Helen M. Vogt, 83
Funeral services will be held today at Pilgrim United Church of Christ, Grafton, for Helen M. Vogt, 83, of Cedarburg, who died May 25, 2000 at St. Mary’s Hospital Ozaukee.
Visitation will be at the church from 4 p.m., with Rev. Franz Rigert officiating at the 7 p.m. service. Burial will be at Wisconsin Memorial Park, Brookfield.
Mrs. Vogt was born Feb. 28, 1917 in Keokuk, Iowa, daughter of Arthur F. and Madeline (nee Lang) Mueller. She married Howard L. Vogt, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Vogt was a homemaker, and a member of the Eastern Star Byron Kilbourn Chapter 195. She also attended Pilgrim United Church of Christ.
Survivors include daughter Marilyn H. (Richard) Martin of Grafton; grandchildren Craig (Sharon) Martin of Jackson, Brandt (Rebecca) Martin of Beumont, Texas and Timothy (Peggy) Martin of Grafton; great-grandchildren Douglas and Sara Martin, both of Jackson, Nicholas and Alison Martin, both of Grafton; sister Mary (Robert) Schramek of Greenfield; great-aunt Stacy Schramek of Menomonee Falls; great-nephew Thomas Schramek of Menomonee Falls; other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, Howard Vogt, she was preceded in death by her parents, brother Calvin and sister Ruth.
Memorials to Pilgrim United Church of Christ would be appreciated by the family.

Lois E. Brown
Lois E. Brown, 76, of Celestine, Inc., passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2000, at her home after a lengthy illness.
She was born Dec. 23, 1923, in Manitowoc, to the late Harvey and Eleanor Held, graduated from West Bend High School and attended the University of Wisconsin.
During the outbreak of World War II, she joined the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps for service in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps.
She married Howard Brown on May 30, 1947, in West Bend.
Survivors include three children, Debra (Greg) Kampenga of Carmel, Ind., Nancy Ryan of Greenwood, Ind. and Steven of Gladstone, Mo.; four grandchildren; two sisters, Marion Fryer of Fond du Lac and Louanne Zimpel of Rogers, Ark.
Visitation at the Becher-Kluesner Funeral Home, 214 E. Seventh St., Jasper, Ind., will be held Saturday, May 27, from 1 to 6 p.m.
Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Jasper Public Library.

Mr. Alfred J. "Al" Knepprath
Mr. Alfred J. "Al" Knepprath, 68, of Boltonville passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 25, 2000 at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac.
He was born on June 25, 1931 in the town of Trenton, the son of the late Henry and Emma (Wiedmeyer) Knepprath and on Jan. 26, 1957 he was united in marriage to Evelyn Staehler at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in St. Michael’s. The couple made their home in Boltonville.
Al was a member of St. John of God Catholic Church in the town of Farmington and a member of the Boltonville Sportsman’s Club. He served his country in the United States Marines during the Korean War from 1951-53.
He was employed by Mercury Marine in Fond du Lac for 49 years until the time of his death. He enjoyed gardening, landscaping and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Evelyn of Boltonville; five children, Glenn Knepprath (Lori Blank), Sandy Braun (Dave Laufer) and Daryl Knepprath, all of Boltonville, Judy (Dwight) Helsell of Campbellsport and Allyn Knepprath (Julie Ann Boehm) of Boltonville; five grandchildren, Scott, Sarah and Melissa Braun, and Brandon and Brittni Knepprath; a sister, Virginia Buettner of West Bend; a sister-in-law, Lucille Knepprath of Saukville; two step-grandchildren, Anthony and Adam Helsell; a step-great-grandson, Noah, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Two brothers, Willard and Robert Knepprath, a son-in-law, William Braun and his stepmother Pearl, preceded him in death.
Private funeral services and visitation will be held on Tuesday at the Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum. Fr. Robert Artmann will officiate and burial will follow in St. John of God Catholic Church Cemetery.

LaVerne C. "Lovey" Polyak
LaVerne C. "Lovey" Polyak (nee Fara), 73, of West Bend died Thursday, May 26, 2000 at St. Joseph’s Community Hospital, West Bend.
She was born in Newburg on Nov. 17, 1926 to the late Frank and Elizabeth (nee Batista) Fara. On Sept. 28, 1946, she was united in marriage to Frank Polyak at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Newburg. Together, they made their home in Barton and operated Frank’s Meat Market for more than 35 years.
Frank preceded her in death on June 8, 1987, and she continued to operate the meat market for several years. LaVerne was a member of St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Parish.
She is survived by three children; Dr. Frank (Marcia) Polyak of Madison, Gail (Peter) Behn of West Bend and Terry (Jean) Polyak of Hartford; five grandchildren, Bryan (fiancee Melissa Radtke) Behn, Stephanie Behn, Jennifer Behn, Michael Behn and David Polyak; a sister, Marianne Carr of Hartford; three sisters-in-law, Sylvia Pederson of Milwaukee, Emily (Chester) Okray of Milwaukee and Ruth Polyak of Milwaukee; a brother-in-law, Fr. Tony Polyak of Taiwan; special friend Dolly Reimer of West Bend; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Mrnka, and a brother, Robert Havlatka.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Parish, West Bend. Fr. Patrick Wendt will be presiding and burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home, West Bend, on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m., followed by a prayer Vigil with Fr. Tony Polyak.

