Charles Simpson, Sr., 68, of Justice, departed this life on Wednesday, February 13, 2008, at his residence.
Born on February 24, 1939 at Neds Branch, he was the son of the late Dan and Doran (McClanahan-Sloan) Simpson.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Delbert E. Simpson; a granddaughter, Amanda R. Hatfield; 5 sisters and 1 brother.
Charles was a disabled coal miner and of the Pentecostal Faith.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of Charles are: his loving wife of 50 years, Shirley Simpson; his two daughters: Leslie Ann (Jesse) Hatfield and Sharon Simpson both of Justice; his son, Charles E. 'Chucky' (Demetra) Simpson, Jr. of Justice; his two grandsons: Rustan Christian of Justice and Denver (Crystal) Simpson of Brenton; his three granddaughters: Rachel (Michael) Galyean of Justice, Savannah Simpson and fiancé Scott Cline of North Spring, and Jessica (Andy) Hatfield of Huntington; his great grandson, Westan Christian of Justice; his three great granddaughters: Victoria Galyean of Justice, Kimberly Toler Simpson of Brenton, and Desiree Lester of Huff Creek; his brother, Leonard Simpson of Gilbert; his sister, Myrtle Hobbs of Florida; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Friends called at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert on Saturday, February 16th from 6 to 9 pm. Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, February 17th at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Walter Grimmett officiating. Burial followed in Justice Memorial Gardens at Justice.
Pallbearers were: Michael Galyean, Rustan Christian, Jamie Reagan, Jr. Simpson, Clayton Hobbs, Joe Roper, Ronnie Toler, Ronnie Toler Jr., Bill Ellis, Brent Lester, Daniel Lee Woodson, and Andy Hatfield. Honorary pallbearers were: Denver Simpson, Jesse Hatfield, Scott Cline, Danny Dale Hobbs, and Ralph Mullins.

Ralph F. Mitchell, 89, of Bruno, departed this life to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, February 9, 2008 from Logan Regional Medical Center at Logan.
Born on November 26, 1918 at Verner, he was the son of the late Okey and Martha (Lester) Mitchell.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Sudie Mitchell; a son, Bruce Franklin Mitchell; two daughters: Jessica Lynn Mitchell and Michelle Lynn Mitchell; a brother, Chester Mitchell; and three sisters: Beureda Schaffer, Pauline Woosley and Elsie Hatfield.
Ralph was an ordained Bishop with the Church of God for 63 years. He served as pastor and evangelist in Florida and West Virginia, and was a member of the Bruno Church of God. He was a retired coal miner with 23 years of experience.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of Ralph are: his wife, Reba Mitchell, his two sons: Robert E. (Barbara) Mitchell and Phillip R. (Sabrina) Mitchell; his seven grandchildren: David, Robert, Timmy, Bruce Jr., Jessica, and Lynnzie Mitchell, and Sherry Lopez; his twelve great grandchildren; his sister, Grace Osborne; and a host of family and friends.
Friends called at the Bruno Church of God on Tuesday, February 12th from 6 to 9 pm. Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, February 13th at the Bruno Church of God with Bishop Wayne Wicker, overseer of the Church of God in WV, Pastor Roger Frye and Pastor E. C. Pennington officiating. Burial followed in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby Heights, Pecks Mill WV. Family members served as pallbearers.

