H. Cecilia Olson, 95, of Beloit, WI, died Tuesday, December 07, 2004 in Premier Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing.

She was born November 21, 1909 in Benoit, WI, the daughter of William and Anna Olson Malm. Cecilia married John B. Olson on March 15, 1930 in Ashland, WI. He predeceased her in August of 1997. Cecilia was a nurse at Zauggs Nursing Home in Ashland, WI. She enjoyed reading, gardening and camping.

Survivors include her children, George Olson of Vail, AZ, Donald (Carol) Olson of Colorado Springs, CO, Phyllis Goff of Beloit, WI and Dorothy (Raymond) Bresetta of Milwaukee, WI; 18 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; one great great grandchild.

She was predeceased by her parents, son, David Olson, two brothers and four sisters.

A memorial service will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, December 11, 2004 in Faith Baptist Church 1013 Henry Avenue, Beloit, WI, with Pastor Jim Stevens officiating. There will be no visitation. Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, assisted the family with arrangements.

Memorial may be given to Beloit Regional Hospice or Faith Baptist Church.

Margaret A. O’Brien, 76, of Beloit, WI, died Tuesday, November 23, 2004 in Beloit Memorial Hospital after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

She was born April 3, 1928 in Beltrami County, MN, the daughter of Peter J. and Clara (Mert) Utter. Margaret was a graduate of Bemidji High School, Bemidji, MN. She married Keith D. O’Brien on September 6, 1947 in Bemidji, MN. He predeceased her on November 25, 2003.

Margaret was employed by the Beloit Postal Service as a mail carrier, retiring in 1982. She was the first women to join the Local Letter Carrier Union.

Survivors include her four daughters, Jean (Steve Kravik) O’Brien of Fort Atkinson, Kathleen (Jim Pearson) Wyss of South Beloit, IL, Sharen (Randy) Ostenson and Judy (Roger) Hallett both of Beloit, WI; one son, Richard (Patricia) O’Brien of Crystal Falls, MI; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer Riggs, Teresa Stokes, Sandra O’Brien, Sean O’Brien, Amy O’Brien, Robert M. Wyss, Kevin Wyss, Dan’ell McConnell, Michael McConnell and Jay Hallett; nine great grandchildren; three brothers, Larry Utter of Minneapolis, MN, Donald Utter of Billings, MT and Roy Utter of Vallejo, CA.

She was predeceased by her parents and son, Dennis O’Brien.

Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Saturday, November 28, 2004 in Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl officiating. Burial will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, South Beloit, IL. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI and from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services Saturday in the church.

Memorials may be given in her name to the American Cancer Society.

Raymond E. Olmstead, 83, of Beloit, WI, died Thursday, January 8, 2004 in Beloit Memorial Hospital after a short illness.

He was born on January 31, 1920 in Tomah, WI, the son of Pearl Olmstead and Margaret Goodenough McCumber. Raymond married Lillian “Ruth” Day on August 15, 1942 in Shullsburg, WI.

Raymond was employed by Yates-American Machine Company for 40 years. He was also owner and operator of R&K Machine. Raymond was a member of the Yates-American Quarter Century Club and Christ United Methodist Church. He was also a trustee at the church and helped with a great deal of repairs and maintenance at the church.

Survivors include his wife, Lillian “Ruth” Olmstead of Beloit, WI; two sons, Richard (Phyllis) Olmstead and Ralph (Jan) Olmstead both of Beloit, WI; five grandchildren, Melissa (Michael) VanderKooi, Jeremy (Heather) Olmstead, Ben Olmstead, Rose (Pat) Fullington, and Kenneth Olmstead; five great grandchildren; one brother, Virgil (Louise) Olmstead of Rockford, IL; one sister, Helen Baumgarten of Tomah, WI; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Donald and Douglas Olmstead.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 12, 2004 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI. Burial will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, South Beloit, IL. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.

Paul H. Osborne, 80, lifetime resident of Rockton, IL, died Friday, September 19, 2003 in Beloit Memorial Hospital.

He was born May 1, 1923 in Rockford, IL, the son of Leslie and Mildred Creagon Osborne. Paul was a 1942 graduate of Hononegah High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Paul married Beverly Jones on November 2, 1946 in St. Peter Catholic Church, South Beloit, IL. She predeceased him on September 6, 1997.

Paul was employed by the Rockton Post Office, retiring in 1984. After his retirement he was employed by Makerite in South Beloit, IL for several years. Paul was a lifelong member of St. Peter Catholic Church. He was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus. Paul was also a member and past commander of the Rockton American Legion Post # 332 serving for over 50 years and also served on the Rifle Squad for the Rockton American Legion , past volunteer fireman for the Rockton Fire Protection District, a member of the Roscoe V.F.W. Post # 2955, Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #56 Beloit, Beloit Eagles Club, Aerie 57, and the USS Titania Association.

Survivors include his son, Paul Douglas (Mary) of Denver, CO; one daughter, Peggy (John Petit) Palmer of South Beloit, IL; son-in-law, Jack Gerety of Englewood, CO; six grandchildren, Matthew and Christopher Palmer, Amy and Deidra Osborne, Michele and Shana Gerety; one great grandson; one brother, Jack (Theora) Osborne of Rockford, IL; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, George and Pauline Jones of Byron, IL; former son-in-law, David Palmer of Rockton, IL; several special friends including, Ken and Evy George of Beloit, WI; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents and daughter, Sandra Gerety.

Paul was very proud of living in Rockton and serving his community. He was a loving father, grandfather and friend. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.

Prayer services will be held at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, September 23, 2003 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Peter Catholic Church, with Msgr. Thomas C. Brady officiating. Burial will be in Rockton Cemetery with Military Rites. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home with a rosary at 7:30 p.m.

