McCartney, John T.

John T. McCartney of Dover, Delaware, died at home Thursday January 11, 2001.

He was 62.

Mr. McCartney was born August 11, 1938 in Big Rock, Arkansas, the son of the late Lawrence and Hazel Gary McCartney.

Mr. McCartney worked for 15 years as an engineer, most recently with the Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill in Smyrna, Delaware, before retiring due to disability.

He was a United States Air Force veteran of the Korean War and enjoyed archery.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline Fortner McCartney

2 sons, John T. McCartney Jr. of Felton, Delaware; Michael P. McCartney of Hartly, Delaware; 2 daughters, Colleen Carmean and Karen Rice both of Dover, Delaware; 1 sister, Loretta Saulsgiver of Ashville, New York; 3 step-sons, Thomas Spencer of Hartly, Delaware; Richard Spencer of Milford, Delaware; Brian Spencer at home; 1 step-daughter, Beth Lavender of Michigan and 1 grandson, Taylor McCartney of Felton, Delaware.

Services will be Tuesday January 16, 2001 at 12noon in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main Street Smyrna, Delaware, where friends may call 1 hour before services.

Burial will be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, Delaware.

J. Fendall Froning

Age 84 of Wilmington, DE died Tuesday, August 7, 2001 in the Kentmere Nursing Center.

Mr. Froning was a chemist and superintendent for the DuPont Company Chambers Works, retiring in 1976 after 36 years of service. He was a scientist for the Manhattan Project during WWII. Mr. Froning lived in Kennett Square, PA, was elected supervisor for the Kennett Township for 6 years, and was the chairman of the Open Space Committee for 11 years. He was the CCD Principal and Eucharistic minister for St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Kennett Square, PA. He was a Republican committeeman for the Kennett Township. He moved to Wilmington, DE in 1996 and was a member of St. Ann's Church.

He is survived by is wife of 61 years, Doris W. Froning; his sons Dr. Michael J. Froning of Birmingham, AL, Andrew J. Froning of Kennett Square, PA and Peter J. Froning of Albuquerque, NM; his daughters, Anne C. LaBou of Monroe, MI, Dr. Mary L. Froning of Washington, DC; his brother, Henry B. Froning of Grainger, IN; his sister Laura Parkinson of Wilmington, NC; 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ann's Church, Gilpin Ave. & Union St., Wilmington on Saturday, August 11 at 10:30 am, where friends may call after 9:30 am. Interment will be in St. Joseph on the Brandywine Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Kentmere Nursing Care Center, 1900 Lovering Ave. Wilmington, DE 19806, or to the Kenn Parc Tree Fund, PO Box 1258, Kennett Square, PA 19348.

Margaret M. Matthews

Age 78 of Wilmington, DE passed away Monday, August 6, 2001 in the Christiana Hospital.

Margaret was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Murphy. She was the wife of the late Harrison W. Matthews.

Margaret is survived by her children, John L. Matthews of Wilmington, DE, James Matthews, with whom she lived and Suzanne Rodenheiser and her husband David of Townsend, DE; her sisters, Geraldine Kelly and Eleanor Frarer, both of Wilmington, DE and 7 grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service 11 am Friday August 10th and the DOHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 1900 Delaware Ave., Wilmington, where friends may call after 9am. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Margaret may be sent to Little Sisters of the Poor, 185 Salem Church Rd., Newark, De 19713.

Van B. Tozour, Jr.

Age 79 of Newport, DE died Tuesday, August 7, 2001 int the Christiana Hospital, Newark, DE.

In his earlier life, Mr. Tozour was a commercial fisherman. He retired from General Motors and owned and operated Van's Repair Shop with his wife for 35 years. He was a member of the lonic Lodge #31, a 32-degree Scottish Rite Mason, a member of the Nur Temple Shrine and the Kiwanis Club.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Irene, his son Edward Tozour and his wife Dianne of Newark; his daughter, Linda Ivins and her husband Paul of Newark and his grandchildren, Kristen, James, Jenny, Robert, Steven and Susan.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service in the Gracelawn Memorial Park Chapel, N. DuPont Pkwy. On Saturday morning, August 11, 2001 at 11:45 am, where friends may call after 11 am. Interment will be in the adjoining memorial park.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 1096 Old Churchman's Rd., Newark, DE 19713.

