Atlas May Morgan
Atlas May Morgan, 80, of Cool Ridge, W. Va. died October 10, 2003 at the residence of her daughter, Rebecca M. Settles, at Cool Ridge, W. Va.

Born May 15, 1923, at Simon, W. Va., she was the daughter of the late Brian and Lena Morgan Kenneda.

She was preceded by her husband, the late Powell P. Morgan, Sr, as well as two sisters, Parlie Harper and Maxine Harper.

A retired school cook, store merchant and homemaker, she was a member of the Open Door Church at Shady Springs, W. Va. and a former member of the Long Branch Freewill Baptist at Long Branch (Simon, W. Va.).

She is survived by a daughter, Rebecca M. Settles of Cool Ridge, W. Va.; two sons, Powell P. Jr and wife, (Dianna) Morgan of Simon, W. Va. and Freddie R. and wife, (Betty) Morgan of North Spring, W. Va.; a brother, Jennings Kenneda of Simon, W. Va.; five sisters, Alberta Moore of Cool Ridge, W. Va., Wanda Cook of Simon, W. Va., Linnie Lawrance of Simon, W. Va., Doris Wingler of Williamson, W. Va. and Sun Ann Lester of Hanover, W. Va.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2003 at the Long Branch Freewill Baptist Church at Simon, W. Va. with Rev. George Smith and Rev. George Speck officiating. Burial will follow in the Morgan cemetery at Josh Fork of Long Branch, W. Va.

Grandsons and neaphews will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may call the Open Door Church at Shady Springs Monday evening from 6-9 p.m. and anytime Tuesday at the Long Branch Freewill Baptist Church, Long Branch, Simon, W. Va.

Mounts Funeral Home of Gilbert, W. Va. is in charge of arrangements.

Lottie Goodman
Lottie Goodman, 69, of Bruno, W. Va., passed away Sunday, Oct. 12, 2003, at Logan (W. Va.) Regional Medical Center.

She was born Oct. 12, 1934, in Bruno, to the late Doss and Effie Grimmett Grimmett.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2003, 1 p.m., at Bruno Church of God, Bruno, W. Va. with Rev. Johnny Gray, Rev. Roger Frye and Rev. Bill Cantrell officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens, Pecks Mill, W. Va.

Friends may call the Bruno Church of God, Tuesday evening, from 6 p.m. until midnight.

Mounts Funeral Home of Gilbert, W. Va. is in charge of arrangements.

Ernestine Floyd
On Oct. 12, 2003, Ernestine "Ernie" Fillinger Floyd went to be with our Lord. She was 74 years old.

Ernie was born in Delbarton, on Jan. 26, 1929. She moved to Texas in 1948. She was a hairdresser in Corpus Christi for 27 years. She originated the cosmetology programs at Miller High School and Del Mar Junior College, both in Corpus Christi. She taught for 21 years at Del Mar. She has received numerous honors such as past president of Affiliate 1 Hairdresser's Association and past Teacher of the Year at Del Mar. Ernie helped to begin the "Look Good, Feel Better Program" for cancer and terminally ill patients. She has numerous antique cosmetology items on display at the Corpus Christi Museum.

Moving to Tyler in 2000, Ernie joined First Christian Church. She was previously a member of Central Christian Church, Bethany Christian, and Prescott Church, all in Corpus Christi.

Ernie is survived by her husband of 53 years, M.D. Floyd. Her two daughters also survive her, Cindie Maynard (Phil) of Chapel Hill, and Pam Frick of Jasper, Ind. Ernie was blessed with two granddaughters, Stephanie Alexander (Cory) of Whitehouse, Texas, and Crystal Cansler (Chance) of Henderson, Texas. Ernie has several nieces and nephews and countless special friends. Ernie has touched so many lives, especially her many students.

Services and burial will take place at Memory Gardens, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 14 and services will be by Rev. Don Tharp of Victoria, on Wednesday, Oct. 15, at 2:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Cory Alexander (grandson), Stociho "Kelly" Calibatsef, Chance Cansler (grandson), Bill Garrett, Bill Kennermer, and Charles Thompson. Honorary pallbearers will be Cyrus T. Reagan and Malcolm Friedrichs.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Del Mar Cosmetology Scholarship Fund at 101 Baldwin, Corpus Christi, Texas 78404-3897.

Evelyn Teresa Cline
Mrs. Evelyn Teresa Cline, 81, of Hanover went home to be with the Lord on Oct. 11, 2003 following an extended illness.

She was born Dec. 12, 1922, in Christian, W. Va. She was the daughter of the late Julis Johnson and Mary Louise Walker Johnson.

In addition to her parents she was proceeded in death by her husband, Howard Cline, brothers Lankford Johnson, Cecil "Omer" John-son, and Raymond Johnson, a sister Myrtle Eldridge and a grandson Brian Tilley.

She was a homemaker and a devoted Christian. She was a member of the Church of Zion at Ikes Fork for 33 years where she loved to sing and worship. Until her illness, she was very active in the church Ladies Aide and very involved with the fund raising efforts for the church building fund.

