Graveside services for Mrs. Adrian George Baskin were held on July 25, 2003 with Rev. Tim Craddock officiating. Mrs. Baskin, 90, of Meridian, MS, died on July 22 at Kings Daughters and Sons Rest Home in Meridian. She is survived by three nieces: Doris Mitchell, Doris Ann Walton and Marguerite McDonald; four nephews, Jimmy Harwell, Dave George, Tommy George and Leo Gibson; one sister-in- law, Mable George; two special nieces, Jo Harwell Beard and Ann Harwell; four great nieces, Kim Smith, Cindy Conway, Kathy DeVaine and Elisabeth Kelly; and seven great nephews, Ronnie Harwell, Russ Harwell, David Aderholt, Mike Harwell, Dave Harwell and Donnie Harwell. Pallbearers were Ronnie Harwell, Dave Harwell, David Aderholt, William Conway, Jacky Smith and Jason Smith. Bumpers Funeral Home of York was in charge of arrangements.

Emma Mae Brown

Services for Mrs. Emma Mae Brown were held on July 28, 2003 at Grants Chapel CME Church Cuba, AL. The Rev. Paul Holt officiated with interment following in Cagus Cemetery. McInnis Mortuary of Livingston was entrusted with all the arrangements. Those left to cherish special memories are her children, five sons, Bishop Major (Betty) Foster of Milford, DE; Norman (Katie) Brown; Johnny (Eddie) Brown of Cincinatti, OH; Eddie (Eyvonne) Brown of Toomsuba, MS; Russell (Deborah) Brown of Columbia, SC; seven daughters, Lillie (Dan) Fluker; Ruby (Anderson) Rocker; Jessie (Meredith) Smith of Cincinnati, OH; Dessie (Johnny) Larkin of Ypsilanti, MI; Linda Hopkins of Ridgeland, MS; Juanita (Rev. James) Griffin of Madison, MS; Bernice (David) Hopson of Cuba, AL; a loving daughter-in-law, Mary Alice Foster of Butler, AL; sisters-in-law Lula May of Cuba, AL; Oda Craddock, GA; Bennie (Marshall) Marbly, Detroit, MI; Mary Brown, Huntsville, AL; Evelyn Johnson, Cincinnati, OH; one brother-in-law, Robert (Carrie) Brown, Tuskegee, AL; sixty-two grandchildren, many many great and great-great grands. She will be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and a devoted niece, Fannie M. Jemison of Cuba, AL.

Mary Virginia Irwin Sibum

Funeral Services for Ms. Mary Virginia Irwin Sibum were held on Monday, July 28, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. from Bumpers Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. J. Kelly Unger officiating. Burial was in York Cemetary.

Ms Sibum, or Ginnie, as she was known to everyone, of Everett, WA. died on Sunday July 20, at Stevens Memorial Hospital in Edmonds,WA.

She was born in York,Al to Wade Sylvester and Virginia McGowen Irwin. She was Phi Beta Kappa Graduate of the University of Alabama in Pre-med. She lived in the Pacific Northwest for the last 40 years. She worked for almost 3 decades as a computer programmer for Honeywell/Raytheon. The last four years she had been at Realnet. Her friends and family will remember her as a jazz aficionado. She was active in the arts, charitable and political organizations.

She is survived by her sister, Sylvia Irwin; her uncle, Thomas D. McGowen,Sr., and his son,Thomas D. McGowen, Jr.

A celebration of her life was held on her birthday, July 24, 2003 at Rippe’s Restaurant in Seattle.

Pallbearers were Ronnie Beard, Price Tillery, Nathan Watkins, Tom McGowen,Sam McGowen, and Bob Ferguson. Honorary Pallbearer was Joe Stegall. Bumpers Funeral Home of York was in charge of arrangements.

Yerby Turner Auxford

Yerby Turner Auxford, 74, of Sandusky and formerly of Sumter County, died November 17, 2003 at his residence. He was a retired Special Education Teacher from West Jefferson High School. He was a U.S. Veteran of the Army, Air Force and Marine Corps. He was a member of Acacia Lodge #670 F&AM.

