David Lee “Uncle Dave” Sanders

Mr. David Lee “Uncle Dave” Sanders, age 56, a resident of Lockesburg, died Saturday, August 28th in the Christus St.Michael Hospital.

He was born to Wilbur Jene and Dotty Mae Clark Sanders at Twin Falls, Idaho on August 20, 1954. He was a construction worker, and enjoyed woodworking.

He is survived by his mother, Dotty Mae Sanders of Cabool, Mo, a nephew, Rick and his wife, Tammy Clark of Lockesburg, Ark.; nine brothers and sisters, as well as other family members. Cremation is entrusted to Chandler Funeral Home, and no services are planned.

Joe Bruce Baker, Jr.

Joe Bruce Baker, Jr., age 46, a resident of Ashdown, Arkansas, died Saturday August 28, 2010 in Texarkana, Texas. Mr. Baker was born June 11, 1964 in De Queen, Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Gloria Jean Thompson Baker.

He is survived by one daughter, Mary Catherine Weathers Baker of Idabel, Oklahoma; two sons, John Weathers of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Justin Buck of Ashdown; his father Joe Baker, Sr. of Crossroads, Arkansas; one sister, Kathy Knighten of Crossroads; three brothers, Eddie Baker and James Baker of Crossroads and Shane Baker of Ashdown and his former wife, Leanne Tucker of Idabel, Oklahoma.

Memorial Services for Mr. Baker will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 2, 2010 in the Foreman First Baptist Church with David Tucker officiating. Burial will follow in the Gravelly Cemetery. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen, Arkansas.

Ruby Dell Waldrop Meeks

Mrs. Ruby Dell Waldrop Meeks, age 94, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas died Saturday, August 28, 2010 in Dierks.

She was born January 2, 1916 in Comanche, Texas. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

Mrs. Meeks was preceded in death by her husband, George Washington Meeks on August 6, 2007; her parents, Claiborn Pink and Lula Barcroft Waldrop; five sisters and two brothers.

She is survived by one son, Doyle Neal; two daughters, Netty Wilson and Pauline Lingo all of Dierks; one special friend Barbra Johnson; 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services for Mrs. Meeks will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 31, 2010 in the New Bethel Cemetery near Lockesburg, Arkansas with Bro. Bobby Neal officiating under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, August 30, 2010 at the funeral home in Dierks.

Tonya Robb

Mrs. Tonya Lea Dixon Robb, age 49, a resident of Vandervoort, Ark., died Friday, August 27th from injuries received in an automobile accident north of De Queen on Highway 71.

She was born to Amos Wesley and Anna LaVonne Ibitson Dixon on January 1, 1961, in Oklahoma City, Okla. She was a Baptist and a homemaker. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, bottle feeding animals, and especially enjoyed her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Don Robb of Vandervoort, Ark.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Brandy and Jessie Sanchez, LaTisha Robb, and Kayla and Isaac Chambers all of Vandervoort, Ark.; her parents, Amos Wesley and Anna LaVonna Ibitson Dixon of Hatton, Ark.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, DeWayne and Doris Dixon of Hatton, Ark; and Henry and Edna Dixon of Cove, Ark.; two sisters Rhonda Pollard of Smithville, Okla.; and Karla Baker of Choctaw, Okla.; six grandchildren, Bailey Robb, Jeremiah Sanchez, La Brayla Robb, Jaydon Sanchez TyLynn Robb, and Jayna Sanchez; and a number of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Tonya Robb are entrusted to Chandler Funeral Home, and will be held at 2:00p.m., Monday, August 30th in the Baker Cemetery, Wickes with Rev. Walter "Billy Bear" Williams officiating.

Lonnie Shane Eudy

Lonnie Shane Eudy, 39, of Dierks, died Tuesday, August 24, 2010, in an automobile accident. He was born January 19, 1971, at De Queen, AR, the son of Lonnie Gene and Cheryl Helms Eudy.

He was employed by Pilgrims Pride in De Queen, AR.

