FREDERICK, NATASHA STARR

Natasha Starr Frederick, 17, of Harrisville, died Monday, July 3, 1995, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg, after an extended illness. She was born in Parkersburg, a daughter of Dallas and Betty McCormick Frederick of Harrisville. She was a junior at Ritchie County High School and a member of Pike Church of God, Pike. Surviving in addition to her parents are her birth mother, Nancy Swisher of Parkersburg; one brother, Charles Frederick of Parkersburg; two sisters, Tina Wigal of Belleville and Peggy Sams of Grantsville; one half-brother, J.D. Terry of Parkersburg; one half- sister, Johnna Terry of Parkersburg; two nieces; and two nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother, Raymond Frederick; and one niece, Janie McGuire. Services were held at Pike Church of God, with Rev. Bob H. Kirk officiating. Burial was in Chestnut Grove cemetery, Big Springs.

FREED, ADA HAZEL

Ada Hazel Freed, 95, of Bridgeport, died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 1995, at United Hospital Center, Bridgeport. She was born Sept. 6, 1899, in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late George Washington Dye and Prentha Raybuck Dye. She was a homemaker and former member of Evangelical United Brethren Church. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. James (Vonda) Leuliette of Bridgeport; two sons, Orlan Freed of Phoenix, Ariz., and Olas Freed of Bridgeport; five brothers, Shirley Dye of Duncan Falls, Ohio, Everett H. Dye and William Dye, both of Big Springs, and Bennie B. Dye and Ernest Jacob Dye, both of Parkersburg; two sisters, Mrs. Darius Turner and Mrs. Edward (Edith) Barr, both of Zanesville, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Freed, in 1960; two sons, Olen Freed and Earnest Freed; two brothers, Oral Ray and Casper Dye; and two sisters, Orphie Hale and Olive Campbell. Services were held at Allen Funeral Home, Bridgeport, with Rev. John Fraser officiating. Burial was in Trinity cemetery.

FRENCH, JOHN W.

John W. French, 66, died Saturday, Feb. 25, 1995, at his residence at Mansfield, Tenn. He was born in Mansfield, son of the late Elbert and Minnie Ann Saunders French. He was a retired machinist of Litton Industries, Cleveland, Ohio. Surviving are his wife, Luellen Richards French; five daughters, Ada Buie of Buchanan, Tenn., Roxanne Fisher of Springville, Tenn., Beverly Canady of Camden, Tenn., Deanne Running of Newbury, Ohio, and Deborah O'Grady of Burton, Ohio; one son, Gary W. French of Paris, Tenn.; one sister, Maria Bains of Camden; two brothers, Herman French of Springville and Hoyl French of Paris; 10 grandchildren; one great- grandchild; and a sister-in-law, Elmo Ball of Nobe. He was preceded in death by a son, William Thomas French; a daughter, Wilma Sue French; a sister, HIlda Sutton; a brother, Willard (Kim) French; and a half-brother, Chester Tubbs. Services were held at Ridgeway Funeral Home, Paris, with Rev. Jerr Parsons officiating. Burial was in Henry County Tabernacle cemetery, Springville.

FRESHOUR, DOYLE

Doyle Freshour, 82, of St. Marys, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 1995, at his residence. He was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late Roy and Edna Whipkey Freshour. He was retired from the former FMC Viscose after 35 years of service and was a member of Dewey Avenue Church of Christ, St. Marys. Surviving are his wife of 18 years, Ethel Hart McMillian Freshour; six daughters, Ada Yvonne Riser, Phyllis Lucille Allen and Lois Carolyn Brown, all of Parkersburg, Patricia Ann Hale of Newark, Naomi Marie Wilson of Muskogee, Okla., and Jackie Gail Whited of Walker; one stepdaughter, Donna Hart of St. Marys; one stepson, Bobby Hart of St. Marys; two brothers, Glenn Freshour of Pettyville and Turner Freshour of Belpre; three sisters, Martha Feiler of Parkersburg, Leona McDonald and Nola Thornburg of Arcadia, Fla; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; four stepgreat- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 41 years, Sara Edna Heffner Freshour; twin daughters, Helen Louise Freshour and Elsie Lenore Freshour; one son, Robert Eugene Freshour; one grandson, Garland Keith Riser; one granddaughter, Linda Kay Brown; one great- grandson, Andrew Waggoner; five brothers, Clyde Freshour, Cleo Freshour, Roy Freshour, Jr., Arlie Freshour and Lynn Freshour; and five sisters, Connie Freshour, Oleda Freshour, Mornel Freshour, Edna Mitchell and Willodene Primm. Services were held at Ruttencutter Funeral Home, St. Marys, with evangelists Dan Kessinger and Emanuel Daugherty officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memory Gardens.

