Norman G. Hall

Norman G. 'Ponch' Hall, 50, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away on November 26, 2009, at his residence.

He was born January 2, 1959, in Parkersburg, W.Va., a son of the late Virgil F. and Illa Gregory Hall.

Norman was a member of the D.A.V. of Parkersburg and worked for Harold Taylor Refuse Service.

He is survived by two daughters, Susan Harris and Amanda (Nathan) Caplinger, both of Parkersburg; four sisters, Brenda (Wayne) Hall, Mildred (Cecil) Morgan, Mary A. Bolen, and Norma Green, all of Parkersburg; two brothers, Franklin (Geneva) Hall and Virgil L. Hall, both of Parkersburg; two grandchildren, Ryan Harris and Garrett Sheppard; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Harold and Alice Taylor, Katie Horton and several other friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harlen and Charles Hall; and one sister-in-law, Elsie Hall.

Graveside services will be Monday, November 30 at 1:00 p.m. at the Antioch Cemetery, Wirt County.

There will be no visitation.

Robert W. "Bob" Cross

Robert W. 'Bob' Cross age 82 of Parkersburg passed away November 26, 2009 at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital. He was born in Laconia, NH a son of the late Harold Emerson and Evelyn Floyd Cross. He retired from the U.S. Naval Air Station in Alameda, CA in 1969 where he served in the Active Naval Reserves. After retirement he drove tour bus for Park Tours, volunteered for the Parkersburg Police Department; was involved with the Volunteer Action Center, a member of the American Legion Post 15 and was an active member of the Bethany United Methodist Church.

Bob is survived by his wife Genevieve Roth 'Genny' Cross; two sons Robert Harold Cross (Lynette) of Silver Spring, MD and Michael Lee Cross (Tammy) of Stuarts Draft, VA; two sisters Virginia McGee of Spring Grove, PA and Betty VanDusen of Rockville, MD; four grandchildren Ryan Michael, Adam, Emily Ann, Sarah Elizabeth; two special nieces Janie Gorrell and Connie H. Lane and nephew Glenn and Nancy Morris and several other nieces and nephews; many friends and church family.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step-mother Esther Cross.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm Sunday November 29, 2009 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral home 400 Green St Parkersburg with Pastor Michael Broadwater officiating. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 on Saturday at the funeral home.

Alma Joy Delaney

Alma Joy Delaney, 82, of Parkersburg, W.Va., a resident of The Willows for the past 5 months due to a serious auto accident on 6/30, entered the portals of Heaven on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at the Camden Clark Memorial Hospital, with her loving family surrounding her bedside.

She was born in Sandyville, Jackson County, W.Va. a daughter of the late Lawrence and Nellie McCrady Stewart. In her earlier years, she worked at Chancellor Hotel as cashier and supervisor for 19 years. She retired from Service America and Macke Vending at Dupont after 20 years of service. Upon her retirement, she worked for 5 years as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She was a member of Christian Life Center for 60 years. She loved to sing, and used to sing 'I'm a Child of the King' on the local radio station with the late Mary Cole.

She is survived by Jimmie E. Delaney, her loving husband for 67 years; daughter, Carol Cottrell (Walt); sons, David Delaney (Angela), Ricky Delaney (Mandy), Randy Delaney (Lisa) and Jimmy Delaney (Missy); grandchildren, Rebecca Lamoureux, Robert Wiley, Loretta Delaney, Laura Delaney, Jeff Cottrell, Scott Cottrell, David Delaney, Jr., Alisha Delaney, Sean Delaney, Dawn Weekley, Randy M. Delaney, Ashley Delaney, Brad Delaney, Coty Delaney, Preston Delaney, and a very, very special granddaughter, Angie Reynolds; twenty great-grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, three great-step grandchildren; brother, Larry Stewart; sisters, Sandy Roush and Kathryn Rose; several nieces and nephews; and her faithful fur baby, Twinkles.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Gary Delaney; and five brothers.

Funeral services will be held on 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 29, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St., south Parkersburg with Pastor Delton Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. The visitation will be from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 28, at the funeral home.

A special thank you to Jenny, Mary and Patty, of The Willows, for their wonderful love and care.

Elvin R. Garrett

Elvin R. Garrett, 85, of Parkersburg, W.Va., died November 24, 2009.

He was born September 3, 1924, in Gilmer County near Coxs Mills, W.Va., a son of the late R. Earl and Opal Hall Garrett of Weston.

Elvin was a car dealer and salesman for 40+ years. He was a member of Moose Lodge in Parkersburg, a member of Harrisville Baptist Church in Harrisville, W.Va. and attended South Parkersburg Baptist Church.

