George Samuel Boggs, 60, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away on Monday, Oct. 26, 2009, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was born Oct. 24, 1949, in Parkersburg, W.Va., a son of Margaret Richards Boggs of Parkersburg, W.Va., and the late Argel Boggs.
George graduated from Parkersburg High School, served in the United States Marine Corps and was in retail management.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by one son, Brent (Kiley) Boggs of Vienna, W.Va.; three grandchildren, Brandon, Briauna and Kaleb Samuel Boggs, all of Vienna, W.Va.; one sister, Alma J. Boggs, of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one half-sister, Betty Sue Bates of Wooster, Ohio; two nephews, Michael Becker and Tommy Conley, both of Parkersburg, W.Va.; and a great-niece and great-nephew, Amber and Andrew Conley of Parkersburg, W.Va.; and his friend and companion, Sheila Logston of Parkersburg, W.Va..
He was preceded in death by his father; and one grandson, Joshua Boggs.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, October 30, 2009, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green Street, Parkersburg, W.Va., with Pastor Mike Broadwater officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday, October 30, 2009, from 11 a.m. until time of services.
Sharlene Rose George Vreeland
Sharlene Rose George Vreeland, 73, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away on Oct. 25, 2009, at her residence.
She was born Feb. 25, 1936, in Belle, W.Va., a daughter of the late August Raymond and Irene Shawver George.
Sharlene was employed as an administrative assistant for Gene Haynes, State Farm Insurance, for over 32 years. She was a member and served as church organist at South Parkersburg Baptist Church for 52 years and was a missionary to Puerto Rico for two years. In the early 50's and 60's, Sharlene was the City Clerk for the town of Parkersburg. She was also an artist.
She is survived by one sister-in-law, Victoria A. George of Portland, Tenn.; two nieces, Becky (David) Jones of Little Hocking, Ohio, and Cathy (Jerry) Race of Brookville, Ind.; and one nephew, Jim (Robin) George of Little Hocking, Ohio.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, James F. George.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009 at South Parkersburg Baptist Church with Pastor Joe Busch officiating. Internment will follow at Evergreen South Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St. Parkersburg, W.Va., and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.
Louverna E. Givens
Louverna Enoch Givens, 88, of Parkersburg, passed away October 24, 2009, at the Willows Center. She was born in Pee Wee, Wirt Co., W.Va., a daughter of the late Homer F. and Chloie Cline Enoch.
Louverna had been employed with Camp Packing and was also a homemaker. She enjoyed crocheting, mowing her yard, and especially enjoyed her granddaughter and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Sidney Givens of Parkersburg, W.Va.; special relative, Linda Givens of Davisville, W.V.a.; one granddaughter, Janie Parsons of Fayetteville NC; three great-grandchildren, Brenden Parsons, and Sydne and Jayla Parsons, all of Fayetteville NC; and also one sister, Hyacinth Rogers of Williamstown, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert V. Givens in 2005; one son, Robert S. Givens; three sisters; and four brothers.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11AM Tuesday, October 27, 2009, at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., south Parkersburg, with Pastor Randall Kochersperger officiating. Interment will follow at the Lubeck Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8PM on Monday, October 26, 2009, at the funeral home and two hours prior to services on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Linda Gay Metz
Linda Gay Metz, 66, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away October 23, 2009, at her residence.
She was born Dec. 27, 1942, a daughter of the late Paul Thomas and Ernestine Allen Farr.
Linda was a 1962 graduate of Parkersburg High School and retired from Union Insulating. She was married to her soul mate, Charles 'Denny' Metz for 47 years. She was a member of the South Parkersburg United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Robin (Scott) Sinnett of Coolville, Ohio; her son, Craig (Gayla) Metz of Vienna, W.Va.; seven grandchildren, Courtney (Mark) Byrd of Parkersburg, Derrick (Natalie) Knapp of Walker, W.Va., Cody (Sarah) Metz of Avella, Pa., and Kendra, Cole, Cory and Kylie Metz of Vienna; three step-grandchildren, Morgan and Travis Wright of Vienna, and Erica (Josh) Gorrell of Delaware; three great-grandchildren, Braxton Byrd, Maddox Burwell and Hailey Metz; her brother, Larry Thomas Farr of Mineral Wells, W.Va.; her sister, Paula (Werner) Zoller of Parkersburg; nephews, Jon, Robert Thomas and David Farr; and nieces, Beverly Minear, Teena Musgrave and Stacey Varner.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles 'Denny' Metz, who has been waiting for her for seven months; her brother, Alan Ernest Farr; and her aunt, Garnet Reeder.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 26, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, south Parkersburg with Pastor Rick Brown and Pastor Phil Prunty officiating. Interment will follow at Metz Chapel Cemetery in Ritchie County, where she will rejoin her husband. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 25, at the funeral home.
