Sherrie Lea Isaac
May 10, 1952 - June 24, 2018
Born in Salinas, California
Resided in Salinas, California
Sherrie would like to let you know that her work here is done. She received a call, and her new mission takes her to a wonderful place where she will be socializing; music, laughter and love are guaranteed. We wish her a safe journey. She left us 66 years young after a brief illness on June 24, 2018. Born May 10, 1952, in Salinas, CA to Harry and Dolores Knowles, Sherrie attended Santa Rita Grammar School, North Salinas High School, and Hartnell College. From her early years, she was active in the community, beginning with the Rainbow Girls and dedicating her life to countless years as a volunteer for several boards and charitable organizations, often as a director, and President, donating more time and skill to service groups that meant a great deal to her and included: Salinas California International Airshow, Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital Foundation, California Rodeo Salinas, Palma High School, El Sistema USA/YOSAL, the Salinas Rotary Club, and the Salinas Valley Chamber of Commerce. One proud achievement was she was the Co- Rotarian of the Year for 2018. Sherrie’s business career began with Kasavan and Pope as an apprentice within the firm, becoming an accountant as she was working to obtain her CPA credential and in true Sherrie form, passed the entire exam the first time. In 1984, she went to local accounting firm Hayashi & Wayland, where she became a partner. Her love of travel took her to many places, most recently Greece “Opa! "Ώπα!” and Ireland “"May the winds of fortune sail you, May you sail a gentle sea.” Her quick wit and amazing fashion sense served her well in her professional and volunteer life and her travels. We will remember her smile, her warmth, her energy, her love for life, the love and friendship of family and friends, but also colleagues and clients, many of whom over time also became friends. She worked very hard all her life, and she made a difference in the lives of many.
She is survived by, Alan Isaac, her daughters, Rachel E. Isaac, Jill Lee (Gary), her mother, Dolores Knowles, sister, Janet Hamlet, granddaughter, Luca, several beloved nieces and nephews, and many friends.
