Verrill of Houston, Texas, a daughter, Wendy Lydia Verrill Weimann of Lander, Wyoming and two grandchildren, Noelle M. Weimann and Robert Paul Weimann IV also of Lander, WY. Predeceased by a brother, Ralph Burkhart of Knoxville, TN. She was born Nov. 17, 1916 in Flowers Hospital in New York City, a daughter of the late Ralph and Ruth Johnson Burkhart. She went to high school in Knoxville, TN, and attended U. of Tenn for two years, then graduated from K. Gibbs Secretarial School. She was a Family Genealogist of all branches. Recording Secretary, also program Registrar;Geneology Chairman of the Mary Clap Wooster Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, New Haven. Attending State and National Conventions in Washington, DC. She loved to travel and had been all over the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans including Russia and had gone thorough the Panama Canal three times. Loved going to New York to plays and the Metropolitan Museum and the Natural History Museum. She was for years the Secretary of the Friends of the Hamden Library, member of the New Haven Women’s Club, Hamden Historical Society, East Tenn. Historical Society, Ft. Riley, Kansas Historical Society and Museum. Member of the Southern Conn. Art Gallery and the Smithsonian Museum in Washington. She loved to cook and do needlepoint, read history and travel. A volunteer at the Trees of Christmas at the New Haven Historical Society and NHCH Soc. Book Sales. A former resident of Woodbridge, she worked for the Red Cross Blood Drive for Twenty Years. Awards and honors include: Hamden Historical Society, Friends of the Miller Library, New Haven Historical Society and Red Cross Volunteers. Worked at J.C. Penny in buying Departments and personnel Depts; and Yale University and New Haven Pulp and Board Company during the war years in Personnel Dept. as assistant to Personnel Director.
Memorial service to be held at a later date. Arrangements under the direction of BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden.

Prata, Sr. and his wife, Cora of Hampton, VA. Sister of the late Carmela (Connie) Prata, Anthony Mattei, Lorraine Celotto and John Scala. Lucy was born in New Haven, Nov. 21, 1920, a daughter of the late Ralph and Antoinette Romano Mattei and step-daughter of the late Cecilia Mongillo Mattei. She was a bookkeeper for Hallock's for over 20 years and later for St. Francis Hospital i Miami Beach, FL for 15 years.
Funeral from BEECHER & BENNETT TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME, 410 Campbell Ave. at Court St., West Haven, Monday, June 2 at 9:15 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Anthony's Church at 10 a.m. Friends may call on Monday from 8:15 a.m. Interment in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Fenmore Roger Seton

Fenmore Seton, 85, husband to his beloved Phyllis for 61 years, passed away on Memorial Day, May 26th 2003, following a lifetime of accomplishment, purpose and loving commitment to family, friends and the community. He will be remembered for his business acumen, his life-long devoted efforts to the cause of the physically disabled, and his wide-ranging philanthropy.
A graduate of the Yale class of 1938, he established (with Phyllis) the Seton Elm & Ivy Awards to honor each year members of the Yale and New Haven communities who had worked to foster and improve town/gown relationships. This initiative earned for them jointly the honor of a Yale Medal award. Fen with Phyllis was also recognized with the ‘Seal of the City’ award of the New Haven Colony Historical Society and the ‘Connecticut Philanthropist of the Year’ award from the National Society of Fundraising Executives.
Fen was a decorated WWII Air Force Major who participated in the Normandy D-Day landings on Omaha Beach and in the Battle of the Bulge. He was the founder and CEO of the Seton Name Plate Corporation (now part of Brady Corporation: NYSE – BRC) a company which he built and led to a position of worldwide prominence as a premier manufacturer of identification and labeling products.
For more than 60 years Fen served as an active advocate for the physically handicapped. His significant efforts to empower persons with disabilities took many forms but were largely directed through Rehabilitation International, the global organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for the disabled. Having served first as Treasurer, he was elected President of RI at its 1988 Congress in Tokyo. In 1992, Fen received from President George H W Bush the Presidential Distinguished Service Award “For historic contributions over a period of years to the rights, quality of life and productivity of Americans with disabilities.” In the same year, Fen addressed the United Nations General Assembly to present a global program designed to benefit the millions of people worldwide with physical disabilities.
Among Fen’s other awards were a Citation of Honor from the Office of the Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare, the Preminger Medallion for Distinguished Service in the field of International Rehabilitation, and the Public Service Award presented by the Social Security Administration “in recognition of your tireless efforts throughout the world to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities.” Fen was also honored with The Distinguished Service Award of the National Easter Seal Society “for more than 55 years of dedicated service as a staunch champion for disabled persons and their just causes”; and The Chairman’s Award of the People-to-People Committee on Disability “for world leadership…and selfless service to people with disabilities.”
Fen was an enthusiastic supporter of a myriad organizations and charities in the Greater New Haven community. He received Honorary Degrees from Albertus Magnus College and from the University of New Haven. He is survived by his adored partner Phyllis, his beloved daughter Dinny and her husband Charles Wakerley, his cherished grandsons Christopher and James Adams, his sisters Lucile Bendick and Myra Meyer, his brothers Charles and Ted Seton, and many treasured relatives and friends.
Fen was an extraordinary man whose multitude of good deeds, large and small, will endure as an inspiration to so many whose lives he touched.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, May 30 at 11:00 am at the Congregation Mishkan Israel, 785 Ridge Road, Hamden followed by interment at the Grove Street Cemetery.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday May 28 and Thursday May 29 from 4 pm to 8 pm at Old Farm Road. Contributions may be made to The Rehabilitation Center, 95 Hamilton Street, New Haven CT 06511 or the Clifford Beers Clinic, 93 Edwards Street, New Haven, CT 06511.

