Pierce, E.M., Pine Bluff, Jan 4 - E. M. Pierce, aged 59 died this morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. R. A. Williams on West Sixth avenue from a short illness. Mr. Pierce has been a resident of Jefferson county practically all his life and moved here five months ago to make his home with his daughter. He is survived by his wife and three daughters. Mrs. R. A. Williams, Mrs. Amos Johnson, Mrs. Charles Cearley, all of this city; two brothers, Foster Pierce of Carthage and Charlie Pierce of Watson Chapel and eight grandchildren.

Piercey, C.R., Mrs. C. R. Piercey, aged 28, died at 10 last night at the family residence, 1119 Louisiana street. She is survived by her mother, three brothers and four sisters, all of Conway. The body will be sent to Conway this morning by Healey & Roth for burial.

Pinchback, Frank S., Walnut Ridge, April 10 - Frank S. Pinchback, 66, justice of the peace and Confederate veteran, died suddenly at his home in Richwoods, Lawrence county, this morning of paralysis of the heart. Mr. Pinchback was a familiar figure at all the Confederate reunions, as he never missed attending one. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias, Masons, Woodmen and Odd Fellows.

Pinckney, M.W., New was received here yesterday of the death Saturday night at Muskogee, Okla., of M.W. Pinckney, aged 84, a former resident of Little Rock. He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. J.H.. Hinds of Muskogee and Mrs. W.N. Stanley of Oxford, Mich., and two sons, DeWitt C. Pinckney of Fort Smith and H.B. Pinckney, 1417 Chester street, Little Rock. Funeral services weill be held Tuesday at Fort Smith.

She is survived by her husband, a son, Edgar Ansel Pittman; a daughter, Mary Blanche Pittman, all of Little Rock; her mother, Mrs. W. A. Stroud of Dixie, La; a brother, A. M. Stroud of Dixie, and two sisters, Mrs. Webb Brame of Yazoo, Miss, and Miss Blanche stroud of Dixie. The body will be sent to Shreveport, La. this morning by P H Ruebel & Co.

Plackard, Mary, Kensett, April 24 - Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Plackard, 63, widow of O. P. Plackard, were held here yesterday. She was a member of one of the oldest families in Kensett. In addition to her three children, she is survived by her brother, J. F. Snyder of Little Rock.

E. Sr., William E. Poe Sr, Aged 77 Died suddenly at 11:10 a.m. yesterday (12/21/29) While hunting squirrels 18 miles southeast of Benton. He had made his home at Benton for the past two years but for many years previous he had been a resident of Little Rock

His death was said to have bee due to heart disease. Alford Cobb of Benton was with him at the time

Mr. Poe is survived by his wife, four daughters, Mrs J W Walton of Benton, Mrs Harry W Browning and Mrs. W. C. Kramp of Little Rok and Mrs J. T. Cob of Park Hill; three sons W E Joe Jr, and Arthur Poe of Little Rock and W. O. ("Sonny") Poe Rural Route No 1 North Little Rock; two sisters, Mrs Almina Bennett of Benton and Mrs Della Wright of Chickasha, Okla, and two brothers, H. F. Poe of England and Joe Poe of Little Rock. He is also survived by his Aunt, Mrs Shreptle McCool of Benton who is 100 years old. Mr. Poe was born in Grant County July 21, 1852 and came to Little Rock in 1888. For many years he conducted a general merchantile business at Sixth and Center Streets. He was an honorary member Sheridan lodge. Mason. The body will be removed by Owens & Co to the home of Mrs. Kramp 1925 Wolfe Street at 1 this afternoon. Funeral arrangements have not been completed.

Pofahl, Frederick W., Frederick W. Pofahl, aged two, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Pofahl, 1900 Rice street, died yesterday morning at 11. He is survived by his parents, four sisters and two brothers. Funeral services will be conducted from the residence this afternoon at 3 by the Rev. Carl Tritach. Burial will be in St. Paul's cemetery.

Potter, E. H., Fayetteville, Jan 8 - E. R. Potter, aged 42, died here Friday morning. Mr. Potter was the federal and state game warden for this district, and had been manager of the local Western Union office for 10 years. His body was sent to Warrensburg, Mo., for burial. Mr. Potter is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Potter, and one daughter, Mary Spencer, aged 14.

Potter, James E., Piggott, Sept. 28 - News has been recieved here of the death of James Z. Potter, formerly of this city, youngest son of J.P. Potter, in Tueummearl, N.M. He was well known here, graduating from the local high school in 1911, afterward studying pharmacy in Chicago. He had been in New Mexico for the benefit of his health for more than a year, with the exception of a short trip home last spring.

