Roger Neil Ellis, 47, of Baisden, departed this life on Tuesday, January 15, 2008, at Roderfield, WV.
Born on August 4, 1960 at Man, he was the son of the late Roy and Ina Lee 'Maw' (Kollff) Ellis.
In addition to his parent he was preceded in death by a brother, Junior Wayne Ellis and a sister, Emma Jean Christian.
Roger was a disabled coal miner and of the Jesus Name Faith.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of Roger are: his loving wife, Joyce Lester Ellis, his son, Roger Wayne Ellis, his two daughters: Joanna Hatfield and Joetta Ellis, all of Baisden; his three grandchildren: Whitney Hatfield of Baisden, Anthony Hinkle of Wharncliffe, and Brittney Salmons of Baisden; his four brothers: Robert (Connie) Ellis, Randy (Kim) Ellis, Steve (Elaine) Ellis, and Lee (Gladys) Ellis, all of Baisden; his two sisters: Ann (Randy) Morrison of Christian, and Wanda (Larry) Muncy of Baisden; and a host of family and friends.
Friends called at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert on Monday, January 21st from 6 to 9 pm. Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, January 22nd at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Clifford Rawls and the Rev. Martha Boyd officiating. Burial followed in the Hatfield cemetery at Sharon Heights, Hampden, WV. Pallbearers were his brothers and Rick Queen.

Herbert 'Herbie' Edward Trent, 64 of Verner, departed this life on Tuesday, January 15, 2008, at Logan Regional Medical Center at Logan.
Born on July 24, 1943 at Logan, he was the son of the late Guy and Mollie (Vincent) Trent, Sr.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Charlene (Runyon) Trent; his maternal grandparents: Fonzo E. & Virgie (Allen) Vincent; his paternal grandparents: Marian & Lillian (Ellis) Trent; his maternal uncle and aunt: Robert (Millicent) Vincent and Virginia (Lee) Bragg; and his father-in-law, Arden Runyon.
Herbert was a retired SFC, with the rank of E-7, with 25 years of service in the US ARMY. He served three overseas tours, two of which were served in Vietnam. He received the Good Conduct Medal, the Vietnam Social Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, four Purple Hearts, the Joint Service Accommodation Medal, and four Army Accommodation Medals. He was also a field and combat medic. He was involved with civic organizations such as the Gilbert Kiwanis Club. He was director of the JROTC program at Man Junior High School at Man, and he worked at the VA Hospital in Beckley. He was of the protestant faith.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of 'Herbie' are: his brother, Guy Trent, Jr. and his wife Debbie (Hatfield) Trent of Florida; his niece, Leona (Trent) Hamrick of Florida; his maternal aunt, Margie NcNeely of Verner; his maternal uncle, F. E. (Pearl) Vincent of Buckhannon; his mother-in-law, June Runyon of Gilbert; a special canine companion, Bandit; and a host of family and friends.
Friends called at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert on Friday, January 18th from 6 to 9 pm. Funeral services were held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, January 19th 2008 at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Chris Turner officiating. Burial followed in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby Heights, Pecks Mill. Military honors were provided by the West Virginia Army National Guard.
Pallbearers were: Joe Hatfield, Roy Grimmett, Bob Griffith, Ronnie 'Buck' Hatfield, Tom White, and Vincent Clay. Honorary pallbearers were: Jimmy Bragg, F. E. Vincent, Jr., Kevin Washington, Buddy Morgan, Clyde Lester, Richard McGuire, J. R. Ellis, and William Peak.

Jeremy Scott Roberts, 27, of the Tamcliffe section of Gilbert, departed this life on Saturday, January 12, 2008, at his residence.
Born March 18, 1980 at Man, he was the son of Kenneth Roberts and the late Rosalie Walls Roberts.
In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Clinton Walls; and his paternal grandfather, Mervil Roberts.
Jeremy was a general laborer, a 1998 graduate of Gilbert High School, and attended the Christian Freewill Baptist Church.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of Jeremy are: his father, Kenneth Roberts of Tamcliffe; his two brothers: Jason Todd (Natasha) Roberts of Hanover and Chad Justin Roberts of Tamcliffe; his two special nephews: Blake and Braden Roberts of Hanover; his special neice, Marissa Roberts of Hanover; his maternal grandmother, Grethel Walls of Tamcliffe; his paternal grandmother, Opal Roberts of Mallory; and a host of family and friends who will miss him greatly.
Friends called at the Christian Freewill Baptist Church at Christian, on Wednesday, January 16th from 6 pm to midnight. Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, January 17th, 2008, at the Christian Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Roger Browning and the Rev. James Ellis officiating. Burial followed in the Skyline cemetery at Justice.
Pallbearers were: Mark Lester, Greg Cline, Josh Grimmett, Shawn Blackburn, Matthew Plumley, and Willard Plumley. Honorary pallbearers were: Louie Walls, Fred Hatfield, Chuckie Morgan, Ricky Roberts, Marvin Roberts, Richard Walls, and Ricky Walls.

