Kaiser, Charles F.

Charles F. Kaiser, 87, of Dagsboro, DE formerly of Romney, WV passed away Sunday, April 6, 2008 at Harrison House in Georgetown, Delaware.

Mr. Kaiser was born on May 23, 1920 in Cumberland, Maryland to the late Charles and Clara Ash Kaiser.

Mr. Kaiser was a machinist at Vitro Automation in Silver Spring, MD for over 20 years, prior to that he worked for Hercules in Pinto, WV.

Mr. Kaiser was a member of Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church, Millsboro. He was a member of the Millsboro Senior Center and participated in many bowling leagues back in West Virginia as well as in Millsboro. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a good mechanic, great carpenter and machinist. Mr. Kaiser was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Wanda Mauk Kaiser in May 1986 and his second wife, Margaret Steele Kaiser in January 2003.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on 11:00 AM at Mary Mother of Peace Roman Catholic Church, SR 24, Oak Orchard, near Millsboro, Del.

Viewing will be Thursday from 5 - 7:00 PM and Friday from 9 - 10 AM at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington Street, Millsboro, Delaware.

Interment with honors at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Patriots Way, Millsboro, Delaware.

In lieu of flowers the family asks for contributions to the American Cancer Society, 1138 Parsons Rd, Salisbury, MD 21801.

Rita B. Kafader

Age 83 of Wilmington, DE passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2006 at the Franciscan Care Center at Brackenville surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Wilmington, Delaware to the late Marguerite and Edward F. Burke. She graduated from Wilmington High School in 1941. Mrs. Kafader was supervisor of business licensing for the State of Delaware, Division of Revenue and retired in 1985. She was a lifelong member of Saint Matthew's Church in Woodcrest.

Besides her parents, Mrs. Kafader is predeceased by her husband, John W. Kafader, her daughter, Anne M. Vietri and her siblings, Edward F. Burke, Jr, Marion McNamara and Regina Coyle.

She is survived by her children, Jonette Oldham, Gina Kenney, Edward F. Kafader, John W. Kafader, Jr., Sally K. Freebery and Rita A. Slepesky. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Matthews Catholic Church at 3 Curtis Avenue, Woodcrest, Wilmington, on Friday, June 23, 2006 at 10:00 AM. Friends may call at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Highway, Elsmere on Thursday evening June 22 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family request contributions to St. Matthews Catholic Church, 3 Curtis Avenue, Wilmington DE 19804.

Kalar, Jr., Norman B.

Norman B. Kalar, 84, N. Taylor Drive, Dover, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2002, at KGH Bay Health Dover.

He was born on April 21, 1918, in Erie, PA to Norman and Edna Mae (Miller) Kalar, Sr.

Norman was in the U. S. Navy for 20 years. He was a Master Chief on the USS Hammann and received the Purple Heart in W W I I. He was a member of Military Order of the Purple Heart and American Legion Walter L. Fox Post #2. He owned and worked at Call Norman an auto air-condition repair shop. Norman was very active in the Masons with memberships in, Nur Temple, Wilmington, DE, Grand Council of Cryptic Mason Adoniram Council #2, Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons Kent Chapter #8, Shrine Yacht Clubs, Order of the Easter Star, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, St. Andrews Knights Templar, Thomas J. Shryock Lodge #223 in Hollywood, MD.

He is survived by Wife, Serena Kalar of Dover, DE. Step son, Ralph D. Meluney of Davie, FL. Stepdaughter and her husband, Linda D. and Donald Bates of Dover, DE. Brother in Law and his wife, Medford and Eleanor Davis of Smyrna, DE. Sister in law, Marilyn Garber of Pickerting, OH. Grandchildren, Lori & Erica Bates, Great Grandchild, Sydney Bates, Cousin, Phylis Miller of Erie, PA. And many loving and caring niece, nephews, cousin, and friends.

Remembrance Services will be held Wed. 05/15/2002 01:00 PM at Trader Funeral Home in Dover, DE Burial will be at the Odd Fellows Cemetery Camden, DE

Friends may call Tuesday night 05/14/2002 07:00 PM to 09:00 PM at the Trader Funeral Home in Dover. A Masonic service will be at 8 PM.

Kamau, Jane Wangui

Jane Wangui Kamau, age 44, went to be with Lord on Tuesday, November 14, 2006. Jane was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend. She worked as a registered nurse at Manor Care Health Services and also worked as an RN for several temporary agencies. Jane was a member of New Life Worship Center.

