Marie Beauchamp-Potter

HARRINGTON - I. Marie Beauchamp-Potter, of Harrington, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2010, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital. She was 80.

Ms. Potter raised and showed cocker spaniels. Her pride and joy were two American and Canadian Champions dogs that she raised, showing them all over the U.S. as well as Canada. In her younger days, she owned and operated House of Beauchamp Beauty Salon in Harrington. She also worked in family business Messick Nursing Home of Harrington for many years.

When Ms. Potter met her second husband Robert, she got very involved in auto racing, mainly midgets and sprint cars. She recalls the day that Jeff Gordon at age 14 came and sat on a stack of tires in their garage, and from that day forward, she followed Jeff Gordon's Career. She even had a part of J.C. Agajanian Raceway of Ascott Park in Los Angeles.

She wrote articles and poetry for USAC and their different race magazines throughout California and Indianapolis. She even wrote a song that made it all the way to Nashville.

Ms. Potter was very outgoing, loved people and enjoyed life to the fullest. She was an avid cook and gardener. She was a strong minded person with a heart of gold. Her greatest joy was traveling with her children and grandchildren and spending time with them.

Ms. Potter was a member of the Mispillion Kennel Club, where she served as their Secretary and treasurer for many years, and a member of Penn Treaty Kennel Club of PA.

In addition to her parents, Ida and Medford Walls, she was preceded in death by her first husband of 25 years, Clarence F. Beauchamp.

She is survived by her second husband of 20 years, Robert "Bob" Potter of Indianapolis, Ind.; sons and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Lindy Beauchamp of Quartzhill, Calif., and Keith Beauchamp of Harrington; daughter, Debra K. Beauchamp - Gietka and her husband Edward of Lake City, Fla.; ten grandchildren, Erica, Kevin, Darrin, Malorie, and Lauren Beauchamp of California, Cheyenne and Mikenzi Beauchamp of Harrington, Ashlyn Noelle Johnson of Milford, Christian Charles Stelljes of Dover, Lamonte "Mark" Kendzierski and his wife Crystal of Oklahoma; six great-grandchildren, Madison Grace Johnson-Perry, Addison Kendzierski, Nicolas, Ashley, Sophie, and Amelia Beauchamp; and three close friends, Edna, Beverly, and Geneva.

Memorial services will be 7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010, at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. Dupont Hwy., Harrington, with a visitation one prior to the services.

Arrangements are handled by the melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington, DE.

Reed, Connie Ann

FELTON - Connie Ann Reed, of Felton, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital. She was 45. Ms. Reed fought a life long illness of Cerebral Palsy.

She loved her nieces and nephews and her great nieces and nephews. They loved playing with her and keeping her occupied. She looked forward to her nightly bowl of ice cream and would just smile and giggle when she heard mom or dad get a bowl and spoon.

She loved sitting on the sofa with her friend and aid Celeste a couple times a week. She loved watching the lights on the Christmas Tree. She loved company and never wanted to miss a thing.

She was preceded in death by grandparents, Whiteley T. and Louise E. Reed, and William and Annie Ware.

She is survived by her parents, "Buddy" Charles Roy Reed Sr., and Mildred Louise Ware Reed, with whom she lived, of Felton; brothers, Charles R. Reed Jr. and his friend Ronda Everett of Felton, and Curtis W. Reed Sr. of Felton; sister, Cynthia R. Evans and her husband Parry O. Evans Jr. of Felton; nieces, Erica L. Knight and her husband Michael, Brenda Renee Oakley and her husband Leland, both of Felton, and Brittany Reed of Smyrna; nephews, Wayne T. Jester Jr. and his wife Trista, Charles R. Reed III and his wife Jamie, Curtis W. Reed Jr., all of Felton; great-nieces, Sierra and Maya Jester of Felton; great-nephews, Thomas L. Knight, and Charles R. Reed IV of Felton; and special friend of many years, Celeste McQueen.

A memorial service will be 8 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010, at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Hwy., Harrington, where a visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Calvary Wesleyan Church "Promise Land" property fund, 240 Delaware Avenue, Harrington, DE 19952.

Carol Ann Santich

GREENWOOD - Carol Ann Santich, of Greenwood, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 12, 2010, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial. She was 60.

Mrs. Santich worked as a CNA for Country Rest Home of Greenwood, where she was known as a dedicated and hard working employee. In years past, she also worked as a bank teller, helped her husband with his marine electronics business and family farm, worked for the state as a bookkeeper, and owned her own cleaning business.

She received a Master of Arts degree from Hofstra University.

She was known for her bubbly personality and willingness to help others in need. She constantly went out of her way to help others, and everyone who met her loved her. Her generous, loving, and honest nature were the characteristics that set her apart from everyone else. She will be sorely missed.

