Elwood Bryan

BRYAN, Elwood Robert, 87, a long-time resident of Prattville, AL, died peacefully on Thursday June 8 2006. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, June 10, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. from Forest Hill Memorial Park in Snowdoun, AL, with Reverend Bill Hall officiating, Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mr. Bryan honorably served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was known and respected in the Prattville and Montgomery area as a land developer and home builder for over 50 years. He was an active member of the Montgomery Home Builders Association and the Prattville Home Builders Association. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Cassie Bryan. He is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy Vickery Bryan, Prattville, AL; four daughters, Shirley (Jerry) Roberts, Matthews, AL, Gayle (Ken) Morgan, Chattanooga, TN, Karen (Roger) Rasberry, Clanton, AL, Jenny (Anthony) Gilliland, Townsend, TN; one son, Elwood Robert “Rob” Bryan, Jr., Prattville, AL; 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Faye McGhee, Jean (Donald) Tisdale, and Myrtle Reeves, all of Opp, AL, and Jeanette Jackson, Dothan, AL. Pallbearers will be Randon Roberts, Robin Roberts, Jerry Roberts, Ricky Jamison, Ken Morgan, Roger Rasberry, and Anthony Gilliland. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Saturday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Jimmy Richard "J.R." Bruner

BRUNER, III, Jimmy Richard, affectionately known and loved as “J.R.” a resident of Montgomery, AL, died unexpectedly on Saturday, February 25, 2006, at the age of 16. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2006, at 11:00 a.m., from the Chapel of Prattville Memorial, with Reverend James Lester and Brother Mark Roughton officiating. Burial will follow in Prattville Memory Gardens, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. “J. R.” was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Mary Green, and paternal grandparents, Jimmy and Mary Bruner, Sr. He is survived by his loving parents, Paula and Jimmy Bruner; one sister and brother-in-law, Cristi and Glenn Floyd, Jr.; maternal grandfather, Ralph O. Green; several aunts and uncles, Darryl and Sharett Bruner, Neal and Teresa Green, James R. Green, Ben and Teresa Green, Carol and Michael McKinnon, Kelly and Rick Haman; and a special loved one, Ashley Lindsey. Pallbearers will be Glenn Floyd, Jr., Ben Gibson, Tori Law, Ethan Bruner, Byron Bruner, Timmy Ryals, Michael Mistello, Nicholas Hoots and Matt Headley. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Catoma Baptist Church Building Fund, 4300 Old Selma Road, Montgomery, AL 36108. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Darcey Cook

COOK, Darcey Lee, precious infant daughter of Laura and Daniel Cook, went home to be with the Lord on the day of her birth, March 2, 2005. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2005, 11:00 a.m., at Tuscaloosa Memorial Cemetery in Tuscaloosa, AL, with Dr. Travis Coleman officiating. Darcey was preceded in death by her great-great-grandmother, Margaret Darcey; great-grandparents, Kerney Hall Cook, Rodney Leland Dutro, James D. Haynes, Henry G. Faulk, and John Nelson, Sr. In addition to her loving parents, Darcey is survived by grandparents, Michael and Connie Cook, Robert and Amanda Faulk, Karen and John Nelson, Jr.; great-grandparents, Betty and Darwin Harmon, Ella Rae and Cy Chase; Janet D. Haynes, Mary L. Faulk, Richard and Peggy Allen, and Ruth Nelson; aunts, Sarah Cook, Mary Grace Faulk, and Ava Johnson; uncles, Joseph (Amy) Cook, and David Faulk; and one cousin, Emma Cook. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to The First Baptist Church, 138 South Washington Street, Prattville, AL 36067, or to one’s favorite charity. The family will assemble at the graveside.

Marie Chastang

CHASTANG, Marie Cranmore, 59, a resident of Prattville, AL, died on Saturday, June 25, 2005, after an extended illness. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2005, at 2:00 p.m., from the Chapel of Prattville Memorial, with Reverend Wade Borrow officiating. Mrs. Chastang was preceded in death by her husband, Bert Chastang, and one daughter, Misty Hand. She is survived by one daughter, Joyce Seamon, Prattville, AL; four grandchildren, Michael Hand, Matthew Hand, Dynasty Brisco, and Heath Seamon; two great-grandchildren; her step-father, James Cale; two sisters, Nellie Taylor and Tammy Van Valkenburgh, all of Prattville, AL, and one aunt, Mary Jane Seamon.

John Dewey Brown Jr.