Powell, E.C., E.C. Powell, aged 65, died at the family residence 803 Main street, North Little Rock, at 11 o'clock last night after a long illness. He is survived by his wife, one son, C.C., both of North Little Rock; three nieces, Mrs. Annie Baugh and Mrs. Lila Jackson, both of Des Arc, and Mrs. Lyda Lynch of Clarendon; also by a nephew, J.S. Thomas of Clarendon. The funeral cortege will leave the residence at 6 tomorrow morning and will proceed overland by autos to Hickory Plains where the funeral services will be held, with Interment in the family lot. Owens & Company have charge of the arrangements.

Powell, J.C., J. C. Powell, aged 80, of Memphis Tenn, died at a hosptal here at 4:30 p.m. yesterday. He is survived by his wife, a son, Roy J Powell of Memphis and two daughters, Mrs. J. M. Raymond of Jacksonville, Fla. and Mrs. Charles W. Anderson Jr. of Staunton, Tenn. The body is held at the P. H. Ruebel & Co. parlors.

Powell, Judge
R.H., Fort Smith, April 12 - Judge Richard H. Powell, former member of the Arkansas Supreme Court and for many years judge of the Third judicial circuit, died at his home here this morning. He observed his ninetieth birthday anniversary Sunday. Judge Powell suffered a physical breakdown about six months ago and since had been failing rapidly. He was born in Sussex county, Va., in 1859. He removed to Batesville, living there and at Melbourne until 1908, when he removed to Sebastian county.

Judge Powell was a member of the first Confederate legislature of Arkansas, serving as a member from Izard county. After that session adjourned he joined the Confederate army with the rank of captain. He was captured soon afterward by Union forces, and remained a prisoner on Johnson's Island until the close of the war. In 1865 he was appointed by Governor Murphy judge of the old Seventh judicial circuit. Two years later he was deposed by the so-called "carpetbag" government. In 1878 he was elected judge of the present Third judicial district circuit, and served continuously for 14 years or until 1892, when Governor Fishback appointed him associate justice of the Arkansas Supreme Court to succeed Judge W.E. Hemingway, resigned. Upon his retirement from the Supreme bench he was again elected judge of the Third judicial ciruit. He occupied that office for four years, retiring in 1900.

He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. John H. Woods of Melbourne, Mrs. R.E. Kennard of Fayetteville, Misses Ruth and Lucia Powell, who lived with their father, and two sons, Judge R.T. Powell of this city and Judge W.W. Powell of Antlers, Okla.

Powers, W. C., R.C. Powers, aged 45, alderman from the Eighth ward and member of the law firm of Carmichael, Brooks, Powers & Rector, died at 11:45 o'clock yesterday morning at the family residence, 3522 West Eleventh street, after a lingering illness.

Funeraal services probably will beld tomorrow or Sunday afternoon and burial will be in Oakland cemetery. Arrangements will be complete upon the arrival today of Lawrence L. Powers, a brother, and Miss Mary Powers, a sister, both of Kansas City, Mo.

Mr. Powers was born at Kirksville, Mo., He was reared at Prescott, Ark., where the family moved when he was a boy. He became a telegraph operator for the Iron Mountain and was promoted to the position of chief clerk and then to superintendent.

In 1906 he gave up railroad work to study law, attending the law department of the University of Arkansas. Soon after he graduated he became a member of the firm he was in at the time of his death.

Mr. Powers was considered one of the ablest members of the Little Rock City Council. He was serving his third term. The flag on the city hall will be lowered to half-mast today in respect to his memory.

Mr. Powers is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nora Powers; three sons, Richard C. Powers Jr., Nelson T. Powers and George Smoote Powers; a daughter, Elizabeth Powers, five brothers, K.T. Powers of Green River, Wyo., W. Arthur Powers, H.C. Powers of the Quartermaster's Corps, United State Army, stationed at Manila, Philippine Islands; Lawrence L. Powers of Kansas City and Fred Powers of Mound City, Mo.; two sisters, Mrs. W.W. Wallace of Ava., Mo., and Miss Mary Powers of Kansas City.

Mr. Powers was a member of the Little Rock and of the State Bar Associations, the Masonic Lodge, the Woodmen of the World and the Ancient Oder of United Workmen.

Funeral services for R.C.Powers, alderman from the Eighth ward, who died Thursday morning at the family residence, 3522 West Eleventh street will be held at 3 tomorrow afternoon at the residence. The Rev. W.R. Richardson, former pastor of the Asbury Methodist church, now of Arkadelphia may officiate. Mr. Powers was a member of Asbury M.E. church and was teacher of the Hightower Men's Bible Class. Pallbears will be selected today. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery.