Mr. Eudy was preceded in death by his mother, Cheryl Helms Eudy and Grandmother, Velma Eudy.

He is survived by his father, Lonnie Eudy of Dierks, AR; one brother, Scott Eudy of Queen City, TX; paternal grandfather, Arthur Eudy of Dierks, AR and maternal grandparents, Marvin and Clarene Helms of Provo, AR; a number of aunts, uncles, two nephews and a host of friends.

Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 A, M., Saturday, August 28, at McHorse Cemetery, near Lockesburg, AR, under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home, Nashville.

Lula Simpson

Ms. Lula Louise Simpson, age 84, a resident of Lockesburg, Arkansas, died Tuesday, August 17, 2010 in a Texarkana Hospital.

She was born to William and Lucy Greenlee Simpson at Lockesburg, Ar. on April 23, 1926. She was Certified Nurses assistant, where she worked for the V.A. Hospital until her retirement. and she was a member of the Gospel Mission Baptist Church of Kansas City, and enjoyed her church, singing, sewing, gardening, and reading.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Nathan Hershel Simpson, Surrie Simpson, Earnest Simpson, and a sister, Elmira Holmes.

She is survived by her ex-husband, George Edward Johnson of Lockesburg, three sons and daughters- in-law, Dallard E. Johnson and Margaret Ann Kerr, and Lynn Douglas Johnson all of Los Angeles, Calif. and Aaron Michael Johnson of Kansas City, Missouri, Three daughters and sons-in-law, Portia Ann Taylor of Topeka, Kansas, Priscilla and Kerry Lance Greenwood of Lockesburg, Ar, and Lucinda Syliva and Howard Christopher Gray of California, Maryland, one brother, Dr. Brewel S. Simpson of Lockesburg, Ar., two sisters, Wyola McFalls of Lockesburg, and Beulah Marie Luckett of Kansas City, Missouri, nine grandchildren, Timothy Dupree, Lashelle Johnson, Joshua Kelly, Yvette Renee Johnson, Ian Thomas Johnson, Joshua Ryan Gray, Carlin Marie Gray, Kyrstyn Michaela Gray, and Miles Xavier Gray, twelve great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Ms. Lula Simpson are entrusted to Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen, Arkansas and will be held at 2:00p.m., Saturday, August 28th in the New Zion Baptist Church, Lockesburg, Arkansas. with Rev. Anthony Ealy, great-nephew, officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Lockesburg. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 27 at the Chandler Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Kathy Hallmark Stapp

Mrs. Kathy Hallmark Stapp, age 56, a resident of Dierks, AR died Tuesday, August 24, 2010 in Dierks.

She was born June 17, 1954 in Nashville, AR. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.

Mrs. Stapp was preceded in death by her father, Mack Hallmark.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald Stapp of Dierks; one son, Andy Shelton of Magazine, AR; one daughter, Christi Smith of Nashville, AR; her mother, Margaret Hallmark of Nashville; one sister, Becky Harberson of Lockesburg, AR; one brother, Randy Hallmark of Murfreesboro, AR; one step-son, Jason Stapp and one step-daughter, Angie McBride, both of Dierks; 10 grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Stapp will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 28, 2010 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in Dierks. Burial will follow in the County Line Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, August 27, 2010 at the funeral home in Dierks.

Jeremy Allen Royal

Jeremy Royal, age 30, a resident of Ben Lomond, Ark., died Wednesday, August 18, 2010, close to Malvern Ark in a truck wreck.

Jeremy was born Dec. 2, 1979 in De Queen. Jeremy loved living life to the fullest. He was a member of the National Guard. He worked for Little River County, was an Owner Operator, Diesel Mechanic for Hanson Gravel, and currently was employed by By-Pass Diesel.

Jeremy was preceded in death by his Grandmother’s Johnnie Mae Cowan and Wanda Faye Holt; Great grandparents Dude and Mary Foran; Cousin Paul Foran.

