Charles L. Raymond
EL DORADO -- Charles L. Raymond, 76, of El Dorado died Thursday, Aug. 25.
Born at DuValls Bluff, he was a retired U.S. Army veteran, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4683, and American Legion Post No. 0047 at Newport. He was a past ordained deacon of First Presbyterian Church of Newport.
Survivors include a stepson, Theodor Kempter of Newport; a brother, Billy Joe Raymond of Newport; two sisters, Nellie Louise Campbell of Sherwood and Peggy Mardene Olsen of El Dorado; one stepgrandchild, Michelle Black; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hermine Raymond, and his parents, William and Claudia Lou Holloway Raymond.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Jackson's Funeral Home of Newport, with the Rev. Alan Ford officiating.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Pat Talmadge Watson
PARAGOULD -- Graveside services for Pat Talmadge Watson, 75, formerly of Paragould, who died Thursday, Aug. 25, at Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tenn., will be at 10 a.m. today in Liberty Cemetery.
Tim Howard will officiate. Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould is in charge of arrangements.
The procession will leave Mitchell Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. today.
Pallbearers will be Bo Raulerson, Richard Hall, Ron Morris, Ben Farley, Bobby Ketchum and Wayne Welch
An Army veteran of the
Korean War, he was born at Lepanto. He was a retired construction worker and a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include a son, Craig Watson of Searcy; a daughter, Karen Farley of Steele, Mo., two granddaughters, Rachel Cooper and Chelesa Waston; and three grandsons, Luke Cooper, Chandler Watson and Samuel Watson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, W.T. and Flora Watson; a brother, John L. Watson; and two sisters, Pauline Cooper and Helen Henderson.
Memorials may be made to Paragould Children's Home.
George Franklin Browning
JONESBORO -- George Franklin Browning, 91, of Jonesboro died Saturday, Aug. 27, at his residence.
Born at Bono, he lived most of his life in Jonesboro and was a retired salesman for Electrolux Corp. He was also a former salesman for Patton Motor Co. and worked as a fireman on the Cotton Belt Railroad. He was a charter member of the Cotton Belt Railroad Historical Society. He was of the Baptist belief.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Browning of the home; a son, Don. W. Browning of Jonesboro; a daughter, Sharon Browning Winn of Jonesboro; and four grandchildren, David Neal Browning, Faith Browning Winn, Laura Leigh Browning and John Rainey Browning, all of Jonesboro.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Ada Tooley Browning; a son, David D. Browning; four brothers; and three sisters.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro, with the Rev. Worth Gibson and the Rev. Tad Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Verlon Garmon, Mark Childress, David Browning, Gary Childress, Stan Nutt, Gary Churchill and Larry Churchill.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

HARRISBURG -- Sara Mellie Burnett, 81, of Harrisburg died Saturday, Aug. 27, at Harrisburg.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Jackson's Funeral Home of Harrisburg.
Jack Curtis Chandler
WILSON -- Jack Curtis Chandler, 66, of Wilson died Saturday, Aug. 27, at Methodist Hospital Central in Memphis.
Born at Whitton, he was a 1956 graduate of Harrisburg High School and farmed in Mississippi County for 50 years. He was a member of Joiner Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Shelby Speck Chandler; three sons, Todd Chandler of Wardell, Scott Chandler of Wilson and Justin Chandler of Bella Vista; a daughter, Leigh Anne Burton of Lowell; three brothers, Randy Chandler, Gary Chandler and Kelly Chandler, all of Wilson; two sisters, Bud Jo Heeb of Harrisburg and Diane Ashburn of Marion; and four grandchildren, Zachary Chandler and Casey Chandler, both of Wardell, and Luke Burton and Victoria Burton, both of Lowell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Ruth Ryburn Chandler; and a sister.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Roller-Swift Funeral Home, with the Rev. Joe Sparks officiating.
Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
Tammy Smithey Crain
STAR CITY -- Tammy Smithey Crain, 35, of Star City died Saturday, Aug. 27, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.
She was an insurance agent for AFLAC.
Survivors include her husband, Steven Crain of Star City; a son, Ashton Heard of Star City and Marion; her parents, Jackie Smithey of Joiner and J.B. Smithey of Osceola; two sisters, Dottie Schaffer of Memphis and Connie Simpson of Navarea, Fla.; and two brothers, Gary Smithey and Danny Smithey, both of Osceola.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home of West Memphis, with Tom Bolby officiating. Burial will be in Bassett Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Ronnie Jones, Gene Heard, Bobby Byrd, Lance Cissell, Eddie Fox and Chuck Talley.
Honorary pallbearers will include Richard Crawford, Jimmy Franks and Greg Merritt.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Betty Jo Davis
JONESBORO -- Betty Jo Davis, 77, of Jonesboro died Saturday, Aug. 27, at NEA Medical Center in Jonesboro.
Born at Clinton, she was formerly of Walnut Ridge before moving to Jonesboro in 1970. She was a homemaker and a member of Southwest Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sisters, Willa Dean Martin of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Azalea Goddard of California.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis L. Davis; her parents, Charley and Nancy Shannon Anderson; a brother; and a sister.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Oak Ridge Cemetery
in Kennett, Mo., under the direction of Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. today at the funeral home.
John Duane Duncan
GREENBRIER -- John Duane Duncan, 63, of Greenbrier, formerly of Wynne, died Saturday, Aug. 27, at his residence.
He was a retired construction superintendent and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Conway.
Survivors include his wife, Theresa Hess Duncan of the home; five sons, Jeff Duncan of San Antonio, Jack Duncan of Magnella, Texas, Joe Duncan of Greenbrier, and Miguel Duncan and Johnny Duncan, both of the home; six daughters, Diane Balding of Conway, Georgette Smith of Vilonia, Shonda Duncan of Conway, Sharah Campbell of Greenbrier, Donna Moore of Mount Pleasant, Mo., and Brandi Duncan of Conway; two brothers, Allen Duncan of McKinney, Texas, and Joe Duncan of Jonesboro; a sister, Carolyn McFadden of Wynne; 25 grandchildren; and numerous foster children.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jill Duncan Wilson; his parents, Nelton and Myrtle Palmer Duncan; and his grandparents.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter's Catholic Church of Wynne. Burial will be in Crosslawn Cemetery
at Wynne. Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home of Wynne is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Brian Fields, Mickey Hatfield, Joseph Judd, Jim Roberts, Andy Smith, Michael Todd, Mike Vickstrom and Chris Whitbey.
Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. today at St. Joseph Catholic Church of Conway and from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
