D'Amico, Jr, Eugene M.

Eugene Michael D'Amico, Jr. age 77, of Bear, DE, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, July 27, 2008. He graduated from Salesianum High School in 1949 and went to serve in the US Air Force. Gene was a Sgt. in the 730th Air Force Band at Westover Air Force Base in MA. He was also a member of the US Air Force Musicians Alumni Assoc. Gene was a past Deputy Grand Knight, Knights of Columbus St. Pius X Council 3858. He spent his life in the dry-cleaning and restaurant business. Gene was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who was a friend to all. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, football games at Dickinson College, and especially spending time with family and friends.

Gene is survived by his wife Gloria of 56 years; a son, Dr. Eugene M. D'Amico III and wife, Ellyn S. Hutton-D'Amico; 2 daughters, Rebecca A. McMahan and Marcella M. D'Amico; 2 brothers, Michael D'Amico and Anthony D'Amico and wife, Thelma; 4 grandchildren: Marcus E. McMahan Sr and wife Danielle, Michael D. D'Amico, Cara E. D'Amico, and Nikki M. McMahan; and 2 great grandchildren, Marcus E. McMahan Jr. and Bennett McMahan. He was preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Mary D'Amico.

A visitation for Gene will be held Friday, August 1, 2008 from 6-8 pm in the Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Rd., Newark, DE 19702 and again on Saturday August 2, 2008 from 8:30-9:30 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, August 2, 2008 at 10 am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 345 Bear-Christiana Rd., Bear, DE 19702, entombment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Gene's memory to Salesianum School, 1801 N. Broom Street, Wilm., DE 19802

The family would like to thank the staff at Delaware Hospice and the Helen Graham Cancer Center for the excellent care given Gene.

Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home

D'Elia, Mary Bianca

Mary B. D'Elia, age 89, of Newark, DE, died on Wednesday, February 13, 2002 at Ingleside Care Center in Hockessin.

Mary was born in Lipari, Sicily on May 22, 1912. She has lived in the Newark area since 1913. Mary was a seamstress for more than 70 years. She enjoyed needlepoint, crocheting, watching sports and most of all, cooking.

She is survived by 2 sons, Fedele D'Elia and his wife Barbara Jo, Joseph D'Elia and his wife Christine; 1 daughter, Nancy Benderoth and her husband Vic; 1 brother, Anthony Raffaele; 6 grandchildren; 1 adopted grandson; and 3 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday February 17, 2002 at R. T. FOARD & JONES FUNERAL HOME, 122 West Main Street, Newark, DE. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.

Harvey R. Hager, Jr.

"Buz"

Age 58, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 24, 2007. He was a 1966 graduate of Dickinson High School.

He is survived by his loving family; sisters, Beverly Brown and Janice Chandler; a brother, John Faverio; his nieces, Jennifer Lamb, Kristen Brown, Jill Shelnut, Amy Kormalos and Michelle Faverio; and his great nephews, Chandler, Camden, Michael and Connor.

Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Delaware Hospice, Inc., 3515 Silverside Road, Wilmington, DE 19810.

Dante M. D'Ortona, Jr.

Age 58, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully at his residence on Monday, February 2, 2009.

Born in Wilmington, Dante was the son of the late Dante and Marian (DeJesse) D'Ortona. He previously worked as a bartender and kidney dialysis technician. He was a member of the St. Anthony Club and enjoyed playing softball, bowling, and playing cards and Yatzee with his sister, Mary. He was predeceased by the love of his life, his daughter and heart Danielle in September, and by his brother, John, and sisters, Dolly and Donna.

Dante is survived by his former spouse, Karen (Campbell) D'Ortona; his sister, Mary Marra of Wilmington ; numerous nieces, nephews as well as great and great great nieces and nephews; and special friends John K, John Z, Kathy, Motts, Gerry and Sandy as well as many other friends.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 7th at 11 AM at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 9th and DuPont Streets, Wilmington . There will be no calling hours. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Heartland Hospice House, 5661 Ochletree Lane, Wilmington, DE 19808.

D'Amico, Kimberly A.

Kimberly A. D'Amico, of Houston, DE, died Monday, May 23, 2005, west of Felton from injuries received in an automobile accident, she was 32. Mrs. D'Amico was born August 21, 1972, in Wilkes-Barre, PA to Melvin and Deborah Shaw Jr. of Wilkes-Barre, PA.

Mrs. D'Amico graduated from Meyers High School in 1990. She furthered her education at Syracuse University, where she was Cum Laude, and received her Masters Degree in Guidance from the Marywood University. Mrs. D'Amico was currently a guidance counselor for the Greensboro Elementary School, Greensboro, MD. She loved working with children, and was also a dedicated mother to her own two children. Her life was devoted to being a good wife and mother. She was very family oriented and everything in life that she has done, has been to benefit her own family or done with her family. Her favorite hobbies were scrapbooking and cross stitching. She enjoyed preserving memories through scrapbooking and sharing her cross stitch work with family and friends. Another favorite pastime was puzzle books.