Elizabeth Bell Stegall

Elizabeth Bell Stegall, 97, died on November 30, 2003. Funeral services were held at the Emelle Community Church at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 2, with Bishop Paul A. Duffey, Dr. Karl K. Stegall and Reverend David Joe Lee officiating. Visitation was in the fellowship hall of the church one hour prior to the service.

Norman Rouhlac Lindsey

Funeral Services for Mr. Norman Rouhlac Lindsey were held Monday, December 1 at 2:00 p.m. at the Livingston First Baptist Church with Rev. Carl Sudduth and Rev. Richard Welch officiating. Burial followed in Christopher’s Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Jachin with the Alabama State Troopers Honor Guard participating. Visitation was from 1:00 p.m. until funeral time in the Livingston First Baptist Church Family Life Center.

Mrs. Carolyn “Lady C” Stovall

Mrs. Carolyn “Lady C” Stovall, 54, died Saturday, november 22, 2003 at her residence in York.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday November 26 at 11:00 a.m. at Eastern Star Baptist Church in York. Reverend Douglas Maddrey officiated and interment followed at Elmwood Memorial Gardens. McInnis Mortuary of Livingston was entrusted with all arrangements.

Bill Moore Jr.

Bill Moore Jr., 76, peacefully departed this life on Saturday, March 20, 2004, at his home at 96 Maynard St., Springfield, MA.

Bill was born in York, AL to the late Bill Moore, Sr. and the late Willie (Jackson) Moore on July 14, 1927. Bill moved to Springfield from York 28 years ago. He united with St. John s Congregational Church, UCC in Springfield, where he remained a dedicated and faithful member. He retired from Avery Dennison National (former National Blank Book Company) and worked actively in his own home-based business until his health no longer permitted.

Bill was predeceased by his sister: Callie Mae Williams; and is survived by his daughters: Carol Moore Cutting (Dr. Gerald Bruce) of Longmeadow, MA; Laura P. Moore of York; and Jessica Wallace (Darrell), of Jacksonville, NC; a sister, Rosie Moore of York; an aunt, Sallie Jackson of York; special committed lifetime partner and friend, Ms. Mattie Dawson Moore Hall; sisters-in-law: Jeanette Richardson of Boston, MA, Mary, Julia and Sally B. Dawson of Livingston; grandchildren Alysia Cutting Cosby (Leon), Darrel Bryan Cutting, and Jazmine Wallace; and great-grandchildren Imani, Ciara, Christopher and Carlos Cosby. Bill also leaves 20 nieces and nephews (+10 spouses); 36 great-nieces & nephews, 24 great-great nieces & nephews, numerous cousins, other family and friends to celebrate his life and legacy.

The “Celebration of Life” Service will be held on Thursday, March 25, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John s Congregational Church, UCC located 643 Union St., in Springfield, officiated by Rev. Dr. Howard-John Wesley. Calling hours will precede the service on Thursday from 10 a.m. -11 a.m. at the church and Henderson Funeral Home in Springfield is in charge of arrangements.

On Saturday, March 27 at 2:00 p.m., the “Celebration Of Life” Service will be held at First Baptist Church in York with Rev Jonathan Byrd, Pastor and Rev. Dr. Catherine JoshuaAdonai (his former Assistant Pastor at St John’s Congregational Church in Springfield, MA). Interment is in Elmwood Memorial Garden in York and Weatherly Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.

Mr. Robert Almond, Jr.

Mr. Robert Almond, Jr., 54, died recently at his home in Lauderdale, MS. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 27, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. from the Elizabeth Baptist Church in Lauderdale, MS. The Rev. Terry Anderson will officiate and interment will follow in Gibbd Cemetery. Visitation/ Public viewing for family and friends will be Friday, March 26, 2004 from 1:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. at the mortuary and one hour propr to service time at the church on Saturday. McInnis Mortuary of Livingston was in charge of all arrangements.