Larry S. Kuhn
Larry S. Kuhn, 61, of Marietta, Ohio, passed away Oct. 22, 2009, at the Marietta Memorial Hospital.
He was born Jan. 20, 1948, in Parkersburg, W.Va., a son of the late Smith and Ruby Knick Kuhn. Larry was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam Era, where he received two purple hearts, two bronze stars and an air metal. He was a retired ironworker, was a member of the Peace Memorial Baptist Church, Winnabow, N.C., and enjoyed golfing.
Surviving is his wife of 27 years, Barbara Kuhn; one son, Scott Kuhn of Jackson, Tennessee.; one daughter, Tracee Cruz of Jackson, Tennessee.; two stepsons, Scott Guthrie of The Plains, Ohio, and Larry Guthrie of New Port Ritchie, Florida.; one stepdaughter, Michelle Gonzales of Lockhart, Texas; one sister, Betty Jenkins and her husband, Don, of Belpre, Ohio; one half-brother, Wayne Metz; three grandsons; four stepgrandsons; one stepgranddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his half-brother, Charles Kuhn.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, October 26, 2009, at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, with the Rev. Hoyt King officiating. Entombment will follow at the Sunset Memory Gardens and Mausoleum with full military rites by the American Legion Post 15. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, October 25, 2009, at the funeral home.
Archie E. Bowersock
Archie E. Bowersock, 79, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away on October 22, 2009 at Worthington Manor.
He was born March 17, 1930, in Wood County, W.Va., a son of the late Emmett and Inez Staats Bowersock.
Archie was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, was a self-employed car salesman and was a successful, self-made man.
He is survived by three sons, Michael K. Bowersock of Vienna, W.Va., David (Robin) Bowersock of Salt Rock, W.Va. and Jim (Ginger) Bowersock of South Hills, Va.; two step-daughters, Carol (Butch) Orr of Walker, W.Va. and Jessica (Robert) Boyd of Weston, Fla.; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.
Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, October 26, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, south Parkersburg with Pastor Tony Raffa officiating. Interment will follow at Kanawha Baptist Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Monday at the funeral home.
David R. VanMeter
David Robert VanMeter, 50, of Belpre, OH, passed away, Monday, October 19, 2009, at his residence.
He was born July 25, 1959 in Gallipolis, OH, a son of Emma Mae McHenry of Belpre, OH, and the late James Robert VanMeter.
David had been employed as Manager, at the Kroger Company in Greensboro, North Carolina, where he was a member of the UFCW Union. He enjoyed golfing.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sisters, Roberta Coppola (Ron) of Overland Park, Kansas, and Doris Jacobsen (Howard) of Belpre, OH; two brothers, George Curtis (Pam) of Torch, OH, and Bob Moore (Tonia) of Belpre, OH; and eight nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Belpre, OH, with the Rev. David Hubbard officiating.
Burial will follow in the Randolph Cemetery in Reedsville, Ohio.
Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services Friday at the funeral home.
Carl Reynolds
Carl Reynolds, 95, of Williamstown, W.Va., passed away Oct. 18, 2009, at his residence.
He was born in Wood County, W.Va. a son of the late Harvey and Lillian Sheets Reynolds. He was retired from Fenton Art Glass and a member of the Williamstown Church of God.
Carl is survived by his wife, Nila K. McGraw Wright Reynolds; children, Connie (Aubry) Sands and James (Betty) Reynolds, both of Williamstown, W.Va., Gene (June) Reynolds of Walker, Tim Reynolds of Pleasant City, Ohio, and Shelby (Juan) Grabowski of Atlanta, Ga.; daughter-in-law, Donna Reynolds of Williamstown, W.Va.; three sisters, Virginia Boso of Little Hocking, Ohio, Florida Sholes and Dollie Patterson, both of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one brother, Earl Reynolds of Vincent, Ohio; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Madeline Freshour Reynolds; one son, Ronald Reynolds; four brothers; and two sisters.