FRESHOUR, OMA JEN

Oma Jen Freshour, 58, of Coxs' Mills, died Wednesday, May 17, 1995, at Calhoun General Hospital, after an extended illness. She was born in Logan County, a daughter of the late Kelley and Martha Gibson Bailey. She was a 1955 Harrisville High School graduate and a member of Newburn United Methodist Church, Newburn. Surviving are her husband, John W. Freshour; one son, John David Freshour of Sandyville; two daughters, Debra Lynn Sheets of Parcoal and Jo Ann Duffield of Palestine; three sisters, Minnie Cook of Harrisville, Elba Osborne of New Marshfield, Ohio, and Mary Sutphin of Burnt House; four brothers, Herbert Bailey of Fredericksburg, Va., James Bailey of St. Louis, Mo., Eugene Bailey of Columbus, Ohio, and Ray Bailey of Auburn; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. Services were held at Newburn United Methodist Church, with Rev. Don Newlon officiating. Burial was in Spruce Creek cemetery, Lawford.

GAINER, JENNINGS O.

Jennings O. "Buck" Gainer, 58, of Dover, Fla., died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 1995, at Lakeland Regional Hospital, Lakeland, Fla., after being injured at work. He was born Aug. 29, 1937, in Calhoun County, a son of the late Cleo and Phelma Hathaway Gainer. He once played pro football in Massillon, Ohio, and was a former heavyweight boxing champion in Florida. He worked at IMC-AGRICO Corp. in Florida and attended Church of God, Plant City, Fla. Surviving are a son, Keith Rodney "Rocky" Gainer of Margate, Fla.; a brother, Delbert "Bo" Gainer of Grantsville; and three sisters, Greta Marks, Wanza Marsh and Emma Wease, all of Grantsville. He was preceded in death by a sister, Delma Whytsell. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Glendon McKee officiating. Burial was in St. Paul cemetery, near Grantsville.

GHERKE, OLIN M.

Olin M. Gherke, 78, of Pleasant Hill, died Wednesday, June 21, 1995, at his residence after an extended illness. He was born in Stumptown, a son of the late Claude and Leota White Gherke. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving as master sergeant in the Aerial Engineers for six years. He was owner-operator of Gherke's Dept. Store, Grantsville, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Grantsville. Surviving are his wife, Lakie Ward Gherke; one son, Bill Gherke of Grantsville; one daughter, Carolyn Small of Washington; three brothers, Cleburn Gherke of Grantsville, Oless Gherke of Woodbridge, Va., and Ira Gherke of Bridgeport; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Thelma Pickles, and one brother, Arlan Gherke. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. James Pearson and Rev. Alfred Hickman officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill cemetery near Grantsville.

GILDOW, SHARRON

Sharron K. Barnhart Blatt Gildow, 52, of Lower Salem, Ohio, died Sunday, July 9, 1995, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born in Circle Hill, a daughter of the late Henry and Verna Hardy Barnhart. She was a homemaker, a 1960 Chauncey-Dover High School graduate and a member of Church of Christ in Lower Paw Paw. Surviving are her husband, Ronald Gildow; one son, David Blatt of Athens; one daughter, Deborah Blatt of Douglasville, Ga.; four stepdaughters, Kathi Gerber of Lower Salem, Kelli Kern of Fort Wayne, Ind., Kerri Gildow of Alexandria, Va., and Kristi Gildow of Marietta; three brothers, Robert Barnhart of Georgia, Victor Barnhart of Circle Hill and Peter Barnhart of Chauncey; one sister, Shirley Carpenter of Grantsville; and three step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Wilbur Blatt. Services were scheduled Wednesday, 11 a.m., at White-Blower Funeral Home, Coolville, Ohio, with Evangelist Roger Rush officiating, and burial in Nelsonville Memory Gardens.

GILL, EULA M.