Elvin is survived by one grandson, Bryon Garrett and wife, Nikki, of Elizabeth, W.Va. one granddaughter, Rebecca Smith of St. Marys, W.Va.; three great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters. He was also survived by five step-children, Gary and Dottie Lamb, Earl Lamb, Bobbie and Roger Amos of Burnt House, Gene and Patina Lamb of Parkersburg and Lois and John Hall of Elizabeth, W.Va.; eight step-grandchildren and ten step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Nelson Garrett of Coxs Mills, W.Va.; and best friends. Dwayne and Barbara Reynolds of Parkersburg, W.Va.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his second wife, E. Maxine Lamb Garrett; first wife, Helen Garrett; son, Thomas H. Garrett; brothers, Melvin and Jack Garrett; and sister, Glow Woofter, of Weston, W.Va.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 28, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St., south Parkersburg with Pastor Joe Busch officiating. Interment will follow in the Weston Masonic Cemetery, Weston, W.Va. The family will receive friends from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 27, at the funeral home.

Teresa L. Maxson

Teresa Lynn Garrison Maxson, 49, of Williamstown, W.Va., passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 22, 2009 at her residence. She was born in Parkersburg, W.Va., a daughter of Richard Garrison of Waverly, W.Va., and the late Roanna Jo Arnott Garrison.

She previously worked for the Washington County Child Assault Prevention Program. She was a member of the Sand Hill United Methodist Church, where she served as the coordinator for family life ministry and a children program leader.

She is survived by her husband Roger Maxson; one daughter Jodi Rene' Maxson of Philadelphia, PA; one brother, Jeffery Garrison of Walker, W.Va; nieces and nephews, John and Tara Maxson, Jarred Garrison, Zarek Garrison, Emmaleah Roanna Garrison; and several other nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1PM, Saturday, November 28, 2009 at the Sand Hill United Methodist Church, Boaz, W.Va., with Pastor Gary Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 on Friday, November 27, 2009 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, W.Va., and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the Sand Hill United Methodist Church Building Fund. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.

Quintella Neidhardt

Quintella Neidhardt, 96, of Vienna, W.Va., passed away Thursday, November 19, 2009, at the Eagle Pointe Nursing Facility.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 25, 2009, at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, W.Va., with visitation one hour prior to the services Wednesday at the funeral home.

William M. "Ken" Brown

William M. 'Ken' Brown, 88, of Vienna, W.Va., passed away November 19, 2009 at his residence. He was born in Princeton, W.Va., a son of the late B. H. Brown and Cleo Ratliff Brown.

He was retired from the Keene Corporation after 32 years of service; a member of the United Steel Workers Union, American Legion Post 15 and served in the United States Navy during WW II.

He is survived by five grandchildren Christopher (Roberta), Stephen (Lynn), Bethany (Denny), Susan and J.D.; step children Russell Semones, Stanley Semones, Eden Semones and Jerry Sue Pierce; two brothers Dayton and Arlon Brown; two sisters May Hazelwood and June Brown; two great grandchildren Zachary and Myklyn; numerous other step grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Mary Elizabeth Brown in 1981; second wife Alverta Pierce; one son Stephen M. Brown; brothers and sisters Gladys Clapps, Wilma White, Thelma Bailey, Emmet Brown; Violet Thomas and Henry Brown.

Cremation services have been entrusted to the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave, Vienna, W.Va. Graveside services will be held at 1PM Tuesday, November 24, 2009, at Sunset Memory Gardens. Military graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg.

Betty L. Adkins

Betty L. Adkins, 83, of Williamstown, W.Va., passed away Saturday, November 21, 2009, at her residence. She was born November 23, 1925, in Huntington, W.Va., a daughter of the late Jonah and Charlotte Hammond Whitt.

Mrs. Adkins was a homemaker and especially enjoyed reading. She also liked cooking and was a member of the Williams Creek Baptist Church.

Surviving are four daughters, Jeanie Dent and husband Tom of Parkersburg, W.Va., Pam Hupp of Williamstown, W.Va., Anita Harlan and husband Garry of New Martinsville, W.Va., and Martha Hohman and husband Bill, also of Williamstown, W.Va.; one son, Jeffrey Adkins and wife Colleen of Quaker City, OH; two sisters, Wilma Jean Barbour of Ashland, KY, and Bonnie Justice and husband Dan of Belpre, OH; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Trudy Mahoney, Rowena Sizemore, and Barb Backus, for the wonderful care they gave to Betty.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of forty-three years, Jennings M. Adkins, who passed away in 1996; one grandson, Jordan Adkins; and one sister, Jo Ann Dean.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2PM Tuesday, November 24, 2009, at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., Parkersburg, W.Va., with Mr. Jim Lynch officiating. Interment will follow at the Riverview Cemetery, Williamstown, W.Va. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8PM on Monday, November 23, 2009, at the funeral home.

Jane Casto

Jane Casto, 99, formerly of Rockport, W.Va, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, November 19, 2009 at The Willows Center in Parkersburg.

She was born December 1, 1909, in Jackson County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Charles and Clarissa Whited Harmon.

Mrs. Casto was a homemaker who loved being with her family.

She is survived by her three sons, Carles (Mary) Casto and Roger (Barbara) Casto, both of Mineral Wells, W.Va., and Kenneth (Connie) Casto of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one daughter-in-law, Helen Casto of Parkersburg, W.Va.; ten grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Ray Casto; two sons, Russell Comer and Ray Casto; and several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 21, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St., south Parkersburg with Rev. Rod Blanchard officiating. Interment will follow in the Rockport Section of the Big Tygart Cemetery in Mineral Wells, W.Va. Family will receive friends from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 20, at the funeral home and until time of services on Saturday.

