William Frederick Peterson Jr.

There will be no services held for William Frederick Peterson Jr., 70, of Fairfield. Interment with full military honors will also be private in Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.

Mr. Peterson died Sept. 30, 2000, in David Grant Medical Center at Travis Air Force Base after a long illness.

Born Nov. 3, 1929, in Bridgeport, Conn., he lived in Fairfield for 32 years. He served in the United States Army, 82nd Infantry, for two years. He then served in the United States Air Force for 18 years, retiring in 1973 as a staff sergeant. After retiring from the military, he worked at Mare Island Naval Shipyard in Vallejo as an engine mechanic for 11 years, retiring in 1984.

Mr. Peterson enjoyed boats, fishing, working on cars, and home repairs and renovation.

Mr. Peterson is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jim Peterson and Mazie Brewington of Suisun; granddaughters, Kristine of Phoenix, Ariz., and Jessica of Suisun. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mitsue in 1981.

Arrangements were handled by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Eula Phillips

A memorial service for Eula Phillips, 87, of Vacaville, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Community Presbyterian Church, 425 Hemlock St., Vacaville.

Pastor Tom Smith of Community Presbyterian Church will preside. Interment will be private.

Mrs. Phillips died Oct. 1, 2000, in Vacaville after a short illness.

Born Jan. 9, 1913, in Colton, she resided in Vacaville for more than 45 years. She taught elementary school students for more than 20 years. She and her husband of 63 years, Gerald, were Ruling Elders of the Community Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Vacaville Art League, the Saturday Club and the Delta Kappa Gamma Honorary Society for outstanding teachers.

Mrs. Phillips is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Barbara of Kauai; daughter and son-in-law, May and Bill of Vacaville; grandchildren, Michael Zeek of San Diego and Julie Kish of New Jersey; great-grandchildren, James Przybylowski and Cristen Zeek; sister-in-law, Jeanette of Texas and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday in McCune Garden Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Phillips' memory to the Organ Fund of the Community Presbyterian Church of Vacaville, 425 Hemlock St., Vacaville, 95688.

Roland W. 'Rolly' Steingass

A funeral for Roland W. (Rolly) Steingass, 65, of Fairfield, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

The Rev. Martin Bergstrom will officiate. Interment will be in Rockville Cemetery with full military honors.

Mr. Steingass died Oct. 1, 2000, in his home after a short illness.

Born Nov. 25, 1934, in Medina, Ohio, he lived in Fairfield for 37 years. He graduated from LaGrange High School in LaGrange, Ohio in 1952, entered the United States Air Force in 1955 and worked with flight simulators during his Air Force career.

When Mr. Steingass retired from the Air Force in 1975 with the rank of senior master sergeant, he was the superintendent of flight simulators at Travis Air Force Base. He worked for Bay Area Rapid Transit from 1976 to 1990 in the AFC Department. He was a member of SIRS, Br. 106, Cypress Lakes Golf Club, the NRA and the California Rifle Pistol National Association (CRPNA).

Mr. Steingass was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mary Ann of Fairfield; daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Hart Beebe of McArthur; son and daughter-in-law, Guy and Joyce of Walnut Creek; son, Gary and his fiancee, Kim Roberts of Suisun; son, John of Fairfield; grandchildren, Jake Massa of McArthur, Jason and Rachel of Walnut Creek, and Guy and Alan of Suisun.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. today in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Jerry Lee Ward

A memorial service for Jerry Lee Ward will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Fairfield Free Will Baptist Church. Pastor Samuel Hensley will officiate.

Mr. Ward died Sept. 26, 2000, at his home.

Born Feb. 14, 1939, in Hillery, Ill., Mr. Ward served in the United States Army and graduated from Utterback Brown Business College in Danville, Ill. He lived in Napa for several years before moving to Fairfield in 1993.

Mr. Ward was employed by Anderson & Associates, CPAs, for the last 22 years and will be greatly missed by co-workers and clients. He was a jazz music and sports enthusiast and an avid collector of stamps, coins and World War II airplane memorabilia.

Mr. Ward is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Arnold and Judy of Fairmont, Ill.; niece, Teresa Nielsen; nephew, Timothy; five great nephews of Chicago, Ill.; and several cousins.

Leoma V. Musgrave-Hill

A funeral for Leoma V. Musgrave-Hill, 81, of Fairfield will be 2 p.m. Friday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home. Pastor Mike McCarney will preside. A visitation will be at 1 p.m. Friday. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Lindsay-Strathmore Cemetery.

Born Oct. 5, 1918, in Cassville, Mo., Mrs. Musgrave-Hill died Sept. 30, 2000, in Napa after a long illness.

She worked as a sales clerk in several department stores, most notable at Hilsons Department Store in Martinez and Beenos Department Store in Reedley.

She enjoyed membership in the Trinity Baptist Church in Concord and First Baptist Church in Fairfield. She was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Reedley.

Mrs. Musgrave-Hill is survived by her husband, Eugene Hill of Napa; daughters, Betty Hanson of Fairfield and Carol Hamlin of Boise, Idaho; son, Steve Zimney of Virginia; sister, Lottie Mae Giesbrecht of Reedley; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Beeson and Sarah Beymer.

Memorial contributions can be sent to Northern California Transplant Bank, 2593 Kerner Blvd., San Rafael, CA 94901.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Alexander Saxton dela Cruz

A Catholic Prayer Service for Alexander Saxton dela Cruz, 35, of Vacaville will be 10 a.m. Friday at McCune Garden Chapel. The Rev. Benedict DeLeon will officiate. Disposition will be private. Visitation will be today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the chapel, with a rosary recital tonight at 7.