Evelyn (Buchanan) Akers, 87, of Varney, formerly of Ben Creek, departed this life to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, February 9, 2008 from her residence.
Born on May 11, 1920 at War Eagle, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Martha Buchanan.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by: her husband, Walker Akers; two sisters: Eunice Daniels and Lula Gordon; a brother, Donald Buchanan; and a daughter, Barbra Akers.
Evelyn was a homemaker and a member of the Sarah Ann Church of God.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of Evelyn are: her three sons: Walter Ray (Judy) Akers, Floyd William Akers, both of Varney, and Terry Michael (Paula) Akers of Virginia Beach VA; her three daughters: Waldeen (Doug) Hatfield of Hanover, Linda Gail (Julius) Maynor of Greensboro NC, and Joann (Keevin) Walls of Gilbert; her sister, Vera Kopczynski of Steele; her twelve grandchildren: Jeff (Christy) Hatfield, Christy (Mick) Endicott, Teresa (Donald) Smith, and Jessica Hatfield all of Steele, Missy (Shane) Christian of Hanover, Scott (Stephanie) Akers of Pikeville KY, Penny (Kevin) Chodyniecki and Jenny (Michael) Gray both of Greensboro NC, Valarie (Jeff) Cline and Shawna Layne both of Gilbert, and Terri (Charles) Sexton and Jenna Akers both of Virginia Beach VA; her sixteen great grandchildren: Kiana & Corey Hatfield; Brandon & Tyler Belcher; Megan, McKenize & Mick Endicott; Donald & Kaitlyn Smith; Shayna Christian; Zachary Akers; Payton Chodyniecki; Sarah Owens; Chris Cline; Matthew Layne; and Taylor Nicole Sexton; and a host of family and friends.
Friends called at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert on Monday, February 11th from 6 to 9 pm. Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, February 12th at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary 'Bo' Starr and the Rev. Gary Starr, Jr. officiating.. Burial followed in the Hatfield cemetery at Sharon Heights, Hampden, WV. Active pallbearers were: Scott Akers, Robert Buchanan, Jeff Cline Jeff Hatfield, Randy Layne, and Keevin Walls. Honorary pallbearers were: Kevin Chodyniecki, Rick Endicott, Joey Evans, Michael Gray, Doug Hatfield, Tim Justice, Shorty Lewis, Charles Sexton, Julius Maynor, and Raymond Ellis.

Ronnie R. Stafford, 54, of Hanover, departed this life on Wednesday, February 6, 2008, at Logan Regional Medical Center, Logan, WV.
Born July 27, 1953 at Welch, he was the son of Will and Gertrude (Hall) Stafford.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Lou (Lester) Stafford, and daughter, Sheryl Rae Stafford.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of Ronnie are: his parents, Will and Gertrude Stafford of Hanover; his three sisters: Linda 'Sissy Bug' (Gary) Browning and Bernice (Leon) Walker both of Hanover, and Debbie Ellis and fiancé Eric Dwire of Charleston; his brother, Roger (Rose) Stafford of Hanover; his granddaughter, ShaNille Stafford of Hanover, best friend, Joe Bob Holcomb of Hanover; and a host of family and friends.
Friends called at the Stafford residence on Rt. 97 Big Branch Mountain, Hanover, on Saturday, February 9th after 6 pm. Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, February 10th, at the Stafford residence with the Rev. Gary Browning officiating. Burial followed in the Browning/Dye cemetery at Verner. Family and friends served as pallbearers.

Damon Eric May, 46, of Baisden, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 30, 2008.
Born on May 10, 1962, at Man, he was the beloved son of Grace (Cline) Lester and the late Denver 'Demp' May and the late Harold 'Bucky' Lester.
Damon was a disabled truck driver and a member of the Baisden Community Church at Baisden. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of Damon are: his mother, Grace (Cline) Lester of Baisden; his sister, Demtra (Chucky) Simpson of Justice; his brother Harold 'Brent' (Charity) Lester of Baisden; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Friends called at the Baisden Community Church at Baisden on Thursday, October 2nd after 6 pm. Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm on Friday, October 3rd at the Baisden Community Church with the Rev. Clayton Cline officiating. Burial followed in the Lester's Home Place cemetery at Baisden. Family and friends served as pallbearers.

Lydia Goodman, 68, of Lorado, departed this life on Friday, September 26, 2008, at Logan Regional Medical Center, Logan.
Born on February 5, 1940, at Bruno, she was the beloved daughter of the late Ross and Effie (Hatfield) Grimmett.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by: her loving husband, Raybob Goodman; a brother, Ross 'Buddy' Grimmett; three sisters: Allie Fowler, Jane Rosenberry, and Lottie Goodman.
Lydia was a homemaker and of the Freewill Baptist Faith. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of Lydia are: her two sons: Thurman (Debbie, whom she loved as her own daughter) Goodman and Bobby 'Bobcat' Goodman, both of Lorado; her very special step-daughter, Phyllis Goodman of Man; her grandchildren: Amanda Goodman, Ricky David Goodman, Ricky James Ray Goodman, and Rebecca Williamson; her sister, Mabel Fobert of Lorado; her three brothers: Russell (Tiny) Grimmett and Earnest (Beverly) Grimmett, both of Lorado, and Kenny (Annette) Grimmett of Bruno; her very special friend, Georgia Dean; her special niece, Kay Goodman (who she loved as a daughter); a special nephew, 'Hunky' Goodman; and a host of other dear family members and friends.
Friends called at the Saunders Memorial Freewill Baptist Church at Lorado on Monday, September 29th from 6 to 9 pm. Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, September 30th at the Saunders Memorial Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Massey and the Rev. Bill Cantrell officiating. Burial followed in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby Heights, Pecks Mill.
Nephews, family and friends served as pallbearers.

