HUPP, BETTY L.

Betty L. Hupp, 84, of Parkersburg, died Saturday, Sept. 20, 1997, at Parkview Health Care Center. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Ernest Clyde and Myrtle Martha Campbell Farrar. She was a homemaker and a member of Pettyville United Methodist Church. Surviving are two sisters, Mildred Bennett of Parkersburg and June Stiles of Mineral Wells; one granddaughter, Julie Anne Barrett of Columbus; two grandsons, Mark Augenstein of Parkersburg and Robert Phillip Hupp of Mineral Wells; and seven great-grand-children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert R. Hupp; one son, Robert Hupp; one grandson, Michael Robert Augenstein; five brothers, Robert Glen Farrar, Ray Farrar, Ronald Farrar, Charles Farrar and Wade Farrar; and two sisters, Sue Farrar and Nelsa Stump. Services were held at Vaughan Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Rev. Paul Morrison officiating. Burial was in Ravenswood cemetery.

HURST, BLANCHE

Blanche R. Hurst, 90, of Parkersburg, died Thursday, Dec. 19, 1996, at Parkview Health Care Center. She was born in Grantsville, a daughter of the late Winfield Hupp. She worked for American Viscose Corp. for 21 years and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Surviving is her husband, William T. Hurst. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond Hupp and Charlie Hupp; and one sister, Pearl Gribble. Services were held at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Rev. Bill Angel officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memory Gardens.

JARVIS, CLAUDE J.

Claude J. Jarvis, 65, of Spencer, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 1997, at Roane General Hospital. He was born in Chloe, a son of the late Alpheus and Martha Flinn Jarvis. He was retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., Akron. Surviving are his wife, Wilma June Sharps Jarvis of Spencer; and four sons, Ricky Jarvis and Kevin Jarvis, both of Spencer, Roger Jarvis of Akron and David Jarvis of Dayton. He was preceded in death by one son, Stephen Jarvis. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Darrell Mollohan officiating. Burial was in Coen cemetery, Nebo.

JARVIS, OKEY, JR.

Okey Jarvis, Jr., 69, of Little White Oak, Chloe, died Thursday, May 29, 1997, at his residence. He was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late Okey and Prudence Hersman Jarvis. He was a Merchant Marine from 1944-45 and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a retired farmer and oil and gas producer and was a member of Minnora Odd Fellows Lodge 246. He was a member of Minnora cemetery Board of Directors. Surviving are his wife, Lynda Cook Jarvis of Chloe; James Allison of Wheat Ridge, Colo.; four daughters, Carolyn Bowers and Julie Allison, both of Burlington, N.C., Sandra Ann Brinegar of Hico and Judy Allison of Chloe; one sister, Ruth Jarvis of Marietta; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters and one grand-daughter. Services were held at Minnora United Methodist Church, Minnora, with Rev. Jack Stump officiating. Odd Fellows Memorial Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg. Burial was in Minnora cemetery with military graveside rites.

JARVIS, RUBEN

Ruben Jarvis, 88, of Belpre, died Sunday, Jan. 26, 1997, at The Marietta Center. He was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late Lewis and Hannah Shock Jarvis. He was retired from the Grantsville District of Cabot Corp. He was a member of Mullen Memorial Baptist Church, Belpre. Surviving are his wife, Gladys Fowler Jarvis; one son, Leroy Jarvis of Washington; and one grandson, Aaron Jarvis of Parkersburg. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Services were held at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Rev. George Huffsmith officiating. Entombment was in Sunset Memory Gardens Mausoleum.