Jane is survived by her husband; 2 sons, Joe Mwangi and Nickson Rukwaro; a daughter, Evalyne Nyokabi; 3 brothers, David Wanjohi, Samuel Ndungu, Wilson Nderitu; 3 sisters, Mary Njambi, Anne Wanjiku and Milkah Wairimu. Jane is the daughter of the late Kamau Mirobi and Evalyne Wanjiru.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 19, 2006 in the New Life Worship Center, 60 Fir Ave., Bear DE 19701 beginning at 4:00 pm followed by a service celebrating the Life of Jane at 5:00 pm. Burial will be in her homeland of Kenya.

Kalmbacher, Donald L.

Donald L. Kalmbacher, died October 26th, 2006 in Wilmington, Delaware. He was born December 6th, 1929 in Wilmington, Delaware. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in Germany. He worked at the duPont Experimental Station for 38 years before retiring in 1989. After retiring he moved to Millsboro, Delaware where he enjoyed fishing and crabbing the Rehoboth Bay with his rescued greyhound Sheba. He moved back to Wilmington in 2003 and lived at Ingleside Retirement Apartments where he worked on the gardens winning 1st place in the Wilmington Gardens contest in 2005. He was a life member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Wilmington and a life member of VFW Post 28 of Millsboro.

The family would like to thank the staff of Odyssey Health Care, Ingleside Apartments and Regal Heights for their care and support.

He is survived by his son, Ronald and wife Patricia of Wilmington; granddaughters, Leah and Melissa of Wilmington; brother, Arthur Kalmbacher of Wilmington; sister, Lois McCoy of Pawleys Island, SC and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Funeral arrangements and burial will be private.

Jackson, Lillian Katherine

Lillian Katherine "Nanny" Jackson, age 77, of Elkton, MD, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 6, 2008. Nanny was a loving and devoted grandmother and great grandmother.

Nanny is survived by her daughter, Patty & husband, Richard Roth, Sr.; grandchildren: Wendy & husband, David Steele, Cookie Roth & Chad Davidson, Richard Roth, Jr. & wife, Gwen; great grandchildren: Ashley, Richie III, Chloe, Jonathon, Eric.

Lorraine (Owen) Imschweiler

Age 83, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 25, 2007 at the Heartland Hospice House surrounded by her family.

Born in Pottsville, PA, Mrs. Imschweiler was the daughter of the late Ernest Dudley and Leota Savilla (Ale) Owen. She was a registered nurse and served her country in the US Army during World War II. Later, she worked for the Veterans Administration Medical Center for 26 years and retired from Brandywine Convalescent Home.

Lorraine will be dearly missed by her daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara O. and David Harring, of Sealy, TX, Beth A. and Bill Reuter of Wilmington, DE, Beatrice L. and Doug Dasher of Silver Springs, FL, and Beverly and Bud Frederick of Wilmington, DE. Also surviving are six grandchildren and six great grandchildren; and her sister, Dawn Keil of Wilmington, DE.

A memorial service will be celebrated on Thursday, March 1st at 1 PM at Mealey Funeral Home, Limestone and Milltown Road, Wilmington. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Heartland Hospice House, 5661 Ochletree Lane, Wilmington, DE 19808.

Haas, Dorothy B.

Dorothy B. Haas, 63, of Smyrna, died on Sunday November 3 at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital, Dover.

She was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Alberta Blow.

Mrs. Haas had been employed by the Town of Smyrna from 1957-1967.

She then was employed by the Delaware Department of Transportation as an administrative assistant from 1967-2000, when she retired.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Smyrna, and was currently serving as a Deacon. She had formerly served as an Elder and Clerk of Session.

Mrs. Haas enjoyed reading, cooking, and gardening.

She is survived by her husband of 38 years, James D. Haas; a brother, Donald K. Blow, of Smyrna; two sisters, Charlotte Lenhoff, of Clayton; and Mary E. King, of Chadds Ford, Pa.; and twelve nieces and nephews.

Services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday November 7 at First Presbyterian Church, 118 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, where friends may call at 10:00 AM.

Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to First Presbyterian Church, 118 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, De. 19977; or to the Delaware Humane Assoc., 701 A St., Wilmington, De. 19801.

Arrangements were by Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, Smyrna.