MARIO JUAN PEREZ

MAGNOLIA -- Mario Juan Perez, of Magnolia, died Tuesday, August 7, 2001 at home. He was 17.

Mr. Perez was born on June 13, 1984 in Elizabeth, New Jersey.

Mario attended Dover High School and was presently working with his father as an auto mechanic.

He enjoyed his friends, music and enjoyed playing the guitar of which he was self taught. He likes art and enjoyed drawing and sketching.

He is survived by his parents Rigoberto and Brenda C. Perez of Magnolia, a brother Airman Rigoberto L. Perez of Hill Air Force Base, Utah, a sister Rachael Antionette of Magnolia, paternal grandmother Moserette Cardona of Puerto Rico, paternal grandfather Juan Perez of Puerto Rico, and several great grandparents of Puerto Rico, Aunt and Uncle Ronda and Wayne Martin of Milford, Aunt Deborah Taggart of Milford and his best friend Sean Colicchio , and several cousins.

Friends may call Saturday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 West Camden-Wyoming Avenue.

Funeral services will be Sunday at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

Burial will be in Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.

Waltmann III, Charles F.

Charles F. Waltman III of Clayton, Delaware, died of Huntingtons chorea at home Sunday February 25, 2001

He was 41.

Mr. Waltman was born June 18, 1959 in Dover, Delaware, the son of Charles F. “Chuck” Waltman Jr. and Elizabeth “Dolly” Boney Waltman with whom Charles lived.

Mr. Waltman worked as a welder before his illness forced him to retire.

He served 6 years in the United States Army Reserves.

Mr. Waltman enjoyed listening to prayers and songs.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by 2 brothers and a sister-in-law, Dwyne L. and Cheryl Waltman of Dover, Delaware and David L. Waltman of Clayton, Delaware;

1 sister and brother-in-law, Lena and Noel Lord of Middletown, Delaware, his maternal grandmother, Alma Rheppard of Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, several aunts and uncles and 5 nephews and 1 niece.

Services will be Saturday March 3, 2001 at 1PM in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main Street Smyrna, Delaware, where friends may call Friday from 7 to 9PM.

Burial will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park Dover, Delaware.

Wheeler-Satterfield, Mildred A. "Millie"

Mildred A. “Millie” Wheeler-Satterfield of Smyrna, Delaware, died Wednesday March 21, 2001 in Bayhealth/Kent General Hospital.

She was 48.

Millie was born December 3, 1952 in Dover, Delaware, the daughter of Charles Wheeler Sr. of Middletown, Delaware and Shirley Manning Deblander of Canton, Pennsylvania.

She worked as a material handler for Metal Masters in Clayton, Delaware for the last 5 years.

She enjoyed spending with her family and friends, shopping and going to the beach.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by 1 daughter and son-in-law, Marie and Easley Pierson of Smyrna, Delaware;

4 brothers, Frank Wheeler and his wife and daughter, Dorris and Tanya with whom she lived; Charles Wheeler of Florida; Thomas and Jeff Wheeler both of Clayton, Delaware;

2 half-sisters, Dawn Corman of Bellefonte, Pennsylvania and Mary Beth Wheeler of Middletown, Delaware; her step-father, Art Deblander of Canton, Pennsylvania and step-mother, Mary Wheeler of Middletown, Delaware; her special friend, Richard Willey of Wyoming, Delaware and nieces and nephews, Steven, Thomas, Charles and Stacy.

Services will be Saturday March 24, 2001 at 2PM in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main Street Smyrna, Delaware, where friends may call 1 hour before services.

Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery Smyrna, Delaware.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way, Suite 205, New Castle, DE 19720 or to Citizens Hose Company #1, PO Box 97 Smyrna, DE 19977.