In Derby, May 20, 2003, Shirley Miller Peterson 80, of 117 North State St., Ansonia, wife of Raymond C. Peterson, mother of Helen Verch and her husband, Mark of Meriden, Sharon Kelsey and her husband, Gordon of Ansonia and a son of Bridgeport, sister of Irma Kitchar and Joan Robinofski both of West Haven and the late Geroge Eaton, who was killed in action during WW II. Also survived by 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was born in New Haven, March 25, 1923 a daughter of the late George and Lois Miller Eaton. She was a member of the Eagles Club of Ansonia and Bitteford, Maine.
Funeral service at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, Friday, May 23 at 11a.m. Friends may call Thursday (TODAY) 4 - 8 p.m. Burial in Beaverdale Memorial Park.

Alice was born in New Haven, July 10, 1909 daughter of the late Karl and Carolina Mayer Berchtold. She was a teacher for the New Haven School System for over 30 years.

Grace L. Bavolack, wife of the late Alexander W. Bavolack of 231 Centerbrook Rd., Hamden passed away Friday, May 16, 2003 in the Hospital of St. Raphael. She is survived by her daughter, Ann Mansfield and her husband, Louis Mansfield of Hamden. Three sisters, Palma Giordino of Wallingford, Esther Raffone and Pat Capuano both of Hamden and a brother, Joseph Campochairo of FL. She is also survived by a grandson, Shawn Louis Mansfield of Hamden. She was predeceased by sisters, Mary DeRosa, Lee Petriccione, Edith Ferraiuolo, Sylvia Campochairo and a brother, Sal Campochairo. Mrs Bavolack was born in New Haven, July 2, 1931, a daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine Mastriano Campochiaro, and was employed at the Fleet Bank in Hamden for 15 years prior to her retirement in 1993. She also worked for the New Haven Credit Bureau and she was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.

In Mystic, CT, May 15, 2003, Josephine Persicano Turner, formerly of Bethany, wife of the late John McCullough Turner, Sr. Born in Brooklyn, NY, May 4, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Carmella Guera Persicano. She graduated from New York University in 1934 and volunteered as a Physical Education Instructor in the Bethany Elementary School for many years. A Bethany resident from 1946 - 1997, she was active on the Bethany Republican Town Committee and served on the Bethany Board of Education. Mrs. Turner was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Bethany. She is survived by her son, John "Mac" Turner, Jr. and his wife Patricia and two grandsons: Leland and Gregory Turner, all of North Stonington, a brother, Vincent Persicano of Houston, TX and a sister, Philomena Tardera of Point Lookout, NY. She was predeceased by a daughter, Elizabeth J. Turner.

She was born in New Haven, May 29, 1916 daughter of the late Lester and Edith Fadden Fowler. She had worked as a secretary for the West Haven Schools prior to her retirement.

He was a partner at the former Rascati Grocery Store of Shelton Ave., New Haven and was a member of the Miller Association of Seniors, AARP, and Open Door at Spring Glen Church and SAGES-Gateway Community College. An avid golfer at Meadowbrook Country Club playing with his partners, Mike, John and Red. He had played with the Boys Basketball Club of New England in the 1937 Championship and also played basketball in the Army.