Brandon Fodge, 21, of Amherstdale, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 26, 2008, from his residence.
Born on March 4, 1987, he was the son of Dorothy Kennedy of Amherstdale.
Brandon was a blessing to all who knew and loved him. He was of the Church of God faith.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of Brandon are: his mother, Dorothy Kennedy; his two sisters: Delila (Jamie) Lusk of Accoville and Beverly Nelson (fiancé Grove Gerace) of Amherstdale; his brother, Barry Fisher (Rita) Rowe of Lorado; his niece, Jayla Lusk of Accoville; his two nephews: Christopher and Jacob Nelson of Amherstdale; a very special friend, Billy Johnson of Lorado; a special friend, Donald Jemmerson of Lorado; and his many friends from Dignity Hospice, ARH Home Health Care, and the LEASA Ambulance Service (Thank you for your loving care and kindnesses to Brandon).
Friends called at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert on Sunday, September 28th from 6 to 9 pm. Funeral services were held at 12 noon on Monday, September 29th at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dewey Lusk officiating. Burial followed in Forest Lawn cemetery at Pecks Mill. Pallbearers were: Grove Gerace, Jamie Lusk, Arnold Harvey, Walter Wolford, Chuck Simpkins, and Michael Toler. Honorary pallbearer was Barry Fisher Rowe.

Viola Mae Hamrick, 93 of Sprattsville, went home to be with the Lord, on Tuesday, September 23, 2008, from her residence.
Born on June 21, 1915, at Snake Run in Greenbrier County, she was the beloved daughter of the late Samuel and Elvira (Lusher) Forren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Hayes Hamrick and one son, Larry Hamrick.
Viola was in the graduating class of 1932 from Alderson High School. She, her husband, and their son Layton were owners and operators of Hamrick Equipment from 1972 to 1989. She was a member of the Justice Methodist Church for 57 years. She took pride in being a homemaker and caregiver who touched many lives with her love and compassion. Her heart and kitchen were never closed to a friend or a stranger. She cared for generations of children in the family and the community.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of Viola are: her loving children: Layton Hamrick of Sprattsville, Terry (Merlene) Hamrick of Justice, Patricia (Bill) Goad of Barboursville, and Anita Merritt of Sprattsville; her daughter-in-law, Judy Hamrick of Williamson; her grandson, Todd (Rhonda) Hamrick of Sprattsville; her sister, Garnet Simmons of Mullens; her 14 grandchildren; her 23 great grandchildren; her 6 great great grandchildren; and a host of friends, including her special neighbor Tina Cline, her pastor Ralph Reedy and his wife Doris, and many nieces and nephews.
Thanks to her special care givers: her daughter Anita, and other family members including her granddaughters Katrina Blankenship and Lara Fox. Due to their love and care she was able to remain at her home for the last years of her life.
Friends called at the Justice Methodist Church in Justice on Thursday, September 25th from 6 to 9 pm. Funeral services were held at 11:00 am on Friday, September 26th at the Justice Methodist Church with her faithful pastor and friend, Rev. Ralph Reedy officiating. A graveside service was held at 4:00 pm at the McElhenny cemetery at Grassy Meadows in Greenbrier County WV.
Pallbearers were: Phillip and Craig Blankenship, Michael Fox, David Merritt, and Billy and Jeff Goad.
In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to the Justice Methodist Church or to Dignity Hospice (P.O. Box 4304, Chapmanville, WV. 25508), whose support was truly a blessing.
