Jill Renee Keller

Jill Renee Keller, 41, went home peacefully to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 22, 2001, at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay after a courageous nine-month battle with leukemia.

Jill was born Oct. 5, 1959, in Omaha, Neb., to Lila (McCullom Thompson and the late Richard Thompson.

She graduated from Valparaiso University in 1981 with a degree in social work, and obtained a second degree in occupational therapy in 1995 from Mount Mary College in Milwaukee.

Jill is survived by her loving, caring and devoted husband, Michael, and her loving children, Bryan J. Goll, Joshua C. Keller and Kayla E. Keller.

She is the loving daughter of Lila Thompson and Patricia Thompson, and is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Jon and Tina Thompson; a sister and brother-in-law, Jen and Brian Maher; her mother-in-law, Rosemary Keller; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Frederick and Mary Ann "Dolly" Goll; her brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law, Jeffrey D. Keller and Kenneth and Carin Goll; her sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Linda Keller, Karen and Nathan Glassman; her goddaughter, Sarah Parsons; many nieces and nephews and other family and friends.

Preceding her in death were her father, Richard Thompson; her father-in-law, Martin E. Keller; and her first husband, Jeffrey K. Goll.

She was an active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in the village of Howard.

Jill was a very loving, giving and gifted person, using her degree in OT to assist disabled children at Brown County Rehab. Resources where she was employed.

Friends may call at the Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., Green Bay, on Thursday, July 26 from 4 to 8 p.m., and also at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2736 Glendale Ave., from 1 to 3 p.m. on Friday.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 3 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, with Rev. Frank Kauzlarich officiating.

Jill's family would like to thank the staff of Green Bay Oncology, the St. Vincent Hospital ninth floor nurses and staff for their loving and devoted care and friendship extended to Jill and her family.

Loving thanks to Dr. Jules Blank, Dr. David Vesole, Char Trajkovic, Anita Crespin-Grieser, Nancy Englehart, Kate Newbanks, Renee Dax, Deb Marcantonio , Sue Riemer and Holly Manders.

Jill was special to so many people; if we have left out someone, our heartfelt thanks. Your care and concern have been appreciated.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the donor's favorite charity in Jill's name would be appreciated.

William L. Dailey

William L. Dailey, 47, of Allenton, died Saturday, July 21, 2001.

He was the beloved husband of the late Elizabeth (nee Rose); dear father of Jennifer, Meagan, Bill II, "B.J." and Adam Dailey; dear son-in-law of Doc and Paula Rose.

He is further survived by brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Bill was an employee of Allenton Service and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 27 at 2 p.m. at the Schramka-Herrick Funeral Home, Menomonee Falls.

Interment will be in Sunnyside Cemetery.

Visitation at the funeral home will be Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of services.

Melitta Quinlan

Melitta Quinlan, nee Reimann, 70, of Wabeno, died Monday, July 23, 2001, at Wausau Hospital of complications following lung surgery.

She was born Feb. 3, 1931, in West Bend, to the late Fred and Wilhelmine (Grothe) Reimann, attended McLane Elementary School and graduated from West Bend High School in 1949.

In high school she was active in athletics, theater and chorus. She reeived several honors including an award for excellence in oratorical declamation and selection as the Snow Ball Queen.

After graduation from high school, Melitta attended La Crosse State Teachers College for one year. In 1950 and 1951 she worked for West Bend Mutual Insurance Co., returning to college in the fall of 1951 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she was a resident assistant. In 1954 she graduated with a degree in recreation.

After graduation, she was the assistant director of recreation for the city of Sheboygan.

Following that she worked for the West Bend Gas and Electric Co. In 1959 she began teaching first grade at Arlington Heights, Ill., and the following two years she taught first grade and was primary supervisor at Prospect Heights Elementary School.

In June of 1962 she married Richard Quinlan of Green Bay, and they spent their first year of marriage on Washington Island, Wis. where she taught art in the grade school. From 1963 to 1980 she stayed at home and raised her family in North Fond du Lac, Kewaunee and Beaver Dam.

In Beaver Dam she was instrumental in the building of a new library building, began the figure skating program, started two pre-school programs and an elementary school tutoring program, was active in the community theater and American Field Service (AFS), served meals-on-wheels and founded the children's theater.

In 1998 she and her husband retired to Wabeno where she was a founder and first president of the Friends of the Wabeno Public Library and had recently been appointed to the Wabeno Public Library Board of Directors.

Survivors include her husband; four children, Henry (Kristin) of Ashland, Stella (John) Koop of Brookfield, Ill., Michael of Bruce and Matthew of Eagle River; three grandchildren, Maya Quinlan, Robert Quinlan and Abigail Quinlan; two brothers, Hans (Virginia) Reimann of New Baltimore, Mich. and Fred (Kathryn) Reimann of Wabeno; a sister-in-law, Patricia (Robert) Reimann of Fremont; three godchildren, Karl (Kathy) Reimann of Janesville, Kyla (Ron) Stach of Chestrfield, Mo. and John (Dolores) Quinlan of Dublin, Ireland, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceding her in death were a sister, Wilma, and a brother, Robert.

