Katelynn Rose Milstein

Newborn Katelynn Rose Milstein died July 29, 2003, at 5:30 a.m. at Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center in Salida.
She was born July 29, 2003 at 12:36 a.m., to Curtis Lynn and Margaret Mary Rose Milstein.
She is survived by her parents of Salida; grandparents, Stephen and Mary Ann Raynoha, Madison, Wis.; Mae and Jim Bowman of the United States Air Force Academy and Samuel and Patricia Milstein of Petoskey, Mich.
Katelynn’s heart was donated through the Donor Alliance.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home, 203 E. Sackett Ave., Salida.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Heart of Rockies Regional Medical Center OBGYN Department through the funeral home.
Arrangements are with Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.

Michael P. Kinneman

Michael P. Kinneman, 52, Coaldale, died Aug. 2, 2003, at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs.
Mr. Kinneman was born March 9, 1951, in Danville, Ill., to Richard (Pauline) Kinneman.
He was employed for the last seven years at the Buena Vista Correctional Facility as a correctional officer.
He married Cherie Russo July 10,1992, in Hayden Creek. They renewed their vows June 21, 2002 at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Mr. Kinneman was a physical education teacher in Illinois and had been a substitute teacher in Cotopaxi and Salida.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was an avid Colorado Avalanche fan.
Mr. Kinneman is survived by his parents and wife, Cherie Kinneman, Coaldale; sons, Mike Kinneman of Texas, Stephen Korenek of Mississippi and Ryan Korenek of Coaldale; daughter, Natasha Kinneman, Coaldale; sisters, Lana (John) Parker and Paula Moore, all of Illinois; brother-in-law, Barry Russo of Texas and many nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1-4 p.m. today at Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mass will follow at 10:30 a.m.
Interment will be held at a later date at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Texas.
Friends who desire may make memorial contributions to the benefit fund for Mr. Kinneman’s children, c/o High Country Bank, P.O. Box 309, Salida, CO 81201.
Arrangements are with Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.

Leo ‘Bud’ Cook

Leo “Bud” Cook, 77, Salida, died June 1, 2003, at the Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Cook was born Sept. 23, 1925, in Silt, to Leo F. and Gladys (Carpenter) Cook.
He was a Glenwood Springs High School graduate.
Mr. Cook married Patricia Veltrie Jan. 28, 1950, in Salida.
He was a longshoreman and built ships during World War II, he worked with the B&B gang for D&RGW and Koppers (creosote) Co. in Smeltertown.
Mr. Cook helped build the first nuclear power plant in Walla Walla, Wash. He was a branch manager for Pepsi for 27 years, and most recently worked in the sporting goods department at Wal-Mart.
Mr. Cook enjoyed fishing and meeting his friends at the bakery for coffee each morning. He was a past member of the Elks and a volunteer fireman.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Cook is survived by his wife, Patricia, Salida; sister, Marie (Mel) Jowell, Silt; sons, Gareth (Rhonda) Cook, Colorado Springs and Kelly (Penny) Cook, Salida; daughter, Lynola DeDual, Salida; sisters-in-law, Mary (Dan) Johnson, Emma Bernhardt and Betty Veltrie; grandchildren, Aaron (Treasure) Davis, Candance (Matt) Bernard, Andy Cook, Bradley Cook, Keli-Lyn Cook, Nicole Cook and Sydney Cook; great-grandchildren, Brandon Cook, Aiden Bernard and Serenity Davis; good friend, Allan Smith and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday at Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, people who wish may make memorial contributions to St. Joseph’s Helping Hands or the Ronald McDonald House in Colorado Springs through Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.

