Maturah J. Bonnie Hassler, 74, of Fort Smith died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, in Fort Smith. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and the church’s Presentation Circle, and was a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell.
Rosary will be 6:30 p.m. Monday at Fentress Mortuary Chapel in Fort Smith.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Christ the King Catholic Church with burial at Roselawn cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Joe; and a son, Steven Hassler of Indianapolis.
Pallbearers will be Mike Hassler, Keith Larkin, Jacob and B.J. Huffstetler, Bob Shultz, Frank Hug, George Sloan and Bill Tucker.

Wendell Waid
NORTH LITTLE ROCK — Wendell Ray Waid, 64, of North Little Rock died Friday, Dec. 31, 2004. He was born April 13, 1940, in Chickalah.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cornwell Funeral Home Chapel in Dardanelle with burial at Brearley cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Anita; his mother, Vorene Waid of Dardanelle; two sons, Tommy Waid of North Little Rock and Allen Waid of Mount Vernon; two sisters, Betty Warlick of Oklahoma and Linda Jennen of Fort Smith; and four grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Frances Margeritte Pryor Becker
Frances Margeritte Pryor Becker “Granny Becker” departed this life on Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, at Crawford Healthcare and Rehab, where she had been a resident 71/2 years. Mrs. Becker was born July 17, 1910, in Johnson County. She spent her entire life 94 years in Arkansas, either in Johnson or Crawford counties. She worked as an LPN for many years in Clarksville, both at the hospital and in private practice.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Tony Becker; her parents, Lester and Tina Lamb Pryor; and three sisters, Evelyn Curtis, Beulah Northcutt and Eula Jordan.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Grace and Paul McAllister of Mountainburg; four grandsons, Ron Folsom and Jeff Folsom of Van Buren, Joe Folsom of Bella Vista and Mark Folsom of Barling; six great-grandchildren, Kevin Folsom, Amber Folsom, Joey Folsom, Emily Grace Folsom, Tanner Folsom and Wyatt Folsom; four nieces and two nephews.
“Granny Becker” was loved by all who knew her. She had the most beautiful yard for many years in Van Buren, and was a brilliant seamstress.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. today at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Ron, Joe, Jeff and Mark Folsom, great-grandson, Kevin Folsom and Brian Wylie.

Helen Parker
VIAN — Helen Louise Parker, 100, of Vian died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, in Vian. She was born Oct. 18, 1904, in Saranac Lake, N.Y.
Funeral will be held in Ecuador with burial of ashes. Local arrangements under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
She is survived by two daughters, Susan Garcia of Quito, Ecuador, and Elsa Eberline of Mesa, Ariz.; two sons, Albert Del La Plata of Vian and David De La Plata of San Antonio; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to John Marquez Golf Tournament, 801 S. A St., Fort Smith, AR 72901.

Theresa Friend
LITTLE ROCK — Theresa Renee Rushing Friend, 45, of Little Rock died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, in Little Rock. She was born Sept. 4, 1959, in Grand Prairie, Texas. She was a member of the Army National Guard and of the Christian faith.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Wickes Pentecostal Church of God with burial at Arkansas Veteran’s cemetery in North Little Rock under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
She is survived by a daughter, Bethany Lacy of Nashville; a son, John Bagley of Gillham; her mother, Laverne Waller of Grannis; two sisters, Fonda Everhart of Euless, Texas, and Karen Wall of Fort Smith; a brother, Arland Rushing of Alma; and four grandchildren.

Nola Wood
BONANZA — Nola Pauline Wood, 79, of Bonanza died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004, in her home. She was born Dec. 10, 1925, in Bakersfield, Mo. She was a homemaker and the widow of W.H. Wood.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. today at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel in Shawnee, Okla., with burial at Tribbey cemetery in Tribbey, Okla.
She is survived by a son, Frank Flowers of Bonanza; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Frances Becker
Frances Margueritte Pryor Becker, 94, of Van Buren died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, in a local nursing home. She was born July 17, 1910, in Johnson County. She worked as a LPN in the hospital and private practice and was the widow of Toney Becker.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. today at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn cemetery in Van Buren.

Michael Brennan Sr.
Michael Patrick Brennan Sr., 67, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, in his home. He was an iron worker and of the Catholic faith.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. today at Putman Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith.
He is survived by two daughters, Ann Muto of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Arlene Rebelowski of Seattle; a son, Michael Brennan Jr. of Fort Smith; a sister, Peggy Gehn of Jacksonville, Fla.; a brother, Charlie Brennan of Jacksonville, Fla.; and three grandchildren.

