Stanley Paredes
Stanley Paredes, 76, of Oakdale died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003 at his home.
A native of Temecula, he lived in Oakdale for 20 years. He was a truck driver for 25 years. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII.
He is survived by his wife, Janis Paredes of Oakdale; children, Diane Alonzo of Tulare, Norma Paredes of Hanford, Jon Paredes of Tulare, Janice Salgado of Corcoran and Cathy Wurzel of Hanford; step-children, Robert Barlogio of Templeton, Daniel Barlogio of Oakland, Timothy Barlogio of Templeton, Cindy Pahlow of Santa Rosa; brothers, Tito Paredes of San Dimas, Danny Paredes of Corcoran; 22 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Paredes, Jr. and grandson, Mark Alonzo.
A memorial service was held on Tuesday, Dec. 16 at Community Baptist Church, Waterford. There was no visitation.

Richard Andreasen
Richard Alan Andreasen, 67, of Oakdale died Sunday, June 23, 2002, at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto.
Mr. Andreasen was a native of Blair, Neb. and had lived in Oakdale for 35 years. He was a banker for First Interstate Bank for 24 years.
Mr Andreasen served in the Army. He was also a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Oakdale Lions Club, Oakdale Golf and Country Club, Scoutmaster of Troop 43, and he administered the Carnival at Oakdale Elementary School. He was a 1964 graduate of Cal Poly.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Andreasen of Oakdale; children, Tod Andreasen of Woodland and Michael Andreasen of Idaho; sister, Janet Andreasen of Nebraska; brother, Larry Andreasen of Iowa; mother, Wilma Andreasen of Idaho; sister, Janet Andreasen of Nebraska and eight grandchildren.
Services were conducted on Tuesday, June 25, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Modesto. Burial followed at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Oakdale.

Mary Antifae
Mary W. Antifae, 93, of Oakdale died Sunday, Aug. 18, 2002 at Oak Valley Hospital.
Mrs. Antifae was a native Mikado, Saskatchewan, Canada. She resided in Turlock for 25 years prior to moving to Oakdale 38 years ago. She was a homemaker and had worked at Findarle's T.V. and Appliance in Riverbank for 10 years. She was a member of the Grandmothers Club, Garden Club and the Community United Methodist Church in Oakdale. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, needlework and painting.
She is survived by her daughter, Gail Sward of Oakdale; grandchildren, Sandra West and Eric Sward, both of Oakdale; two great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Aug. 22 at Community United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Turlock Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Wednesday, Aug. 21 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Oakdale Memorial Chapel.

Ed Deffenbaugh
Ed J. Deffenbaugh, 90, of Oakdale died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002 at his home.
Mr. Deffenbaugh was a native of South Dakota. He lived in Oakdale 64 years. He was a supervisor for FMC Company for 32 years.
He also owned and operated Ed's Diggins Antique in Columbia for 20 years. He enjoyed fishing, metal detecting and playing cards.
Survivors include his wife, D. Louise Deffenbaugh of Oakdale; children, Edwina Benedix of Valley Home and Darleen Johnson of Oakdale; sister, Hazel Marr of Washington; five grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers and five sisters.
A graveside service was held Thursday, Dec. 12 at Burwood Cemetery, Escalon. Oakdale Memorial Chapel in charge of arrangements.

Jerald Burch
Jerald (Jerry) Othie Burch, 63, a former resident of Oakdale and a 1958 graduate of Oakdale High School, died Sunday, June 22, 2003 at his home in Grass Valley.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Peterson Burch; daughters, Shelli Fetzer of Colfax and Kelli Frykholm of Boulder, Colorado; sisters, Ann Blanco of Granite Bay and Linda Hill of Valley Springs; brothers, Tim Burch of Auburn and Richard Burch of Gainsville, Texas; and six grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 27 at Calvary Bible Church of Grass Valley, 11481 State Highway 174, Grass Valley, CA. Time to be determined, call the church at 530-273-1343.
Velma Bates
Velma Adelaide Boitano Bates, 90, died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003 at Oak Valley Care Center.
Mrs. Bates was a native of Groveland and had lived in Oakdale for 62 years. She worked as a Tax Collector for the Oakdale Irrigation District for 28 years. She was a member of Oakdale Women's Club, Oak Valley District Hospital Auxiliary, Oak Valley District Hospital Foundation, Friends of the Library, Oakdale Golf and Country Club and Oakdale Ladies Golf Association.
She is survived by her son, Phillip Bates of Sacramento; two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Philip M. Bates.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, Oct. 16 at 2 p.m. at Oakdale Citizens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 15 at Oakdale Memorial Chapel.

Alfred Brennan, Jr.
Alfred Francis Brennan, Jr. 75, of Oakdale died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003 at Oak Valley Hospital.
A native of Eugene, he lived in Oakdale for 75 years. He was a cattle rancher for over 50 years. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Oakdale Dinner Club and VFW Post 2922.
He is survived by his children, Jane Burns of Modesto, Edward Brennan of Valley Home, Joseph Brennan and Robert Brennan, both of Oakdale; sisters, Bernadine Bacigalupi of Oakdale and Valera Cashman of Strawberry; brother, James Brennan of Oakdale; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Muriel Brennan.
Rosary was said on Sunday, Dec. 14 at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Mass was said on Monday, Dec. 15. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Eugene. There was no visitation.

Thelma Fry
Thelma L. Fry, 84, of Ripon died Monday, Oct. 21, 2002 at English Oaks in Modesto. She was 84.
Born on Oct. 9, 1918 in Missouri, she had lived in Ripon for 48 years and prior to that, lived in Modesto. She was a homemaker and loved to read.
Survivors include her children, Meredith Gilbert of Escalon, Jade Harper and Gary Fry, both of Ripon; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Fry, in 1985; a daughter, Dale Leefa Fry, a brother, Roland Saling and a grandson, Mathew Focha, in 1989.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Oct. 23 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Deegan Ripon Memorial Chapel. Graveside service will be Thursday, Oct. 24 at 11 a.m. at the Ripon Cemetery.

Alma Finney
Alma Agnes Finney, 95, of Valley Home died Sunday, Aug. 18, 2002 at Hylond Convalescent Hospital in Modesto.
Mrs. Finney was a native and lifelong resident of Valley Home. She was a homemaker and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Valley Home.
She is survived by her son, Dean Finney of Prescott, Arizona; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 24 at 10 a.m. at Oakdale Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Valley Home Memorial Park. There will be no visitation.

Myra Macken
Myra Macken, 96, of Walnut Creek died Friday, Nov. 1, 2002.
She previously lived in Oakdale for 30 years. While living in Oakdale she was president of the Oakdale Garden Club and a charter member of the Oakdale Saddle Club. She was on the 440 relay team that tied the world record at the qualifying tryouts in New Jersey for the 1928 Olympics. In 1987 she was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame at the University of the Pacific.
She is survived by her sons, Terry Macken of Walnut Creek and Larry Macken of Cupertino and their families.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Macken, in 1971.
Memorial services will be conducted on Monday, Nov. 11 at 1 p.m. at Oakdale Memorial Chapel.
Remembrances may be sent to the giver's favorite charity or to Alzheimer's research.