Wonnie Cline Blackburn, 85 of Baisden, departed this life on Wednesday, January 2, 2008, at her residence.
Born on July 10, 1922, at Baisden, she was the daughter to the late Ranse and Lulu (Morgan) Cline.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Blackburn in 1971; five brothers: Phil, Wilburn, Ranse, Jr., Wayne, and Matheny Cline; and three sisters: Lennie Cline, Allie Cline, and Tessie Brown.
Wonnie was a homemaker and of the Pentecostal faith.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of Wonnie are: her three sons: Earl (Patty) Blackburn, Robert 'Sambo' (Imagene) Blackburn, and Ricky Blackburn, all of Baisden; her three daughters: Mickey (Bill) Vincent of Gilbert, Barbara (Carlos) Wiley of Baisden, and Drema (Joe) McVicker of Buckhannon; her 14 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
Friends called at the Freedom Full Gospel Assembly House of Prayer at Hampden, on Saturday, January 5th after 6 pm. Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, January 6th 2008, at the Freedom Full Gospel Assembly House of Prayer with the Rev. Bill Cresong, Rev. Jonas Trent, and the Rev. Carl Wolford officiating. Burial followed in the Perry cemetery at Baisden.
Pallbearers were: Joe McVicker, Ricky Joe Cline, Ricky Ray Cline, Bob Blackburn, Bobby Blackburn, Dwayne New, Joe New, and Gregory Gravely.

Jayden McKenzee Heath Sims, our sweet little angel, departed this life on December 19, 2007 from CAMC Women & Children's Hospital in Charleston.
Born on December 19, 2007 in Charleston she was the daughter of Terry Michael Sims II and Brittany Heath.
She was preceded in death by her maternal great-grandparents: Otis & Edna Hatfield; paternal great-grandparents: Lawerence Lester and Robert & Mary Sims; and a special uncle, Gary Hatfield.
In addition to her parents those left to love and cherish the memory of Jayden are: her maternal grandparents: Carolyn Heath of Gilbert and Robert Heath of Keyser; paternal grandparents: Terry Sims of Frankfort KY and Zelphia Lester of Baisden; her maternal great-grandparents: Paul and Patsy Heath of Marion VA; her paternal great-grandmother, Bertha Lester of Baisden; her uncle, Jamey (Valerie) Lester of Baisden; her three aunts: Tabitha Brown of Marion VA, Alisha (Jason) Hatfield of Bruno, and special aunt, Allison Heath of Gilbert; her eight cousins: Kelly Brown of Marion VA, Jenna & Dayton Hatfield of Bruno, Hayley Lester of Baisden, Staci & Cameron Hatfield of Justice, and Brandon & Bradley Blankenship of Gilbert; her god-parents, Homer & Kristie Blankenship of Gilbert; and a host of other family and friends who love and miss her.
Friends called at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert on Wednesday, December 26th from 6 to 9 pm. Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, December 27, 2007 at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Homer Blankenship, Jr. officiating. Burial followed in the Cline cemetery at North Spring. Pallbearers were: Homer Jr. & Brandon Blankenship and Cameron & Greg Hatfield.

Monica Lynn (Wisecup) Lemon, 37, of Davin, departed this life to be reunited with her daughter Adrieanne on December 20, 2007, from Logan Regional Medical Center.
Born on June 9, 1970 at Portsmouth, VA, she was the daughter of Brenda (Shull) & Gregory Gent and Asa Roger Wisecup.
In addition to her daughter Adrieanne Oretta Lemon she was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents: Dewey & Oretta Shull; paternal grandparents: Everett & Virginia Wisecup; and father-in-law, Bob Lemon.
Monica was a homemaker, a member of the Gilbert High School Honor Society, the GHS band, and had completed a year of college for nursing. She was of the Baptist faith.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of Monica are: her husband, Robert 'Robbie' Lemon of Davin; her parents: Brenda (Gregory) Gent of Cyclone, and Asa Roger Wisecup of Georgia; her brother, Roger Dewayne Wisecup of Christian; her two favorite nephews: Blake Dustin and Ryan Scott Queen of Tamcliffe; her favorite aunt, Kathy (Butch) Cline of Hanover, her mother-in-law, Janice Lemon of Davin; her brother-in-law, Ronnie (Nancy) Lemon of Davin, and a host of family and friends.
Friends called at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert on Sunday, December 23rd from 6 to 9 pm. Funeral services were held at 11:00 am on Monday, December 24, 2007, at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Michael Browning officiating. Burial followed in Palm Memorial Gardens at Matheny.
Family and friends served as pallbearers.

