Kaiser, Cheryl

Cheryl Marie Kaiser, born October 1, 1959, passed away peacefully in Smyrna, Delaware on August 23, 2004 after a long illness.

A former resident of Wilmington, Cheryl is survived by her mother, Joanne Raynolds and step-father Stuart Raynolds of West Grove, PA, and sisters Nancy Pidcock of Pringle, PA, Linda Kaiser of Philadelphia, PA and Pamela Kaiser-Pare' of Woodinville, WA.

A private family service is planned.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent in Cheryl's honor to HDSA, Delaware Valley Chapter, 525 Plymouth Road, Suite 314, Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462.

Arrangements are by Faries Funeral Directors, Inc., 29 South Main Street Smyrna, Delaware.

Michael “Mickey” Kachmar

August 18, 1912 - August 21, 2001

With grace and dignity, Michael left this life on Tuesday, August 21, 2001 at the home of his daughter, Joanne Kachmar Leavitt of Lake Worth, FL, where he and Clara, his devoted wife of 66 years, resided since October 2000.

Michael was born in Wilmington, Delaware to courageous parents who immigrated from Europe in 1912. Michael was born three months after his parents arrived in the US.

He leaves a legacy of love and dedication to his children, Joanne and David; granddaughter Christa Leavitt of Lake Worth; granddaughters Marisa and Dana Kachmar of Wilmington and their mother, Susan Schiable; grandson Ian David Kachmar; son-in-law Richard Leavitt of Lake Worth; brother Theodore Kachmar with wife Eleanor and children Teddy, Steve, Joe and Marian and their respective spouses; niece Eleanor Jablonski and children Karen and Michael; nephew Joseph Pawlowicz with wife Joan and children Ann Marie and Kara; nephew Edward Pawlowicz with wife Helen and children Mimi, Missy and Julie; niece and godchild Marie McKelvey with husband Bob and children Bobby, Andy, Susan and Kathy; niece Carole McElhenney with husband Stuart and children Phillip, Anna, Ben, Katie and Charlie; nephew Charles Murphy with wife Kathy, as well as all significant others in the family.

Michael was preceded in death by his nephew, Jerome Kachmar, of Boothwyn, PA in October 2000. Michael’s niece, Lillian Pawlowicz Baker of Aspen, Colorado, preceded her uncle in death in September 2000. Lillian’s devoted son, Carl Baker, Jr. carries on his mother’s joyful spirit.

Michael leaves a part of himself in all of us, his family members. He was a gentleman and a gentle man of few words and deep feelings, with a spiritual depth which sustained him over his many years with us. His life exemplified commitment and dedication to family, above all. His quick wit and gentle humor will always make us smile.

We express gratitude to those individuals who provided quality of life care for Michael in Palm Beach County. We extend our gratitude to Hospice of Palm Beach County for their caring support in our hours of greatest need. We are grateful to Ms. Reginna Johnson for her tender and consistent care of Michael in these last few months.

Tillman Funeral Home in West Palm Beach is coordinating arrangements with Mealey Funeral Home on Limestone and Milltown Roads in Wilmington. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 10:30 am at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, 901 E. Newport Pike, Woodcrest, where friends may call after 9:30 am. Interment is at All Saints Cemetery in Wilmington. Friends and family are asked to remember a faithful husband, beloved Dad, adored grandpop, loyal brother, devoted father figure to nephews and nieces, good friend and neighbor, and a good man. He was always there for us. We love him deeply.

Joseph A. Kaled

Age 58 of Newark, DE formerly of Dana Point, California died suddenly on Tuesday, July 16, 2002.

Joseph was a Senior Statistician consulting for the Department of Defense and the private sector.

Joseph is survived by his family including his brothers, Albert R. Kaled of Hamilton, OH & James A. Kaled, of Las Vegas, NV. His sisters Miriam Jacobs of Mason, OH; Sally K. Kaled of Pasadena, CA and Mary Kaled of Newark, DE.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at the DOHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Saturday, July 20, at 11:00am where friends may call after 10. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery.

Kamau, Jane Wangui

Jane Wangui Kamau, age 44, went to be with Lord on Tuesday, November 14, 2006. Jane was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend. She worked as a registered nurse at Manor Care Health Services and also worked as an RN for several temporary agencies. Jane was a member of New Life Worship Center.

Jane is survived by her husband; 2 sons, Joe Mwangi and Nickson Rukwaro; a daughter, Evalyne Nyokabi; 3 brothers, David Wanjohi, Samuel Ndungu, Wilson Nderitu; 3 sisters, Mary Njambi, Anne Wanjiku and Milkah Wairimu. Jane is the daughter of the late Kamau Mirobi and Evalyne Wanjiru.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 19, 2006 in the New Life Worship Center, 60 Fir Ave., Bear DE 19701 beginning at 4:00 pm followed by a service celebrating the Life of Jane at 5:00 pm. Burial will be in her homeland of Kenya.

Harold F. Kalbach

Age 81, formerly of Wilmington, DE died on February 15, 2004 at the heath center at Ware Presbyterian Village, Oxford, PA.