Visitation at Suminski Funeral Home, Wabeno, will be Friday, July 27 from 6 to 8 p.m., and on Saturday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church when funeral services will be held.

John F. Kling

John F. Kling, 66, of Rubicon, passed away on Saturday, July 21, 2001, at the Milwaukee Hospice Homecare and Residence.

He was born March 30, 1935, in Rubicon, to the late John P. and Eva D. (nee Fetzer) Kling.

John graduated from Hartford Union High School in 1953 and was class president his senior year.

He attended the Marquette School of Engineering.

John served his country in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959. He was a member of the Rock River All-Stars and Holy Hill.

Survivors include two brothers, Adolph (Rose Marie) of Florida and Norbert (friend Alice) of Chilton; a sister, Margie (William) Fraundorf of Hartford; 27 nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were two brothers, Edmund and Joseph.

Private family services will be held.

The Shimon Funeral Home, Hartford, is assisting the family.

Herbert W. Sponholz

Herbert W. Sponholz, 89, of Kewaskum, formerly of Princeton and Jackson, died on Tuesday, July 24, 2001, at the Samaritan Health Center, West Bend.

He was born Sept. 4, 1911, in Milwaukee, to the late Carl and Lydia (nee Strege) Sponholz. At an early age the family settled on a farm in the town of Polk.

On Sept. 1, 1934, he married Marjorie J. Dickinson in Jackson, and in 1942 they moved to Jackson.

He was employed at the former Rockfield Canning Co. and also for the village of Jackson as a custodian.

The couple then moved to Princeton in 1972, where they helped to establish the Princeton Senior Citizens Center.

In 1994 they returned to the area, settling in Kewaskum.

Herb loved the outdoors, especially fishing and bow hunting, and also bowling.

He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Jackson, the Wisconsin Bow Hunters Association, and was honored by becoming a lifetime member of the Jackson Fire Department.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Marjorie; five children, Herbert C. (Patti) of Jackson, Carl (JoAnn) and Barbara (Charles) Spaeth, both of West Bend, Beverly (Eugene) Mueller of Kewaskum and Kenneth (Sandy) of Campbellsport; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Charles "Fritz" (Alice) Dickinson of Montello and Jim Dickinson of Slinger; a sister-in-law, Gerry (Wally) Ritterbusch of Keshena; other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death was a sister, Loretta Seifert.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 27, at 6 p.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home, Jackson.

Rev. William Gruenstern of Christ Lutheran Church will officiate, and burial will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in Christ Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation at the funeral home will be Friday from 4 p.m. until the time of services.

The family has requested that memorials be given to the Samaritan Health Center.

Frances K. Hetland

Frances K. Hetland, nee Kerry, 95, of Appleton, formerly of West Bend, died peacefully on Tuesday, July 24, 2001, at Peabody Manor in Appleton.

She was born on Oct. 9, 1905, in Port Washington to the late Michael and Theresa (nee Birzer) Kerry, and in 1910 the family came to West Bend.

After her graduation from West Bend High School, Frances joined Amity Leather Products Co., working much of the time as an executive secretary.

While working there she met Stanley Hetland whom she married on Nov. 24, 1926, at Holy Angels Church.

The couple were charter members of St. Frances Cabrini Parish where they were extremely active in many church affairs.

Fran was accorded a lifetime membership in the West Bend Women's Club after having been a member for more than 50 years. She was also a volunteer for the Community Blood Bank in Milwaukee and in West Bend.

In 1987 the couple became residents of the Heritage Retirement Home in Appleton.

Her husband passed away on July 9, 1997.

Survivors include three sons, Richard (Pat) of Appleton, Col. USAF Ret. Joel (Sara) of Austin, Texas and Tom (Dianne) of Rhinelander; a daughter-in-law, Sally (Roger) Beghtal of Hendersonville, N.C.; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Betty Kerry of West Bend, Ella Johnson and Norma Helke, both of La Crosse; other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were two sons, Bernard in 1938 and John in 1986; a grandson, Kevin; two brothers, Anthony and Al (Lou) Kerry; four brothers-in-law, Oscar Johnson, Ed Helke, Carl (Malinda) Roehrl and Russell (Irma) Hetland.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 28, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Church, West Bend.

Fr. Jeffrey Haines will be the celebrant, and burial will follow in Holy Angels Cemetery.

Visitation at the church only will be Saturday from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m.

Those who wish, may give memorials to St. Frances Cabrni Parish Building Fund.

The Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend, is serving the family.
