Mrs. Dolores Theresa Mottesheard
Mrs. Dolores Theresa Burchette Mottesheard, age 94, a resident of Lockesburg, AR died Thursday, November 15, 2007 in Nashville, Arkansas after a 10 ½ year battle with alzheimers, she won.
She was born March 20, 1913 in McDowell County, West Virginia to David and Aurelia Patrick Burchette. She was a teacher, homemaker and office worker, a member of the First Baptist Church in Lockesburg, former member of the First Baptist Church in Jonesville, North Carolina and VFW in Elkin, North Carolina. After the visitation in De Queen Mrs. Mottesheard will be flown to North Carolina to be buried next to the gateway to the Blue Ridge Parkway, next to the man she loved all of her life, protected by her precious mountains and missed by a million people who she taught, played with. Worked with and loved.
Mrs. Mottesheard was preceded in death by her husband, William Howard Mottesheard.
She is survived by her children, Donna Gallaher and her husband, Ed of Lockesburg, AR, David Mottesheard of South San Francisco, California, Margaret M. Tyser and her husband, Ross of Spartanburg, South Carolina, her adopted daughter, Miriam Martin and her husband, Gary of Pahrump, Nevada; her grandchildren, Arthur R. Nation III, Mark A. Nation and his wife, Lisha, Marcy Mottesheard Evans, Trina Mottesheard Bowsher and her husband Craig, Aurelia Tyser and Annette Tyser; and her great-grandchildren, William Nation, Megan Upchurch, Arthur Raymond Nation IV, and Haydence Bowsher; and her great-great grandson, Jeremy Wright, Jr.
The family will receive friends from 5-7p.m., Friday, November 16th at Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, November 18, 2007 in the First Baptist Church in Jonesville, NC with Dr. Ray Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow in the Crestwood Memorial Gardens in State Road, N.C. There will be visitation at 2:00 p.m. at the church before the service.
Mrs. Barbara Scaggs
Mrs. Barbara Allene Smith Scaggs, age 67, a resident of De Queen, died Thursday, November 15, 2007 in a Dallas, Texas Hospital.
She was born to Bill D. and Juanita Evelyn Plunkett at Atoka, Oklahoma on January 18, 1940. She retired Dietitian for De Queen Medical Center, as well as a homemaker. She was a member of and former president of the Arkansas DMA, and was a member of the Old Time Missionary Baptist Church of De Queen. She enjoyed sewing and was a gourmet cook.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, and her husband, Morris Scaggs.
She is survived by one son, Mark Edward and Ramona Scaggs of De Queen, one daughter, Evelyn LeAnne Scaggs of De Queen, Ark; a grandson, James, five brothers, John D. Smith, Richard Smith of Holland, Michigan, Dewey Smith of Wayland, Michigan, Charles Smith of Altus, Oklahoma, and Carl Smith of De Queen, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Barbara Scaggs will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 18, 2007, in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Ligon officiating. Burial will follow Redman Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home.
Mrs. Mae Penney
Mae Penney, 95, or the Miller community, near Foreman, AR, died Thursday, November 15, 2007 at Little river Nursing Home in Ashdown, Arkansas.
Mrs. Penney was born September 14, 1912 at Falls Chapel, Arkansas to Bill and Betty Jackson Spicer. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter: Dixie Daris; her husband: Roy Penney; one brother: Billy Spicer; and two sisters: Edna Wood and Dorothy B. Hart.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law: William Roy Penney and Annette of Fayetteville, AR; one daughter and son-in-law: Barbara and Olen Chewning of Miller community; one sister and brother-in-law: Barbara Freda and Kenneth Schaeffer of Fouke, AR; one sister-in-law: Edo Spicer of Kerrville, TX; five grandchildren: Brad Chewning of Shinewell, OK. Karen White of Champagne, IL, Diane Halliburton of Bentonville, AR, Robert Chewning of Miller community, and Michael Penney of St. Louis, MO; 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces an nephews; and her church family of Winthrop Baptist Church.
Mrs. Penney loved to be at her fishing camp on Millwood Lake and enjoyed fishing an squirrel hunting.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 17, 2007 at the Winthrop Baptist church with Rev. Audie Dawson officiating. Burial will be in the Falls Chapel Cemetery
under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
Visitation will be Friday, November 16th from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. William J. Green
William J. Green, age 70, a resident of Foreman, died Tuesday, November 13, 2007 in the Christus St. Michael Healthcare Center in Texarkana.
