Melvin Valery Keith Carrico

Melvin Valery Keith Carrico, 72, of Garfield died Friday, March 31, 2017 at Circle of Life Hospice House in Bentonville. He was born August 21, 1944 in California.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, outdoors, and woodworking. He was a craftsman and a carpenter. He had lived in the Northwest Arkansas area for 2 years after moving from Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Melvin is survived by his wife; Juanita Carrico, of Nevada, two daughters; Buffy Oyler and her husband Lawrence, of Garfield, Michelle Mendoza and her husband Jamison, of Gateway, one sister; Sharon Farlee, of Arizona, 11 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Melvin’s life will be announced at a later date by the family.

John Thomas Whitten

John Thomas Whitten, of Rogers died peacefully Wednesday, March 29, in the presence of family at the age of 72. He was born March 10, 1945 in McCaskill to Newburn and Louise (Bowers) Whitten. John was a graduate of the University of Arkansas and lived and worked as a CPA in Hope for many years.

John was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Evelyn Whitten, Jimmy Whitten, Katherine Chandler, Ernest Whitten, and William Whitten.

Survivors include his daughter, Karen Langston (Jay) of Fayetteville, son, Mike Whitten (Denise) of Oklahoma; and daughter Jennifer Whitten of Little Rock; brother, Doyle Whitten of Missouri; sisters: Dorothy Walthall of Texas, Betty Sue Hernandez (Paul) of Texas, and Mary Jane Jennings of Louisiana and many nieces and nephews that will greatly miss their "Uncle Johnny." He was known by some as "Slick", by some as the author of Leroy stories.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, April 1 at 1:00pm at Anderson Cemetery in Spring Hill.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to POTS research at dysautonomiainternational.org.

Sheryl DeLynn LaFluer

Sheryl DeLynn LaFluer, 64, of Fayetteville died at her home March 29th, 2017. She was born January 22, 1954 the daughter of Frances Beets and Pat Patterson.

She was preceded in death by her father and sister, Tammy Martin.

Sheryl is survived by daughters; Sabra Pretat and Chelsea Long, grandchildren; Hagan Blount, Aspyn Blount, Brayden Pretat, and Roman Walton.

Ancel Lee Turner

Ancel Lee Turner, 63, of Springdale, Arkansas died Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale. He was born October 27, 1953 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

He served in the US Army. He was a roofer for many years.

He is survived by many loving relatives, including his four children; Regina Turner-Wenzlaff, of Indiana, Andrea Foren Rennie, of Arkansas, Ancel Turner Jr., of Arkansas, and Tiffany Gilliland, of Texas, four grandchildren; Jonathon Turner, Zachary Morris, Madison Vinson, and Sadie-Ann Gregory, four great-grandchildren; Janyia Dale, Jonathon Turner Jr., Julion Turner, and Jermaine Turner, two siblings; Joyce Watts, of South Carolina, Beverly Turner-Achkinazi, several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

There will be a visitation Tuesday, March 28, 2017 from 6-8pm at Epting Funeral Home Bentonville.

Graveside service will be Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at 10am at National Cemetery located in Fayetteville.

Benjamin “Frank” Franklin Owings

Benjamin “Frank” Franklin Owings, 80, of Bella Vista died Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Circle of Life in Bentonville. He was born April 10, 1936 in Alden, Iowa the son of Lula and Newton Owings.

Frank was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Bentonville, a Boy Scout Leader, band booster member, and a licensed realtor. He loved camping and was a member of many campers clubs.

Frank is survived by his wife of 61 years, Shirley Owings of Bella Vista, two sons; Mike Owings and his wife, Melissa, of Fayetteville, Mark Owings of Centerton, two daughters; Judy Dunegan and her husband, Mitch, of Lawton, Oklahoma, Jane Birmingham and her husband, Jeff, of Centerton, one brother; Richard Owings of Iowa, two grandchildren; Joey Hammer, Kimberly Hammer, one great-grandchild; Scarlett Jones, and many close friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A private family service will be at a later date.

Julian P. Pickart

Julian P. Pickart, 87, of Bella Vista, Arkansas, formerly of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Friday, March 17, 2017. He was born on May 4, 1929 in Norway, Iowa to Clemons(Jeff) and Edna(Story) Pickart.

Julian served in the U.S. Navy as a petty officer. He attended the University of Iowa for two years and then worked at Transport Trailers in Cedar Rapids and McComb, MS for 43 years as a purchasing agent, plant manager and sales manager.

Julian married Jane Wodstrchill in 1954 and raised their 3 children in Cedar Rapids and Blairstown, IA. Jane passed away in 1983. Julian married Byrdine Siek in 2007. They moved to Bella Vista in 2003.

Julian was an avid sports fan. He played basketball and baseball in his youth and he was always proud to be a Norway Tiger. He followed the Yankees, Cubs, Hawkeyes, Razorbacks and loved college sports. He was always ready for a party and family gathering, which also meant sitting down to a 6-handed Euchre game. Julian and Byrdine traveled the world but loved taking the back roads, enjoying America and the National Parks. He was a kind and loving husband and father.

Julian is survived by his wife, Byrdine of Bella Vista, one son, Jeffery(Nelly)Pickart of Monterrey, Mexico, two daughters, Julie(Robert)Kettler of Fulton, Illinois, and Jacqueline(Kent)Fowlkes of Cedar Rapids, one step-daughter, Bobbi Siek of California, and one step-son, William Siek of Iowa, one brother, Stanley(Louise)Pickart of Massachusetts, four grandchildren, six step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Jane, three brothers and one sister.

A memorial service will be held at a later time in Blairstown, Iowa.

Memorials can be made to St. Bernards Catholic Church in Bella Vista, Circle of Life Hospice House, Bentonville, AR, or a charity of the donor's choice.

Daniel White

Daniel White, 57, of Rogers died March 15th.

He served in the US Navy.

Survivors: his father: Darwin White, of Rogers, one brother; Tim White, of Nebraska, and two nephews; Max and Dalton.

Memorial visitation will be Friday from 12:30 until 2pm at Epting Funeral Home Bentonville.

Sarah Louise Keenan

Sarah Louise Keenan, 37, of Eagle River, Alaska formerly of Rogers, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, March 9, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born 15 Nov 1979 in Santa Barbara, California. She is the daughter of Steve and Nancy Shaw.

She enjoyed: Traveling, spending with her family, singing praise music to her heavenly Father, and making memories with those she loved.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents.

Sarah is survived by: her husband; James Keenan, her high school sweet heart, whom she married 26 June 1999. She is also survived by her children Lauren, Zachary, Brianna, and Katelyn. She had two brothers Matthew and Ryan Shaw as well as her parents; Steve and Nancy Shaw, of Rogers, AR.

A celebration of Sarah’s life will be: Saturday, March 25th at 11AM Rogers First Baptist Church.
