Cahall, Linda A.

Linda A. Cahall, of Clayton, passed away at her home on Thursday January 3, 2008. She was 60.

She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Allen Cahall; a son, Morgan Cahall, of New Castle; a brother, Jeff Morgan and his wife Jessica, of New Castle; three uncles, Richard Droddy, of Ellendale; Charles Droddy, of Dunbar, WV; and Joseph Mays, of Elsmere; three sisters-in-law, Eleanor Cahall and Deborah Callahan, both of New Castle; and Margaret Pierce, of Dover; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services and burial will be private.

Memorial donations may be sent to DE Hospice Inc., 911 S. DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.

Arrangements are by Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Smyrna.

Elizabeth M. Backer

Age 81, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, February 3, 2007 surrounded by her family.

Born in Philadelphia, Mrs. Backer was predeceased by her husband, Leon J. Backer, her daughter, Cecelia Kathleen, her mother, Ada Myers, and her sister, Dorothy Sturgeon. A homemaker, she was a den mother and treasurer of the Cub Scouts.

She was a founding member of St. Catherine of Siena Church and past president of the Ladies Auxiliary Knights of Columbus-Curtis Council.

She was also a mentor at Forest Oak School.

Mrs. Backer is survived by her daughter, Mary E. Backer with whom she shared a home; her sons and daughters-in-law, Leon M. and Susan of Wilmington, Joseph E. and Carol of Wilmington and Christopher J. and Helen of Media, PA.

Also surviving are her grandchildren, Amy, Leon D., Mary K., Matthew, Christopher, Jr., Bridget, and Daniel; and two great-grandchildren, Haille and Keira.

Friends are invited to visitation on Friday, February 9th between 10:30 and 11:30 AM at Mealey Funeral Home, Limestone and Milltown Roads, Wilmington.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 2501 Centerville Road, Wilmington.

Interment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery, Wilmington.

Cain, John Paul

John Paul Cain, 68, of Camden passed away Thursday, Nov., 26, 2009 in the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford.

He was born on May 18, 1941 in Bound Brook, NJ, son of the late Theodore and Edwina McClaskey Cain.

John had worked as a mechanic.

He was a member of the Mahwah Fire Dept during the 1970's and also the New Jersey State Fire Chief's Association.

John enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years Barbara Cain, five children Francine Cain of SC, Tim Cain of Orlando, FL, Steven Cain of Springfield, MO, Lawrence Cain of Richmond, VA and Maura Cain of FL, seven grandchildren Angie Cain, Kayla Cain, Bailey Cain, Morgan Cain, Addison Cain, Hayley Brown and Coleman Brown, two brothers Michael Cain of Washington Twp, NJ and Ted Cain of Charleston, SC,

A memorial service will be 3:00 pm Sat., Dec. 5 at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may gather from 3-5 pm. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.

Cahall, Kenneth T.

Kenneth T. Cahall of Dover passed away due to complications from pneumonia on Monday March 22, 2004 in Kent General Hospital. He was 83.

Mr. Cahall was born June 19, 1920 in Wilmington, Delaware to the late William Arthur Cahall and Blanch Shively Cahall.

He served in the United States Navy and was a full time Reservist.

He retired from the United States Postal Service in the Parcel Post Department, Dover Division.

Mr. Cahall was a member of the Dover Elks Lodge #1903, the Smyrna Clayton V.F.W.

He continued to be an avid bowler and belonged to two bowling leagues the 55+ and Modern Maturity League.

He enjoyed ballroom dancing and belonged to the Dover Dance Club.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years Mollie Cahall, 2/4/96.

He is survived by his two loving daughters, Victoria Morris of Hartly and Janet Miller of Felton; two grandsons, Matthew Chaffer and Tyler Miller; a nephew Donald Johnson of Dayton, Ohio and his companion Georgia Landry.

Funeral services will be held 1PM Friday March 26, 2004 in Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt. 10) Dover, DE.

Friends may call one hour prior.

Interment will be in The VA Cemetery North Bear at a later time.

In lieu of flowers the family request contributions be sent to Delaware Hospice Central Division, 911 S. Dupont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.

Cahall, Allen "Al"

Allen B. "Al" Cahall, of Clayton, passed away on Sunday March 22, 2009 at Bayhealth Medical Center, Dover. He was 60.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and had retired from General Motors, Newark, after 30 years of service.

His wife of 37 years, Linda A. Cahall, passed away in 2008.

He is survived by a son, Morgan A. Cahall, of New Castle; two sisters, Eleanor Cahall, and Deborah Callahan, both of New Castle; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services and burial will be private.

Memorial donations may be sent to the American Heart Association, 1019 Mattlind Way, Milford, DE 19963.

Arrangements are by Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Smyrna.

Cahall, Aiden Glen

Aiden Glen Cahall, age 11 months, of Dover, went to be with the Angels on Thursday April 10, 2008 after a long battle with cancer.

He was born April 20, 2007 in Dover, the son of Glen J. Cahall and Andrea Hutchison.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Christian Cahall, of Dover; paternal grandparents, Raymond and Betty Humphries, of Dover; maternal grandparents, Irving and Carole Hutchison III, of Smyrna; maternal great-grandfather, Irving Hutchison II, of Smyrna; and his Godmother, Penny LeShock.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to all of Aiden's caregivers at A.I. DuPont Hospital for Children, especially the staff of 3A BBMT and PICU, the Hematology and Oncology departments, Dr. Benjamin Warf, Holly Miller and Becka Weiman of the PT department, and social workers Dora Temple and Dale Perkle.

Services will be held 12:00 PM Tuesday April 15 at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, where friends may call at 11:00 AM.

Burial will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.

If desired, contributions may be made to the Baby Aiden Cahall Fund, c/o Catherine Simon, 214 W. Mt. Vernon St., Smyrna, DE 19977.

Arrangements are by Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Smyrna.
