. where he proudly served for 30 years. He was a member of the Bellevue Lions Club and the Silver Horseshoe Riders. Bob was a member of St. Bernard's Parish.

He is survived by his wife Rita, three daughters and three sons-in-law Judy (Larry "Jug") Compton, Susan (Dan) Willems, all Green Bay; Brenda (Greg) Ludwig, De Pere; seven grandchildren, Candy, Brian, Paula, Roxie, Randy, Tricia and Bob; nine great-grandchildren Jacob, Cassie, Brandon, Alex, Bailey, Evan, Taylor, Ethan and Shawn; Susan's special friend, Steven Klein; four brothers and sisters-in-law Ralph (Ann) Abts, Denmark; John (Ruth) Abts, De Pere; Clayton (Shirley) Abts, Julian (Carol) Abts, all Green Bay; four sisters and four brothers-in-law Leona (Sy) Kaster, Ashwaubenon; Betty (Antone) Beyer, New Franken; Rosemary (Bud) Brosig, Green Bay; Beverly (Al) Schott, De Pere; two sisters-in-law Joyce Abts, De Pere; Marge Dollar, Green Bay.

He was preceded in death by one granddaughter Racheal; one great-granddaughter Isabelle; two sisters Dorothy Abts & Marie Dollar; one brother Norman Abts; one sister-in-law Linda Abts; one brother-in-law Chester Dollar.

Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home and Crematory, 1630 E. Mason St., from 4 Ð8 p.m. today and after 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 2040 Hillside Ln., until time of Mass. Parish Wake service 7 p.m. today. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church with Rev. Dave Pleier officiating. Entombment in the Allouez Chapel Mausoleum.

Carl Burkel
Carl Burkel, 66, Green Bay, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005, at his winter home in Mesa, Ariz. He was born Aug. 15, 1938, to Pearl and Art Burkel. He graduated from West High School. In 1959, he married Donna Laes. Carl's sense of humor and sunny disposition led to a successful career and personal life. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy and he enjoyed nothing more than being with them. After his retirement from Herlache Industrial Supply in 1992, he could often be seen at Sideline Sports Bar and Arthur's Steakhouse where he helped his son, Kevin manage the business affairs.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; two children, Mary Kay Collins and her husband, Tim, and Kevin Burkel and his wife, Susan; five grandchildren, Catie, Carolyn, Emily, Amelia and Evan; his mother, Pearl; two brothers, John "Jack" and Ken. Also surviving him are his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by all. He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur.

Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday. A Parish Wake Service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday. Friends may also call at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 413 Saint John St., from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with the Rev. John Doerfler officiating. Internment will be in Allouez Chapel Mausoleum.

Violet M. Greenwood
Violet M. Greenwood, 81, Rhinelander, formerly Green Bay. Visitation 10-11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church, 645 S. Irwin Ave. Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Survivors include one son, David (Susan) Greenwood, Rhinelander; two granddaughters; three great-grandsons. Schauer & Schumacher Funeral Home, 340 S. Monroe Ave., is assisting the family.

Gloria E. Dethardt
Gloria E. Dethardt, 78, Seymour. Visitation 5-8 p.m. today at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, 358 S. Main St., Seymour, and 10-11 a.m. Thursday at Seymour United Methodist Church, 721 Pleasant Way, Seymour. Funeral service 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Survivors include her husband, Ken; one son, Dale "Corky" (Patti) Dethardt, Seymour; one daughter, Denise (John) Schultz, Seymour; four grandchildren; one sister, Lucille Weaver, North Carolina.

Helen Geurts,
Helen Geurts, 93, lifelong resident of the Green Bay area, died Tuesday Feb. 1, 2005, at the home of her daughter, Mary J. Knuth. She was born May 24, 1911, in Mellen to the late Leo and Edna (Andersen) Doyle. On Oct. l9, 1933, she married Raphael J. Geurts at St. Boniface Catholic Church in De Pere.