A memorial fund in his name will be established at a later date.

MARION OWENSON, 81, of Beloit, WI, died Monday, July 28, 2003 in Premier Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing.

She was born February 11, 1922 in Beloit, WI, the daughter of Rolf and Bertha Ungerer Owenson. Marion was a 1941 graduate of Waukesha High School. She was employed by First Federal Savings and Loan in Waukesha, WI, as a manager, retiring in 1987. Marion was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church.

Survivors include one brother, John (Barbara) Owenson of Hot Springs, AR; one sister, Margaret Secor of Beloit, WI; one niece, Patricia (Richard) Dittman of Beloit, WI; one nephew, James Resler of Muskego, WI; great nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, one niece, Betty Elmer and stepfather, John Knight.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2003 in Our Lady Of The Assumption Catholic Church with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. until the time of services Wednesday in the church. Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, assisted the family with arrangements.

A memorial in her name to be established at a later date.

CARL A. OTTO, 82, of Beloit, WI, died Thursday, June 5, 2003 in Beloit Memorial Hospital.

He was born June 6, 1920 in Edgerton, WI, the son of Carl A. and Helga Hanson Otto Sr. Carl was a 1938 graduate of Beloit Memorial High School. He was a WWII veteran serving in the U.S. Navy. Carl married Lila Genung in June of 1942.

Carl was employed by Fairbanks Morse & Company for 42 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post #2306, and the Fairbanks Quarter Century Club. Carl enjoyed spending time with his family in Northern Wisconsin, hunting, fishing and reading. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Lila, two children, Carl A. (Pat) Otto III and Paula Wells both of Beloit, WI; four grandchildren, Scott (Kelly) Otto of Madison, WI, Brian (Amanda) Otto of Beloit, WI, Kelly Wells and Erin Wells both of Beloit, WI; five great grandchildren, Kyle and Hunter Otto, David Merritt, Jada and Sebastion Savage; one sister, Mrs. Bea Dutcher of Beloit, WI; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers, Keith and Lowell Otto, one sister, Maxine Scharfenberg.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 7, 2003 in St. John’s Lutheran Church, 1000 Bluff Street, Beloit, WI, with the Reverend Mark Yates officiating. Burial will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, South Beloit, IL. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until the time of services Saturday in the church.

Memorials may be given in his name to St. John’s Lutheran Church.

CAROLINE M. OLDENBURG, 87, of Beloit, WI, died Tuesday, April 29, 2003 in Beloit Health & Rehabilitation Center.

She was born January 16, 1916 in Linenwood, IL, the daughter of Edwin and Myrtle Watson Vitell. Caroline married Carl Oldenburg in 1964 in Beloit, WI. He predeceased her on August 28, 1990.

Caroline was employed by Sundstrand in Rockford, IL, retiring in 1971. She was a member of New Hope United Methodist.

Survivors include her two granddaughters, Caroline (James) Rush of WI, and Diane (Steve Pearson) Nestroji of Oregon, IL; two great grandchildren, Melissa Glenn of Beloit, WI and Michael Glenn; one sister, Ellen (Sam) Caccio of Rockford, IL.

She was predeceased by her parents, one son, Donald Hallstrom, sister, Ruth Rydholm and brother, Raymond Vitell.

Funeral services will be 9:00 a.m. Friday, May 2, 2003 in Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with the Reverend Jo Bierer officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. There will be no visitation.

Dominick Piccione, 73 of Beloit, WI died peacefully in his sleep on Easter Sunday, March 27, 2005 .

He was born December 14, 1931 in Beloit, WI the son of Leonardo “Leo” and Palma Messina Piccione. Dominick was a 1950 graduate of Beloit Memorial High School. He married Nancy Elliott on June 13, 1953 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Beloit, WI.

Dominick began his building career in his early 20’s and continued well into his 60’s. He was well known as a General Contractor and was best known for his superb craftsmanship. He was an artist in his trade.

Dominick loved all sports, but was especially fond of boxing. He was gifted with great hands in the Golden Glove Ranks. He was a quarterback for Roosevelt and was an excellent third baseman in both hardball and softball. He played for the Italian American Club and many others, finally sponsoring his own teams in the 70’s and 80’s. Dominick had a passion for the northwoods and was an avid hunter and fisherman. But his greatest passion and love was for his family and friends. Dominick believed in honor and honesty. It was those qualities, and many others, that made him such a great man and someone so loved by those who knew him.

Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Nancy; three daughters, Pamela Kay Larsen (Floyd Johnson) of Beloit, WI, Julie Maria (Dr. David) Gamm of Appleton, WI, Kathleen Ann Piccione of Leeds Utah; son, Leo Mike (Lenore) Piccione of Beloit, WI; 8 grandchildren, Jason, Jared and Michael Gamm, Dominick and Nicholas Piccione, Casey, Jason and Aaron Johnson; sisters, Isabelle King of Ft. Meyers, FL and Virginia Ils of Brookfield, WI; brother, Anthony “Tony” (Ann) Piccione of Richland Center, WI; sister-in-laws, Kathleen “Kay” Piccione of Rockford, IL, Judy Waldsmith of Afton, WI; brother-in-laws, Joseph “Joe” (Eleanor) Elliott of Whittier, CA.; Doug McMillan of Downy, CA., and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, brother, Angelo Piccione, sister, Catherine Hogan, infant sister, Rosilee, son-in-law, Peter Larsen, brother-in-laws, Dominick Montelbano, Ralph E. King, John Ils, Roy Hogan, Marvin Waldsmith and Delbert Hanson, and sister-in-law, Patty Hanson McMillan.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 1, 2005 in Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI with Father Wentink of St Anthony’s Medical Center, Rockford, IL, officiating. Burial will be held at Mt. Thabor Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