He is survived by his wife, Crystal Royal of Ben Lomond; son, Austin Royal, daughter, Erin Royal of Winthrop, Ar; stepsons Andrew and Dalton of Ben Lomond; Mother Susan Hill (Dee) of Plano, Tx; Father Jamie Royal and Rhonda of Foreman, Ar; Brother Kyle

Royal and Amanda of Sherman, Tx; Grandfather Sidney Cowan and Rachel of Republic, Wa.; Roseanna Royal Winthrop, Ar., stepbrothers David and Thomas and Stepsister Tiffany of Plano, Tx; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.

Funeral Services for Jeremy Allen Royal will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 28, 2010 at the First Southern Baptist Church of Crossroads at 1608 Hwy 41, Winthrop, AR with Rev. Stuart Miller officiating, under the direction of Madden Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Gillham Cemetery.

Mrs. Jimmie Dickson

Mrs. Jimmie Dickson, age 93, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Monday, August 23, in the De Queen Medical Center.

She was born in Hamilton, Texas, March 20, 1917, and has been a resident of De Queen since 1945. Ill health forced her to move to her son’s home in Texas in 2005. She moved back this year into Brookewood Nursing Home. She was a dedicated Christian, and a member of First Baptist Church of De Queen. One of her greatest joys was teaching a Sunday School Class at First Baptist for many years. She was given to hospitality, and opened her home to many ministers and missionaries through the years. She was affectionately known as "Mama Jim" by most of her descendants, and many of their friends.

Mrs. Dickson was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd T. Dickson, and her son, Carol Boyd Dickson, both in 1999. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Carolyn Dickson, of Burleson, TX in 1983, and a grandson, Kenneth Ray Bizzell of Umpire, AR, in 2007.

She is survived by her son, James M. Dickson and daughter-in-law, Jeanne of Aquilla, Texas, her daughter, Nancy Stafford and son-in-law, Jeff of Independence, KY, and her daughter, Gemmie Gladys Dickson/Dellinger and her son-in-law, James Dellinger of Wake Village, TX. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.

Mrs. Dickson epitomized the qualities of the virtuous woman described in Proverbs 31. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Dickson will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 30, 2010 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Dickson officiating. Burial will follow in the Redmen Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 p.m., Sunday, August 29th at the funeral home.

Fred Hall Bandy

Mr. Fred Hall Bandy, age 83, a resident of Jefferson, Texas died Thursday, June 10, 2010 at his home.

A native of Hope, Mr. Bandy grew up in De Queen and was preceded in death by his parents, Louis H. and Louise Hall Bandy of De Queen, and a sister, Marilyn Bandy Williams of Little Rock.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marie Anne Guilbeau Bandy of Jefferson; four children, Steven Bandy of Rayne, La., Susan Horaist of Spring, Texas; Patrick Bandy of Santa Monica, Calif., and Kevin Bandy of Murrieta, Calif.; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

A graveside memorial service for Mr. Bandy will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 28, 2010 in Redmen Cemetery with Rev. David Williams officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

J.C. Hendrix

Mr. J. C. Hendrix, age 71, a resident of Eagletown, Oklahoma, died Tuesday, August 24th in the De Queen Medical Center.

He was born to Buck and Effie Ella Crosnoe Hendrix at Grannis, Arkansas, on July 5, 1939. He was a former administrator of Ridgeview Nursing Home, and was retired from Tucker Appliance. He was a Baptist, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping.

J. C. was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Dexter.

He is survived by his wife of over 51 years, Wannette “Pete” Simpson Hendrix of Eagletown, Okla.; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Clarence Hendrix of De Queen, D. A. and Martha Hendrix of Dallas, Texas, Darrell Gene Hendrix, Lee and Debbie Hendrix, and Jerry Wayne and Lonnie Hendrix all of Ashdown, Ark.; a sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Leon Klitz of Crossroads, Ark., their adopted grandchildren, Kayla Cook of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Michelle Montgomery of Broken Bow, Okla., Lacey Stovall, and James Stovall both of Redland, Okla., and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services are entrusted to Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen, and will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 26th in the West Otis Cemetery with Leon Klitz and Cy Davis, ministers officiating.