Calvin L. Mayle

Calvin L. Mayle, age 89, of Zanesville, Ohio, formerly of Belpre, Ohio, died Tuesday, November 17, 2009, at the Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital in Zanesville after a long illness; his first stroke was on March 15, 2000.

He was born November 10, 1920, at Fleming, Ohio, to the late Richard and Mabel Sellers Mayle.

Mr. Mayle attended Vincent High School. He worked for farmers at Fleming and worked at Republic Steel in Canton, Ohio. He retired from Guthrie-Morris-Campbell Company in Parkersburg. He was part owner of Mayle-Starkey Carpet of Belpre. Calvin was a member of the Barnett Ridge Wesleyan Church and a cemetery trustee; he was an avid outdoorsman, an avid fisherman and hunter, and a member of the Ohio Gun Collectors, buying, selling, and trading guns was his hobby and he especially liked Winchester Guns.

In 1955, Calvin was married to Ruth Barnett who lives in Zanesville. He is also survived by nieces and nephews Gregory, Cynthia, Lawrence, and Melissa Mayle, George Scott, Gail Roosevelt, Carol Guinn, Steve Hicks, Howard Hicks, and Pamela Osgood; an aunt Majil Jenkins and a sister in-law, Rachel Lyons of Cincinnati.

He was preceded in death by his brother Ervin Mayle and sisters, Gwendolyn Hicks and Ima Scott.

Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, November 21, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 1305 Washington Boulevard, Belpre, Ohio, with Reverend Christopher Battle officiating. Burial will follow at the Barnett Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until noon on Saturday at the funeral home.

Dr. Harry L. Myer

Dr. Harry L. Myer, 87, of Vienna, W.Va., died Wednesday, November 18, 2009. Dr. Myer was born in Baltimore, MD, to the late James and Marie Hament Myer.

Dr. Myer was a 1943 graduate of Washington College, Chestertown, MD. He received his Doctor of Osteopathy Degree in 1946 from the Kirksville College of Osteopathy and Surgery, Kirksville, Missouri. He practiced at offices in Vienna and Williamstown, W.Va., and Beverly and Waterford, OH, and for over fifty years was on the Staff of Selby General Hospital.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine Barrows Myer; their two children, Leslie Noland and John Myer and wife Betsy; one grandson, Robert Noland and wife Tiffany; and two sisters, Lillian Marinelli and Marian Moran.

He was preceded in death by his brother, James Myer; and his sister, Madelyn Thorsen.

Dr. Myer was a longtime member of Wayside United Methodist Church of Vienna, W.Va., and a fifty-year Mason. Also among many other medical affiliations, an Associate Clinical Professor of Family Medicine at the WV School of Osteopathic Medicine.

He loved his family, his friends, his work, and his farm. His family would like to thank the many caregivers and friends who have helped him and them during this difficult time.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11AM Saturday, November 21, 2009, at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, W.Va., with the Rev. Dr. Patrick Kerr officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery with full Masonic rites conducted by the Vienna Masonic Lodge. The family will receive friends from 4-7PM on Friday, November 20, 2009, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the WV School of Osteopathic Medicine Foundation, 400 N. Lee St., Lewisburg, W.Va., 24901.

Eva M. Riggs

Eva M. Riggs, 92, of Vienna, W.Va., passed away Monday, November 16, 2009, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born August 8, 1917, to the late Everett M. and Ruby Grace McVey Sheppard in Wirt Co., W.Va. She married Robert L. Riggs in 1935, who preceded her in death in 1989.

She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was employed and later retired from the Diamond Department Store. She was a member of the Wayside United Methodist Church of Vienna, W.Va., and enjoyed spending her time with the Mary Martha Fellowship Group of Wayside.

She is survived by her sons, Michael (Charlotte) Riggs of Ravenswood, W.Va., and Robert (Martha) Riggs of Marietta, GA; her daughters, Jane (Joe) Grimm and Kimberlee (Tom) Pethtel, both of Marietta, OH; daughter-in-law, Barbara Riggs of Vienna, W.Va.; grandchildren, Debi Maynard, Pamela Riggs, Susan Bhati, Scott Cooper, Michael N. Riggs, Stephanie Anthony, Adam Riggs, and Tom Pethtel II; and great-grandchildren, Alan and Kiah Maynard, Isabel Bhati, and Presley Brown; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was also preceded in death by her son, Ronald Riggs; daughter-in-law, Julia Riggs; her step-father, A.J. Sheppard; six sisters; and seven brothers.

Eva's family would like to thank Dr. Richard Hershey, Dr. Robert Anderson, and the staff of Marietta Memorial Hospital and Harmer Place of Marietta.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 20, at 11AM at the Wayside United Methodist Church of Vienna, with the Rev. Dr. Patrick Kerr and the Reverend Sandy Runnion officiating. Entombment will follow at the Sunset Memory Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 19, 2009, from 2-4 and 6-8PM at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, W.Va., and also half an hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Wayside United Methodist Church Building Fund or the Mary Martha Fellowship. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
