Also survived by three grandchildren. She was born in Glastonbury, CT, May 25, 1923 a daughter of the late William W. & Jessica Williams Buck. She was a graduate of Connecticut College where she was elected Phi Betta Kappa, received a Masters Degree in Social Work from Smith College and a Masters in Psychology from Columbia University. She retired in 1988 as an assistant clinical professor in the Dept. of Psychology at Yale University after 20 years of service. She was a reader making recordings for the blind, served as a docent at several local art museums, traveled frequently with Elderhostel and was an avid birder.
Funeral service at St. Peter's Cemetery, 59 Main St., Cheshire, Sunday, March 23 at noon. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Nature Conservancy, 4245 N. Fairfax Dr., Arlington, VA 22203-1606. Arrangements under the direction of BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden.

Aunt of Delores Gerzabek and her husband Frank of North Haven, Barbara Marenna of Branford, Rosemary Enright and her husband Thomas of Miami, FL, Joseph Mendillo and his wife Ann of Hamden, Robert Sliby of Clinton, Ronald F. Bozelko and his wife Katherine of Orange, William Bozelko, Jr. and his wife Lucille of Orange and Barbara Roblin of Irvington, NY. She was born in New Haven March 29, 1914 daughter of the late Anthony and Sophie Kuzelle. She was a supervisor for over 35 years for SNET and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
Funeral from BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, Sat., March 8 at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anthony Church, New Haven at 10 a.m. Friends may call Friday from 5 - 7 p.m. Burial in St. Lawrence Cemetery. In Wallingford, March 21, 2003, Ethel Leaf Moriarty, 89, of 54 Beatrice Dr., West Haven, wife of the late Walter John Moriarty, Sr., mother of Walter J. Moriarty, Jr. of Canterbury, CT, sister of Ebba Casius of Hamden. Predeceased by a sister, Eleanor Considine and a brother, Milton Leaf. She was born in New Haven, daughter of the late John and Minnie Miller Leaf and a resident of West Haven for the past 50 years. Mrs Moriarty was a life long member of Bethesda Lutheran Church and the Altar Guild. She was a Administrative Assistant at the Yale Law School Library for 25 years prior to her retirement. She was Past President of the Woolsey St. School, Fair Haven and a long time member of the Swedish Junior League.

In Hamden, March 2, 2003, Kate Hemingway Keefe, 88, of 200 Leeder Hill Dr., wife of the late Donald F. Keefe. She was the daughter of the late Louise Lee and Ruth Alicia Porter Hemingway and sister of the late Louis Lee Hemingway, Jr. She is survived by three children: Sarah H. Keefe of Scituate, MA, Nicholas F. Keefe of San Francisco, CA and Thomas F. Keefe of Middlebury, VT, three grandchildren: Nathaniel, Emma and Asa Keefe. Mrs. Keefe graduated from the Masters School at Dobbs Ferry, NY and from Vassar College, Class of 1937, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She met her future husband in 1940 and was married in April 8, 1942, the first couple to be married in the St. Thomas More Chapel, Yale Univesity. She was active in a variety of community affairs, serving on the Boards of the New Haven Symphony Orchestra, The Children's Center, the New Haven Colony Historical Society and the Grove Street Cemetery. She also belonged to the Saturday Morning Club, The North End Club and for many years was an active reader at Recording for the Blind.
Funeral from BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 WHITNEY AVE., HAMDEN, Thursday, March 6 at 12:30 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Thomas More Chapel, 268 Park St., New Haven at 1:00 P.M. Interment will be held at a later date. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. MERIDEN - Oliver Arthur Rioux, 64, died Sat., March 15, 2003 at MidState Medical Center. He was the husband of Virginia Rae Rioux. Born in Meriden Feb. 3, 1939, he was the son of the late Theophile and Roseanna Gilbert Rioux. He was employed as a tool and die maker at Meriden Rolling Mill and was a member of the National Rifle Association and a certified firearms instructor. Mr. Rioux was a bonded certified and registered locksmith, a range instructor and honorary lifetime member of the Silver City Gun Club, a former member of the Southington Sportsman's Association, a karate instructor in Middletown and Sho Dan black belt. His lifetime hobbies were drag racing and fishing. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Lori Luschenat and Lisa Kroeber; two stepchildren, John Stagni and Lisa Russo; four grandchildren, Monique Vlisides, Melissa Luschenat, Michael Luschenat and Laurel Kroeber; several step-grandchildren; two brothers, Roland Rioux and Noel Rioux; and six sisters, Theresa Fazzina, Carmel Williams, Claire Cosker, Yvonne Snow, Rita Maskell and Diane Tuller. He was predeceased by two brothers, Ferdinand Rioux and Antoine Rioux and a sister, Margaret Moore.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the Beecher and Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden.