Mrs. D'Amico will be sadly missed not only by her close family, but by the many faculty and students that she leaves behind. She will be remembered as a loving and caring person who was a delight to all that knew her, and a positive influence to all the children in school.

Mrs. D'Amico was a member of the American School Counselors Association.

In addition to parents, she is survived by her husband of ten years Christian D'Amico of Houston, her 6 year old daughter Marissa B. D'Amico of home and her 3 year old son Christian D'Amico Jr. of home, a sister Katherine Shaw of Oakland, CA, a brother Melvin E. Shaw III of Columbus, OH, paternal grandparents Melvin and Betty J. Shaw Sr. of Wilkes-Barre, PA, maternal grandparents John and Emily Boker of Kingston, PA, mother-in-law and Stepfather-in-law Bill and Josephine Margulies, father-in-law and step mother-in-law John and Virginia D'Amico.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, May 28, 2005, at the Kniffen - O'Malley Funeral Home, South Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA, at 10:00 AM, with the Reverend James Harring and Rev. Patrice Goodwin officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in Wilkes-Barre and Thursday evening from 6 to 8 PM at the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington. Interment will be at the Maple Hill Cemetery, Wilkes-Barre, PA.

In Lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations be made to the Kimberly A. D'Amico Education Fund, c/o Melvin Shaw Jr., 396 West Academy Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702, to support her children's education.

Arrangements are by the Melvin Funeral Home, Harrington, DE.

D'Occhio III, Joseph "JoJo" Guy

Joseph "JoJo" Guy D'Occhio, III, age 22 of Newark DE, went home to be with the Lord suddenly on Saturday, August 23, 2008. JoJo was an incredibly loving and talented person. He loved life, he treasured his family and friends and was proud of his Italian heritage. He attended the University of Delaware where he majored in mechanical engineering. JoJo had also studied overseas in Italy, minoring in Italian. He was the president of the Italian Club at the U of D called "Il Circolo Italiano". He enjoyed street hockey, tennis, snowboarding and good food. JoJo took pride in being called a mama's boy. He started working at a young age and worked for several area businesses such as Pat's Pizza, Rhino Linings, TGI Fridays and the Legends Restaurant at Delaware Park. He was an avid car detailer and was a big Flyers Fan. We will miss his warm smile and generous hugs.

JoJo is survived by his mother and father, Pamela A. and Joseph G. D'Occhio, Jr.; brother, Vincent Aldo; sisters, Adriana Celeste, Ninamari Geena, Angela Rita and Vienna Rose D'Occhio, and "big sister" Aunt Andrea Mattie; Godchild and niece, Miabella Rose Marigliano; paternal great-grandmother, Josephine Lattanzio, paternal great-grandmother, Angela D'Occhio; maternal grandparents, Adriano & Patricia Manieri; paternal grandparents, Joseph G. & Rita D'Occhio, Sr.; special friends, Nicholas Guida, Josh Shaver and Alex Houlday; the Bashan Family who welcomed JoJo as a son/brother; also by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A visitation will be held on Friday, August 29, 2008 in the Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Rd., Newark, DE 19702 from 6 to 8 pm. A service in celebration of JoJo's Life will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2008 in the Glasgow Reformed Presbyterian Church, 2880 Summit Bridge Road (Route 896), Bear, DE 19701 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow. In lieu of flowers contributions can be sent to the JoJo D'Occhio Memorial Fund to benefit local youth programs. C/O Strano & Feeley Funeral Home.

Daddio, Michael Dominic

MAGNOLIA—Michael Dominic Daddio of Magnolia lost his courageous battle with heart disease Friday, July 25, 2003 in A.I. DuPont Hospital for Children, Wilmington, with his family by his side. He was 2.

Michael was born on June 5, 2001 in Kent General Hospital, Dover, Delaware.

Michael was a very special little boy who touched many lives. His extended family and friends include his many doctors and nurses and his special State Police buddies.

Michael is survived by his parents State Police Corporal Robert and Tracie Daddio, a sister Tara Daddio of home, his paternal grandparents John and Marietta Daddio of North Branford, Connecticut, paternal great grandfather Dante Pierelli of West Haven, Connecticut; maternal grandparents Paul and Deborah Sterling of North Branford, Connecticut, Godmother Adrian Wisting of Madison, Connecticut, Godfather John Daddio of North Haven, Connecticut and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Michael's life will be celebrated with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Monday in the Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State Street, Dover.

Burial will follow in Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests Michael be remembered with memorial contributions in his memory to the Ronald McDonald House of Delaware, 1901 Rockland Road, Wilmington, DE 19803.

Arrangements are by Pippin Funeral Home, Wyoming.
