Lorraine A. Heindl, 86,

of Wauwatosa, formerly of Brookfield, died Thursday, March 8, 2001.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frank; her daughter Anne Heindl Ray; four brothers, Ray, Arnie, Bob and Alfred; two sisters Armella Burt and Gertrude Weiss.

Dear mother of Mary (David) Geier and Beth (Terry) Sartori. Mother-in-law of Augie Ray Sr. Grandmother of Augie (Geri) Ray Jr., Linda Ray, David (Sarah) Ray), Charles (Joan) Geier, Jason Geier, Daniel Sartori, Hannah Sartori and Angela Sartori. Sister of Marie (Orv) Strachota, Marguerite "Mark" Baumgartner, Joe (Maybelle) Weiss and Katherine "Candy" Merriam.

She is also survived by great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be after 10 a.m. on Monday at San Camillo Chapel (10200 W. Bluemound Road) with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Interment at Wisconsin Memorial Park.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful caregivers on 2 East at St. Camillus. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Ralph J. Zeckmeister
Funeral services were held Saturday at Peace Lutheran Church in Saukville for Ralph J. Zeckmeister, 75, of Saukville, who passed away at his winter home in Harlingen, Texas on Feb. 3, 2001.

Mr. Zeckmeister was born on Sept. 13, 1925 the son of Anthon and Catherine (nee Berrens) Zechmeister. He worked as a maintenance mechanic for Simplicity in Port Washington. He was a member of the American Legion Post 470 of Saukville, the Newburg Sportsman’s Club and the IAM Machinist Union 1430. He was also an avid outdoorsman all his life.

Survivors include: wife Bernice (nee Knop); children Gerald (Sheila) of West Bend, Randal of Saukville, and Michael (Tracy) of Antigo; grandchildren Shaun, Melissa, Benjamin, Ashley and Nathan; brother Anton Jr. (Ruth) Zeckmeister of West Bend; sisters Jane Fahney of West Bend and Alice (Robert) Fechter of Saukville.

Memorials can be made to the Ozaukee Humane Society or Bethesda Lutheran Home.

Alfred C. Kraus
A memorial service was held Sunday at Cedar Bay Chapel in West Bend for Alfred C. Kraus, who died Feb. 7, 2001 at the age of 87. His cremated remains will be placed at Old Settlers Rest in Mequon.

Mr. Kraus was born July 15, 1913 in Grafton, son of William and Ella (nee Prowatzke) Kraus. He attended St. Paul Lutheran School and Grafton High School, as well as college in Madison.

Mr. Kraus worked as a milkman for Borden’s and was a member of Teamsters Local 200.

He married Ruth Clausing on May 13, 1941 in Mequon.

Survivors include son John (Nancy) Kraus; grandson Matthew (Nancy Jo) Kraus; great-grandchild Cameron; sister Eleanor (Fred) Sendik; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Arnold and William, sister Hildegarde and beloved wife Ruth.

Memorials would be appreciated to Cedar Campuses Benevolent Corp., 5595 Hwy. Z, West Bend, WI 53095.

Walter F. Bruss
Cedarburg resident Walter F. Bruss died Feb. 8, 2001 at St. Mary’s Hospital Ozaukee at the age of 92.

Funeral services will be held today at First Immanuel Lutheran Church, Cedarburg. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until the 7 p.m. memorial service. Interment will be at Zur Ruhe Cemetery, Cedarburg. Mueller Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Mr. Bruss was born Oct. 8, 1908 in Freistadt, son of the late Alvin and Lydia (nee Wetzel) Bruss. He married Laura Gierach on Sept. 12, 1936 at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Freistadt, and she preceded him in death.

Mr. Bruss worked at Doerr Electric in Cedarburg for 33 years, retiring in the late-1970s. He was also a longtime active member of First Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cedarburg.

Survivors include daughters Lois (Rev. Arthur) Dingel of Sheboygan and Eunice (Robert) Keske of West Bend; sons Frederick (Rosemary) Bruss of Belgium and Richard (Darien) Bruss of Adelaid, Australia; 11 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, 1 brother-in-law, 3 sisters-in-law, other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by 2 brothers and a sister.

Memorials to the First Immanuel Organ Fund would be appreciated.

Ralph F. Schumacher
Ralph F. Schumacher, 57, of Rubicon, passed away on Friday, March 9, 2001, at his home, following a year-long battle with cancer.