George Huber
SUBIACO — George Joseph Huber, 75, of Subiaco died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, in Paris. He was a farmer, a member of Cattlemen’s Association and the widower of Helen Huber.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Roller Funeral Home in Paris with burial at Ellsworth cemetery in Subiaco.
He is survived by a daughter, Mary Smith of Russellville; three brothers, Bill, Gene and Leo Huber; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Tencleve, Allen Johnson, Ronnie Forst, Byron Essary, Ronnie Askins and Jr. Barker.
The family will visit with friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Melinda Haskins
Melinda Sue Haskins, 20, of Fort Smith, formerly of Keota, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, in Fort Smith.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Keota with burial at Keota City cemetery under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home of Stigler.
She is survived by her parents, Earl and Mariyn Haskins of Keota; and a brother, Earl Haskins Jr. of Keota.

Hazel Martin
Hazel Lou Martin, 80, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, in Fort Smith. She was a homemaker and a member of Spradling Baptist Church in Fort Smith.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Spradling Baptist Church in Fort Smith with burial at Barling City cemetery under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Bernard; two daughters, Geraldine Falleur of Muldrow and Susan Gilstrap of Fort Smith; three sons, William and David Martin, both of Greenwood, and Jack Martin of Fort Smith; a sister, Erma Johnson of Fort Smith; two brothers, W.T. Johnson of Van Buren and Bobby Johnson of Fort Smith; 20 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Joe, Mark and Keith Falleur, Brunchel, Brett and Richard Gilstrap.
The family will visit with friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

MENA — Cora Helen Joplin, 90, of Mena died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004, in Mena. She was born July 22, 1914, in Hatfield. She was a homemaker, a member of Hatfield Methodist Church and a 20-year volunteer at Sunlight Center in Mena. She was the widow of Louis Joplin.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Hatfield Methodist Church with burial at Six-Mile cemetery in Hatfield under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
She is survived by a daughter, Jane Surratt of Hatfield; a sister, Lucille McElroy of Midwest City, Okla.; a brother, Doyle Morrison of Hatfield; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Laura Thomas
HAVANA — Laura Ann Thomas, 19, of Havana died Friday, Nov. 12, 2004, in Havana. She was a graduate of Western Yell County High School, a freshman at Arkansas Tech University and a member of First Baptist Church in Magazine.
Funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Western Yell County High School gym with burial at Moores Chapel cemetery in Waveland under the direction of Cornwell Funeral Home of Danville.
She is survived by her parents, Chris and Shelia Thomas of Havana; a brother, Tim Thomas of Havana; and grandparents, Leroy and Janet Thomas of Magazine.
Pallbearers will be Tim Thomas, Ben Jensen, Jordan Apple, Brian Ladmirault, Harvey and Victor Love.
The body may be viewed from 6 to 8 p.m. today.

Ruth Deaver
CLYDE, Texas — Ruth Deaver, 67, of Clyde, Texas, formerly of San Saba, Texas, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004, in her home. She was born May 20, 1937, in Mulberry. She was a member of the Baptist Church and the widow of Bruce Scarborough and Clifton Deaver.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Howell-Doran Funeral Home Chapel in San Saba with burial at San Saba City cemetery.
She is survived by three daughters, Debra Coronado of San Saba, Texas, Ollie Stapp of Morgan, Texas, and Leslie Harrison of Clyde, Texas; two sons, Jerry Scarborough of San Saba and Bruce Scarborough of Lampasas, Texas; stepchildren, Peggy Smith, Jerry and John Deaver; five sisters, Linda Nelson of Keota, Okla., Minnie Willmon of Mulberry, Izora Dillard of Broken Arrow, Okla., Martha Holt of Stigler, Okla., and Nora Cantrell of Muldrow; two brothers, Kirksey Davis of Keota and William Davis of Mulberry; and eight grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Duncan, Ralph Coronado, Rudy Rojas, Billy Harrison, Chris Stapp, Bruce Scarborough Jr., Russell Moody and Abel Paredez.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Donald Humrich
HOT SPRINGS — Donald Duane Humrich, 82, of Hot Springs, formerly of Mena, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2004, in his home. He was born Aug. 9, 1922, in Bethoone, Colo. He was a carpenter, was of the Baptist faith and the widower of Margaret Humrich.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. today at Beasley-Wood Funeral Home Chapel in Mena with burial at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
He is survived by a sister, Bonnie Standridge of Mena.
Pallbearers will be Travis Davis, William Fryar, Frank Fulps, Steven Hogan, Jim Jorden and Jonathon Voelkel.
