Ruby Kinder Benson
SWIFTON — Ruby Lee Kinder Benson, 79, of Swifton departed this life on Sunday, Nov. 21, 2010, at Jonesboro.
She was born June 22, 1931, at Swifton, the daughter of E.B. and Eula Jane Kinder.
Mrs. Benson was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, quilting and cooking for her friends and family. She was a member of the Murphy’s Chapel Assembly of God Church in Swifton.
Mrs. Benson was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Benson, on Jan. 19, 1985; two brothers, Carl and Ray Kinder; and four sisters, Lola Mae Kinder, Joyce Kinder, Alma Jean Benson and Lois Self.
She is survived by three sisters, Faye Keaster of Dierks, Pauline Calhoun and Aline Brewer, both of Swifton; one brother, Joe Kinder of Swifton; one brother-in-law, Jack Benson of Swifton; and one sister-in-law, Marilyn Kinder of Swifton.
Although she did not have children, she treated her twin nieces, Tronda Watkins of Jonesboro and Shawnda Nunn of Paragould, as if they were her own. She also leaves behind many friends and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Swifton First Assembly of God with Carl Neal and Floyd Porter officiating and interment in Swifton Cemetery.
Visitation will be this evening from 6-8.
Active pallbearers will be Kent Watkins, Andy Watkins, Rick Nunn, Rickey Benson, Tony Kinder and Tim Shelton.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Benson, Jim Daniels, Jim Rorex, Charles Kinder and Bobby Keller.
Memorials may be made to the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House, 1148 East Matthews Ave., Jonesboro 72401.
Arrangements are by Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home.
Donetta Cooksey
MARKED TREE — Donetta Cooksey, 57, of Marked Tree died Monday, Nov. 22, 2010, at her residence.
She was a homemaker and a member of Etowah Pentecostal Church of God. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Aileen Wheeler, and husband, Johnny Cooksey.
She is survived by her sons, Mitchell Long of Trumann and Jason Cooksey of Atlanta; a daughter, Pebbles Lucy of Dyess; a brother, Joe Wheeler of Dyess; and four sisters, Vicky Long and Carol Atkinson, both of Dyess, Patty Henderson of Wilson and Diana Jackson of Bono; and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 12-1:45 p.m. today at Murphy Funeral Home in Lepanto. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. in Nichols Cemetery.
Jacqueline Dennis
PARAGOULD — Ms. Jacqueline Dennis, 47, of Paragould died on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010, at Arkansas Methodist Hospital.
Ms. Dennis was born April 23, 1963, in Cooke County, Texas, to Price and Elizabeth Dennis. She was of the Baptist faith and of Cherokee and Seminole descent. Ms. Dennis was formerly of Florida and enjoyed her grandchildren, crossword puzzles and reading.
Survivors include her mother; two sons, John Dennis and Jahien Lesnefsky; and four daughters, Rose Dennis, Laura Dennis, Kelly Dennis and Carmela Lesnefsky, all of Florida; four sisters, Rose Ward, Tina Chester, Clara Dennis and Patricia Waldron, all of South Carolina; eight grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
Ms. Dennis was preceded in death by her father; two brothers, Ira Powledge and Hubert Powledge Jr.; one sister, Debra Freeman; and one grandson, Jose Medina.
Family requests private service and disposition with Faith Funeral Service of Manila in charge of arrangements.
Charlotte Geedey
MANILA — Charlotte Geedey, age 76, of Manila died Monday at the Manila Nursing Center.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Howard Funeral Service of Manila.
Gertha Hamilton
MANILA — Gertha Inez Hamilton, 80, of Manila, widow of Jack Hamilton, died Sunday, Nov. 21, 2010, at the St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.
Born at Cash, she was the daughter of the late Orville and Lorene Baxley Bryan and was a 1949 graduate of Leachville High School. In 1969 she and her family moved to Mississippi, and in 1999 she returned to Manila.
In addition to her pa rents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Howard Bryan.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry Hamilton of Sheridan and Jimmy Hamilton of Winona, Miss.; one daughter, Betty McDaniel of Manila; one brother, Phillip Bryan of Newark; five sisters, Delora Mae Roberts of Jonesboro, Ann Cornelison of Hot Springs Village, Melba Barnes of Hot Springs Village, Cindy Crawford of Leachville and Betty Sharon Eish of Highland. She also leaves seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Westside Baptist Church in Manila with the Revs. Andy Andros and DeWayne Cornelison officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery
at Walcott under the direction of Howard Funeral Service of Manila.
