Mulrooney, Betsy B

Betsy Mulrooney, 84, beloved wife, mother and grandmama, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully on Monday, July 26, 2010; the feast of St. Ann.

Betsy was born in Philadelphia, PA, the daughter of the late Anna (Early) and William Byrne. She was a graduate of Immaculata University and retired from the Delaware Trust Company. Betsy was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church and a former member of St. Mary Magdalen Church. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Anna O'Sullivan and Eileen Pickar.

Betsy is survived by her husband of 60 years, Tuck Mulrooney; her daughters and their husbands, Pamela MacPherson and Tom of Wilmington, Nina Mulrooney and Al Dorof of Philadelphia, PA, Claire Mott and Fred of Newark and Lisa Becker and Bert of West Chester, PA; her son, Byrne Mulrooney and his wife, Lisa of Charlotte, NC and her nine grandchildren, Meoghan, Michael and David MacPherson, Melanie and Kevin Mott, Bridget and Kelly Mulrooney and Rachel and Melissa Becker.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday morning at 10 AM at St. Ann Church, Gilpin Avenue and Union Street. Friends may call at the MEALEY FUNERAL HOME, Limestone and Milltown Roads on Friday evening from 6 to 8 PM. There will be no morning calling hours. Burial will be in St. Joseph on the Brandywine Cemetery, Greenville. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. Martin's Ministries, 14259 Benedictine Lane, Ridgely, MD 21660.

McGray, Viola M.

HARRINGTON — Viola M. McGray of Harrington, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010 in Courtland Manor, Dover. She was 92.

Viola was the daughter of the late Charles and Susie Brown.

Services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 18, 2010, at the United Pentecostal Church, 48 Lewis St., Bristol, CT. Visitation is one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Peace Dale Cemetery, Bristol, Conn.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Courtland Manor Activities Group, 889 S. Little Creek Road, Dover, DE 19901.

Arrangements are by the Melvin Funeral Home, Harrington, DE.

Mary Elizabeth Flaherty

Age 99, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, June 10, 2010.

Born in Wilmington, Mrs. Flaherty was the daughter of the late Peter and Rosaila (Przeniczna) Kracyla. She worked for Allied Kid for 40 years until her retirement. She was a member of Holy Family Church.

In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her sisters, Stella Kracyla and Helen Konitzer; and her brothers, Stanley, Henry, John and Alfred; her husband, Michael Flaherty in 1981; her niece, Anne Raign; and nephew, Francis S. Kracyla. She is survived by her brother, Martin Kracyla and his wife, Ann of Wildwood Crest, NJ; her goddaughter, Sr. Joan Ference OSF of Wilmington; nieces, Lois E. Dennie and her companion, Joseph Simpers with whom she lived, Rosemarie A. Strusowski of New Castle and Agnes Kracyla of Newark; nephews, John K. Truitt and his wife, Irene of Hockessin, Walter E. Truitt of Smiths, AL and Michael Kracyla of Wilmington; and several great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 15th at 11 AM at Holy Family Church, 15 Gender Drive, Newark. Friends and family are invited to visitation on Tuesday morning between 9:30 and 10:30 AM at Mealey Funeral Home, Limestone and Milltown Roads, Wilmington. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to either Delaware Hospice, Inc., 3515 Silverside Road, Wilmington, DE 19810 or to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 185 Salem Church Road, Newark, DE 19713.

Coverdale, Dorothea R.

HARRINGTON - Dorothea R. Coverdale, of Harrington, died Monday, Dec. 27, 2010, in the Silver Lake Center of Dover. She was 94. She is the daughter of the late Elmira Truitt and her step-father Joseph Truitt.

Mrs. Coverdale worked as a beautician with her aunt for many years when she was younger. She later worked for McCrorys of Dover where she met her husband who winked at her from across the street. From that wink it became a 45 year marriage which started on Nov. 23, 1938, at Asbury Church in Harrington by Rev. Green.

When the kids were grown Mrs. Coverdale sold Avon for 30 years where she made many friends. She was the matriarch of the family farm. She owned, trained and raced Standardbred horses for 45 years. She had many memorable sleigh rides behind "Sinco." When she and her husband went to the races, Dorothea drove the truck coming and going. When women were not allowed to stay on the track, Dorothea was there.

She loved cooking and loved to read and collect cook books. Mrs. Coverdale was once featured on Scorchy Tawes for her cookbook collection of over 300. One of her favorite hobbies was crocheting rag rugs. She loved gardening, flowers, canning for her family, and being outdoors. She exhibited many years at Delaware State Fair. She loved her animals and always had a dog or cat in the house.

Mrs. Coverdale was a very strong willed person who stuck by her words. She loved and treasured her in-laws. Mrs. Coverdale belonged to the Harrington Historical Society, U.S. Trotting Association, Cloverleaf Standardbred Owners Association, and the Harrington Senior Center.