Michael Donovan May, 40, of Birmingham/Bessimer Alabama, formally of Verner, departed this life on Monday, December 17, 2007, in Birmingham.
Born on June 21, 1967 at Welch, he was the son of Melanie Chapman May Hess and Ronald Hess of Verner and Billy Gene May of Wasilla, Alaska. He is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Racy Chapman, whom he loved like a father, and Junior Greely May.
Michael was a truck driver and heavy equipment operator for Graves Recovery. He was a truck driver by trade and owned and operated his own business for many years.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of Michael are: his parents; his daughter, Kayla Ann May (Brandon Gerace) of Taplin; his only grandson: Cameron Blake Gerace; his son, Zachary Blake May of Man; two special children, Kyle Gregory Perry and Lavonna Jocelyn Walls New, whom he loves as his own; his sister, Angela 'Angie' May of Verner; his brother, John (Connie) May of Baisden, and brother and sister, Billy May and Beverly Mosley of Alaska; his grandmothers: Marie Chapman of Verner, and June May of Milton; his nephews: Robert and Nicholas May of Baisden, and his niece and nephews: Katy Mosley, and William and Charley May of Alaska; and a multitude of friends whose lives he touched.
Friends called at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert on Saturday, December 22nd from 6 to 9 pm. Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, December 23rd, 2007 at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Rose officiating. Burial followed in the Justice Memorial Gardens at Justice.
Pallbearers were: Kevin Allen, Bill May, Gene Harris, Russell 'Ace' Sheppard, Ron Jeffers, David Riffe, and Jeff Cline. Honorary pallbearers were: Marty Fortner, Johnny Wiley, Eddie Chapman, Doug Chapman, Butch Cline, Joey Walls, and Michael Perry.

Robert Earl Baisden, Jr. 84, of Gilbert, departed this life on Sunday, December 16, 2007, to be reunited with his parents, brothers, and sisters to live in the presence of his Heavenly Father.
Born on October 12, 1923 at Big Creek in Logan County, he was the son of the late Robert E. Baisden Sr. and Mary Etta Duty Baisden. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by five brothers: Arlie Howard Baisden, Orville Curtis Baisden, Norville Don Baisden, Charlie Lewis Baisden, and Vernon Ray Baisden; and four sisters: Flossie Pearl Baisden Cooper, Lilly Alice Baisden Dotson, Loraine Baisden, and Rosa Lee Baisden Maynard.
Robert was a retired coal miner with the Twin Action Mining Company and a member of the UMWA local 7555. He was a member of the Gilbert Church of Christ located in Gilbert. He was always proud to say that his dad helped to start the Church in Gilbert. He was baptized on October 22, 2000. Robert loved to walk at the LJH Community Center with his walking buddies. He enjoyed eating lunch at the Gilbert Senior Citizens with his friends. He was a coin collector. His wonderful friends from BB&T and the Bank of Mingo made sure that he got the state quarters as soon as they arrived.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of Robert are: his daughters: Donna Leigh (Wayne) Baisden Ellis of Gilbert, and Beverly Lynne (Kim) Baisden Baldwin of Chapmanville; his sister, Loretta (Bruce) Baisden Savage of Allardt, TN; his four grandchildren: Todd (Peggy) Johnson of Logan, Stephanie Ellis of Piney Flats, TN, Wayne A. Ellis II and Cameron T. Ellis both of Gilbert; his 2 great grandchildren: Krystyn Johnson and Grace Alexandra Ellis; his three sisters-in-law: Joan Dotson Baisden, Dorthy Browning Baisden, and Irene Gross Baisden; his two brothers-in-law: Tom Maynard and Bruce Savage; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Friends called at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert on Wednesday, December 19th from 6 to 9 pm. Funeral services were held at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 20th 2007 at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel with Steven Baisden (nephew of Robert), Evangelist Jimmy Morgan, and Evangelist David Blankenship officiating. Burial followed in the Baisden Family cemetery at North Fork of Big Creek Chapman Branch in Logan County.
Honorary pallbearers were: Johnnie Adams, Ed Baldwin, Bill Cresong, Richard Ellis, James H. Harless, Tom Maynard, O. M. Perry, and Pedro Mounts. Pallbearers were: Eugene Baisden, Shawn Baldwin, Cameron Ellis, Wayne Ellis II, Bruce Savage, Bruce Savage Jr., Milton Johnson and Todd Johnson.