He was born November 18, 1936 in Atlanta, Texas to Clifford and Ruthy Whisenhunt Green. He was a retired advanced lightning and technology warehouse manager and served in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Green is survived by 5 daughters, Ruthie Hutson of Krum, Texas, Tressa Hall of Little Elm, Texas, Diana Brock of Valley View, Texas, Pam Watts of Krum, Texas and Brenda McBride of Foreman, Arkansas; four sons, Richard Fielder of Houston, Texas, Tommy Fielder of Valley View, Texas, Jerry D. Green of Rogers, Arkansas and Alan Green of Foreman; one brother, Gerald D. Green of Foreman; one step-daughter, Rachael De Ford and children; 27 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Graveside Funeral Services for Mr. Green will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, November 15, 2007 in the Green Cemetery
with Rev. Ken Golden officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

Mrs. Amber Morris
Mrs. Amber Carleigh Davis Morris, age 29, a resident of Wickes, Arkansas, died Sunday, November 11, 2007 in Baptist Medical Center, Little Rock, Ark.
She was born on March 11, 1978 at De Queen, Arkansas. She graduated from Arkansas State University with a BA Degree, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Vandervoort, Arkansas. She was a loving wife and mother, and enjoyed riding and caring for horses, listening to music, and shopping. She had deep compassion for others.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Royle C. Davis.
She is survived by her husband, Brent Morris of Wickes, their son, Brentley Morris of the home, her father and step-mother, Randy and Sherry Davis of Wickes, Ark.; her mother and step-father, Paula and Merle Dickerson of Van Buren, Ark.; three step-sisters, Maralyn Faulkenberry of De Queen, Holly Holland of Gentry, Ark., and Melissa Birchfield of Atlanta, Texas, one step-brother, Truett Shilling of Colorado Springs, Colorado, her grandparents, John and Imogene Tidwell of Wickes, and Winnona Davis Brewer of Wickes, and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Amber Morris will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 15, 2007, in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel, De Queen. Mr. William G. "Bill" Stainton, Jr.
William G. "Bill" Stainton, Jr. was born October 23, 1948 in Gainesville, FL to William and Dorothy Harvey Stainton. He was a former football coach in Hope and Camden. for the past several years he has been employed by Pilgrims Pride. He was a member of the First United Methodist church of De Queen. Bill was a great outdoorsman, had a keen interest in young athletes, and was an avid Razorback fan.
He is survived by two daughters: Julie Stainton Post and her husband Mike of Houston, TX, and Jessica Stainton; three grandchildren: Laurel, Sam and Seth; his mother, Dot Stainton of De queen; two sisters: Cindy S. Wilkerson of De Queen and ginger Moore of New Boston, TX; his fiancé, Sandy Cowling of De Queen; and several nieces and nephews to whom he was known as "Unk B".
Funeral services for Mr. Stainton will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2007 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Redmen Cemetery.

Mrs. Inez Christine Clifford Jones
Mrs. Inez Christine Clifford Jones, age 87, a resident of Pittsburg, Texas and formerly of Dierks, Arkansas, died Thursday, November 8, 2007 in a Pittsburg Hospital.
She was born October 06, 1920 in Port Smith, Ohio to William Harrison and Ida Mae Huff Clifford. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
She is survived by one son, Earl Lewis Powers of Salyersville, Kentucky; two daughters and a son-in-law, Ida Mae Powers of Pittsburg, Texas and Robbie Gail and John R. Williams of Pittsburg, Texas; one sister, Ruth Ann Lykins of Liberty, Kentucky; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mrs. Kathy Darlene Kesterson
Mrs. Kathy Kesterson, age 55, of Vandervoort, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at her home.
She was born February 24, 1952 in DeQueen, Arkansas to the late Ovan Sharp and the late Marietta White Sharp. She was united in marriage to Clovis Kesterson in Poteau, Oklahoma on December 17, 1974. Kathy worked at the Polk County Courthouse for many years as well as working the farm she and Clovis had built. She was a loving homemaker, wife, sister, aunt, and friend. Her vitality and spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by: Husband: Clovis Kesterson of the home; Brother: Roger Sharp of Wickes, Arkansas Sister: Mary Page and husband Leon of Cove, Arkansas Brothers-in law: Basil Kesterson and wife Penny of Wickes, Arkansas Joe Kesterson and wife Christine of Wickes, Arkansas Jeff Kesterson of Gillham, Arkansas; Very special friend: Ruthie Holomshek of Mena, Arkansas; Many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ovan and Marietta Sharp and her daughter, Marietta Michelle Kesterson.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 1, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cove Revival Center with Brother Reggi Fryar officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery
under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. Family and friends visitation will be Thursday evening, January 31st from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Ben Burl Hedge
Mr. Ben Burl Hedge, age 69, a resident of Grannis, Arkansas, died Monday, January 28,2008 at his home following a lengthy battle with cancer.
He was born to Grady and Lillie Lambert Hedge at Wickes, Arkansas on June 19, 1938. He was a building contractor as well as a rancher. He attended the Church of the Nazarene at Wickes, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an avid collector of tractors and guns. He was a gun smith, as well as a custom toy builder for his kids and grandkids.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Loretta Hedge and Carol Riley, a brother, Jackie Hedge, and a half-sister, Kathy Hedge.
