Yvonne B. Algier
GREENWOOD - Yvonne B. Algier, 75, of Greenwood, died Friday, Sept. 17, 2010, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital. She is the daughter of the late Frank and Viola Brown Breeding.
Mrs. Algier was employed by the Kent County Levy Court, Delaware State Department of Public Instruction and after 25 + years of employment with the Delaware Technical and Community College, Southern Campus, retired in 1991. In 1997, she and her husband, "Buzz, " moved to Daytona Beach, Fla., as "snow birds." She very much enjoyed spending the winters there.
In her spare time, she was an avid card player. Yvonne and her family were also Adopt-A-Highway volunteers for over 10 years. Yvonne blessed her family with great love, compassion, selfless giving and loyalty. She enjoyed life to its fullest and will be remembered for her happy disposition.
Mrs. Algier was a member of the Todds Chapel Family for over 40 years. She was also a member of the Woman of the Moose #1229, and the Harrington Senior Center.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Althea Messick; and brothers, Paul and Allen Breeding.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 57 years, Douglas "Buzz" Algier, of Greenwood; sons and daughters-in law, Marlon Douglas and Brenda Algier, Terry Wayne and Jo Ellen Algier, all of Greenwood; grandchildren, Mark Douglas Algier and wife Krystal of Easton, Md., Christopher Lee Algier of Denton, Md., Jared Paul Algier of Salisbury, Md., Katey Jo Evans and husband Kevin of Bridgeville; great-grandchildren, Madison, Madilyn, and Blake Algier; sisters, Blanche Horney of Guilford, Conn., Marian Tull of Bridgeville, Joanne Outten and Nancy Smith of Dover.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2010, in Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Hwy., Harrington. Visitation will be Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will follow in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718 Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718, or to Todds Chapel UMC, 6891 Scotts Store Rd, Greenwood, DE 19950.

James E. 'Jimmie' Smith I, 69
MAGNOLIA - James E. "Jimmie" Smith I, died Sunday, June 27, 2010, at home in Magnolia surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Smith was a truck driver for many years. He drove for Star Trucking and for Dave Walls. In his spare time, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle and spending time with his family and close friends. He also raced some at Little Lincoln and Willow Grove dirt race tracks, he had car #86.
He was a generous man who would give you the shirt off of his back. He was a determined man who fought a hard battle for over 5 years to overcome his cancer. He will be truly missed.
In addition to his parents, Emory and Grace Smith, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Harry Smith, and Johnny Elliott Welzel; and a sister, Helen Evelyn (Lewis) Cecil.
He is survived by his son, James E. "Buck" Smith II of Magnolia; daughter, Tammy Butler of Georgetown; sister, Gloriaws Snyder of Magnolia; five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., June 30, at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Hwy., Harrington. Interment will be private.
Donations may be made to the America Cancer Society or to Melvin Funeral Home to help defray costs.