Joseph Edwin Lane, Sr.

Joseph E. Lane, Sr. 64, husband of Carole Fortin Lane of Farview Ave. passed away March 15, 2003. He was born in New Haven, a son of the late Joseph E. and Lillian Saars Lane and a was veteran of the US Navy. He was a resident of East Haven since 1965. Mr. Lane had been a meat cutter at the former Klarides Supermarket in Derby and later retired from Genelco Industrial Supply Co. He most recently was a delivery driver for NCS Pharmacy of Cheshire. Joseph was an umpire with the New Haven Little League, North Branford Umpires Assoc. and he umpired adult slow pitch softball and was a member of the male vocal group the "Barnstormers". Besides his wife, he is survived by daughters, Dotty Owens, Darlene Suarez, Marlene Gogliettino all of East Haven, Joanne DeVoe of West Haven and a son, Joseph E. Lane, Jr. of East Haven, brothers, Myles Lane, Sr., David Lane, Sr., both of Lexington, KY and Laurence Lane of Wayne, PA and 8 grandsons.
Funeral service Friday, March 21 at 9:30 a.m. at BEECHER & BENNETT TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME, 410 Campbell Ave. at Court St., West Haven. Friends may call Thursday from 4-8 p.m. Burial in East Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to the North Branford Little League, P.O. Box 213, North Branford, CT 06471.

Born in Hamden, Feb. 16, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Louise Scholl Wilhelm. She was a graduate of the New Haven State Teachers College. Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters; Suzanne Parker of Wallingford and Barbara McGarry and her husband, James of Sayville, NY, four grandchildren; Lisa Parker, Maghan, Allison and Ryan McGarry and two great-grandchildren; Kira and Taryn Murphy. She was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth W. Bassett.
Friends may call at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 WHITNEY AVE., HAMDEN on Tues. evening, March 4 from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. It is suggested that memorial contributions be sent to the American Cancer Society, 538 Preston Ave., Meriden, CT 06450.

Wallingford - Hazel Southerton Buchan, 88, wife of Thomas J. Buchan, Sr., for 65 years, of Ashlar Village, passed away March 30, 2003. She was born in New Haven, a daughter of the late Joseph and Hattie Cornelius Southerton and had resided in North Haven for 40 years before moving to Wallingford in 1987. She was a member of St. John Episcopal Church of North Haven and Golden Rod Chap. # 34 O.E.S. of West Haven. In addition to her husband she is survived by two sons; Thomas James Buchan, Jr. of Hamden and Dennis Southerton Buchan of Rochester, NY, five grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sisters, Lillian Southerton Fitzsimmons, Bernice Southerton McGill and two brothers, Edward & Perry Southerton.

MERIDEN - Elsa K. Limmer, 95, formerly of Cottage Street, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003, at Life Care Center of Nashoba Valley, Littleton, MA. She was the wife of the late Walter Otto Limmer. Born in Meriden on March 9, 1907, she was the daughter of the late William S. and Augusta Toennies Weigand. She had attended Meriden schools and was a graduate of New Britain Normal School, after which she taught fourth grade for eight years in Middlefield. She was a member of St. Andrew Episcopal Church.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Richard Loughlin of Cape Elizabeth, Maine; a grandson, Christopher Loughlin of Boxborough, MA; three granddaughters, Sally Esponnette of Auburn, Maine, Bonnie Martin of Hudson, MA and Amy Loughlin of Fayetteville, N.C.; and six great-grandchildren.
A graveside service and burial will be held Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003 at 1 p.m. in Walnut Grove Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the Beecher and Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden, CT. A memorial service will be held at a later date at St. Matthew's United Methodist Church in Acton, MA. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mrs. Limmer's memory may be made to St. Matthew's United Methodist Church, Central St., Acton, MA 01720.

Grace Fearey Rathbone

Also survived by 4 nieces and 2 nephews and several great nieces and nephews. Mrs Rathbone was a graduate of Wellsley College class of 1929. She was a general secretary at Yale School of Fine Arts from 1929 to 1946 and a member of the VNA Board of Directors and the Baby Clinic and the Red Cross in the 1940's. Mrs Rathbone was a member of Christ Church, New Haven.

Edna was born in Brooklyn, NY, June 11, 1909 a daughter of the late Herman and Elizabeth Olwein Frohlich, prior to moving to Hamden she lived most of her life in Ridgewood, NJ.