The family wants to thank the staff at Silver Lake Nursing Home for the wonderful care they gave to Dorothea.

She is proceeded in death by her husband, Lindale Coverdale; and grandson, James "Dickie" Sullivan.

She is survived by son and daughter in-law, Mike and Cindy Coverdale of Harrington; daughters and son in-law, Karen Sullivan of Felton, MaryLou and Leroy Betts of Felton; grandchildren, Randy and Connie Sullivan of Felton, Abby Betts and fiance Thomas C. Roberts of Felton, Bruce and Kay Betts of Felton, Ben and Jennifer Coverdale of Harrington, Brett Coverdale of Harrington; great-grandchildren, Whitney Ellen and Ridgley Brock Betts of Felton, and Emily and Joseph Sullivan of Felton.

Services will be Friday, Dec. 31, 2010, at 1 p.m. in Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington. Visitation will be one hour prior. Burial will follow in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.

Donations can be made to the Harrington Senior Center, 102 Fleming St., Harrington, DE 19952.

Archie B. Moore, 90

Milford, DE - Archie B. Moore passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital. He was the son of the late Watson D. and Mabel Moore.

Mr. Moore worked in the car business for over 50 years at various dealerships, and with the Chrysler Corporation. He most recently worked at Walmart for 16 years in the lawn and garden section.

Mr. Moore was a car guy, anything that dealt with automobiles, he knew about and tinkered with. In his younger years, he enjoyed traveling all over the world. He will be remembered as a devoted husband and father. His family always came first, and his children were his life. He made sure they were always provided for, and he instilled in them a sense of family.

Mr. Moore was a devout Christian man who loved to share the Word. He never met a stranger and was very outgoing. His presence will be deeply missed by his family and close friends.

Mr Moore was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda Moore; and a son, James Marvin Moore.

He is survived by his wife, Mary F. Moore of Milford; his sons and daughter in laws, Paul and Donna Moore of Harrington, Wayne and Mandy Moore of Biglerville, Pa.; brothers, Robert Moore of Farmington, Allen Moore of Harrington; sister, Geneva Depew of Greenwood; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 22, 2010 at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Hwy, Harrington, DE 19952. Visitation will be Friday, May 21, 2010 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Interment will be at Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.

Arrangements are by the Melvin Funeral Home, Harrington, DE.

Bellois Glover, Doris H.

Doris H. Bellois-Glover, of Frederica, passed away on Sunday, November 21, 2010 peacefully in her home, she was 88.

Born on December 18, 1921 in Huntington, NY, Doris was the daughter of the late Fredrick and Charlotte (Klein) Euler.

Doris was Past President of the VFW Post 9263 of Commack, NY, and Past President of the Golden Years Senior Citizens Club of Greenville, NY. Doris Loved her flowers, doing crafts and most important her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen R. Bellois; second husband, Harry R. Glover; son, Robert Otha Bellois; and sister, Ruth G. Meissner.

Survivors include daughter, Diane R. (Bellois) Hile of Kernersville, NC; son and daughter in law, Phillip H. and Shirley Bellois of Felton; daughter in law, Katherine Bellois of Huntington, NY; god son, Gary Meissner of Indiana; grandchildren, Dana Parris, Elizabeth Hile, Jennifer Pepe, Michelle Bellois, Amanda Roberts, Brian Bellois, Jeremy Bellois; and great grandchildren, Eric Richard Hile, Christopher Pepe, Angela Pepe, Zachary Ryan Powell, Tyler Roberts, Allen Robert Bellois.

As per her wishes, she was cremated and interment will be scheduled at a later date in Northport, NY.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Delaware Hospice in memory of Doris, 911 South DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.

Arrangements are handles through Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South Dupont Hwy., Harrington.

Green, Glenn T.

HARRINGTON - Glenn T. Green, of Harrington, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010, at his home. He was 75.

After graduating from the Milton High School, Mr. Green served his country proudly in the United States Army, where he was stationed in France. Mr. Green worked for New Process Fibre of Greenwood. Prior to that, he retired from Reichhold Chemicals Inc. as a supervisor of Lab Services.

In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and spending time at Slaughter Beach watching the ships come in. Back in the day, he was also enjoyed bowling. He leaves behind a loving family who will sorely miss him.

In addition to his parents, Charles and Mildred Green, he was preceded in death by wife, Phoebe Green; and sisters, Doris Green and Jean Thomas.

He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Renee and Jaime Rau of Felton, Glenda and Chris Adkins of Milford, and Debbie and Willie Graves of Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Jenna, Emilee, and Madison Rau, Jason and Jackie Adkins, Laura, Amy, and Jeremy Graves; brothers, Charles "Bo" Green of Tennessee, and Robert "Bobby" Green of Hartly; and sister, Mary Jane Sammons of Milton.

Services will be 1 p.m., Friday, Oct. 15, 2010, at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Hwy., Harrington, where a visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.

Arrangements are by the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington.