Pratt, Joseph W., Mrs. Joseph W. Pratt, aged 22, of Joplin, Mo., died at 1:50 yesterday morning at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Benner, in the City park. Mrs. Pratt was visiting her parents. She is survived by her parents, her husband, J. W. Pratt of Joplin; six brothers, Ed, Andy, George, William, Henry and Frank of Little Rock; three sisters, Mrs. E. L. McCardell, Mrs. H. L. Hobbs and Marie Benner of Little Rock. Funeral services will be held at 10 this morning from St. Edward's cathedral. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery.

The pallbearers will be: Actice, Ed Counts, L. Miller, W. W. Wagner, Lindsey Roberts, Henry Topf and C. N. Buckalew; honorary, Henry Leimer, Gus Leimer, Joe Jung, C.Q. Evans, D. M. Pixley and Ed Wright.

Pratt, William, William Pratt, aged 65, formerly of Argenta, died suddenly Sunday at Memphis as the result of an attack of heart disease. Mr. Pratt was attacked while walking through Court Square, and died in the ambulance en route to the hospital. Roy Dutton of Argenta identified him as he was being placed in the ambulance. Mr. Pratt has a son in rushville, Ind., and a brother in Herron, Ill. He was a traveling salesman for the Mannonds & McDonald Company, auto dealers of Hopuinsville, Ky.

Price, Carroll A., The body of Carroll A. Price, aged 64, who died at the family residence, 1718 Gaines street, at 6:30 yesterday morning, was sent to Beebe yesterday afternoon by Healey & Roth. Mr. Price was born near Searcy, White county. He resided in Arkansas all his life. For years he was engaged in the wholesale lumber business. He is survived by his wife, one son, C. Arthur Price of Beebe, one daughter, Miss Viva Price, 1718 Gaines street, and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3 this afternoon at Beebe. The Rev. F. M. Wylie of Hot Springs will officiate.

Prichett, Maggie, The body of Mrs. Maggie Prichett, aged 38, who died at 10;10 A.M. yesterday at a local hospital, was sent yesterday afternoon by Healey & Roth to Perry, Ark. Mrs. Prichett was a native of Missouri, but for several years has lived at Perry. She is survived by her husband, Ben Prichett of Perry, two sons and one daughter, one sister and four brothers. She was a member of the Women's Circle, W.O.W., of Perry.

Pride, Isaac L., Searcy, May 26 - Isaac L. Pride, aged 86, died here early this morning. Mr. Pride was born in Cherokee, Ala and came to Arkansas when 16 years old. He located in Monroe county, where he owned large farming interests, and was married in 1870 to Miss Kittie Trice. He is survived by his wife, four children, Pinson D. Pride of Pine Bluff, Mrs. J. H. McDowell of Chicago, Miss Katie Belle Pride of Searcy and Mrs. Henry Bethel of Des Arc; one brother, Good E. Pride of Cherokee, Ala.; two sisters, Mrs. Tompkins of Tuscumea, Ala., and Mrs. R. P. Ford of San Antonio, Tex. Mr. Pride was a Confederate soldier, serving in the First Arkansas regiment as captain of the commissary department. He came to Searcy in 1890. The funeral services will occur tomorrow afternoon, conducted by the Rev. W. T. Thompson and the Rev. J.H. Dye.

Priest, Capt. T.F., Texarkana, Oct. 3 - Capt. T.F. Priest, aged 69, well known cotton planter of this section, died suddenly of apoplexy on his Red River plantation, 10 miles north of here today. He had lived in Texarkana for 25 years. He is survived by his wife and two married daughters, also by one brother, Judge Henry S. Priest, of St. Louis.

Prince, P.H., Conway, Jan 27 - Mrs. Mattie Hoss Prince, aged 66, wife of Judge P. H. Prince, and sister of the late Bishop E. E. Hoss of the Southern Methodist church, and a well known resident of Conway for nearly a half century, died at the family home on South Davis street last night. Mrs. Prince was born at Jonesboro, Tenn, March 24 1855, and came with her husband to Conway 44 years ago, shortly after their marriage. With the exception of a short interval during which they resided in northwest Arkansas and Texas, the family's home has been in this city. She is survived by her husband and two children. William H. Prince and Mrs. Anna Prince-Pittman of Conway, and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the family residence at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon. The services will be conducted by the Rev. C. M. Reves, pastor of the First Methodist church, and burial will be at Oak Grove cemetery.

