Covington, Edwin "Jake" P.

Edwin "Jake" P. Covington of Clayton, DE died on Thursday October 28, 2010 in his home, after a long illness, with his family by his side.

He was 77.

Mr. Covington was born March 13, 1933 in Boothwyn, PA the son of the late Henry and Lillian Covington.

Mr. Covington was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria R. (Wright) Covington in 1999; and their three sons, Edwin P. Covington, Jr. in 1955, baby boy Covington in 1956, and William "Billy" Covington in 1976.

He is survived by three daughters, Karen Ward of Dover, Shirley Hudson and her husband Darryle of Peach Bottom, PA, and Patricia Covington-Gloss and her husband Scott Gloss of Clayton; five grandchildren, Kevin Ward, Khristey Lau, Briin Hudson, Justin Hudson, and Jennifer Biddle; and two great-grandchildren, Andrew Lau and Cameryn Collins.

Services will be at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Hwy. Dover, DE 19904.

Arrangements are by Faries Funeral Directors and Crematorium, Inc. 29 S. Main St. Smyrna, DE.

Rose, Sr., Gordon E.

Gordon E. Rose, Sr. of Clayton, DE died on Monday October 25, 2010 at Capitol Health Care in Dover, DE.

He was 78.

Mr. Rose was born November 8, 1931 in West Virginia the son of the late Calvin Rose and Bessie Yates Rose.

He was a Veteran of the United States Army.

Mr. Rose was the Owner of Rose's Exxon in Smyrna for 10 years and also managed a Texaco Gas Station in Wilmington, DE.

He loved playing golf and was a NASCAR fan, especially of Ernie Irvan. He also enjoyed working in his workshop tinkering with things.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amanda Lynne Rose; and he was the last of 9 brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Malinda J. Rose; a daughter, Brenda Alexander and her husband Kenny of Wilmington; 2 sons, William E. Rose of Smyrna, and Gordon E. Rose, Jr. and his wife Lynne of Clayton; and 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Services will be held privately by the family.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association Delaware Chapter, 2306 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19805.

Vaughn, Sylvia H.

Sylvia H. Vaughn of Clayton, DE passed away at home on Monday November 15, 2010.

She was 83.

Mrs. Vaughn was born June 10, 1927 in Philadelphia, PA the daughter of the late Frederick Harris and Sylvia Shultis Harris.

She was a homemaker and long time resident of Clayton.

Mrs. Vaughn was a member of the Smyrna Homemakers Club.

Her hobbies included playing and watching tennis, reading, sewing, and playing the piano and organ. She was member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Smyrna where she was active in the choir and taught Sunday School for many years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 60 years, Senator James T. Vaughn; and three brothers, Frederick Harris, Charles Harris, and William Harris.

She is survived by two sons, James T. Vaughn, Jr. and his wife Marjorie of Smyrna, and Robert G. Vaughn and his wife Deborah of Camden, DE; a daughter, Judith V. Wright and her husband Bryan of Smyrna; a brother, Earl Harris and his wife Charlotte of Florida; three granddaughters, Mary E. Vaughn of Lewes, DE, Holly O. Vaughn of Dover, DE, and Candace M. Wright of Clayton; three grandsons, James T. Vaughn, III of Baltimore, MD, Matthew R. Vaughn and his wife Michelle of Richfield, MN, and Justin B. Wright of Clayton; 2 step grandchildren, Jeffrey Ahlers and his wife Jennifer of Dover, and Nichole Dinch and her husband Ronald of Maysville, KY; 2 great grandchildren, Julia Vaughn and Anna Vaughn of Richfield, MN; 5 sister-in-laws, Dixie Harris, Betty Harris, Mary Longenecker and her husband, Don, Kay Vaughn, and Sherie Vaughn; a brother-in-law, Robert Vaughn and his wife Jimmie; and 9 step great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday November 19, 2010 at 1pm in the Faries Funeral Chapel located at 29 South Main Street, Smyrna, DE. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11am to 1pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way Suite 205, New Castle, DE 19720 or to the American Heart Association, 200 Continental Drive, Newark, DE 19713.

Montague, Olive Virginia

Olive Virginia Montague of Dover, Delaware passed away on Monday June 21, 2010 at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, Delaware.

She was 86.

Mrs. Montague was born January 20, 1924 in Dover, Delaware the daughter of the late Walter Reed and Florence Coverdale Reed.

She worked as a Nurses Aid for Kent General Hospital before retiring at the age of 55.

She enjoyed spending time with her great grandchildren and working in the yard, and loved cooking for her family and taking care of her flowers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank J. Montague; a step-son, Hall Montague; three brothers, Dick Reed, Nelson Reed, and Victor Reed; and four sisters, Jeannie Reed, Blanche Wells, Dorothy Newell, and Ann McCoy; a step-great granddaughter, Hannah Davies.

She is survived by three sons, Benjamin Dickinson of Dover, Donald Dickinson and his wife Barbara of Frederica, Delaware, and James Dickinson and his wife Valerie of Camden, Delaware; step children, Mary Ann Davies and her husband Bill of Dover; two sisters, Margaret Edge of Dover, and Vesta Barnes of Austin, Texas; 6 grandchildren, Jodie, Todd, Cyndi, Aaron, Vicki, and Duke; 2 step grandchildren, Laura and Greg; and 3 step-great grandchildren, Reagan, Riley, and Trevor; 6 great grandchildren Kayla, Brianna, Brooklyn, Nicklaus, Codishay, and Samantha; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be Thursday June 24, 2010 at 11am in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main Street Smyrna, Delaware where friends may call one hour prior to the services.

Burial will be held in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden, Delaware.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19904.

Lefebvre, Elizabeth Christina

Elizabeth Christina Lefebvre, of Dover, DE age 88, passed away November 27, 2010 with her loving family by her side. She was born in Terryville, Connecticut on January 31, 1922 to the late Fannie Rein and Frederick Talmadge and was one of 6 children. She is preceded by her brother Billy Talmadge; and two sisters, Dorothy Lowden and Margaret Orsini.

She is survived by her brothers Charles Talmadge, and Frederick Talmadge; and a sister Lillian Hennion.

Elizabeth is also preceded by her grandson Robert Lefebvre Jr.; and her husband of 55 years, Henry Lefebvre. They had a story book romance where they met while working together in a Timex Watch factory and married June 14, 1941. She is survived by her 7 children, Dolores Geesey of Chincoteague, VA; Diana Carter of Dover, DE; Henry Lefebvre Jr. of Elkton, MD; Robert Lefebvre of Avondale, PA; Kenneth Lefebvre of Clayton, DE; Keith Lefebvre Sr. of Bear, DE and Michael Lefebvre, Sr. of Magnolia, DE. Also surviving are her beloved 26 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Once her children were grown, she worked as a seamstress, which later evolved into her passion for sewing and making intricate dolls clothes for arts & craft shows. Her artistic flare also spread to her talent with ceramics that she also sold at shows.

Elizabeth also enjoyed her golden years as an avid bowler. She was a member of Monday Morning Stars, Dover Bowl and Wednesday Seniors. Her love for the sport lead her to participate in the Senior Olympics for several years running and gave her the opportunity to do some much loved traveling. Hawaii still ranked as one of her most memorable adventures.

Public viewing will be held Wednesday December 1, 2010 at Faires Funeral Directors 29 S. Main St. Smyrna, DE 19977 from 7-9pm. Services will be at 11am, Thursday December 2, 2010 at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery 2465 Chesapeake City Rd. Bear, DE 19701.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the Bayhealth Foundation, 640 S. State St., Dover, DE 19901.
