Lois Wiley Inskip, age 75, died of cancer on March 20, 2002 at home. Lois was born on July 8, 1926 in the U.S. Army Hospital on Carregidor, Philippine Islands to Lieut. Harold F. Wiley and Lois Twiggar Wiley. She grew up in Ossining, NY where she graduated from Ossining High School in 1943. In 1947, she graduated with highest honors from Wellesley College, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa in her junior year. She obtained a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Yale University, where she met and married her husband “Skip.” From 1950-1952, she died post-graduate work at the University of Illinois for Dr. William C. Rose, a prominent amino acid biochemist.

In 1952 she moved to western New York where “Skip” started work for DuPont's Electrochemicals Department in Niagara Falls, NY. While they lived there, Lois was very active in the League of Women Voters of Kenmore, NY. After moving to Delaware in 1970, she indexed chemical patents for IFI/Plenum Data for a number of years.

In her later years, she became interested in genealogy and traced several branches of her mother's family back to the early 1600's in this country and earlier than that in England and Holland. Among her ancestors was a native American (probably Matinecock) from the northern shore of Long Island. She enjoyed music, ideas, travel, and various forms of stitchery, but the most important thing in her life by far was her family.