Eula M. Gill, 92, of Grantsville, died Wednesday, June 21, 1995, at Holbrook Nursing Center, Buckhannon, after an extended illness. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Jerome and Stella Huffman Frame. She was a member of Enon Baptist Church. Surviving are one sister, Isabel Dawson of Grantsville. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Gill; and one brother. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Glendon McKee officiating. Burial was in Sycamore Baptist Church cemetery, Millstone.

GIVENS, CHARLEY W.

Charley W. Givens, 89, of Big Springs, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 1995, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg. He was born in Ritchie County, a son of the late Eunice A. Givens. He was formerly employed by Steel Improve Forge Co., Cleveland, and retired from Sav-A-Tool, Grantsville. He was a member of Spruce Hollow Community Church, near Big Springs. Surviving are his wife, Esta O. Richards Givens; three sons, Ralph E. Givens of Williamstown, Charles R. Givens of Walker and Roger L. Givens of Big Springs; three daughters, Joan Porter of Bluff City, Tenn., Margaret A. Fleming of Parkersburg and Donna Sams of Little Hocking; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Ben Givens. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. Burial was in King Knob cemetery, Mahone.

GODFREY, LINDA M.

Linda Marie Godfrey, 25, of Big Bend, formerly of Spencer, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 1995, at her residence. She was born in Montgomery, a daughter of Mary Jane Corbitt Hosey of Spencer and the late David Curtis Brown. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband, Anthony Wayne Godfrey; two sons, Ronald Lee Brown of Spencer and David George Brown of Arnoldsburg; stepfather, Willie Hosey of Spencer; one sister, Kathy Marks of Arnoldsburg; four stepbrothers, Denzil Taylor, Dexter Taylor, Richard Taylor and Ronald Taylor, all of Spencer; and one stepsister, Martha Cottrell of Reedy. She was preceded in death by one stepsister, Mary Elizabeth Taylor. Services were held at Sinnett-Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Rev. Darrell Alvis officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memory cemetery, Bickmore.

GODFREY, LOUISE E.

Louise E. Godfrey, 81, of Bramblewood Village, died Satur-day, Nov. 11, 1995, at Roane General Hospital, after an extended illness. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Creed and Frances Lane Brooks. She was a well-known Grantsville merchant, having owned and operated Godfrey's Grocery for 17 years, and was a former cook at Pleasant Hill Elementary School. Surviving are one son, William Godfrey of Parkersburg; six daughters, Ermogene Youngeberg of Wakeman, Ohio, Nina McCartney of East Liverpool, Ohio, Luella Moore of Marietta, Sharon Smith and Frances Adwell, both of Grantsville, and Rose Croft of Warsaw, Ohio; one sister, Luella Nutter of Reedsville, Ohio; 16 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one grandson, two brothers, two sisters, and two half-sisters. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Glendon McKee officiating. Burial was in Hunt cemetery, Big Bend.

GONCI, LADISLAW LEWIS

Ladislaw Lewis Gonci, 75, died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 1995, in Klamath Falls, Ore. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio. He was captured and held as a P.O.W. on two occasions during World War II by the German Army, but was liberated both times by American forces. He enjoyed flying, fishing, golfing, and horseback riding. He was a Baptist by faith and a member of the National Guard. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Wilson Gonci of Klamath Falls, originally of Calhoun County and a sister of Ernestine Harris and Emma Vaughn of Grantsville; a son, Ronald Gonci of Temecula, Calif.; daughters and son-in-law, Deborah Zack of Lake Havasu, Ariz., and Scottie and John Stier of Malin, Ore.; a sister, Melvina Gonci of Cleveland, Ohio; granddaughters, Amie Marie Zack of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Angela Marie Gonci of Klamath Falls; great-granddaughter, Holly Ramstead of Klamath Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews. Private family cremation services were held at Eternal Hills Crematory, Klamath Falls.

GOODRICH, BILLY LEE

Billy Lee Goodrich, 53, of Mt. Zion, died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 1995, at Roane General Hospital, after an extended illness. He was born in Braxton County, a son of the late George W. and Birdie McCumbers Goodrich. He was a dozer operator. Surviving are his wife, Mary Sue Wright Goodrich; two sons, Mike Goodrich and David Goodrich, both of Mt. Zion; two brothers, Carmel Goodrich of Millstone and Bruce Goodrich of Ravenswood; three sisters, Lenora Cottrill of Rosedale, Ermal Webb of Spencer and Violet Murphy of Reedy; and four grand-children. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. John Ellison officiating. Burial was in Sycamore Baptist Church cemetery, Millstone.