Angela "Angie" C. Voll
Angela "Angie" C. Voll, 15, of West Bend died Wednesday May 24, 2000 at Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee.
She was born in West Bend on April 6, 1985 to Thomas and Marlene (nee Prom). Angie attended Fair Park Elementary School, Badger Middle School and was currently attending West Bend East High School.
At school, she was active in mixed choir. She was a member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Saukville.
Angie was deeply loved and will be sadly missed by her parents Thomas and Marlene Voll of West Bend; a sister, Shelia (Jon Clune) Voll of West Bend; a brother, Chadwick Voll of West Bend; maternal grandparents Alvin and Bernice Prom of Mayville; paternal grandparents Everett and Ardene Voll of Baraboo; nephew and Godson Matthew Clune; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home. Dr. George Jorenby of St. Peter’s U.C.C. Saukville will officiate. Visitation will be at the funeral home Wednesday from 4 p.m. until the time of services.

Grace A. Gourlie, 88
Grace A. Gourlie, nee Wolters, of Hartford, formerly of Neosho, passed away at Community Memorial Hospital, Menomonee Falls, on Tuesday, May 23, 2000, at the age of 88.
She was born April 22, 1912, in Oshkosh, to the late Carl and Martha Wolters, and married David A. Gourlie on Sept. 1, 1934, in Hartford.
Grace was a life time member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Neosho, where she lived most of her life. Last year she lived at Wellington Place in Hartford.
She enjoyed her friends she made there and her family appreciated the love and care she received.
Grace was a member of St. Paul's Ladies Aid, Hartford's Senior Friends and Neosho's Historical Society.
Survivors include her children, David G. (Marian) of Madison, Richard A. of Milwaukee, Carol (Paul) Schenck of Wixom, Mich. and Ronald A. (Connie) of Argyle, Texas; a sister, Mildred Pirtle of Ludington, Mich.; special former daughters-in-law, Lois Gourlie and Norma Gourlie; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her husband on May 31, 1978, and a son, Dale R.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 27, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Neosho.
Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. Rev. David W. Meister will officiate, and interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hartford.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Paul's Lutheran Carillon Fund or Neosho Historical Society are appreciated.
The Berndt Funeral Home, Hartford, is serving the family.
A heartfelt thanks to the staffs of Wellington Place of Hartford, Hartford Memorial Hospital and Menomonee Falls Community Memorial Hospital.

Robert N. Butzler, 75
Robert N. Butzler, 75, of Hartford, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2000, at St. Luke’s Medical Center, Milwaukee.
He was born Oct. 21, 1924, in Hartford, to the late George and Katherine (Schnitzler) Butzler, and married LaVerne Pfragner on May 17, 1947, at St. Kilian’s Catholic Church, Hartford.
Robert was a member and past president of the Hartford Lion’s Club, member of the Hartford Police and Fire Commission, Hartford Common Schools Board and Hartford Union High School Board, EASA (Electrical Apparatus Service Association), and St. Kilian’s Church.
He was athletic director at St. Kilian’s Catholic School, and owned and operated Butzler Electric in Hartford for 40 years.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Caryl Schrab of Janesville and Lynda (Tom) Secor of Green Bay; a son, John of Hartford; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Rob) Hedden, Jamie (Rob) Hock, Andy (fiancee Becky) and Ryan Secor, Joshua and Brittany Butzler; three sisters, Mary Ann (Mark) Hite of California, Margaret (Doug) Smith of Hartford and Sister Helen Butzler of Milwaukee; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law, nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were a brother, George, and a son-in-law, Eddie.
A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, June 10, at 11 a.m. at St. Kilian’s Catholic Church, Hartford, with Fr. Michael Petrie officiating. Inurnment will be in Wisconsin Memorial Park, Brookfield.
The family will greet relatives and friends at the church only on Saturday from 9:30 to 11 a.m.
Memorials to St. Kilian’s Building and Maintenance Fund are appreciated.
The Shimon Funeral Home, Hartford, is assisting the family.

Wilfred ‘Van’ Van Doran, 82
Wilfred H. "Van" Van Doran, 82, of Jackson, formerly of San Diego, Calif., died Thursday, May 25, 2000, at his residence.
He was born Aug. 21, 1917, in Elkhart, Ind., to the late William and Bertha (Thomas) Van Doran, and was raised in Moose Heart Children's Home in Aurora, Ill.
He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theatre, on the U.S. aircraft carrier, Bunker Hill.
Van married Gladys A. Wood, who passed away on Nov. 21, 1985. He then married Dorothy L. Miller in April of 1988 in San Diego , Calif.
He was a U.S. Postal carrier for over 30 years, retiring in the mid 1980s. Van enjoyed playing the saxophone.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Wayne (Lisa) of San Diego, Calif.; a sister, Mary Kay Johnson of Carmel, Calif.; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death was a brother.
He was a member of the Federation of Musicians, National Loyal Order of Moose, past member of U.S. Letter Carriers, National Letter Carriers Association.
Private funeral services were held on Thursday, May 25, at 9 a.m. in Jackson with cremation at Parkview Cremations of Fond du Lac. Interment of ashes will be in El Camino Memorial Park and Mortuary of San Diego.
Memorials are appreciated.
The Phillip Funeral Home of West Bend assisted the family.