Proctor, George, Russellville, June 29 - Mrs. George Proctor, wife of a well-known farmer, near Scottsville, ended her life by hanging herself with a well chain in a room at her home Tuesday. She had been in poor health for several years, and during the past year or two the family feared that her mind was weakening. An effort was made to keep some one near her at all times. A 12 year old daughter was left at home with the mother Tuesday while other members of the family were at work in the field. Sending her daughter for a bucket of water, she pried the chain loose from a gate and the daughter found her body swinging from a rafter.

Puckett, P.J., Batesville, July 28 - P. J. Puckett, one of the oldest residents of Izard county, died today at Newberg at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. W. Cone. He was an active member of the Masonic order.

Pugh, T.R., T. R. Pugh of Portland, aged 55, one of the most extensive cotton growers in the South, owner of several plantation in southeast Arkansas and Northeast Lousisana, died at his home at 6 o'clock yesterday morning, according to information received here. He is survived by his wife, three sons, Felix, Joe and Gus Pugh of Portland, and two daughters, Miss Marion Pugh of Portland and Mrs. Solon Humphreys of North Little Rock; Funeral services will be conducted this morning at 10:30 o'clock

Mr. Pugh was one of the most successful planters and financiers of southeast Arkansas. He owned several thousand acres in Arkansas and Louisiana and owned cotton seed oil mills at Portland and Wilmar where he converted his own cottonseed oil and byproducts. He also owned several cotton gins in the two states.

Pumphreys, Elizabeth, Word has been receive in the city of the death of Mrs. Elizabeth Pumphreys, mother of Mrs. Carl Kognoski, 304 Olive street, who died at her home in Stellville, Mo., last Tuesday. She was 79 years old. Besides her daughter in Argenta, Mrs. Pumphreys is survived by another daughter, Mrs. W. G. hopkins of Beebe, and two sons, both of St. Louis. Burial took place Tuesday at Stellville.

Claire, John Claire Pyle, aged 23, 1312 Rock Street, died at a hospital here at 3:50 p.m. yesterday. He is survived by his wife; his mother, Mrs. W V Pyle, both of Little Rock; two brothers, Ralph of Little Rock and Hari Pyle of Fort Worth, Tex, and two sisters, Mrs. Nella Sullivan of Gary, Ind., and Mrs. Maude Gartsee of Des Moins, Ia. The body is held at the Healey & Roth parlors.

Quinn, William R., William Richard Quinn, 57 years old died at his hime, 2020 Main street, at 4:30 yesterday afternoon following a short illness of heart trouble. He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. William Sale Miller, and a grandson, Billy Quinn Miller, 112 West Twenty-firt street; a brother, Dan Quinn, county clerk of Pulaski county, and a sister, Miss Lizzie A Quinn, 2020 Main street.

Although he had never been in public life, Mr. Quinn was widely known in Little Rock and wielded much influence in civic affairs. He was born in Barnwell county, N.C., February 7, 1859, and came to Little Rock in the early 80s, entering the mercantile business with his brothers, Joe P and John A. Quinn, at Main and Markham streets, on the location now occupied by the Hotel Main.

For the past 26 years, Mr. Quinn had been connected with the advetising department of the Gus Blass Dry Goods Company, and at the time of his death was head of the department. He was a charter member of the Quapaw Club.

Funeral services will be held from St. Andrew's cathedral at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon and burial will be in Calvary cemetery.

Funeral services for William Richard Quinn, 57 years old, who died at 4:30 Thursday afternoon at the family residence, 2020 Main street, will be held at St. Andrew's cathedral, Seventh and Louisiana streets, at 3 this afternoon. The pallbearers will be: A. B. Poe, J. S. Maloney, Ike Kempner, John Dinocchio, W. H. Walker, R.E. Pearson, R.G. Pillow and P.F. Ring. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery.

Porter, W. C., Hope, June 10 - William Cicero Porter, aged 73, a Confederate veteran, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. James Field, here this afternoon, after an illness of several years. The funeral will be held here tomorrow afternoon. He is survived by his wife and several children, including Q. L. Porter of Little Rock, president of the Joppa Mattress Company; W. C. Porter Jr. of Little Rock, Joe Porter of Atlanta, Ga., and Mrs. Field of Hope.

Potite, T.J., Pine Bluff, April 20 - T.J. Potite, 74, who had lived near this city the last 30 years, died at his home yesterday. He is survived by his widow and five sons, Robert, John, Frank and Charles Potite of Jefferson county, and James Potite of Heber Springs.