Mr. Almond is survived by his wife: Doroth Almond; his mother: Ida Ree Almond; four sons: Dennis Cole, Gregory Almond, Jr. , Robert Almond and Johnny Almond; four daughters: Limbretta Edwards, Lynette Almond, Tomekia Almond and Tonya Almond; three sisters: Mary Wilson, Annie B. Clayton and Catherine Patrick; six brothers: Early B. Almond, Ernest Almond, Henry Almond, Sammy Almond and Edward Almond; nine grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Alicia Diane Johnson

Funeral Services for Mrs. Alicia Diane Johnson, age 49, will be held Thursday, March 25 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Fairhope Funeral Home with Rev. Ted Mashburn officiating. Interment and graveside services will be at 3:30 pm at Sumter County Memorial Gardens on Hwy. 11 in Cuba, AL. Visitation wsa held on Wednesday evening, March 24, 2004 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Fairhope Funeral Home.

Mrs. Johnson, a native of Gadsden, AL and a resident of Fairhope, AL. died Monday, March 22, 2004. Mrs. Johnson was employed in the banking industry for the past 24 years. She was a member fo the Fairhope First Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband: Robert Tex Johnson; one son: Brad (Dana) Johnson of Silverhill, AL; one daughter: Ashlea Brooke Johnson of Fairhope, AL; mother: Alvis Smith Roberts of Cuba, AL and one brother: Everette Wayne Roberts, also of Cuba, AL. Funeral arrangements are made by Fairhope Funeral Home & Crematory, 19698 Grreno Rd., Fairhope, AL 36532.

Carolyn B. Randle

Funeral services for Mrs. Carolyn B. Randle were held on May 29, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at Mt Zion Baptist Church in Cuba, with the Rev. Howard Thomas officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery with E.E. McDonald Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.

Mrs. Randle, 44, of Cuba, died on Sunday, May 23 at Riley Memorial Hospital in Meridian, MS. She was employed as a cook.

Survivors include two sons: Michael Randle of Tuscaloosa and Eric Randle of Fort Hood, TX; two daughters: Christina Randle and Erica Randle, both of Cuba; two brothers: Willie C. (Emma) Brooks of Aberdeen, MS, and Louis (Beverly) Brooks, Jr., of Chicago, IL; six sisters: Clarice Maddox of Cuba, Gussie Hope of Chicago, IL, Mary Madison of Cuba, Bertha Brooks of Bakersfield, CA and Sarah Johnson of Bakersfield, CA; aunts, uncle, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband and three siblings.

Clyde William Bradley, Jr.

Colonel (Ret.) Clyde William Bradley, Jr., of Montgomery died Friday, May 28, 2004. A graveside service and burial was held at Boyd Cemetery on Sunday, May 30 at 3:00 p.m. Bumper’s Funeral Home, York, directed.

A service of Resurrection was held Monday, May 31 in Montgomery at Memorial Presbyterian Church. Dr. Patrick Smith officiated both services.

Col. Bradley’s survivors include his wife: Elizabeth Dial Bradley, formerly of Sumter County; two sons: Bill Bardley (Catherine Prather) of Asheville, NC, and Brian Bradley (Katherin) of Huntsville; daughter: Brenda Binning (Fay) of Valle Crucis, NC; sister: Helen Krickhan of Asheville, NC; brother: Eckel Bradley (Rita) of Asheville, NC; and four granddaughters: Laura Severn (Charlie) of Knoxville, TN, Sara Bradley of Huntsville, Annie Binning and Lucy Benning, both of Valle Crucis, NC.

Thomas Edwin McDonald

Funeral Services for Mr. Thomas Edwin McDonald were held on Monday, May 31, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. from Siloam Baptist Church with Dr. Bob Simmons officiating. Burial was in Siloam Cemetery.

Mr. McDonald, 91, of Cuba, died Saturday, May 29 at Hill Hospital in York. He was retired from the Burlington Northern Railroad as a welder, a member of Cuba Baptist Church, and was presently a resident of Sumter Health & Rehab. He enjoyed shop work, gardening, yard work, fishing, and spending time with neighbors, friends and family. He had a sense of humor and a keen dry wit.

Pallbearers were Skip Holder, Bob Taylor, Neil Allen, Bill Taylor, Larry Ross, Allen Bruce, Ed Bruce, and Phil McDonald.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Leona “Sweet” Holder McDonald; his parents; and four brothers.

Bumpers Funeral Home of York was in charge of arrangements.
