Cadmus, Sr., Paul R.

Paul R. Cadmus, Sr. of Smyrna, Delaware, passed away Thursday June 5, 2008 in the Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill.

He was 80.

Mr. Cadmus was born January 29, 1928 in Frenchtown, New Jersey the son of the late Clarence and Charlotte (Wampfler) Cadmus.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Goldie Marie (Harrison) Cadmus; a sister, Judy Graham; a grandson, Levi T. Wall and a brother-in-law, Louis Golt.

He is survived by four sons, Paul R. Cadmus, Jr. of Enoree, South Carolina, Dennis C. Cadmus of Hartly, Delaware, Thomas C. Cadmus and Eric L. Cadmus both of Smyrna; two daughters, Susan Coursey of Clyo, Georgia and Rebecca Yetter of Dover, Delaware; a sister, Ruth Golt of Dover ; 10 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Services will be Tuesday June 10, 2008 at 11a.m. in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main Street Smyrna, Delaware where friends may call one hour prior to the services.

Burial will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park Dover, Delaware.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Odyssey of Wilmington (Hospice), 1407 Foulk Road Suite 200 Wilmington, DE 19803.

Arrangements are by Faries Funeral Directors and Crematorium Inc., 29 South Main Street Smyrna, Delaware.

Jennifer A. (Harris) Bader

Age 38, died unexpectedly on Monday, November 10, 2008.

Jennifer was preceded in death by her husband, Randy Bader in 2007. She is survived by her daughter, Christina, at home; her mother, Regina Harris; her father, Charles W. Harris, III; brother, Scott Harris; best friend, Betsy Sayers; three aunts, Shirley Wilson, Joyce Davies, and Joan VanBrunt and her husband, Karl; and many other loving family and friends.

Service will be private.

In Jennifer's memory contributions may be made to Christina M. Bader College Education Fund, c/o Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilmington, DE 19805.

Charles Randall Bader

"Randy"

Age 45, died peacefully surrounded by his family at the Heartland Hospice House, Pike Creek on Thursday, February 1, 2007.

Randy was a truck driver with R.B.S. Enterprises for the past 6 years.

Randy had a love of music and played the guitar. He enjoyed being at home working on his Mustang, and fixing and repairing whatever he could get his hands on. He loved spending time with his friends. His pride and joy was his daughter, Christina.

Randy is survived by his wife of 17 years, Jennifer (Harris) Bader; his pride and joy Christina M. Bader at home; his parents, Alfred and Pauline Bader of Wilmington; his brothers, Alfred Jr., John F., David B., Daniel, and Patrick; his sister Laurie Anne Montgomery; his mother-in-law, Regina S. Harris; his father-in-law, Charles W. Harris, III; many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Catherine of Siena R. C. Church, 2503 Centerville Rd., Wilmington on Wed. Feb. 7th at 11 a.m. Friends may call at the church Wed. morning from 9 to 11 a.m. Interment in the All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington.

In lieu of flowers please make contributions to Christina M. Bader College Education Fund, c/o Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Elsmere, DE 19805.

Babby, Sr., William P.

WILLIAM P. BABBY SR., Age 81, of Wilmington, DE died peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday December 17, 2003.

Bill was the son of the late Joseph and Ann Babby. He was a United States Navy Veteran of WWII. He served aboard the Light Cruiser USS St. Louis, which was engaged in a number of battles in the Pacific Theater.

Bill retired from Delaware Power and Light Company in 1983 after 30 years of service . He was a member of St. Elizabeth Church and a member of the VFW Post 11197. He was predeceased by; his wife Clare M. Babby, his brother Joseph Babby and by his sister Ann Donovan.

Bill is survived by; his son William P. Babby, Jr., and his wife Carol of Wilmington, his daughter Barbara Babby-McGregor and her husband Gary James, of Sarasota, FL., his grandchildren, William P. Babby, III, Angela D. Babby, Michael A. Babby, McKayla A. Babby, Jennifer A. Curtis, Christopher P. Curtis and Kevin P. Curtis., his Great-grandson Brendan Stockman, and his friend and companion Dolores Seramone.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Elizabeth Church Cedar and S. Clayton Streets Wilmington, on Monday December 22, at 10am. Burial will be in St. Joseph on the Brandywine Cemetery. Friends may call at the DOHERTY FUNERAL HOME 1900 Delaware Avenue Wilmington, on Sunday evening December 21, from 6 to 8pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Bill may be sent to Compassionate Care Hospice 5610 Kirkwood Highway Suite 5610 Wilmington, DE 19808.

Backus, Daniel

Daniel Backus, 85, of Dover left to be with the Lord Friday morning, June 12, 2009 at Capital Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center.

Daniel was born on March 30, 1924 in Kenton, DE, son of the late Matthew Backus and Rebecca Gay.

