Hager, Dorothy Amelia

Dorothy Amelia (Flowers) Hager, age 84, of New Castle, DE, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, September 3, 2006. Mrs. Hager loved her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed reading.

Mrs. Hager is survived by her son, David R. Hager Sr. and his wife Kathy; her daughter Elaine H. Creek and her husband Donald, Sr.; her brother Richard Flowers; her sister Eleanor McHenry; 6 grandchildren: Stephanie Lynn and her husband Joshua, David R. and his wife Jennifer, Donald and his wife Caroline, Steven and his wife Tracy, Kevin and his wife Kimberly, and Brian, who is serving in Iraq, and his wife Shannon; and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd Oscar Hager and 2 sisters, Lillian Moffit and Mildred Brownback.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, September 6, 2006 from 6-7 PM in the Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans, Rd., Newark, DE 19702 followed by a service at 7 PM. Burial will be Thursday, September 7, 2006 in the Hatboro Cemetery, Hatboro, PA. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Mrs. Hager's memory to the Calvert Manor Nursing Scholarship Fund, 1881 Telegraph Rd., Rising Sun, MD 21911.

John J. Hadfield (Jack)

John J. Hadfield, "Jack" died on March 2, 2007, at home.

Loving husband, father and Pop-Pop, Jack was well known for his quick wit and dry sense of humor. Jack and his wife, Pat, first became sweethearts at Brown Vocational High School in Wilmington and were married 53 happy years. They delighted in raising and spending time with their 4 children and 7 grandchildren while remaining in Wilmington. Pat and Jack enjoyed bowling in Claymore and Midcounty Bowling Leagues, taking an occasional cruise and watching game shows. Jack served in the Army during the Korean War and later worked as a union electrician for IBEW Local 313, retiring after 40 years of service.

Jack leaves behind his wife, Pat Hadfield; brother, Thomas Hadfield and wife, Mae; sisters, Elsie Brady and Thomasine Morrison; step-sister, Phyllis Young; children, John Hadfield, Holly Hadfield Aguilar, Paul Hadfield and his wife, Beth and Julie Hadfield and her husband, John Neifert; grandchildren, Meghan Muzzi, Will Muzzi, Justin Muzzi, Julianna Aguilar, Paul Hadfield, Jr., Lydia Hadfield and Dylan Hadfield.

A gathering will be held on Tuesday, March 6, at MEALEY'S FUNERAL HOME, Limestone and Milltown Roads. Visiting hours are 6-8 pm, with a memorial service at 8 pm. Jack's ashes will be interred at the Veteran's Cemetery in Bear, DE.

Contributions may be made in Jack's memory to the Helen Graham Cancer Treatment Center, Christiana Hospital Campus, 4701 Ogletown-Stanton Road, Suite 2200, Newark, DE 19713.

Kathleen C. Hagan

Age 82, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 30, 2006 at Manor Care Healthcare Center in Pike Creek.

Born in Wilmington, Ms. Hagan was the daughter of the late James and Teresa (Cummings) Hagan. She worked for the Dupont Company for 44 years, retiring from the atomic energy division. In addition to her parents, Ms. Hagan was predeceased by her brothers, James A., William A. and Thomas M. Hagan, and his sisters, Marie T. Hagan, Anne Marie Hagan, Elizabeth Nacci, and Suzanne Covelli.

She is survived by her sisters, Joan H. Pawlowicz, Patricia H. Dumas, and Barbara A. Hagan; her brother, J. Richard Hagan; several nieces and nephews; and great nieces and great nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staffs at Manor Care, Heartland Hospice and to Sr. Marie Bernadette and Sr. John Regina from St. Ann's Parish.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 2nd at 10 AM at St. Ann's Church, Gilpin and Union Streets, Wilmington. Interment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery, Wilmington.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. Ann's Church, 2013 Gilpin Avenue, Wilmington, DE 19806.

Ralph, Carolyn Ruth

Carolyn Ruth Ralph, age 76, of Laurel, Delaware passed away on July 6, 2009 at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Tangier Island, Virginia a daughter of the late Lon and Mary Charnock.

She retired as a self-employed poultry farmer and homemaker. Carolyn was a member of Mount Pleasant Untied Methodist Church in Laurel. Along with her late husband she was a member of the local VFW and American Legion.

She is survived by her close friends Milton Brunner and family, Lori and Micheal Short and Tammy Hawley and family, all of Laurel. She also leaves behind her Dog "Sugar" and cat "Tom".

She is preceded in death by her husband Donald T. Ralph whom passed in 1998 and her brother and sister.

A viewing will be held at the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home 700 West Street Laurel, Delaware 19956 on Friday, July 10, 2009 from 1-2:00 pm, a Graveside Service will follow in Mt. Pleasant Church Cemetery at 2:30pm. The Rev. Dale Evans will officiate.

Donations can be made in her honor to the: DE SPCA - Sussex Chapter 22918 DuPont Highway Georgetown, DE 19947.

Raimato, Michael J.

Michael J. Raimato, age 64, of Newark, DE went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 20, 2008 after a long battle with cancer. Michael was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4548 and the Carriage Association of America where he enjoyed restoring horse drawn carriages and sleighs. His grandchildren, Becara Dalton and Naomi Miller, were the love of his life.

