K. W. Holland
June 30, 1929 - August 10, 2018
Born in Hollis, Oklahoma
Resided in Salinas, California
Our dad, grandpa, and uncle, K.W. Holland passed away peacefully at home on August 10, 2018 from complications due to Alzheimer's disease.
K.W. was born on June 30, 1929 to Nellie Rae and George Holland at home in Hollis, Oklahoma.
After his mother passed away in 1931, the Holland children were separated to live with other family members while K.W. chose to stay with his dad. They eventually traveled out to California where some of the family had already settled. George found work along the way before finally settling in Salinas in 1938. In 1941, when K.W. was twelve years old, his father George died of a sudden heart attack. This left K.W. to be raised by his older brother, Coy and wife Cordia Holland and his sister, Manila and husband Jim Martin.
K.W. attended Roosevelt School, Lincoln School and went on to graduate from Salinas High School class of 1948.
K.W. served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1957. After his service he went to work for his uncle, Lucian Stockton and brother in law, Jim Martin. He then went on to establish KW Holland Fertilizer Sales & Application in 1958.
K.W. was married to his beloved wife, our mom, Treva for 36 years until her passing in 1990.
Dad enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and family as well as traveling up to Washington State once a year to visit and fish for Salmon and Crab with his sister, Juanita and her husband Fred. Joining them each year were his high school buddies Bob Reed and Laird Aldrich and their wives.
He also enjoyed frequently meeting up with family for breakfast at the Waffle Shop as well as playing cards each Friday with his special lady friend Mary Lois Passek and their group of friends.
Once dad could no longer drive, his son Mike would take him out to some of his favorite places to eat and have coffee. He enjoyed going to Black Bear Diner for dinner each Sunday and getting a good game of Tripoley going on Sunday evenings at home with family.
As our dad’s health further declined, it became clear that he needed much more care to be able to stay at home. Without hesitation, his grandson Dino Regazzi, stepped in to take care of his grandpa full time.
Thank you, Dino, for taking such good care of your grandpa. He loved you so much. We are so proud of you.
Thank you to all VNA/Hospice staff and Pacific Coast/Kindred Care staff for all your help and guidance.
K.W. was active at the Salinas Firehouse Recreation for Seniors. He was an active member of The American Legion Post 31 and a former member of the Elks Lodge
K.W. is survived by his children, Mike Holland of Salinas, Laura Holland, Judy Holland-Regazzi of Salinas, Grandchildren Michelle Hull (Christopher) of Elk Grove, Marshall Holland of San Francisco and Dino Regazzi of Salinas, and great-grandchildren, Trevor and Madison Hull.
Also surviving K.W. are his sisters, Juanita Vochatster and Delois Garren. Along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins who loved their “Uncle K” very much.
K.W. was preceded in death by his wife Treva, brother Coy Holland, sisters Delroy Pike and Manila Martin. Graveside services have been held with a special blessing by Deacon Carl Figenshow. Family friend, Ken Collins performed Amazing Grace on Clarinet. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Central Coast VNA/Hospice and The Salvation Army.

Terry Armstrong passed away peacefully on April 25 at the age of 78 after several years of declining health surrounded by family members in his Carmel Valley home.