Edgar W. Souva, 76
FELTON — Edgar W. Souva, of Felton, died Monday, April, 5, 2010, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 76.
He was born in Carthage, N.Y., to the late Leo A. and Mildred Souva.
Mr. Souva was a farmer for the biggest part of his life. After he quit farming, he worked for San-Del for 22 years spraying crops, a job he thoroughly enjoyed. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching NASCAR and sports. His favorite driver was Kasey Kahne, and his favorite teams were the Yankees, and Syracuse University Basketball.
He will be remembered as a good man who liked to have fun. He enjoyed friends and family and looked forward to picnics and get togethers. He was very good to his companion, Martha, and they were together constantly. He will be truly missed.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Souva.
He is survived by his long time companion of 33 years, Martha Mae Johnson of Felton; sons, Guy G. Souva of Greenwood, Terry L. Souva of Lowville, N.Y., and Jeffrey K. Souva of Copenhagen, N.Y.; daughters, Cherie M. Wingo of Greenwood, Deanna D. Moore of Big Stone Gap, Va., and Renee S. Henkle of Atlanta, Ga.; sisters, Helen Leddy of Philadelphia, N.Y., and Eleanor Robbins of Worchester, Mass.; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, April 10, in Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington, where a visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Interment will be in Hopkins Cemetery, Felton.
Arrangements are handled by the Melvin Funeral Home of Harrington.
Ronald F. 'Hymie' Bowlin, 61
HARRINGTON - Ronald F. "Hymie" Bowlin, 61, died Friday, June 25, 2010, at his home in Harrington.
Mr. Bowlin worked in construction all his life, and worked for various companies including NCP, American Precast and Tilcon. Mr. Bowlin was a fun loving and honest man. He believed in the philosophy of work hard and play hard. He played hard in a country and western band with his guitar, which he loved to play and even sing. He will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, Zester and Marion Bowlin, he was preceded in death by a son, Jason Bowlin; and brother, Michael Bowlin.
He is survived by his loving wife of 12 years, Yvonne L. "Bonnie" Bowlin of Harrington; step son, Robert Arenz of Gettysburg, Pa.; daughters, Michele Meckley, Kathi Martin, Dawn Bullock, Jessica Bowlin, and Rebecca Bowlin, all of Hanover, Pa.; step daughters, Karen Hockensmith of Aspers, Pa., and Tammy Behl of York, Pa.; brothers, Donald Bowlin of Hanover, Pa., and Marvin Bowlin of Hanover, Pa.; long time best friend, Bill LeDane; 19 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Memorial Gathering will be 3 p.m., Saturday, July 3, 2010, at the American Legion CKRT Post #7 of Harrington. Internment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hanover, Pa., on July 10, at 10 a.m.

Hrupsa, Irma M.
FELTON - Irma M. Hrupsa, of Felton, passed away at Delaware Hospice Center on Oct. 31, 2010, surrounded by her loving and caring family. She was 90. Born March 1920, in Ostratice, Czechoslovakia, to Zigmond and Otilia Jankovick.
In 1937, she came to the United States to live with her cousin and in 1939, she met the love of her life, Charlie. They married in 1941, bought a farm and raised their family.
Irma was a home maker and what a loving home she kept. She was a most excellent cook! She combined European and American cooking and what a treat! She loved her family, friends and neighbors who visited her on the farm. She always made everyone feel welcome and right at home. She was also well known for her exemplary sewing, crocheting and clothes making abilities.
She will be remembered by all who knew her best as a remarkable loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt who instilled love, devotion and loyalty to her family. Throughout her illness, she was always a regal lady that loved to joke and kid around without any complaint. She was always filled with love, happiness and joy.
Mrs. Hrupsa was a most faithful member of St. Bernadette's Church for many years. She leaves behind a most loving family who will sorely and greatly miss her. She was greatly loved by all family, friends and surrounding neighbors. Her spirit will remain in all who knew her best.
Special thanks to her caregiver Clara Orozco and Joy Bishop as well as the most dedicated and caring people of Delaware Hospice.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Ann Pearson of Felton; a beloved great-granddaughter, Jessica Pearson of Felton; son-in-law, Charles Pearson of Harrington; brothers, Joseph Jankovick and Tony Jankovick of Czechoslovakia; sister, Bertha Horska of Czechoslovakia; and numerous cousins throughout the world.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Hrupsa; daughter, Marie Pearson; and four brothers.
Services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010, at St. Bernadette's Church, Harrington. A visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday evening, at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Hwy., Harrington, DE 19952. Burial will be in Hopkins Cemetery, Felton.
Arrangements are by the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington.
Albert, Brandon Scott
Brandon Scott Albert, stillborn FELTON - Brandon Scott Albert was born and died on Saturday, May 1, 2010, in Jennersville Regional Hospital, West Grove, Pa.
He is survived by his parents, Ashley M. Cole and Kevin S. Albert of Felton; sister, Skilynn M. Cole of Felton; grandparents, David I. Albert of Felton, Terry L. Albert of Harrington, Emerald Dohner of Harrington, Tammi McCrea of PA, Willard McCrea of MD; great-grandparents, Joseph Albert, and Patsy Albert of Felton; aunts, Christina L. Albert of Felton, and Bonnie Cole of Woodside.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, May 6, 2010, at Barratts Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.