Michael is survived by his wife of 8 ½ years, Elaine Raimato, daughters, Jill Raimato, Michelle Raimato; step daughters, Amy Dalton and Rebecca Miller; 3 brothers, James C. Raimato, Mario M. Raimato & wife, Florence, Frank J. Raimato & wife, Carol; sister, Marie McMillan. He was preceded in death by his parents, James G. and Mafalda; brothers, Henry D Raimato & Robert D. Raimato.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, February 25, 2008 at Holy Angels Church, 82 Possum Park Road, Newark, DE 19711 from 10-11 am followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11 am. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Heartland Hospice House, 5661 Ochletree Lane, Wilmington, DE 19808.

Ralph, Edward H.

Edward H. Ralph, age 74, of Laurel, Delaware died on October 8, 2008 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Maryland.

Ed was born in Laurel, a son of the late Edwin B. Ralph and Pauline Dickerson Ralph. An infant brother Albert Ralph also precedes him in death.

Mr. Ralph graduated from Laurel High School class of 1951, and attended the University of Delaware where he received his B.S. degree in horticulture in 1955. Where he later received his M.S. degree in horticulture 1957. He was the director of Delaware Substation Division, University of Delaware, during this time of service he also served as the Executive Secretary of Delmarva Poultry Industry, Inc. In 1984 he retied from the University with 29 years and 7 months of service. He later was the Executive Director of the Delmarva Poultry Industry. In 1990 he was the Assistant to the Vice President for Advancement at the University of Delaware and the Southern Delaware Assistant to the President of The University of Delaware. In 1993, he was appointed by the Governor as the Delaware Deputy Secretary of Agriculture. Ed also proudly served his country in the Delaware National Guard were he was a Lieutenant.

He was extremely active in the Laurel Community, serving on many boards and committees. A member and administrative board member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Laurel. He also held many positions on Agriculture Boards, where he was a long time board member for the Delmarva Poultry Industry, Inc. His many memberships included Delaware Farm Bureau, Delaware Poultry Improvement Association, Delaware Grange, a charter member of the Laurel High School Alumni Association, the Sussex County Independent Libraries Trustees Association and University of Delaware Agriculture Alumni Association where he was past secretary-treasurer and President. Ed was a founding member of the Tussocky Tax Ditch. He has also received many awards and honors, including Aggie of the year, Certificate of Distinguished service from the National Association of County Agriculture agents, George M. Worrilow Award for outstanding service to agriculture by a University of Delaware alumni, along with many additional awards from the agriculture community, University of Delaware and Sussex County government. In 1979 he was the Laurel's Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Citizen of the Year. In 1997 he received the Order of the First State Award, which is the highest award presented to a civilian by the Governor and Lieutenant Governor.

Ed is survived by his wife Peggy J. Ralph, his sons: Alan R. Ralph and and a daughter in law Valerie Eskridge and stepson Mark H. Bramble and his wife Brenda all of Laurel, Delaware. His grandchildren: Jami Gordy, Casey Jo Ralph and Dylan Eskridge.

Memorial Contributions can be made in his memory to: Laurel Fire Department 205 W. Tenth Street Laurel, DE 19956 or Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church c/o Ellen Hearn 36197 Susan Beach Rd. Delmar, DE. 19940 .

A Funeral Service will be held at the Laurel Fire Company 205 W. Tenth Street Laurel, Delaware on Saturday, October 11th, 2008 at 2:00pm. Where a viewing will be held from 12-2:00 pm. The Rev. Dale Evans will officiate. Internment will follow the service in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Laurel.

Arrangements are in the care of the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home Laurel, Delaware 302-875-3637.

Radish, Roscoe W.

Roscoe W. Radish, age 86 of Laurel, De died Dec. 3 2006 at his home in Laurel.

Born in Gumboro, De. he was the son of the Late Herbert and Ella Radish.

Roscoe retired from the E.I. Dupont Co. in Seaford working in Data Systems. After retirement he worked with his son at R.W. Radish and Associates of Laurel.

He was a member of American Legion Post #19 Laurel, and a past member of the Laurel Lions Club. He will also be remembered for his home building abilities. He was a Veteran of the US Air Force.

He is survived by his wife Phyllis Radish and his sons: Randy Radish and his wife Kathy of Laurel and Ronald Radish and his wife Louise of Tenn. Step-Sons: John Andrew Rash Jr. and his wife Kathy of Georgetown and Brendan Rash and his wife Sandy of Laurel. His Daughter: Audrey Moore and her husband Dana of Laurel. A Grandson Ross Radish of Philadelphia and two Granddaughters, along with several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Christ Evangelistic Church Camp Rd. Laurel, De. on Thursday Dec. 7, 2006 at 2:00PM. The Rev. Roland Tice will officiate. A Viewing will also be held at the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home 700 West St Laurel, De. on Wednesday Dec. 06 from 7-8:30PM. Internment will be held privately at Laurel Hill Cemetery Laurel.

Raff, David R.

David R. Raff, age 59, of Wilmington passed away at Christiana Hospital on Saturday August 9, 2003.

Mr. Raff retired from the DuPont Company where he was employed for over 30 years as a Senior Research Technician. He was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, where he was awarded a Bronze Star Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars and the National Defense Service Medal. Mr. Raff also earned a 1st Class Gunner and Expert Rifleman Service Ribbons. He also enjoyed fishing and riding his Harley and was predeceased by his parents, the late Charles and Jeanne Thomas.

Mr. Raff is survived by his son, Daniel D. Raff and wife Kimberly of Landenberg, PA, a daughter, Kimberly L. Singleton and husband Mike of Hot Springs AR, 3 grandchildren, Allison, Nicholas, and Taylor, a sister, Susie Dalessandro of Orrville, OH and his companion, Sharon Stein.

Services and interment will be held Privately at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross, 100 W. 10th Street, Wilmington 19801.