He was born Dec. 3, 1943, in Hartford, to the late Herbert and Bernadette (nee Becker) Schumacher, and lived on the family homestead all his life.

He married Celia Hegy on July 13, 1968, at St. Kilian's Church, Hartford.

Ralph was a lifelong member of St. John's Church in Rubicon where he served as an usher and was a member of the Holy Name Society.

He was a volunteer firefighter for the Woodland Fire Department for 31 years, was truck captain and on the board of directors. He was also an FFA alumni,

Ralph loved his family and his life on the farm.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Becky (fiance Brad Bautz) and Bobbi (special friend Tim Pruski), both of Rubicon; two sons, Tony and Rick, both of Rubicon; a brother, Jerry (Jeannette) of Woodruff; three sisters, Pat (Bob) Baus of Hartford, Margaret Mary (Peter) Schmitt of Rubicon and Mary Lou (Norm) Gauthier of Rubicon; his mother-in-law, Irene Hegy of Hartford; two brothers-in-law, Jerome (Jan) Hegy of Hartland and Richard (Bobbie) Hegy of East Troy; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death was his father-in-law, Philip Hegy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, March 12, at 7:30 p.m. at St. John's Catholic Church, Rubicon.

Father Russell Stommel will officiate, and interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, Rubicon.

The family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Monday from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. John's Church or the Woodland Fire Department for its thermal imaging camera fund, are appreciated.

The Shimon Funeral Home, Hartford, is assisting the family.

Mildred H. Pfeifer
Mildred H. Pfeifer, nee Wendt, 86, of West Bend, died Friday, March 9, 2001, at Rocky Knoll Health Care Center in Plymouth.

She was born Aug. 9, 1914, in the town of Jackson, to the late Eric and Elenore (nee Ehmke) Wendt.

Mildred spent her life as a private duty practical nurse. She was very dedicated to the families she served and she was very proud of her nursing career.

She was loved and will be dearly missed by her daughter, Mary (Hans) Halfmann of West Bend; four grandchildren, John (Toni) Halfmann of Woodbury, Minn., Robert (Heidi Ann) Halfmann of Chillicothe, Ohio, David (Cynthia) Halfmann of Stevens Point and Heidi Marie (Don) Hammond of Sheboygan; three great-grandchildren, Jared Halfmann, Mitchell Halfmann and Benjamin Halfmann; two sisters, Ruth Weber of Three Lakes and Louise (Robert) Tucker of Littleton, Colo.; two nieces, Nora Rylee and Carol Jensen; two nephews, Larry Coates Jr. and Greg Marquardt; grandnieces; grandnephews; other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were a sister, Hazel; a brother, Harold; and a sister-in-law, Blanche Wendt.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 13, at 5 p.m. at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home, West Bend.

Rev. Bruce Dunford of First Baptist Church, West Bend, will officiate and interment of the cremated remains will be in Zur-Ruhe Cemetery, in Cedarburg.

Visitation at the funeral home will be on Tuesday from 4 p.m. until the time of services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Alzheimer's Association, 6130 W. National Ave. Suite 200, Milwaukee, 53214, are appreciated.

Mildred A. Faber
Mildred A. Faber, nee May, 91, of West Bend, died Friday, March 9, 2001, at St. Joseph's Sub Acute Care Center.

She was born March 28, 1909, in the town of Trenton, to the late George and Emma (nee Bahmer) May, and married Milton Faber on Aug. 9, 1927, in Waukegan, Ill.

Together they lived and worked on the farm in the town of Trenton until moving to West Bend in 1955.

Mildred also worked at Enger Kress, retiring in 1971.

Milton passed away on March 6, 1977.

She was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church and the Enger Kress 25-Year Club.

Survivors include six children, William (Elma), Shirley Klug, Mary (Edward) German, Gerald (Carol), June Naumann, all of West Bend, and James (friend Judy) of Campbellsport; 26 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; four great-great-granddaughters; and a brother-in-law, Clarence (Bernice) Faber of West Bend

Preceding her in death were a sister, Viola Johnson, and two grandchildren, Rory Hron and Tracy Hron.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 15, at 7 p.m. at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church.

Rev. George Mumm will officiate, and burial will be Friday morning in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend.

Visitation at the church only will be Thursday from 4 p.m. until the time of services.

Memorials to St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church are appreciated.

The Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home West Bend, is assisting the family.
