Robert W. Amacker

Robert W. Amacker, age 104, went to his heavenly home Saturday, February 25. He was born 12-17-1912, in Popularville, Mississippi. He and his second wife, Agnes Amacker, of 62 years, traveled throughout the United States in their airstream trailer after he retired from twenty-five years in the United States Marine Corp. As a Marine, he was stationed in Bolivia, South America guarding the United States Embassy. His rank was Chief Warrant Officer 2. Today he was considered to be the oldest living United State Marine.

Preceding him in death are his parents Jim and Laura Amacker and his siblings Lester Amacker, Merjel Hartzog and Margie Amacker Lyons, and his wife, Agnes. Surviving are his niece Charlene Gates Phillips, Harrison, Ar., and great nephew Charlie Chambers, Colorado, a son from his first marriage, Harley Amacker and grandson, Robert Amacker, of California.

After the death of his wife, Agnes, in 2004, Amacker was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease, and has lived with his niece, Charlene Gates-Phillips in Florida and Arkansas.

Members of the Marine Corp will participate in a military memorial service at 6:00pm on May 15th at Kings Hill Pioneer Church, 63 Kings Hill, Berryville, AR.

Jim and Charlene Phillips would like to thank all of the caregivers who helped with Uncle Robert's care in their home in Harrison, and the congregants of El Shaddai Ministries for all of their love and support, and the loving staff at Bradford House Nursing and Rehabilitation (Bentonville), and House of Three, ( Rogers). The family extends a special thanks to Sandy Warmack, who sacrificed her time to monitor “Uncle Robert” while they were performing missionary work overseas. . “As you know he was a wonderful Uncle, full of love, always with a smile and a "thank you".

Michael “Mike” Hugh Rawlins

Michael “Mike” Hugh Rawlins, 70, of Fayetteville died Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at his residence. He was born April 23, 1946 in Berryville, Arkansas the son of Betty Jean Worley Rawlins and Hugh Rawlins.

Mike was a Razorback fan who enjoyed fishing and was known for his sense of humor. He also worked as master electrician at Gates Rubber Plant in Siloam Springs for 25 plus years retiring in April, 2016.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son; Robert Michael Rawlins.

Mike is survived by his wife of 49 years, Michelle “Mickie” Rawlins, of the home, two sons; Terry Rawlins of Fayetteville, Daniel Rawlins of Fayetteville, two sisters; Kristin Hamilton and her husband, Randal, Kathy Lane and her husband Mike, two nephews; Jeff Clemence, Matt Rawlins, niece; Calley Mann, Amanda (Jill) Clemence seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a host of cousins and friends.

Memorials in Mike’s name can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Washington County Animal Shelter.

William “Hayden” Myers Jr.

William “Hayden” Myers Jr., 83, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at Chapel Ridge Nursing Home located in Fort Smith. He was born February 4, 1934 in West Fork the son of Dorothea Louise Malone and William Hayden Myers Sr.

Hayden had lived in the Northwest Arkansas area for over 30 years after moving from California. He was a graduate of West Fork High School.

He loved playing the piano and was a musician for many years. He played with the likes of Merle Haggard, The Buck Owens TV Show and Elvis. In his later years he played at various clubs all over Northwest Arkansas.

He served during the Korean Conflict as a Medic with the US Navy and later served in the US Marines, and finished up his service of 7 years with the US Air Force.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, two sons; Aaron Myers, Donald Myers, one sister; Kim Ivy, and one brother; Johnny Little.

Hayden is survived by: four sons; Craig Myers, Mark Myers, Michael Myers, Alan Myers, two daughters; Cheryl Stamps, Leanne Myers, two brothers; Raymond Bruce Myers and his wife Judy, of West Fork, Ron Myers and his wife Dee Dee, of Bella Vista, one sister; Shirley Louise Compton, of Washington, one step-daughter, Marian Henry, of Fort Smith and many grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be Saturday, March 4th at 11am at Mineral Springs Cemetery located in West Fork.

Imogene Bennett

Imogene Bennett, 105, of Bentonville died February 17th in Bentonville.

Preceded: parents, son, and husband.

Survivors: grandsons; Bryan Bennett (Robyn, ) of Bentonville, Greg Bennett, granddaughter; Nora Vallee, two step-grandsons including; Dean Bartlett (Jo, ) of Bentonville, 6 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, daughter-in-law; Brenda Hyslip, of Bentonville.

C.L. (Cliff) Schumacher

C.L. (Cliff) Schumacher, 88, passed away on February 15, 2017 at Circle of Life Hospice Home, Bentonville, AR after a short illness. Cliff was born on June 21, 1928 in Lyons, KS. He served on various community boards, the Great Bend City Council and retired as president of Colonial Savings and Loan. He and his wife Patsy (Burt) Schumacher moved to Bella Vista, AR where they enjoyed playing golf, traveling and spending winters at their desert home in Borrego Springs, CA.

Cliff was an avid golfer (five holes in one), aviation enthusiast and he had a fondness for animals. He was a graduate of Kansas State University where he was a left-handed catcher on the K-State baseball team. He also served in the United States Air Force.

Survivors include his wife, Patsy Schumacher, of Brookdale Assisted Living in Great Bend; two daughters, Lisa (Darrell) Bruns, Bemidji, MN and Karla Schumacher, Wichita, KS. Step family Cathy (Ed) Catt, Wichita, KS; Cliff (Kathy) Burt, Doug Burt and Charles (Susie) Burt, Great Bend, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ethel Schumacher; brother, George Schumacher, and his first wife LaVerna Huffman.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at the Mildred B. Cooper Memorial Chapel in Bella Vista, AR with Father William Lowry of St. Theodore’s Episcopal Church officiating.

Memorials are requested to the Bella Vista Animal Shelter Boarding Facility Fund, 32 Bella Vista Way, Bella Vista, AR 72714.

Deborah Denise Huntley

Deborah Denise Huntley, 58, of Springdale died Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at a local skilled care center.

She is survived by: her father; Austin Roberts and his wife Diane, of Springdale, one son, one daughter, and one half-brother; Eric of Springdale.

Bonnie Jean Waddell

Bonnie Waddell, 68 of Van Buren, AR died February 14, 2017 in Ft. Smith. She was born December 12, 1948 to Bert and Ethel Lukins in Sacramento, CA.

Preceded by: parents, and husband Duke Waddell, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.

Survivors: son Danny Anderson, stepson Alex Waddell and family, 2 sisters Lesa Coffman; Myrtle Kitching, 1 Granddaughter Chanel, 2 nieces Aryan and Alexandra and a nephew Andrew.

Bonnie was dearly loved!!

William A. Guthridge

William A. Guthridge, 84, of Bentonville, died Monday, February 13, 2017 at his residence. He was born April 14, 1932 in Los Angeles, California the son of Harriet and Benjamin Guthridge.

He had lived in the Northwest Arkansas area for one year after moving from Mohave Valley, Arizona. He served in the US Navy for four years during the Korean War. He was an engineer for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

William is survived by: his wife of 63 years, Barbara Guthridge whom he married January 29, 1954, one son; Richard Guthridge and his wife Lynn, of Anaheim Hills, California, two daughters; Patty Lorton and her husband Chris, of Bentonville, Susan Guthridge, of Bentonville, one sister; Lucia Brooks and her husband Bert, of Upland, California, ten grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.

A celebration of William’s Life will be in Arizona and announced at a later date by the family.