He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Betty Stewart Hedge of Grannis, one son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Marcie Hedge of De Queen, one daughter and son-in-law, Tracy and Andy Youngblood of Grannis, two half- sisters, Betty Hedge and Terry Hill both of Roseburg, Oregon, five grandchildren, Toby Hedge, McKenzie Morphew, Tanner Hedge, Ben Youngblood, and Matti Youngblood, a special brother-in-law, Bill and his wife, Pat Stewart of Grannis, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mr. Burl Hedge will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 30, 2008 in the Church of the Nazarene at Wickes with Rev. David Baker and Bro. Leon McCleskey officiating. Burial will follow in the Baker Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Relay for Life.
Mr. Lowell Eugene Argenbright
Mr. Lowell Eugene Argenbright, was born to Roy and Penelope Pauline Argenbright, November 25, 1936 in Mineral, AR, and departed this life to be with his Savior Jesus Christ January 26, 2008.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 49 years Phyllis Argenbright, one son & daughter-in-law Darrell & Shelley Argenbright, one daughter Karen Russell & son-in law, Tommy Russell, and 8 grandchildren, Terri Helms, Jonathan Helms, Jessica Helms, Cheyenne Argenbright, Seth Cash, Tyler Cash, Devon Russell, Libby Russell and 4 great-grandchildren, Caleb Palfreeman, Brennen Palfreeman, Carlee Helms and Zoe Helms. Terri, Mark, Caleb and Brennen Palfreeman residing this time in India. Jonathan, Callie, Carlee and Zoe residing this time in De Queen, AR. Jessica Helms at this time residing in Texarkana, TX.
Also, a very special little brother “Little Luke” Don Argenbright of Selma, CA, and another special brother, fishing partner, and music making partner, Johnny Reed of De Queen, Arkansas.
Lowell moved west to California with his family during the “Great Depression” to find work. He and his brother Don helped support the family by picking fruit and working in the packing houses. Lowell returned to Gillham, Arkansas to graduate high school with the class he started with. After graduation Lowell returned to California where he enlisted in the Army. He served his country in Korea. He often told his family you never know how much the flag means to you until you see it flown in a country where it is not welcome.
Lowell married Phyllis Flynn on November 27, 1958 while stationed at Ft. Mead, Maryland after returning from Korea. He returned with Phyllis to California to begin their life together.
From an early age music was a big part if Lowell’s life. He grew up playing with a group of cousins. Sonny, Howard and Doyle. While in Maryland and California he worked with some very big names in the music industry, Patsy Cline, David Frizzell, Johnny Russell, Gene Crossland, Loyd Massey, Norman Hamlet, Jimmy Nichols, Jimmy Phillip, Ron and Brett Lowrey, Joe Holley, Red Belt, Alex Brachear, Leonard Athey, JJ Jester, Jack Ansel and Joe Sylva.
After several years in California he returned to Arkansas to raise his children where he had been raised himself. He built his home within ½ mile of his original birth place and he will be buried at Mineral Cemetery
approximately 200 yards from the home he built. After returning to Arkansas he was in custom home construction and built several homes and commercial buildings in Southwest, Arkansas. He was very involved in music and taught his children and other youth and later on his grandchildren the art of playing music. He and several other home town folks remodeled his barn into a practice place and people just started coming and they kept coming every weekend and is still talked about today. He has used his gift of music to help many, many different organizations and families with their medical needs, fire loss needs, community needs. He has been one to always give back to his community. He has also taught his children to do the same.
The last few years of his life he has spent fishing with Johnny Reed and family and he has continued to play music at benefit dances and the nursing homes with Brother Walker and friends, and also the Palace Restaurant where he enjoyed the hoe downs. Lowell Gene's family has the comfort of knowing he made a public profession of faith, repented of His sins, turned from them and made known his salvation, ran to the one and only, Jesus Christ, our only HOPE for today, to have a one-on-one relationship with Him many years ago at First Baptist Church in Gillham, Arkansas.
Even from his hospital bed it seemed he knew his time was short here in this world and there was still so many left to tell about the Lord because we would find him asking the doctors if they knew Jesus. He was planting seeds everyday with every breath that was left. He kept saying we are not of this world, our only hope is eternity and Jesus Christ is the only way to eternity in heaven. He was a man, not perfect but forgiven trying to walk out his life by biblical standards. He was a good husband, a good daddy, a wonderful daddy-in-law, a wonderful grandpa and a good friend to all who knew him. He loved life, family, friends, fishing and music. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 29, 2008, at the First Baptist Church in De Queen with Rev. J. L. Walker and Rev. Jerry Hill officiating. Burial will follow in the Mineral Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
Memorials may be made to the Lowell Argenbright Scholarship Fund, c/o Jonathan Helms and Mary Russell, 808 Stern Court, De Queen, Arkansas 71832.
Pallbearers will be Vernon Parks, JJ Jester, Brett Lowery, Gene Simmons, Chad Bradshaw, Buddy Boy Argenbright. Honorary Pallbearers are Johnny Reed, Gene Crossland, Ricky Stanford, Ron Lowery and Bob Ward.