JONES, MELLISSA

Mellissa V. Jones (nee Siers), 55, of Medina, Ohio, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 1997, at Cleveland Clinic Foundation. She was born in Big Bend and had been a resident of the Medina area for more than 30 years. She was a homemaker. Surviving are her mother, Ada Hosey of Big Bend; one son, Hershel H. Jones, Jr., of Medina; three daughters, Cathy Jones of Brunswick, Ohio, Susan Thompson of Wadsworth, Ohio, and Lisa Duke of Norton, Ohio; one brother, Will Reynolds of Big Bend; former husband, Hershel H. Jones, Sr., of Big Springs; and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Ronzel Siers, and stepfather, Joseph G. Hosey. Services were held at Carlson's Golden Rule Funeral Home, Medina.

JONES, WILLIAM C.

William C. Jones, 74, of Sand Ridge, died Monday, April 7, 1997, at Louis A. Johnson Veterans Administration Hospital, Clarksburg. He was born in Yonkers, N.Y., a son of the late Stephen and Helen Kinsela Jones. He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from Sikorsky Aircraft Corp., Stratford, Conn. He was a member of Rush Run Baptist Church near Stumptown. Surviving are one sister, Catherine Dickson of Yonkers; three half- sisters, Barbara Frederick of Yonkers, Agnes Steltz of Shandaken, N.Y., and Lillian Forte of Thornwood, N.Y.; three halfbrothers, Fredrick Jones of Glenallen, Va., Charles Jones of Peekskill, N.Y., and Stephen Jones of Antioch, Calif. He was preceded in death by his wife, Arlena Shock Jones; and his stepmother, Lillian Jones. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Jack Stump and Rev. Lewis Villers officiating. Burial was in Shock cemetery near Stumptown.

JUNE, PAMELA WEAVER

Pamela Sue Weaver June, 42, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 1997, in Northwest Hospital, Tucson, Ariz., following an extended illness. She was born in Barberton, Ohio, a daughter of John Delbert and Maxine Arthur Weaver of Tucson. She was a registered nurse and was a staff nurse at St. Mary's Hospital, Tucson, until early 1996. She was a former resident of Arbovale and a graduate of Marshall University, Huntington. She was a granddaughter of the late Charles and Mabel Arthur and Mabel Weaver McEndree of Calhoun County. Surviving in addition to her parents are her husband, John June; one daughter, Amanda Gail; one brother, Charles "Chuck" Weaver, all of Tucson; a sister, Carolyn of Campbell, Calif.; and numerous relatives in West Virginia and Ohio. Her body was cremated. A memorial service was held in Tucson by friends and family.

JUSTICE, STEPHEN J.

Stephen J. Justice, 39, of Orlando, Braxton County, died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 1997, at United Hospital Center, Clarksburg. He was born in Fayette County, a son of Waneda Adams Justice of Chloe and the late Brooks Justice. He was a former employee of Spenco Corp., Glenville. He was a member of Church of Christ. Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife, Elizabeth Miller Justice; one daughter, Rose Justice of the home; two sons, Travis Justice and Carl Justice, both of the home; one sister, Pat Murphy of Chloe; and one brother, Jackie Justice of Lewisville, Ohio. He was preceded in death by one son, Larry Brooks Justice. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Kenneth Fisher officiating. Burial was in Lamb cemetery, Chloe.

KASTROW, MARTIN E.

Martin E. Kastrow, 46, of Parkersburg, died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 1997, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital. He was born in Calhoun County, a son of Robert Emett Kastrow and Della Morehead Starcher of Parkersburg. He was a cab driver for Yellow Cab Co. Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his wife, Juaneta Stump Kastrow; three stepsons, Robert Stump, Clifford Stump and Scott Stump, all of Parkersburg; one step-daughter, Colona Forshey of Parkersburg; two brothers, Robert Kastrow and David Kastrow, both of Parkersburg; and two sisters, Loretta Starcher of Parkersburg and Mary Bell of Wichita, Kan. He was preceded in death by one infant son, Mark Martin Kastrow, and one stepson, Walter Westfall. Services were held at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg. Burial was in Cedar Grove cemetery.

KELLAR, DONALD P.