Born in Berks County, PA, Mr. Kalbach was the son of the late Harvey L. and Stella S. Kalbach. He was a graduate of Pennsylvania State University, was a chemical engineer at ICI Americas and a Navy Veteran of WWII. He and his wife were longtime members of St. Mary Magdalen Church, Sharpley. The enjoyed bowling, dancing and traveling

He is survived by his son, Harold F. Kalbach, Jr. of Nottingham, PA; his daughters, Cynthia A. Johnstone of Cochranville, PA, Deborah K. Vendrick and Kim M. Kulesza, both of Oxford, PA; his sons-in-law, Robert C. Johnstone, Kent A. Vendrick and Eugene F. Kulesza; 8 grandchildren; and his brother, William Kalbach of Leesport, PA. He was predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Patricia M. Filliben Kalbach who died in 1999; and his brother Harvey Kalbach.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, February 20 at 10am at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Church, 10 Old Church Rd., Greenville. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Neighborhood Visiting nurse Association (Hospice Program) North Hills Medical Building., 795 Marshall St., Suite 204, West Chester, PA 19380-4412.

Kalmbacher, Donald L.

Donald L. Kalmbacher, died October 26th, 2006 in Wilmington, Delaware. He was born December 6th, 1929 in Wilmington, Delaware. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in Germany. He worked at the duPont Experimental Station for 38 years before retiring in 1989. After retiring he moved to Millsboro, Delaware where he enjoyed fishing and crabbing the Rehoboth Bay with his rescued greyhound Sheba. He moved back to Wilmington in 2003 and lived at Ingleside Retirement Apartments where he worked on the gardens winning 1st place in the Wilmington Gardens contest in 2005. He was a life member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Wilmington and a life member of VFW Post 28 of Millsboro.

The family would like to thank the staff of Odyssey Health Care, Ingleside Apartments and Regal Heights for their care and support.

He is survived by his son, Ronald and wife Patricia of Wilmington; granddaughters, Leah and Melissa of Wilmington; brother, Arthur Kalmbacher of Wilmington; sister, Lois McCoy of Pawleys Island, SC and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Funeral arrangements and burial will be private.

Contributions may be made in Don's memory to First State Greyhound Rescue Inc, P.O. Box 67, Blandon, Pa 19510.

Kalar, Jr., Norman B.

Norman B. Kalar, 84, N. Taylor Drive, Dover, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2002, at KGH Bay Health Dover.

He was born on April 21, 1918, in Erie, PA to Norman and Edna Mae (Miller) Kalar, Sr.

Norman was in the U. S. Navy for 20 years. He was a Master Chief on the USS Hammann and received the Purple Heart in W W I I. He was a member of Military Order of the Purple Heart and American Legion Walter L. Fox Post #2. He owned and worked at Call Norman an auto air-condition repair shop. Norman was very active in the Masons with memberships in, Nur Temple, Wilmington, DE, Grand Council of Cryptic Mason Adoniram Council #2, Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons Kent Chapter #8, Shrine Yacht Clubs, Order of the Easter Star, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, St. Andrews Knights Templar, Thomas J. Shryock Lodge #223 in Hollywood, MD.

He is survived by Wife, Serena Kalar of Dover, DE. Step son, Ralph D. Meluney of Davie, FL. Stepdaughter and her husband, Linda D. and Donald Bates of Dover, DE. Brother in Law and his wife, Medford and Eleanor Davis of Smyrna, DE. Sister in law, Marilyn Garber of Pickerting, OH. Grandchildren, Lori & Erica Bates, Great Grandchild, Sydney Bates, Cousin, Phylis Miller of Erie, PA. And many loving and caring niece, nephews, cousin, and friends.

Remembrance Services will be held Wed. 05/15/2002 01:00 PM at Trader Funeral Home in Dover, DE Burial will be at the Odd Fellows Cemetery Camden, DE

Friends may call Tuesday night 05/14/2002 07:00 PM to 09:00 PM at the Trader Funeral Home in Dover. A Masonic service will be at 8 PM.

Rita B. Kafader

Age 83 of Wilmington, DE passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2006 at the Franciscan Care Center at Brackenville surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Wilmington, Delaware to the late Marguerite and Edward F. Burke. She graduated from Wilmington High School in 1941. Mrs. Kafader was supervisor of business licensing for the State of Delaware, Division of Revenue and retired in 1985. She was a lifelong member of Saint Matthew's Church in Woodcrest.

Besides her parents, Mrs. Kafader is predeceased by her husband, John W. Kafader, her daughter, Anne M. Vietri and her siblings, Edward F. Burke, Jr, Marion McNamara and Regina Coyle.

She is survived by her children, Jonette Oldham, Gina Kenney, Edward F. Kafader, John W. Kafader, Jr., Sally K. Freebery and Rita A. Slepesky. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Matthews Catholic Church at 3 Curtis Avenue, Woodcrest, Wilmington, on Friday, June 23, 2006 at 10:00 AM. Friends may call at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Highway, Elsmere on Thursday evening June 22 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family request contributions to St. Matthews Catholic Church, 3 Curtis Avenue, Wilmington DE 19804.