Mr. dela Cruz died Sept. 28, 2000, after a long illness.

Born Feb. 1, 1965, in Baguio City, Philippines, he lived in Vacaville for the past five years after having lived on Travis Air Force Base for 13 years. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1986 as a medical laboratory technician, serving at David Grant Medical Center on Travis Air Force Base until 1993.

After separating from the Air Force in 1993, he worked in Vacaville a laboratory technician for the Unilab Corporation. In 1995, he began employment with the Veterans' Administration as a laboratory technician, serving Travis and transferring to the Sacramento Medical Center at Mather Air Force Base in January 1999 until his passing.

Mr. dela Cruz was a member of the Asian Pacific Islanders Association. He loved basketball, fishing, camping, reading and music.

He is survived by his wife, Rinda of Travis; daughter, Aubrie of Travis; and son, Nick of Travis; parents, Roman and Elizabeth of San Pablo; brother and sister-in-law, Norman and Vivian of San Pablo; brothers, Daniel of San Pablo, Mark Arnel of San Francisco, Jeremy of San Pablo, and Kenneth of San Jose; sisters and brothers-in-law, Evelyn and Jeremiah Casayuran of Melbourne, Australia, Raquel and Willie Buen of Baguio City, Philippines, and Angelica and Gary Marzos of Baguio City.

Mr. dela Cruz also has 10 nieces and nephews and numerous friends.

Dorothy B. Lavoire

A service of remembrance for Dorothy B. Lavoire, 81, of Vacaville, will be 11 a.m. Friday at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Quincey. Inurnment will be private.

Born July 12, 1919, in Sherman, Mrs. Lavoire died Oct. 1, 2000, at the Vacaville Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center after a brief illness.

In her working years, she had been an electronics assembler employed for 10 years at Aerojet. She loved bowling and playing pinochle. She volunteered many hours in Quincey with the crisis line, Plumas District Hospital, Emblem Club, AARP and was most active at Our Savior Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Lavoire is survived by her daughters, Nola Shanks of Vacaville, Kathryn Marr of Greenville and Carol Rosa of Grants Pass, Ore.; son, Roger Edwards Lavoire Jr. of Big Bear; brother, Walter Scott Drummond Jr. of Long Beach; sister, Deanna Perillard of Huntington Beach; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions can be sent to Our Savior Lutheran Church in Quincey or to the donor's favorite charity.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Nadeau Family Funeral Home.

Edward Eugene Burkeen

Graveside services for Edward Eugene Burkeen, 71, of Vacaville, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Gustine. The Rev. Paul Fair will officiate.

Mr. Burkeen died Oct. 3, 2000, in VacaValley Hospital after a brief illness.

Born July 28, 1929, in Ralls, Texas, he resided in Vacaville for the past 34 years. In 1945, he began a military career that took him worldwide. He logged 10,000 hours in the air. It was his career as a flight engineer that brought him to Vacaville in 1966 with the 141 program. He enjoyed working on and around his home and was an avid golfer.

Mr. Burkeen is survived by his wife of 42 years, Jodee of Vacaville; son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Diane of San Jose; and granddaughters, Alicia and Claire of San Jose.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cerebral Palsey Foundation of San Francisco, 660 Market St., San Francisco.

Arrangements were handled by Nadeau Family Funeral Home.

Gertrude Iva Coffelt

A graveside service for Gertrude Iva Coffelt, 82, of Dixon will be 2 p.m. today at Silveyville Cemetery in Dixon. Pastor Wesley Nordman will officiate. Interment will follow.

Mrs. Coffelt died Oct. 3, 2000, in Vallejo.

Born June 29, 1918, in Kismet, Kan., she lived in Dixon for the past 44 years. She was a homemaker all her adult life.

Mrs. Coffelt served as past president of Dixon Senior Club and worked as a 'brown bag' program volunteer for many years. She enjoyed bingo and her family. She especially delighted in making Christmas candy for her family.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Billie of Arkansas, Jim and Donna of Woodland, Edward and Debbie of Dixon, and Jack and Debbie of Rio Linda; daughter, Donna of Georgia; and daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Herb Vogt of Davis. She also has numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the donor's favorite charity.

Thomas Mendiola

A memorial service for Thomas Mendiola, 33, of San Francisco will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Spirit Church. Father Phil Paraguya will preside. Inurnment will be in Guam.

Born Oct. 18, 1966, in Guam, Mr. Mendiola died Oct. 2, 2000, in San Francisco after a brief illness.

Mr. Mendiola was an entertainer and an entertainment adviser. He lived in San Francisco for 10 years and Fairfield for 13 years before that.

He is survived by his sisters, Frances Dimond and Patricia Timm, both of Fairfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vicente and Elise and his brothers, Victor, Vincent and Peter.

Arrangements are being handled by Solano Valley Mortuary.

Albert Victor Rodriguez

At his request, there will be no formal services for Albert Victor Rodriguez, 88, of Dixon. Inurnment will be private. Visitation will be from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at Milton Carpenter Funeral Home in Dixon.

Mr. Rodriguez died Oct. 3, 2000, in Davis after a long illness.

Born July 19, 1912, in Los Angeles, he lived in Dixon for several years. He worked for 27 years in San Francisco as a postal inspector and was a member of the National Letter Carriers Association. He was an avid photographer and loved to read.

Mr. Rodriguez is survived by his wife of 60 years, Adeline of Dixon; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Susan of Alameda; and son, Barry of San Francisco. He also has four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Northern California, 553 Pilgrim Drive., Suite C, Foster City, 94404.