Donald P. Kellar, 71, of Brohard, died Sunday, Feb. 16, 1997, at Minnie Hamilton Health Cate Center. He was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late Dick and Dora Starcher Kellar. He was retired from S.I.F.C.O. Co., Cleveland, and attended Five Forks Community Church. Surviving are his wife, Elodene Crawford Kellar of Brohard; one daughter, Arlena Myer of Grantsville; two sons, Pete Kellar of Mt. Zion and Leonard Cunningham of Grantsville; three stepdaughters, Navene Ruble and Irene McVey, both of Parkersburg, and Sherry Kellar of Lancaster, Ohio; one sister, Dorothy Lynch of Knightstown, Ind.; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth Cunningham Kellar; one daughter, Debra Sue Kellar; three sisters; two brothers; and two great-grandchildren. Services were scheduled Wednesday, 2 p.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Alfred Hickman officiating, and burial in Big Bend cemetery.

KELLEY, EDWARD E.

Edward E. Kelley, 68, of Harrisville, died Tuesday, April 8, 1997, in Calhoun County. He was born in Roanoke, Lewis County, a son of the late Samuel and Dora Dennison Kelley. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Surviving are his wife, Oleta B. Cunningham Kelley; seven stepsons, Trevie D. Cunningham, Roger Cunningham and Bill Cunningham, all of Grantsville; James Halterman, Terry W. Halterman, Joe Halterman and Ronnie Halterman, all of Weston; three stepdaughters, Shirley Gregory of Grantsville; Beth Goff of Pennsboro and Patricia "Sis" Halterman of Weston; one brother, Dallas Kelley of Barberton, Ohio; three sisters, Connie Shromper of Bath, Ohio, Mae Reed and twin Evelyn Bird, both of Harrisville; and several stepgrandchildren, stepgreat- grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Margaret Goff. Services were held at Raiguel Funeral Home, Harrisville, with Rev. Steve Richards officiating. Burial was in Hazelgreen cemetery.

KELLEY, ROBERT

Robert Lee Kelley, 68, of Spencer, died Friday, May 2, 1997, at St. Joseph's Hospital. He was born in Spencer, a son of the late Harold and Hazel Frye Kelley. He retired as superintendent for Pennzoil. He was a member and past master of Walton Lodge 150, AF&AM, and a member of the Breakfast Club at White Oak Restaurant, Spencer, and Spencer Presbyterian Church. Surviving are one daughter, Patricia Ann Swiger of Ripley; two sons, Robin W. Kelley of Arnoldsburg and Michael L. Kelley of Spencer; one brother, Jack Kelley of Spencer; 15 grandchildren; and 10 great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred J. Scott Kelley; one son, John Robert Kelley; and one brother, Lawrence Kelley. Services were held at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home, Spencer, with Rev. Ray Harris officiating. Burial was in Eventide cemetery, Spencer.

KENDALL, ADRIAN R.

Adrian R. Kendall, 79, of Elmira, died Monday, Sept. 1, 1997, at Braxton County Memorial Hospital, Gassaway. He was born in Braxton County, a son of the late Francis L. and Bertha Edgell Kendall. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a well-known Braxton County livestock farmer. He was a member of Walnut Memorial Church. Surviving are his wife, Neva Carter Kendall; two daughters, Sherry Gross of Sutton and Sandra Harris of Grantsville; six sons, Arlis Ray Kendall of Sierra Vista, Ariz., Arden Kendall of Williamstown, Delmas Kendall of Parkersburg, Randall Kendall of Bluefield, Roger Kendall of Duck and Larry Kendall of Charleston; one brother, Selby Kendall of Fairmont; six sisters, Myrtie Cottrill of Fairmont, Hazel Hall of Barberton, Ohio, Vera Hosic of Martinez, Ga., Delphia Tanner of New Castle, Pa., Violet Teets of Buckhannon and Macie Jarvis of Richmond, Va.; 17 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Dewey Tanner and Rev. Kenneth Kendall officiating. Burial was in Kendall Family cemetery, Elmira.