He worked as an operating engineer for Local 542 for 25 years. He was a member of the Swaukin Temple #60, a 32nd Degree Past Master of St. John Lodge #7, and a member of the American Legion Atlas Post #9 in Smyrna.

Daniel is survived by his wife, Doris Backus, 6 daughters, Rebecca Yarbrough of Dover, Carolyn Permell of New Castle, Mildred Gatson of Dover, Diane McDaniels of Vineland, NJ, Rev. Valerie Smith of Alexandria, VA and Evangelist Stephanie Mitchell of Pappilion, NE, 5 sons-in-law, 2 sisters, 1 brother, 3 sisters-in-law, 1 brother-in-law, 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am Saturday, June 20 in the Calvary Baptist Church, Route 8, Dover. Viewing will be from 9-11 am and a Masonic service from 11-11:30 am. Burial will follow in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be sent to Alxheimer's Association, Julie H.C. Bailey Training Center, 100 S. Main St., Suite 211, Smyrna, DE 19977.

Baer, Shirley Jane Henry

Shirley Jane Henry Baer of Seaford, DE, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2002 at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. She was 68.

She was born Feb. 17, 1934 in Preston, MD, the daughter of the late Levin J. and Christina Schevel Henry.

She was a homemaker, dedicated wife and an avid reader. She was baptized and confirmed in the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Preston.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, George Baer, whom she married on Nov. 9, 1951, a son, Robert Baer of Salisbury, a daughter, Deborah Street of Bridgeville, DE, one granddaughter and two grandsons; three sisters, Anna H. Lord of Seaford, Martha Hopkins of Easton, and Evelyn Tucker of Preston, and one brother, William Henry of Cookeville, TN. A brother, Levin Henry, Jr. preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at the Framptom-Hawkins-Eskow Funeral Home, P.A. in Federalsburg. Interment will follow in Bridgeville Cemetery in Bridgeville, DE. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00-2:00p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Immanuel Lutheran Church, PO Box 39, Preston, MD 21655.

Judith A. Bachman

Age 71, died Thursday, October 4, 2007 at Christiana Hospital.

Judith worked with the Dept. of Corrections as a counselor for 36 years, and she headed a state wide AIDS Awareness Group that helped many men. She loved the beach and was an avid Pogo player.

Judith was the daughter of the late Myrle Deliah and William Alvin Bachman. She was preceded in death by a nephew, Edmund Fulmer. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Herr; her grandsons, Jessie and Joshua Lewis; her niece, Susan Hendrickson-Hall and her husband Jim; nephew, William Fulmer and his wife Phylicia; her great nephews, Troy and Tyler Hendrickson; and her great niece, Hanna Fulmer.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the service at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Elsmere on Saturday October 6th at 10:30 a.m. Friends may call at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning. Interment in Gracelawn Memorial Park, DuPont Pkwy., New Castle.

Badger, Sr., Michael J.

Michael J. Badger, Sr. of Edmonton, KY and New Castle, DE, went home to be with the Lord suddenly on Tuesday, October 19, 2004. Mike was employed at Amtrak as an electrician. He attended St. Elizabeth's School and Wilmington High School. Mike served our country in the United State Marine Corps, H & S Company, 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines Division in 1966-67 where he was stationed in Vietnam. He enjoyed country dancing and traveling to many places. Mike dearly loved his family who will miss him very much.

Mr. Badger is survived by a daughter Angela Argoe and her husband Jeffrey; his son Michael Badger, Jr; a sister Susan Beckman and her husband Larry; 2 granddaughters - Logan and Brittney; his former wife Beverly Badger; a godson Douglas Smith; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter Cheryl Badger; his parents Aldine L. Badger and Mary Smith Badger; a brother Dennis J. Badger; and a nephew Samuel McKeown.

A visitation for Mr. Badger will be held Sunday, October 24, 2004, from 6-8 PM in the Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Rd., Newark, DE. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, October 25, 2004 at 10:00 AM at St Anthony of Padua, 901 N. DuPont Street, Wilmington, DE 19805. Burial will be in the Glebe Cemetery, New Castle, DE.

Willard Preston Bader

Age 71, died suddenly at home on Monday, June 9, 2008.

Preston was a union bricklayer for 44 years and was a member of Local 1. He was an avid thoroughbred horse racing enthusiast.

Preston was the son of the late Edward L. and Agnes V. (Snyder) Bader. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Edward L. Bader, Jr. He is survived by his brothers and sisters, Alfred H. Bader and his wife Pauline, George L. Bader, Sr. and his wife Lucille, Regina A. O'Brian and her husband Michael Sr., Carl F. Bader, Sr., and Dorothy A. Mazick and her husband Michael; and a multitude of nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the service at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Elsmere on Friday morning June 13th at 11 a.m. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Interment in All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington.

In lieu of flowers please make contributions to St. Matthews R. C. Church, 3 Curtis Ave., Wilmington, DE 19804.