Kapri Nikole Little
Kapri Nikole Little, the beautiful infant daughter of Amanda Sue Little, received her angel wings on Oct. 15, 2009.
She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Evelyn and Douglas Canfield; her aunt, Barbara Marie Little; along with several other loved ones.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her grandmother, Cynthia Barnette Cain; her grandfather, Pete Little; her great-grandparents, Virgil and Judy Barnette; her aunts, Nicholeen Little, Amber Dulaney and Kristina Babcock; her uncles, James Little and Adam Raught; along with several great-aunts and uncles, cousins and extended family that love her dearly.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St. Parkersburg, W.Va., with Teddy Tacket officiating. A graveside service will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Mineral Wells, W.Va.
Thomas Eugene Neale
Thomas Eugene Neale, 83, died Sunday, October 11, 2009, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
He was born in Wood County, W.Va., on September 19, 1926, son of the late Howard F. Neale and the late Gertrude B. Foster Neale.
Tom was a graduate of Parkersburg High School, class of 1944, and Ohio University, class of 1949, where he earned a degree is psychology. He also completed the Principles of Management Course from the Chamber of Commerce Institute at the University of Michigan. He served in the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve, from 1948-50. He was a member of Stout Memorial United Methodist Church.
His professional life was very active and diverse. After more than ten years in the radio business, where he worked as a broadcaster, advertising director, and sports analyst, Tom began a long association with Parkersburg's WTAP Television. His twelve years at WTAP, as a sportscaster, news anchor and program director, made him remain widely recognizable until his death. Tom was the first person to appear on WTAP when it went on the air in 1953.
After leaving WTAP-TV, Tom became Director of Marketing and Public Relations for Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital in Parkersburg, where he worked for an additional twelve years before retiring in 1991. He remained loyal to CCMH for an additional 19 years after retirement as a hospital volunteer.
In addition, Tom served as Assistant Managing Director for the Parkersburg Chamber of Commerce and the Executive Director of the Parkersburg Retail Merchants Association. He also was a former Executive Vice-President for the Marietta Chamber of Commerce and the Secretary of the Marietta Retail Merchants Association.
Tom also served the local area as past Chapter Chairman for the Mid-Ohio Valley American Red Cross, a past Chairman of the Parkersburg and Wood County Visitors and Convention Bureau, and a Past President of the Smoot Theater Board of Directors. He also served as a dedicated and active member of the Parkersburg High School Foundation.
Tom was well-known as 'The Voice of the Big Reds' as the stadium play by play announcer at all Parkersburg High School football games for 32 years.
Tom was a member of the Benevolent and Protective order of Elks #198, . He was a member of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, Mount Olivet Lodge #3; the Scottish Rite, Valley of Parkersburg, and the Ancient and Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine, Nemesis Temple of Parkersburg, where he was a member of the Directors Staff. He was a member and Past President of the Ohio Valley Shrine Club and a member of the Ben Bay Grotto.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by Marjorie Snider Neale, until her death in 2003.
Tom is survived by his wife, Maxine Marshall Neale of Parkersburg, his son, Steven L. Neale of Phoenix, Arizona, and his step-daughter, Linda Marshall (Richard) Board of Vienna, W.Va.; a step-grandson, Jeffrey Marshall Board (Angie) of Vienna, W.Va.; and a step-great-grandson, Chase Michael Board of Vienna, W.Va.
Funeral services will be conducted by Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home of Vienna on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Scott Sears officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery with Masonic graveside services presented by Mount Olivet Lodge #3. In lieu of flowers, Tom's family requests that donations be made to the Stout Memorial United Methodist Church Building Fund or to the Shrine Crippled Children Hospitals.
Marian Marguerite Yarbor
Marian Marguerite Yarbor, 88, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away Oct. 10, 2009, at St. Joseph's Hospital.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Yarbor of Parkersburg; brother-in-law and his wife, Neal and Viola Strong of Parkersburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home, South Bend, Ind., and interment will follow at the Highland Cemetery, South Bend, Ind.
Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St. Parkersburg, W.Va., is in charge of local arrangements.