She is survived by five daughters and their spouses: Thelma and Arden Lester of Hanover, Charlotte Rose and companion Charlie Roark of Ikes Fork. Patricia and Junior Hatfield of Woodbridge Va., Susan Toler of Hanover and Sharon and Jerry "Tom" Cline of Justice, two sons and their spouses: Bob and Sue Cline of Brenton, Mark and Gena Cline of Brenton, and son-in-law Steve Toler of Hanover, 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, one sister-in-law and her spouse : Ines and Shirley Lester of Hanover, one brother-in-law Linzie Lester of Hanover, special friends and caretakers Glenna Dunnigan, Tammy Roberts, Sharon Kenneda, Mary Justice, a host of nieces and nephews and friends to mourn her loss.

Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, October 16 at 11 am at The Church Of Zion, Ikes Fork .with Rev. Alive Lilly, Rev. Rickey Browning, and Rev. Shirley Lester officiating Burial will follow in the Adams cemetery on Rock House Mountain near Hanover.

Friends may call Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 9 pm at the Chapel of Fanning Funeral Home, Iaeger. .

Pallbearers will be Steve Toler, Kip Lester, Randy Lester, Jamie Lester, Jeff Meade, Jeff Rose, Howie Toler, Jeremy Toler, Josh Cline, JD Estepp, Zach Lester, and William Lester.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Freddie Harless, Freddy Browning, Richard Brown, Ronnie Lester, Shirley Lester, Bruce Burgress, and Leroy Lester.

Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger is in charge of arrangements.

Roy H. Fuller
Mr. Roy H. Fuller, 68, of Isaban, died at his home, late Sunday afternoon, Oct. 12, 2003, following a long illness.

Funeral services will be conducted at the chapel of Fanning Funeral Home, Iaeger Wednesday, Oct. 15 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Jack Elliott and the Rev. Mason Perry officiating, assisted by Donnie Ray Stacy. Burial will follow in the Iaeger Memorial cemetery at Roderfield.

Born Nov. 4, 1934 at Isaban, he was the son of the late Jayhue and Sadie Griffey Fuller. He was a retired miner. He last worked at National Steele. He also worked for Peter White Coal Company at Isaban. He was a member of the Isaban Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his first wife, Eloise Fuller and two sisters, Bertha Lester and Vergie Profit.

He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Deloris Fuller of the home, six daughters: Sheree Gilbert of Galena, Ohio, Laura Watson of Grove City, Ohio, Jean Butts, of Greensboro, N.C., Connie Taylor of Ashville, Ohio, Tracie Johnson, of Columbus, Ohio, and Twila Lester of Tazewell, Va.; four brothers: Rader Fuller and Lee Fuller both of Isaban, Porter Fuller of Beckley and Grant Fuller of Justice; two sisters: Sara Bailey of Coatsville Pa., Margie Fuller of Isaban, and a two very special care givers an friends, Teresa Lester and Leslie Lester of Isaban; a special niece, Karen Lester of Isaban; and 14 grandchildren.

Special thanks to the Dignity Hospice of Chapmansville for their excellent care and devotion.

Friends may call at the Chapel of Fanning Funeral Home, Iaeger from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Pallbearers will be friends and family.

Larry Glenn Baisden
Larry Glenn Baisden, 56, formerly of Kermit, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 12, 2003, at his residence in Schereville, Ind.

Born on July 25, 1947, in Kermit, he was a son of Clyde Baisden of Kermit and the late Lucille Baisden. He was a retired steel worker from Inland Steel.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Baisden; and four brother, Ronnie Baisden, Dale Baisden, Jeffrey Baisden and Barry Baisden; and one sister, Mary Baisden.

Along with his father, Mr. Baisden is survived by two sons, Gregory Baisden of West Lafeyette, Ind., and Jeffrey Baisden of the home; two brothers, Carl (Paula) Baisden of Demotte, Ind., and Bruce (Carol) Baisden of Hebron, Ind.; three sisters, Annetta (David) Brewer of Bridgeport, W. Va., and Julie (Bruce) Stepp and Teresa Moore, both of Kermit; one sister-in-law, Brenda Baisden of Schereville; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 16, 2003, at the Kuiper Funeral Home in Highland, Ind., with Bill Hallset officiating. Burial will follow in the Calumet Park cemetery in Merriville, Ind.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Oct. 15, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. George Lillian King
Mrs. George Lillian King, 83, of Iaeger, passed away peacefully at her home early Friday morning, following a short illness.

Born Sept. 15, 1920 in Baisden, the daughter of the late Carl and Hattie Cline Mounts. She graduated from Gilbert High School in 1939; she was married July 27, 1940 to the Elder George King and mothered seven children.

She was a devout Christian of the Apostolic Faith and a member of the Christ Cathedral, where she served as the mother of the church. She was an avid fisherman.

She will be sadly missed by her family, church friends and a host of relatives.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elder George King, three brothers, Arden, Oscar and Namon Mounts.

Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Boyd (Judi) Ellis of Greensboro, N.C., Mrs. Danny (Christine) Belcher of Bluefield, Darlene Long of Cartersville, Ga. and Mrs. Roger ) Marilyn) Faith of Iaeger; three sons, Rev. Russell and wife Frances King of Iaeger, Jerry and wife Betty of Clearfork; three sisters, Lillie Collins of Gilbert, Clarice Beheler of Baisden and Cala Mounts of Pigeon Forge, Tenn., 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, October 6, 2003, at the Christ Cathedral Church, Iaeger, at noon with Evangelist Garland Cook officiating.

Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Bluewell.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

Roy Carlos Jude, Sr.
Roy Carlos Jude, Sr., 64, of Gilbert, W. Va. died October 4, 2003 at the Logan Regional Medical Center, Logan, W. Va.

Born Sept. 8, 1939 at Gilbert, W. Va., he was the son of the late John, Sr. and Minta Simpson Jude.

He is the husband of Billie Maberry Jude of Gilbert, W. Va.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Laminta Jude, and a sister, Buelah Jude.

A retired coal miner, he was a member of the Justice Freewill Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and Sunday School Superintendent.

Surviving other than his wife are two sons, Roy Carlos "Stoney" Jude of Amherest, W. Va. and Paul Stephen Jude of Amherest, W. Va.; seven brothers, Rex Jude of Parkersburg, W. Va., John Jude, Jr. of Gilbert, W. Va., Jack Jude of Justice, WV, Sonny Jude, of Justice, W. Va., Denny Judge of Gilbert, W. Va., Dexter Jude of Hanover of W. Va. and Jesse Jude of Wilkinson, W. Va.; three sisters, Martha Adkins, of Gilbert, W. Va.; Naomi Harrison of Justice, W. Va. and Judy Simpson of Justice, W. Va.; two granddaughters, Katie Nicole and Lynn Marie Jude.

Funeral services will be held at noon Tuesday, October 7, 2003 at the Justice Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Sid Moore, Rev. Cecil Johnson and Rev. Eddie Isom officiating.

Burial is pending.

Nephews will serve as active pallbearers.

Howard 'Hunkie' Spence
Howard "Hunkie" Spence, 77, of Conley Hollow, Delbarton, W. Va. passed away October 5, 2003 in the St. Mary's Hospital in Huntington, W. Va.

Born Oct. 16, 1925 at Belo, W. Va., he was the son of the late Okey and Audra Davis Spence.

He was also preceded in death by brothers Jack, Earl and Wade Spence.

He was a member of the Caney Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Frasher Spence; a daughter, Donna Edwards of Greenville, S.C.; a son, Jack Chafins of Dayton, Ohio; five brothers, Dan Spence of Rootstown, Ohio, Bob Spence of Mantua, Ohio, Mayo Spence of Ohio, Elmer Spence of Mentor, Ohio, and Willis Spence of Conley Hollow, Delbarton, W. Va.; two sisters, Wealthy Dillon and Cleo Wyant of Paintsville, Ky.; grandchildren Chris Edwards of Greenville, N.C. and Karyn Reagan of Coldwater, Miss., and a host of other grandchildren. He is also survived by host of friends and family.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Chafin Funeral Home at later date.

Ira Baiseden
Ira Baisden, 67, of Elk Creek, passed away on Friday, Oct. 3, 2003, at the St. Mary's Hospital in Huntington, W. Va., as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Born July 9, 1936, at Dingess, he was the son of the late Boyd Sr. and Ethel Grubb Baisden. He was a member of the America United Baptist Church of Delbarton.

He was also preceded in death by brothers, Freddie, Kyle, Jay, Earl, Earnest, Willis and Namen Baisden; sisters, Dora Conley, Carrie Baisden and Blanch Maynard.

He is survived by brothers, Boyd Baisden Jr. and wife Alfreda of Sandyville, W. Va.; sisters, Mae Mullins and Margaret Adair, both of Florida;, Mrs. Frank (Effie) Carey of Elk Creek, and Betty Varney of Ona, W. Va.; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at noon, Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003, at the Chafin Funeral Home in Delbarton with the Elder Eddie Layne and the Rev. Dan Browning officiating. Burial will follow in the Baisden-Conley cemetery in Dingess.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., on Monday with a prayer service beginning at 7 p.m.

Gregory Allen Wright
Gregory Allen Wright, 49, of Goodview, Va., formerly of North Matewan, W. Va., passed away Sunday, October 5, 2003, at his residence.

Born February 3, 1954, in Williamson, W. Va., to Betty Estepp of Matewan, W. Va. and the late Thomas E. Estepp, he was a retired staff sergeant from the U.S. Air Force with 22 years of service.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Estes Wright; and paternal grandparents, Ed and Rosie Estepp.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his maternal grandmother, Delma Wright of North Matewan, W. Va.; longtime companion, Laurie Caldwell of Goodview, Va.; son, Chad Wright of Roanoke, Va.; daughter, Amber Wright of Tennessee; brothers, Barry Estepp of Matewan, W. Va., Gary Estepp of Koontz, Tex. and Thomas Randall Estepp of California; sister, Teresa Hatfield of Newtown, W. Va.; and one grandchild, Kirsten Wright of Tennessee.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced at a later date by Carden-Tharp Funeral Home in Bedford, Va.
