Larry Wayne Hall, 48, of Pikeville, Ky., died Monday, Dec. 2, 2001, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Ky.
Born July 11, 1953, in Neon, Ky., he was the son of the late Leonard and Dicey Bentley Hall.
He was disabled and a member of the Church of Christ faith.
Survivors include two sons, Jason Todd and Travis Wayne Hall, both of McRoberts, Ky.; three brothers, Danny Hall of Borden, Ind., and Steve and Gary Hall, both of Frankfort, Ky.; a sister, Patsy Butts of Lexington, and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, at the Shelby Valley Church of Christ with the Revs. Johnny King and Greg Johnson officiating.
Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001, at the Lucas and Hall Funeral Home, with special services at 7 p.m.
Family will serve as pallbearers.
Bob Cable
Robert "Bob" Levi Cable, 63, of Shelby Gap, Ky., died Monday, Dec. 3, 2001, in the Appalachian Regional Hospital in Hazard, Ky.
Born Oct. 31, 1938, in Shelby Gap, he was a son of Julie Cable and the late Lee Cable.
He was a coal miner repairman for Kentucky May Coal Company, an Army veteran and a member of the Old Regular Baptist faith.
Survivors include two sons, John Robert and Brian Keith Cable, both of Midland, Va.; one daughter, Alisha D. Cable Roberts of Pikeville, Ky.; three brothers, Charles and George Cable of Georgia and James Cable of Florida; six sisters, Ester Mullins of Dorton, Ky., Helen Thacker of Lorton, Va., Margie Rose of Caney Highway, Bessie Bentley of Pikeville, Icy (Cable) Sowards and Avis June Darnell, both of Illinois, and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Friday, Dec. 7, at the Lucas and Hall Funeral Home, with ministers Charles Nitchie and others officiating.
Burial will follow in the Powell Valley Memorial Garden Cemetery.
Family will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 5, with special services at 7 p.m. nightly, at the funeral home.
Elizabeth Hall
Elizabeth Marie Hall, 64, of Bristol, Tenn., formerly of North Spring, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2001, at the Bristol Regional Medical Center.
Born March 21, 1937, in Lyburn, she was a daughter of the late Newman (Moon) and Mattie Davis Grant.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her ex-husband, Harrison J. Hall, and two stepsons, Elmer Ray Hatfield and Charles Matthew Warren.
She was a member of the Church of God faith.
Survivors include five sons, James Richard Rowe of Bristol, Billy (Gail) Hall of North Spring, James Douglas (Sherry) Hall of Gallipolis, Ohio, Harrison Jr. (Rena) Hall of Bristol and Thomas Maynard of Lorado; nine daughters, Karen Kay Englehardt of Woodstock, Ill., Ernestine May of Wharncliffe, Patricia Louise Rowe of Bristol, Mary Ann Harrison of Mallory, Ida Marie Wingler of Bristol, Juanita Marie Hall of Lavonia, Mich., and Michelle Ellen Hall, Mary Elizabeth Rowe and Anna Marie Green, all of Bristol; two sisters, Janice Sheppard of Mishawaka, Ind., and Donna Sue Davis of Williamson; two brothers, William Donald Grant of Smithville and Raymond Grant of Mallory; 33 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6, at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert, with the Rev. Danny May officiating.
Burial will follow in the Hall Family Cemetery at North Spring.
Active pallbearers will be Billy Ray May, Michael Lee Hall, Tippy Potter, Thomas Maynard, Jose Rangel and Dustin Hall. Honorary pallbearers will be Everett Grant and Michael Cox.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 5, at the funeral home.
George Phillips, Jr.
Mr. George Phillips, Jr., 81, of Raleigh, N.C., died Monday, Dec. 3, 2001, in the Wellington Nursing Center in Knightdale, N.C.
Mr. Phillips was born in McDowell County, on July 22, 1920, the son of the late George and Sarah White Phillips. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Altice Phillips.
Mr. Phillips was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Navy and was also a member of the Crabtree Valley Baptist Church. In his later years, Mr. Phillips spent a lot of time helping out at Carolina Sofa of Raleigh.
Surviving are one daughter, Deborah Sasser and husband Dave of Raleigh; one grandson, George Bradford Sasser; one brother, Elwood Phillips of Rogersville, Ala.; four sisters, Mary Payne of Indianapolis, Ind., Alberta Day of Welch, Greta Roper of Midlothian, Ill., and Loretta Rose of Kimball.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, in the Crabtree Valley Baptist Church with the Rev. Brad Ferguson officiating.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 5, at the Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh, N.C.
Charles Dale
Charles Earl Dale, 69, of Calloway Branch, Phelps, Ky., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, at his residence.
Born May 15, 1932, he was a son of the late Harold and Stella Watkins Dale.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sada Dale, and one brother, Eugene Dale.
He was a retired coal miner, employed by Kentucky Carbon Coal Company, and a United States Army veteran. He was a member of the Peter Creek Primitive Baptist Church and the Thomas Devinney #928 Lodge at Freeburn, Ky.
Survivors include two sons, Stanley Mitchell Dale and Steven (Linda) Dale, both of Phelps; one daughter, Kimberly (Edward) Maher of Grove City, Ohio; four brothers, Albert Dale, Sr. of Edgarton, Clifford (Evelyn) Dale of Johnson City, Tenn., Robert Dale of Lockport, Ill., and James (Ann) Dale of Piney Flats, Tenn.; one sister, Barbara (Freddie) Coleman of Phelps, and three grandchildren, Charles, David and Elizabeth.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Saturday, Dec. 8, at the Peter Creek Primitive Baptist Church with the Rev. DeWitt Furrow, Elder Everett Brizedine, Paul Varney and Timmy Smith officiating.
D.A.V. rites will be performed by Chapter 141 of Belfry, Ky.
Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6, at the R.S. Jones & Son Funeral Home, Phelps Chapel, and masonic rites will be given on Friday, Dec. 7, at 7 p.m.
Dana Daniels
Dana Laura Daniels, 73, of Blackberry City, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2001, in Saint Mary's Hospital in Huntington.
Born March 31, 1928, in Freeburn, Ky., she was a daughter of the late Ferrell Coleman and Helen Frances Marcum.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Randy Daniels, and three grandsons, Douglas Allen, Steven Edwards and Blaine Kamalli.
She was a homemaker, a wonder wife and mother, and was of the Holiness faith.
Survivors include her husband, Mason Daniels of the home; one son, David Daniels of Honolulu, Hawaii; four daughters, Helen Edwards of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Kathy Wolford, Rhonda Simpkins and Teresa Allen, all of Huntington; two sisters, Della Ray Maynard of Tennessee and Sandra Keaton of Columbus, Ohio; 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 7, at the Chambers Funeral Home in Matewan, with ministers Johnny Gooslin and Ronnie Wolford officiating.
Burial will follow in the Mountain View Memory Gardens at Huddy, Ky.
Grandsons and sons-in-law will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6, with special services at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