The family will receive visitors this evening from 6-8 at the funeral home.
Eugene Hilton
POCAHONTAS — Eugene Hilton, 93, of Pocahontas died Sunday, Nov. 21, 2010, at his home.
Eugene was born at Kansas City, Mo., on Oct. 12, 1917.
Visitation will be tonight from 6-8 at Cox Funeral Home. Burial will be in Kohlerlawn Cemetery
at Nampa, Idaho, at a later date.
Mr. Hilton is survived by his wife, Jane, and three children, Jerry Hilton, Diane Paynter and Debbie Beckley, all of Nampa.
Mr. Hilton was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Denzel Smith.
Helen Holifield
PIGGOTT — Helen Holi-field, 87, of Piggott passed away Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010, at the Piggott Community Hospital.
Survivors include her daughters, Carolyn Edwards and husband Deloyd of Pollard, and Sharon Wright and husband Eldon of Wappapello, Mo.; two brothers, Billy Vancil of Sullivan, Mo., and Joe Vancil of Davison, Mich.; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Piggott with Frank Burgess officiating. Burial will be in Cummins Chapel Cemetery.
Betty Lou Hyatt
POCAHONTAS — Aunt Betty Lou Hyatt, 86, passed away Monday, Nov. 22, 2010, at St. Bernards Medical Center.
She was born June 10, 1924, at Gatewood, Mo., to the late Jesse and Rosa Hyde.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jay and Jackie Hyde, and three sisters, Mildred Miller, Florence Miller and Jessie Bennett.
She is survived by her brother, Gaston Hyde of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; three sisters, Edna Sorrell of Newton, Kan., Glenna Hastings of Mathis, Texas, and Rowena Cota of Illinois; 36 nieces and nephews; many great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hyatt was a Walgreens manager in Chicago, retiring after 30 years.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in McNabb Funeral Home chapel with Stan Rogers and George Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Myrtle Cemetery
at Myrtle, Mo.
Visitation will be held tonight from 6-8.
Charles Junior Grant
JONESBORO — Charles Junior Grant, age 55, of the Shady Grove Community, Tenn., died Sunday, Nov. 21, 2010, at his residence.
Mr. Grant was a native of Randolph County and son of Jessie Charles Grant of Maynard and the late Maudie Jewel Bell Grant. He was a minister with the New Life Assembly of God in Centerville, Tenn.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Debbie Jean Grissom of the Shady Grove community; son, Shaun Grant of Lewisburg; daughter, Donna Jean Alexander of Savannah; brother, Irvin Ernest “Ernie” Grant of Pocahontas; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday from the Lewisburg, Tenn., First Assembly of God, 1191 West Ellington Parkway, with burial to follow.
The family will be at the First Assembly of God 4-8 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. until funeral hour, 1 p.m. Wednesday, for visitation.

Brenda Lindsey
MANILA — Brenda Joyce Lindsey, age 60, of Manila died Monday at her home.
Born at Manila, she was the daughter of the late Harlen Eugene and Margie Mae Stroud Keller and was a lifelong Manila resident. She was a member of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in Manila.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry Lindsey of Manila; three sons, Phillip Wayne Lindsey of Manila, Charles Ray Lindsey of Lake Providence, La., and Michael Dewayne Lindsey of Manila; one daughter, Barbara Renee Hill of Lake City; and one brother, Bud Keller of Manila; six sisters, Barbara Ann Ashwell of Tallulah, La., Glenda Newcomb of Fulton, Miss., Mae Ella Stamey of Tallulah, La., Rachel Rose of Manila, Dorothy Owens of Manila and Charlene Morris of Dell. She also leaves six grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in Manila with the Rev. Rudy Burrow officiating. Burial will follow in Manila Cemetery
under the direction of Howard Funeral Service of Manila.
The family will receive visitors from 5-8 this evening at the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ.

BLYTHEVILLE — Mrs. Lettie Mae Link, 98, of Blytheville passed away Friday, Nov., 19 2010, at Searcy Healthcare Center.
She was preceded in death by her son, Charles Allen Haile.
She is survived by her daughter, Betty Sue Robertson of Searcy; grandsons, Tommy Walker of Blytheville, Wally, Kevin and David Jarrett of Searcy; great-grandchildren, Tracy Reynolds of Chesapeake, Va., and Zack Jarrett of Searcy; and great-great-grandchildren, Ashley and Emily Reynolds of Chesapeake.
Graveside services were Monday in Elmwood Cemetery
with Billy Holifield officiating.