Chuck Nachtrieb

Chuck Nachtrieb, 88, Mesa Ariz., died May 16, 2003, in Mesa.
He was born to Charles and Ethel (Sebring) Nachtrieb in Nathrop at the Nachtrieb Ranch on Chalk Creek on April 9, 1915.
Services were held in Mesa, Ariz., May 29, where he was buried beside his wife, Rosie, who died Feb. 11, 1992.
He was also preceded in death by his mother and father; brothers, “Doc” Joe and Cal; sisters, Charlotte Armstrong, Martha Carson and Virginia Gates; half-brother, Walt Packard and half-sister, Margaret (Nachtrieb) Donley.
Mr. Nachtrieb is survived by his sister, Ruby (Nachtrieb) VanBuskirk, Buena Vista; sons, Charles H. Nachtrieb IV (Roberta), Buena Vista and Dana Nachtrieb (Dee), North Pole, Alaska; daughter, M. Kathryn DeLuca, Sierra Vista, Ariz.; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Chuck Nachtrieb, “Old Dad,” was born and raised on the family ranch in Nathrop. He went to work at an early age for Tom McQuaid on the Salt Creek Ranch in South Park as a cowboy and bronc buster.
He enjoyed rodeoing for many years and later became a rodeo clown, now called a bull fighter. He was a bareback and saddle bronc rider. He worked until he was 82 and then retired.
Mr. Nachtrieb did ranch work, logging, mining and prospected what is now the Homestake uranium mine on Marshall Pass.
He was a heavy equipment operator and helped build the Thule Airbase in Greenland in the early 1950s.
He had his own trucks and equipment in the 1960s and drove truck for many years were he picked up the handle, “Old Dad.”
He semi-retired in 1984 and managed a large storage unit complex in Mesa, Ariz., until he was 82. Mr. Nachtrieb became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints during that time.
He enjoyed fishing, rodeos and watching all sports. He was a big fan of the church softball and baseball teams.
Mr. Nachtrieb enjoyed entertaining people playing piano, guitar or his harmonica.
“Old Dad” was always ready to tell a good story or give someone a helping hand.
An informal memorial service will be held in Mr. Nachtrieb’s memory at noon Saturday at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1166 in Johnson Village.

Edward Touber

Funeral services for Edward Touber were held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.
Rev. Alan L. Sulzenfuss officiated. Organist was Georgianna Smith and soloist was Jennifer Hammond.
Musical selections were “Amazing Grace” and “On Eagle’s Wings.” Readers were Lisa Glenn and Jeff Graf. The Eulogy was given by Tim Glenn and Stan Provenza.
Pallbearers were Greg Riley, Jeff Riley, Tim Glenn, Jeff Graf, Terry Hibbs and Bill Schulte.
Honorary pallbearers were Stan Provenza, Bill Webb, Tony Gentile, Larry Cicerelli, Floyd Stallsworth, Mike Oversole and Ray Perschbacher.
Interment was at Fairview Cemetery. At the cemetery, members of Salida Elks Lodge No. 808 held their service and members of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars held their flag presentation ceremonies. Ted Sarai played Taps.
Arrangements were with Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.

Delia Archuletta

Delia Archuletta, 85, Salida, died April 18, 2003, at Columbine Manor Nursing Home.
Mrs. Archuletta was born May 25, 1917, in Vallecitos, N.M., to Ramon and Locadia (Giron) Jaramillo.
She was a long-time member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Mrs. Archuletta is survived by her daughter, Mary (Ralph) Maestas, Salida; son-in-law, Lupe Gardunio, Denver; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ben Archuletta; daughter, Dora Gardunio and a brother, Sequillas Jaramillo.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1-4 p.m. today at Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday and Mass of the Christian Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at St.Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery.
Please omit flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to the Columbine Manor Activities Fund through Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.

Gilbert M. Bustos Jr.

Gilbert M. Bustos Jr., 46, Salida, died April 19, 2003, at Columbine Manor Nursing Home.
Mr. Bustos was born Nov. 16, 1956, in Salida, to Gilbert and Marlene (Martinez) Bustos.
He was a long-time member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, a fast-pitch softball player and enjoyed attending all sporting events.
Mr. Bustos was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Jolene Bustos Lara.
He is survived by special friend, Theresa Cortese, Salida; brother, Pat (Pam) Bustos, Salida and niece, Ashlea Bleu Lara, Sedalia, Mo.
Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1-4 p.m. today at Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday with Mass of the Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will follow immediately at Fairview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony Yaffey House through Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.

Winifred E. Gilmore

Winifred E. Gilmore, 91, Salida, died April 20, 2003, at Columbine Manor Nursing Home.
Mrs. Gilmore was born June 13, 1911, in South Dakota, to Philip and Mary (McCloskey) Beech.
She moved from Denver to Salida in 1998.
Mrs. Gilmore is survived by her cousins, Margaret Brannigan, Salida; Mike (Linda) Brazil, Salida; Jeanie (Glenn) Everett, Salida; Bob (Mary) Brazil, Pueblo and Pat Davis, Rifle.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Gilmore.
There are no services scheduled at this time.
Arrangements are with Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.