BROWN, Jr. John Dewey, 78, a resident of Millbrook, AL, died peacefully on Saturday, November 10, 2007. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 13, 2007, at 2:00 p.m., from the First United Methodist Church of Millbrook with Pastors Danny Rogers and June Jernigan officiating. Burial will follow in Tri-Community Cemetery with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine P. “Kit” Brown. He is survived by two daughters, Katherine Cord, Millbrook, AL, and Debbie Hunt, Marbury, AL; one son, John Dewey (Martha) Brown III, Conyers, GA; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Dixie B. (Barry) Crook, Montgomery, AL. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Ripley Cord, Jr.; John G. Brown, Stephen Cord, Joseph Brown, Brent Cord, and Jonathan Hunt. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial on Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Hazel Crawford

CRAWFORD, Hazel Hughes, 79, a resident of Millbrook, AL, died at her home, on Friday, February 2, 2007, after an extended illness. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 4, 2007, at 2:00 p.m., from the Chapel of Prattville Memorial, with The Reverend Charles Francisco officiating. Burial will follow in Prattville Memory Gardens, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mrs. Crawford was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and a dedicated employee of Prattville Baptist Hospital from which she retired after 27 years of service. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Benny Hershel Crawford. Survivors include her only child, daughter, Beverly H. Holloway and her husband, Richard E. Kotowski, of Lakewood, CO; two grandsons, Joshua Holtsford and Nathan Holtsford, both of Denver, CO; and one niece, Myrtice H. Dickey. Honorary pallbearers will be Raymond Saunders, Dr. Danny Ingram, and Ronald A. Holtsford, Esq. The family of Mrs. Crawford extends their heartfelt gratitude to Odyssey Hospice for their care and compassion. Bobbie Jean CRAMER

CRAMER, Bobbie Jean, 74, a resident of Prattville, AL, died peacefully on Sunday, December 23, 2007, at a Montgomery hospital. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2007, at twelve noon, from the Chapel of Prattville Memorial, with Pastor Randy Newman officiating. Burial will follow in Prattville Memory Gardens, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mrs. Cramer was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her beloved spouse of 44 years, Clement Earl Cramer, Sr., and one daughter, Patricia Warbington. She is survived by one daughter, Diane Shrader; two sons and daughters-in-law, Clement Earl Cramer Jr. and Judy Cramer, Ross Paul Cramer and Brenda Cramer; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and one brother-in-law, Paul (Sandy) Cramer. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Claude Covel

COVEL, Jr., Claude Arthur,69, a resident of Prattville, AL, died unexpectedly on Saturday, May 28, 2005. Funeral services will be held on Thursay, June 2, 2005, at 10:00 a.m., from the Chapel of Prattville Memorial. Burial will follow, with full military honors, in Prattville Memory Gardens, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mr. Covel dedicated twenty years of service to his country by saving lives as a corpsman for the United States Air Force and Navy. He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Patricia Covel of Prattville, AL; two daughters, Amy Covel of Montgomery, AL, and Claudette (Stuart) Grant of St. Mary’s, GA; two sons, Stephen (Marla) Covel and Todd Covel both of Prattville, AL; one brother, John Robert Covel of Clark Mills, NY; six deeply loved grandchildren, Jeremy Grant, Justin Grant, Jessica Banister, Nicole Covel, Stephanie R. Covel, and Nicholas Covel; two great-grandchildren, Brittany Covel and Benjamin Covel. Pallbearers will be the United States Air Force Honor Guard. John Reese Cooper

COOPER, John Reese, Sr., 73, a resident of Prattville, AL, died peacefully on Sunday, February 26, 2006, at a local hospital. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Prattville Memorial. Mr. Cooper honorably served his country as a Veteran of the United States Army. He was preceded in death by one grandson, John Reese Cooper, III, and one brother, William Ernest Cooper. He is survived by his beloved spouse, Melba Cooper, Prattville, AL; two sons and daughters-in-law, John Reese Cooper, Jr. and Trudy, Bixby, OK, Charles “Chuck” and Shelly Cooper, Chouteau, OK; five grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Selvin Royal, Sedalia, MO; one brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Vanda Cooper, Ochlocknee, GA; one sister-in-law, Wanda Cooper, Stigler, OK; one half-brother, A. COX, Robert W., (USAF Ret’d), 81, a resident of Prattville, AL, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 5, 2005, after a brief illness. A private graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2005, at 10:00 a.m., from Prattville Memory Gardens, with his nephew, Reverend Wayne Cox of Tupelo, MS, presiding, Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mr. Cox was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Jesse Cox; one sister, Betty Jo Harris, and three step-sisters, all from Sharon, TN. He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Cox, Prattville, AL; one daughter, Patricia C. Brumsey, Miami, FL; one son, Michael W. Cox, Prattville, AL; seven grandchildren, Taylor, Bobby, Jacqueline, and Andrew Brumsey, of Miami, FL, Kristin, of Prattville, AL, Joshua and Jessica Cox, also of Prattville, AL; one brother, James Cox, three sisters, Myrla Landers, Dorothy Dunn and Joy Cox, all from TN; and a number of nieces and nephews.