Mrs. Santich was a member of From the Heart Church Ministries.

She was preceded in death by a father, Wilfred Gildersleeve.

She is survived by her husband of 21 years, Matthew Santich of Greenwood; and mother, Mary Gildersleeve of New York.

Services will be 1 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010, in Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Hwy., Harrington, where a visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are by the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Hw., Harrington, DE 19952.

Brown Hudson, Leona

MALONE, N.Y. - Leona Brown Hudson died peacefully in her sleep on Dec. 8, 2010. She resided at Franklin County Nursing Home, Malone, N.Y. She was 89.

She was born in Marathon, N.Y., and until recently, lived most of her life in Delaware. Leona graduated from Binghamton, N.Y., Nursing School and worked at Kent General Hospital for 27 years.

Mrs. Hudson was a wonderful mother, grandma, sister and friend. Her favorite saying was "It will all work out." She started every day by saying, "This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it." Leona cherished her family and friends and will be greatly missed.

Mrs. Hudson was a member of the Viola U.M. Church, Fruitland Grange, Kent County Links, past leader of Paradise 4-H club, and charter member of the VFW Auxiliary #6921.

In addition to her parents, Norman N. and Mildred G. Brown, she was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel H. Hudson Jr.; sister, Marion Robinson; daughter-in-law, Susan H. Hudson; and sister-in-law, Mary Catherine Hudson.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Clifford W. and Judy Hudson of Harrington, Charles A. and Barbara Hudson of Chateaugay, N.Y.; daughter and son-in-law, Marjorie H. and Chuck Armstrong of Wheaton, Ill.; brothers, Thomas A. Brown of Marathon, N.Y., and Lawrence L. Brown of Marathon, N.Y.; sisters, Laura Meachill of Poulsbo, Wash., and Elinor Banks of Livingston Manor, N.Y.; seven grandchildren and spouses, David C. and Victoria Hudson of Milford, Karen H. and Michael McGee of Russellville, Ky., Robert D. Armstrong of Chicago, Ill., Daniel R. and Heather Armstrong of Wheaton, Ill., Jennifer S. Hudson of Viola, Ryan C. Hudson of Chateaugay, N.Y., and Melissa K. Hudson of Viola; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be 3 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington, where a visitation will be held two hours prior to the service. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to the Felton-Viola U.M. Church, PO Box 247, Felton, DE 19943; or to the Delaware Alzheimer's Association.

Arrangements are by the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington, DE 19952.

Lewis P. Yacabell, III

Died July 7, 2004 at Lockraven Hospital in Baltimore, MD.

Lewis is survived by his wife of 51 years, Barbara Yacabell, and son Lewis P. Yacabell, IV both of Rising Sun, MD. He is also survived by Angelo R. Yacabell, Gregory E. Yacabell, Dolores DiIenno, Gloria Radka and her husband Eugene, Ursula Jackson and her husband James, Christine Manri and her husband Ken; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Marlene Croce.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter's Cathedral, 6th & West Sts., Wilmington, on Wed. July 14th at 11 a.m. Friends may call at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.

Engelhardt, Marjorie Jean

WILMINGTON, DE - Marjorie Jean Engelhardt passed away Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010, at home with her loving family by her side. She was a breast cancer survivor who lost her battle with leukemia. Marjorie was the daughter of the late Vincent and Ruth Hemmer.

Mrs. Engelhardt worked in central supply at Crouse Irving Memorial Hospital in Syracuse, N.Y. for over 15 years, as well as being a homemaker.

She loved sewing, and belonged to a Sewing Guild and enjoyed making her own clothes, as well for her children and grandchildren. Her favorite activities included shopping, gardening, and singing in the choir at church. She loved spending time with her family and hosting holiday dinners.

She will be remembered as a caring and loving person who would give you the shirt off of her back. She was very outgoing and made friends with everybody. Her kindness was balanced with a great sense of humor that always kept you laughing. Her upbeat attitude and generosity will be greatly missed by her family and close friends.

Mrs. Engelhardt was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Denton and a former president of the Senior Womens Club in Tampa, FL.

Mrs. Engelhardt is survived by her loving husband, George Englehardt of Wilmington; sons, Steven Lunberg of Knoxville, Tenn., Mark Lundberg of Sugarland, Texas ; daughter, Susan Stock of Denton, Md.; sister, Joanne Gardner of El Cajon, Calif.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Service will be held Monday, Nov. 22, 2010 at 12:00 Noon at the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Hwy., Harrington, DE 19952. Visitation is one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington, Del.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 702B Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE. 19805.

Arrangements are by the Melvin Funeral Home, Harrington, DE.