She will be sadly missed by her family and friends, including two children, Robert L. Geurts, De Pere and Mary J. Knuth, Suamico; four grandchildren, Michael J. Geurts, Madison; Geoffrey and Pardiese Geurts, Paris, France; Lori Ann Geurts, Washington, D.C.; William "Bill" L. and Monica Knuth, Golden Valley, Minn.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dr. Jack and Gerry Doyle, Lansing, Mich.; William L. and Sue Doyle, Albuquerque, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raphael "Ray" in l990; a daughter-in-law, Mary Geurts; a son-in-law, Louis J, Knuth; five brothers, Earl, Lowell, George, Ted and Joseph; one sister, Mary Jane Soli.

Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave. from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday. There will be a Parish Wake Service, including a Rosary Service at 7:00 p.m. Thursday. Friends may also call at St. Willebrord Catholic Church in the Rev. Kenneth DeGroot Center from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the church with the Rev. Kenneth DeGroot O.Praem officiating. Burial will be in Allouez Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established in Helen's name. The Geurts family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire staff of Unity Hospice, especially, Heidi, Dawn, Jodi, Char, Jessica, Diane, June, Tom, Sr. Helen and her faithful friends from St. Benedict Parish, John and AnnaMae Spetcher.

Emmett H. McMahon, 89, Green Bay. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Survivors include his wife, Anna; two daughters, Sandra (Jim) Hong, Tucson, Ariz., Kathy (Jeff) Barkow, Green Bay; one son, Hugh (Charlotte) McMahon, Fort Atkinson; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Elaine McMahon; one brother, Robert (Jackie) McMahon. Malcore Funeral Home, 701 N. Baird St., is assisting the family.

Gene Stanley 'Monte' Montevideo
Gene Stanley "Monte" Montevideo, 62, a lifelong resident of Green Bay, died unexpectedly Monday, Jan. 31, 2005. He was born Jan. 15, 1943, to Stanley and Fernande (Schmitz) Montevideo. He graduated from Our Lady of Premontre High School in 1961. Monte began working at the age of 14 with his father at Monte's Paint and Decorating. They continued together until Stanley's retirement in 1977 when Gene took over the family business. In his early years, he painted custom cars. Monte was active in many area organizations including and serving as treasurer of the Magnetos Motorcycle Club of Green Bay. He was past President of the Machickanee Horse Club and was a member of the Brown County Sportsmen's Club. He raced flat track and motor cross cycles and in his later years he loved his cottage, fishing, hunting and snowmobiling.

Survivors include seven children, Randy (Jodie) Montevideo, Green Bay; Sherry (Rick) Byrnes, Krakow; Traci Montevideo, Rachelle Montevideo, Derek (fiancee, Katie Hogan) Montevideo, Devin Montevideo, Deanna Montevideo, all of Green Bay; one stepson, Terry (Mary) Woodke, Green Bay; his children's mother and his best friend, Dori J. Montevideo; seven grandchildren, Brandon, Nick, Jeremy, Chris, Joshua, Amy, Allainna; his mother, Fernande; two sisters, one brother and their spouses, Judy and Tom Haevers, Naples, Fla.; Richard and Linda Montevideo, Stangleville; Patricia and Patrick Albers, De Pere; one sister-in-law, Lisa Montevideo, Howard; nieces and nephews.

Monte loved life and lived it to the fullest. He will be sadly missed by his family, customers and his many friends who knew him as the life of the party.

He was preceded in death by his father, Stanley, and a brother, Michael. Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 3:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday. The funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Bill Sergott officiating.

Baird St. Survivors include five sons, Wilbert "Butch" (Cindy) Rentmeester, Crivitz, Randy (Vera) Rentmeester, Bruce Crossing, Mich., Russ (Denise) Rentmeester, Green Bay, Jeff (Mary) Rentmeester, Oneida, Kevin (Fran) Rentmeester, Appleton; five daughters, Yvonne (Bill) VanBeek, Green Bay, Gloria (Tim) Skipper, Castaic, Calif., Pat (Gus) Lord, Daggett, Mich., Shirley (Joe) Stroobants, Green Bay, Debbie (Tom) Gerondale, New Franken; 33 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one brother, Eugene Metoxen.
