Fabi Sr., John Allan

John Allan Fabi Sr., of Dover, formerly of Clayton, passed away on Thursday January 14, 2010 at Christiana Hospital, Newark. He was 74.

He was born in Brooklyn, NY, and moved to DE over 50 years ago.

Mr. Fabi was employed as a lab technician with General Foods, Dover, for 28 years, retiring in 1989.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, and enjoyed fishing, travelling, prospecting, and eating. In addition, he was an avid Phillies and Giants fan.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Fabi, and a sister, Anita Wolff.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Diane E. Fabi; three sons, John (Jeannie) Fabi, of Felton; Steve (Danielle) Fabi, of Clayton; and Ron (Rita) Fabi, of Clayton; two sisters, Adele Bell, of North East, MD; and Alice Brown, of Battleground, WA; six grandchildren; Shannon, Lee, Nicole, Amanda, Mat, and Megan; two great-grandchildren; Anderson and Hunter; his special brother and sister, Marty and Margaret Schmeusser, of Dover; nine brother-in-laws, and nine sister- in-laws.

Services will be held 7:00 PM Tuesday January 19 at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, where friends may call one hour prior to the services.

Interment will be private.

Arrangements are by Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Smyrna.

Kalb, Maria S.

Maria S. Kalb of Smyrna, Delaware was called home by God on Saturday June 2, 2007 surrounded by her loving family.

She was 68.

Mrs. Kalb was born on August 26, 1938 in Teocaltiche, Mexico, the daughter of the late Ezequiel and Alejandra Calderon.

She was very proud and thankful to become a United States Citizen. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt who enjoyed spending time with her family. She was most notable for her ability to love unconditionally.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Roberto Calderon of Mexico.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Franz "Sam" Kalb, six children; Samuel R. Kalb of Pike Creek, Delaware, Alejandra "Sandy" Barnett of Smyrna, David F. Kalb and his wife Barbara of Smyrna, Erick A. Kalb and his wife Marianne of Smyrna, Victoria K. Carter and her husband Jim of Middletown, Delaware, and Jacob O. Kalb and his wife Lorianne of Bear, Delaware, ten grandchildren, four great grandchildren, two sisters; Herminia Tejeda of Mexico, and Juana Chase and her husband Chuck of Kenton, Delaware, a brother, Ezequiel Calderon and his wife Oralia of Mexico, and many nieces and nephews.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff of Compassionate Care Hospice and to Dr. Timothy Wozniak of the HGCC for their kindness to Mrs. Kalb during her illness. Also, the family would like to thank all their friends for their support and prayers throughout this difficult time.

Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing in celebration of Maria's life on Wednesday June 6, 2007 from 7 to 9PM at the Faries Funeral Chapel located on 29 S. Main Street Smyrna, Delaware. A Catholic Funeral will be held on Thursday June 7, 2007 at 11AM at St. Polycarp's Parish in Smyrna. Burial will be at the Delaware Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Bear, Delaware.

Arrangements are by Faries Funeral Directors and Crematorium, Inc. 29 S. Main St. Smyrna, Delaware.

Marie C. Fahey

Of Longleaf Lane, Bear, died on Friday, March 16, 2001, in the St. Francis Hospital.

Mrs. Fahey was a homemaker. Her husband Frank J. Fahey died October 20, 1998. She is survived by her sons, Paul E. Fahey of Bear, and Jerry Fahey of Orlando, FL; her daughter, Ann Marie Comegys of Wilmington; her sister, Patricia Ferguson of Wilmington; and two grandchildren.

Services and interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Franciscan Center, 833 Market St., Wilmington, DE 19801.

Background: Mr. Failing was a truck driver for the Layton Truck Co. and also drove for Chicks in Harrington. Mr. Failing was a US Army veteran who served during WW II. Mr. Failing attended the Asbury United Methodist Church and he liked music and loved to sing.

Fairess, Gordon M

Gordon M. Fairess of Dover died Tuesday August 20, 2002 at his home. He was 70.

Mr. Fairess was born February 10, 1932 in Dover to the late Ted Fairess and Evelyn Peterson Fairess. He spent his entire life in Delaware.

He served his country for 4 years in the United States Air Force. He was a Civil Service Worker retiring from the Dover Air Force Base. Mr. Fairess enjoyed NASCAR racing and was a Mark Martin fan.

Mr. Fairess is survived by his wife Shelagh Fairess Fordom of Camden; a daughter Linda Fairess of Dover and many cousins.

Funeral services will be held 12 PM, Saturday August 24, 2002 at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 South Bradford Street, Dover, DE. Friends may call Friday, August 23, 2002 from 7-9 PM at the funeral home.

Fallon, Helen E.

Helen E. (Kelly) Fallon, age 87, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 16, 2003 at Christiana Hospital surrounded by her family. She was predeceased by her husband, Willard Fallon. She is survived by her sons, James Elliott of California, Stephen Elliott of Newark, and Richard Elliott of New Castle; her daughters, Faith Sroka and Robin Dvorek, both of Newark; 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Funeral services and interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the American Lung Association, 1021 Gilpin Avenue, Wilmington, DE 19806.

Faist, Kenneth Ralph

Kenneth R. Faist, age 48, a resident of Laurel, DE, passed away on September 18, 2008 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury after a short sudden illness.

Born in Seaford, a son of the Late William Faist and his mother Mary Jane Faist of Georgetown, DE.

In addition to his mother he is survived by brothers: William Faist, Larry Faist, and Rodney J. Faist. A sister Patricia McMullen and her husband Jack. He is also survived by his wife, Patsy Faist and their children, Phillip and Sean Faist. A sister in law Peggy and nephews Brian and Michael McMullen. He will sadly missed by his dog Gizmo.

Kenneth was a graduate of Seaford High School and worked at Walmart until disabled by blindness.

A Graveside Service will be held privately at the Seaford Odd Fellows Cemetery. The Pastor Stacey Johnson will officiate.

Arrangements are in the care of the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home 700 West St., Laurel, DE 302-875-3637.
